Hands down one of the best dining experiences I've had in a long time! Jose Tequilas absolutely blew me away -- from the moment we walked in, the vibe was upbeat, warm, and inviting. You could feel the energy of the place -- fun music, colorful decor, and an atmosphere that made you want to sit back and enjoy yourself. The service was incredible -- our server was friendly, attentive, and on top of everything without being overbearing. What really stood out, though, was the teamwork among the staff. You could tell everyone was in sync, helping one another to make sure every table was well taken care of. It made the whole experience feel smooth and welcoming. And the food? Wow. Authentic, flavorful, and absolutely delicious. Everything we ordered tasted fresh and homemade, from the chips and salsa to the sizzling fajitas and perfectly seasoned tacos. You can tell they put love and pride into every dish. If you're looking for a place that delivers amazing food, top-tier service, and a fun, festive vibe -- Jose Tequilas is it. We'll definitely be back soon!

José Tequilas has been my "go-to" Mexican restaurant for many years due to the great food and exceptional service. Since I was craving authentic, Carne Asada Tacos on a Tuesday (Taco Tuesday lol), I headed straight to the restaurant and was so happy I did. We were greeted right away as soon as we walked in and followed the server to our table. The restaurant is always very clean, which I love, and the servers are so welcoming. I knew exactly what I wanted to order, Carne Asada Tacos, and I swear the food came out in 10 minutes flat! The tacos were absolutely delicious and the carne asada was very flavorful, per usual. My only suggestion would be to double the tortillas so they don't fall apart or possibly serve the tacos with a tad bit less meat. By the end of my meal, I was eating the tacos with a fork lol. The rice and refried beans were just as great. José Tequilas never disappoints and is a great place for amazing food and drinks!!! This location has ample outdoor seating, which will really be nice in the warmer months. Definitely try them out if you haven't been! You will not be disappointed!!!

So good we came twice! Literally came here on the way to our airbnb. I love Mexican and we picked this place at random. There were 3 of us on Thursday and we came back on Saturday with 8. Thursday we made it for happy hour. I got the house margarita (pictured). It was the perfect size to only need one. I ordered the spinach enchiladas and honestly forgot to take a picture because I was so excited to eat after traveling. As an appetizer we also had their queso. Everything was perfect. They even sang me happy birthday and brought me a shot (I think a lemon drop). We talked about the food with the friends who hadn't made it yet and they wanted to go so we ran it back on Saturday. We were sat immediately both days. Even with large parties they were very accommodating. They had a back room where we sat and then an even larger party was seated beside us. They, too, were celebrating birthdays. It was great energy in the room. Service was quick and everyone's order was correct a small but important detail especially with large parties. I would definitely recommend this place. I went twice in 3 days. I clearly loved it.

Fast! Friendly! Fantastic! Beautiful restaurant. Has the capacity for large groups. Love their Carne Asada fries!

My bill was 182.03, because I paid by credit card. Originally it was 176.73. I had taken my family out to celebrate (3/22/2025). Just looked at my checking account, mind you, I filled out the receipt and didn't leave a tip because of that extra charge...they charged me 212.03 I won't be going there ever again

Birria tacos on burrito tortillas. Very sloppy and disappointing

Worst birria tacos I've ever had. They put them on burrito sized tortillas and they were so big and sloppy that you couldn't even eat them. If you do decide to give this place a try- order something else. Very disappointed

First off, the ambiance here is amazing. You're greeted with smiles and the staff make you feel very welcomed here. We were seated quickly and the smell of the place was fantastic. Looking around, the decor was very pleasing. Ordering was quick. Our server was very nice and made sure we had our drinks. He didn't miss a beat with the food. And then there's the food. No words can describe just how delicious the food is here. The chips, the enchiladas, the fajitas, and then the dessert! Oh the dessert was so GOOD! We will definitely be coming back again. Is it worth the money? Yes. Yes it is.

