You ever go out into the frigid Rochester air to shovel, only to come in 45 minutes later desperately craving a cigar? No? That was 100% me this morning! When the (very) occasional hankering for a cigar comes my way, or I am going to a party (in the before times) where I know cigars will be appreciated, a stop at Santiago's always leaves me smiling. This place has EVERYTHING. I was first introduced to the team here at Santiago's during the Blackfriars production of Anna in the Tropics, where we had live cigar rolling for some of the evening shows. They have the expertise and a huge breadth of experience to answer your questions, and provide you with the exact celebratory smoke you're looking for. I tend to go for the alcohol infused/scented cigar options, as I am usually enjoying a cigar alongside a celebratory drink of some kind. My partner and I adore the Makers Mark cigar, and I am a sucker for anything red wine infused. They do custom bands for events, live rolling, and have nice detailed descriptions of their cigars on their website. If you are new to cigars, this is the absolute best place to dive in for the first time. Such helpful staff members with literally zero judgement, they are there to guide you along the way. They will cut for you if desired and send you on your way! They weren't open (yet) when my cigar craving hit this morning, but I am looking forward to stopping by ASAP and grabbing some goodies to enjoy here at home. I am not a smoker. But needed a Secret Santa gift for a Cigar Lover (also one of my bosses - no pressure). This place was suggested by friends. No off street parking but there is a pay lot close by or you can search side streets. I'd advise going at less busy times as it is downtown and near the bars, etc. The people working were quite helpful and friendly. I'd return again if I was in need of cigars. read more

By far one of the best cigar shop exeriences I have encountered. I arrived a little late in the day and was unable to view the rolling action; however, the shop was welcoming right away and happily assisted me in my selection. Their selection of hand-rolled signature cigars was overwhelming----I guess I will need to go back and try some other selections. I was welcomed to sit with the other customers and watch some of the opening day March Madness festivities. Just under 90 minutes later I started to walk back to my hotel. I found out they do events and will "roll" at your party. I was very happy to support this local shop and hope to find myself in the Rochester environs to discuss outrageous sports contracts, the cost of education, and popular dining venues. I can't say enough good about Santiago Cigar Factory. I was able to hire them to do a cigar bar for my wedding. It was honestly one of the best parts of the reception. They did an excellent job and everyone that went up to the cigar bar for the Santiago experience was more than impressed. Gary, the owner was great to work with on setting everything up, and his son did a fantastic job making sure that there everyone at the reception was being accommodated. The man that was rolling cigars fresh did an excellent job as well. I would recommend them to anyone. The cigars that they brought were all made personally by the team at Santiago Cigar Factory. Every cigar was excellent and even almost a year later they still taste and burn just as good as they did the night of the reception. I try to make a point to stop in and pick more up whenever I'm in Rochester. My personal favorite was a Jameson and honey cigar that they made. Very cool cigar shop, they were very knowledgeable and friendly. A great environment to smoke a cigar and relax.

My boyfriend and I have an anniversary coming up and he's been hinting really hard core that he hasn't had a really nice cigar in a while. A quick Google search of the cigar shops around Rochester and I had Santiago's. I walked in and, firstly, I loved the environment. Really nice looking shop. It was clean and smelled great. I went around 6:30 at night and there were a bunch of guys just relaxing and smoking. I walked in and one of the guys walked right up to me and asked how he could help. I described the kind of smoker my boyfriend is, and the type of cigar he prefers. I'm pretty clueless about cigars as a whole, but the gentleman that helped me was very knowledgeable and took his time explaining which cigars would be best for my boyfriend. I left with two really great, very fairly priced cigars, that I'm sure my boyfriend will love. I'll be sure to keep Santiago's in mind for Christmas, Valentine's, and Birthdays from now on. I also highly suggest leaving a tip. Of course it's not required but the tips go to the rollers, which is great because rolling all those gorgeous looking cigars and not smoking them all must be pretty hard on them! Plus...expertly hand rolled cigars? How awesome is that?? Overall, I really enjoyed my experience. I felt very welcomed and everyone was very helpful. Sometimes men can be difficult to buy gifts for. Luckily, most of-age men in my family are satisfied with a good cigar and good scotch. I've only recently discovered Santiago after driving/walking past it thousands of times on East Ave. So, finally being sick of the slim pickings of sketchy smoke shops, I finally went in. Very interesting story behind the place, and they roll most of the cigars that they keep in the place. The owner imports tobacco from the Dominican Republic and the staff rolls on-site. A lot of the cigars are more mild, but they're fresh. They also will roll for special events like bachelor parties, weddings, etc, etc... The staff is very knowledgable on their product. I priced a few humidors as well, they have a pretty decent selection between small and larger ones and sell different humidifying gadgets for them. Very pleased with my purchases. read more

These people are Angels on Earth. I was low on funds, and had a "huge" opportunity to have dinner with a potential investor that night, whom I was working with for 2 months - and mind you, I have been trying to raise money for my company for 5 years. Anyway, I promised the investor cigars, and I was broke, but after telling Anita and the Owner my story they were more than happy to credit me the money for a few days until I get paid so that I could get my (actually quality cigars, they don't skimp), and I was on my way to my investor meeting with a skip in my step and two quality cigars in my pocket and a smile on my hopeful face!!! Found this shop an a business trip to the area this August. At first I was disappointed that they didn't carry the brands I usually smoke, only their own. I came to realize this was their strength. There is a modest lounge area with chairs, stools and a TV. Tables and chairs out front during the nice weather. I sat down to smoke and everyone was welcoming and included me in their conversation. When I left I purchased a bundle of the "Big G" cigars for my upcoming fishing trip. All my fishing mates were impressed with the quality for price of the sticks. I am now back in the area on business and have "hung out" there each evening enjoying the smokes and the people. Any time I am in the area, I will visit Santiago! read more

I walked in today to try a cigar and perhaps have a couple boxes made with my companies logo to gift to valued clients. As I was looking, someone who looked like he came in off the street (tank top and shades on) and I can only describe as confronted me in the humidor and looked like he wanted to fight. He stated he was one of the owners - he obviously never learned the customer is always right. He seemed to have a chip on his shoulder and practically accosted me because I did not need his help. I decided to put the cigar back and leave and he continued to loudly tell the other owner that I was rude. Not worth going to be treated this way - can't see them being in business too long as I was the only patron. makes you wonder how they think they can attract new customers acting like a bully. read more

fantastic hand rolled cigars! watching the cigar rollers make these masterpieces right in front of you while you smoke one is quite the experience! I walked into the shop just to check it out and the owners were both there, Extremely nice guys and very knowledgable and helpful. now when I come in, the guys treat me like family.