Moving to this side of town, we knew there was a Jose Tequilas as we had one on the Salem side of town. Over there, it was...ok. The flavor is decent, drinks are pretty good but it never truly hit like we wanted it to. Coming over here and seeing it always packed had us wondering how different it was in comparison. I asked a few friends that lived on this side what were the best Mexican spots on this side of town and they named a few other places with one friend stating "by far Jose is the best". With Lucky Oyster being one of my wife's favorite places to hang that always has BUDLIGHT cold, great deal and available, it was hard to venture over to Jose. It was also the fact that we rarely go out to Mexican as she is not a tequila fan and the kids don't eat it much. We did surrender and try a different restaurant first. That one had GREAT drinks that was worth every penny but the food was so salty, you could barely eat it. Almost to the point of being uneatable. The flavor was good but I could feel my blood pressure rising and that alone made us not want to return. The second place we tried had most of our new neighbors talking about that spot. It has a lovely location but the difference being the opposite of the other restaurant. It was much lower on the sodium profile with the flavors almost needing more. The prices were a bit high as well but I would much rather have that vs the high sodium. Don't get me wrong, It was a clean flavor that would fit for many but we felt it could have just a tiny bit more. Easily something you could add on your own but this is not about that restaurant. After a few months passing by, I finally made it over to Jose. When I first made it over, I was with a buddy for lunch and we sat at the bar (the yelp pic of this location is what I ordered). The drinks were AWESOME but how I knew right away this was going to be good was the flavor of the chips and dips. That says so much right off the top. It had spice, it was extremely fresh, the white sauce was made just right.. ummm so delicious putting me in the mood for the lunch meal. I ordered the Texano lunch burrito and when that came out, I was blown away! It was massive but most importantly, the flavors were spot on for my taste. It had the right amount of salt, cheese, heat, all of it was spot on as I was chowing down. I couldn't get through it all which I was glad I didn't because I was so stuffed from the chips and dip, the massive strong margarita and that humungous burrito, I needed a nap hahahah. I told the wife "this was the place" and the next time we tried Mexican together, we needed to hit this up. Well, that happened on a little date night and she immediately agreed it had the best flavor and sitting outside was good people watching even though it faces the street. You see so much of what people are doing in the cars it's quite hilarious or unbelievable. She wasn't a fan of the dips but couldn't knock how well done it was. She doesn't take to heat well but for me, I was dang near drinking it! Now I will say, I did notice the price change and that threw me back a little but I also understood with inflation and everywhere had to raise in some fashion but my only gripe with that was the size difference as well. I ordered the Cowboy Burrito that should have been just as massive as a LUNCH burrito but it came out half the size and almost flattened. You can see that in my pics. I am not saying it wasn't absolutely delicious but I am saying I was a little dissappointed with the price increase but volume decrease. Either way, it was a nice time visiting with the wife outside and we still say if you want the best flavor (in our opinion), this spot has that. Some may like it more salty and some may like it more on the cleaner side. You have that variety around this area but for me, this one has the right spice, salt, cheesy flavor with amazing sauces with a cool vibe. Oh, let me not forget to mention THE BEST MARKEE SIGN AROUND! Their sign out front is hilarious. You will have to see for yourself what I mean along with giving this place a try if you haven't. Totally worth it. ENJOY!

¡Viva la Raza! I can always counts on my Mexicans to come through in the clutch! José Tequilas isn't even claimed on Yelp so we can all pretty much say whatever we want. The Virginia Beach area is an absolute train wreck for dinner during the summer. My buddy Dan and I walked in and out of 2 other restaurants before we settled for José Tequilas. What's going on? Why aren't restaurants adequately staffed? Supply chain issues, pandemic fatigue, welfare queens, people don't want to work, living wage, too busy collecting unemployment, rich parents, OnlyFans, too good for the food service business, blah blah blah blah blah blah blah. I'm over it. Bottom line. My people know how to HUSTLE. Not complain; just get it done. The Mexican way. Thanks José for feeding us that night. It's not hard right? Take the order and deliver the food. Is that worth $25/hour? No. Is it worth way more than $5/hours? Absolutely. What's it matter anyway. I'm the one tipping over 25% to pay them not you. Chinga tu madre.

Great mexican spot! Very friendly, quick, and attentive service. They have a great outdoor seating area. This place has the best cocktails, especially their margaritas!! And you can't beat their entrees- awesome flavors and awesome portions!! It's no wonder they are popping up everywhere!

I'm a chef myself and travel to different restaurants regularly, so I try to be understanding. That said, the service we experienced yesterday at Stock Pot was unfortunately some of the worst I've had in quite a while. We sat outside, and it honestly felt like we were being deliberately ignored. The restaurant wasn't busy, yet we had to wait long stretches just to get basic things. At one point near the end of our meal, we asked for a box and our check. Instead of bringing it over, the waitresses stood around talking with other waitresses, while we continued to wait. After sitting there for quite a while, we eventually had to ask for the check and box, a second time. Throughout the meal the service was inconsistent. We had three different waitresses checking on us, but were left to sit for about 30 minutes alone at one point, and it took almost 20 to have our order taken, once we ordered, we had to request our appetizer again, after waiting another 20 or so minutes. Upon asking, again, we found out they were out of part of the appetizer we ordered. After that it came out quick. The food, however, was excellent and definitely the highlight of the experience. That's why this review is disappointing to write -- the kitchen is clearly doing a great job. I just hope the service side improves, because it didn't match the quality of the food.

I ended up on the combo of their soup and salad since their soup also sounded good. I was hesitant on the strawberries in the wine country salad since I know they're not in season really, but they were lovely. Everything in the salad worked well together and the dressing was nice and vinegary while still tasting of raspberries. It was very well balanced except for the ratio of toppings to greens. I feel as though there was just a little too much toppings. It could've used more leafs. As for the soup, it was a little bland, but after adding salt and pepper it tasted nice. It was mostly soup rather than crab or corn though. That was my only critique really, the temperature was good as well. It could've used some crackers on the side, but it wasn't necessary, just would've been a nice touch. Our waitress was quite nice, checked up on us and got us refills. All of our food came out together and hot. The sandwiches on other people's plates all looked wonderful, and after having a shoestring fry, I can definitely say next time I will be ordering some of those. As far as ambiance goes, it was nicely lit but still moody, which was appreciated. Very chill in there. Only reason I rate it 3 stars is because I feel as though there's room for improvement food wise, and price wise. $20+ for almost everything on the menu is pretty ridiculous. Even for some of the simple items. I don't think the food is that good, proportionately appropriate, or creative to be that much money. Maybe it's just me, but that's how I feel. I'll probably be back to try more items, I'd recommend coming here at least once to try if you haven't, during happy hour to get the best prices if you can.
