Went here for cinco de mayo and it was packed. Waited 30 minutes for a table but were able to sit at the bar and wait. They were very good at refilling the chips and salsa/white sauce while we waited. Not pictured since I devoured everything and forgot to take a picture but the food was really delicious. I got the deluxe burrito which came with two large burritos and also had a birria taco. Not the best birria I've ever had but was still pretty good 4/5. I did get a picture of the reason I came here which was the soft serve margarita. It was pineapple flavored so tasted exactly like a dope whip with alcohol 10/10. Was pretty loud in there with a birthday, multiple large parties and the o all round business of cinco de mayo. Overall I would recommend this location but mainly for the soft serve margarita which I haven't been able to find this side of the water. read more

Stopped in for dinner on a Tuesday. Had to try the tacos. The staff really stood out as they were quick, friendly and attentive. There were three birthdays that the crew went over and sang an enthusiastic happy birthday for, so it may be a popular place to host a birthday party (not sure if the shots of tequila were free for the b-day guest). The menu had something for everyone, but was easy to choose from. The tacos and margarita weren't anything crazy (not quite a Cali street taco) but I asked for fresh jalapeños and hot sauce (made in house) and it put the finishing touches on my dinner. I'll try a few other places while I'm in town, but Jalisco is my front runner so far. read more

I came in with high hopes, but unfortunately, this place didn't live up to them. I ordered the birria, and the consommé had no flavor at all -- completely bland, which was really disappointing. The restaurant seems very understaffed, and the few employees they do have are clearly overworked. As a result, tables that were already done eating stayed dirty since we got there until we left, and service was noticeably slow. Margaritas WERE BAD no measure while the SERVER was making them, I saw everything. I also tried to address my concerns with the manager, but he was unprofessional and dismissive. It's a shame, because the place has potential, but they really need to improve the food quality, service, and management. Plenty of parking when you can't get to the waterfront spots and you're hungry! We were greeted with a smile and "how are you?" and sat right away in a nice booth. We ordered Dos Equis dark on draft and also got a kids water and two tall waters within 5 minutes. We also got crispy and flavorful tortilla chips, spicy salsa and a cold queso style dip which was spicy too! Our order consisted of two lunch combos, one with beef taquitos and beef taco and smother with a burrito and taco. Combos come with rice and your choice of black or refried beans. They even let you order most toppings as sides (for your kids!) if they don't eat tacos so we ordered our kid a side of avocado and a side of refried beans. It was a whole sliced avocado too which was awesome for $4. The meals came out quickly and really hot. Plates were really hot to the touch as the food runner has oven gloves up to his upper arm to carry and serve them. Well, I have gone back and forth about this but decided a review was needed. We stopped by on the 4th of July for lunch. Our waitress was VERY nice, very attentive. The food was-- meh. Bland. My husband got 3 birria tacos, I ordered flautas and a cheese quesadilla for our 14 month old. While waiting for our food my husband went to the bathroom. He came back and said "there's a giant roach in the bathroom" I said "is it dead?" to which he replied no. He walked over to the bar and told 2 guys working and they said "oh wow, thanks for not making a scene". We got our food, asked for the check and left. No manager came to talk to us, we paid our full tab no sweat. I just think I would rather pay $50 for lunch somewhere bug free. And I wish management had at least come over to talk to us. read more

We ate here on a busy Saturday night. Decided the three of us would sit at the bar. A local recommended the margaritas. Got the top shelf and two regular. They were OK. The chips were warm and the salsa good. We ordered a cheese dip with shrimp and chorizo. Dip was very good. Ordered the enchiladas and the Jalisco burrito. Both were good and great with the salsa. A few good recent visits under the new name...but my understanding ownership never changed hands, but management did. Parking is challenged on weekends. The dining room is comfy and same as previous. Fantastic service with free warm chips and two types of sauce. Don't be shy about asking for more. The guacamole is respectable. Entrees of burritos combos yum. Tequila Jalisco is a decent Mexican restaurant on shore drive. It offers all of the things one would expect from a Mexican restaurant in Virginia Beach. The margaritas are large and they have a machine for the frozen margaritas. The frozen margaritas are too sweet for me but the drink will creep up on you. The Cali burrito was delicious and was the best thing from my experience. Their lunch special is a fantastic value and you get a decent amount of food. However, the shredded chicken on the chicken taco did not have flavor. All in all it's a decent Mexican spot and if you are in the area for lunch and want a cheap meal this is the place to go! read more

No happy hour but lots of offerings for margaritas... skinny, organic, frozen or on the rocks... original, jumbo, monster and dui (yes DUI, lol). Wide selection of combo platters, fajitas, street tacos and a large a la carte menu. Everyone in our party of five found something to their liking. Food arrived quickly, was accurate and very hot! This was my first visit to Tequila Jalisco. Last time I was here was during lockdown right after the restrictions were lifted and it was still Guadalajara. Upon entering I couldn't tell any difference. The place looks exactly the same as it did under the old name. We arrived early before the dinner crowd and had our choice of seats and took a window booth facing Shore Drive. Immediately a man appeared and took our drink order and gave us menus. He came back a few minutes later with those and took our order. That was the last time we saw him. The food was served by another person. I tried their Mexican pizza which came with a side of guacamole and another of some white sauce. I also had a beef taco on the side. The date had a burrito of sorts smothered in queso and some other sauce. The food was okay but not great. There was no zest to it. Taco Bell's recently returned Mexican pizza is much better. In fact I have to say I liked Guadalajara much better and not sure that I'll be back. Oh, the check was delivered by a third person. read more

I will not give this restaurant 5 stars. I give it 10!! From the very beginning to the very end they've impressed me 100%. I needed a table for 18 people on a Saturday evening for my daughter's birthday dinner. When I called in advance they told me they do not take reservations, however they were willing to "hold" the table if we were to make sure we were there on time. Of course we made sure we did! We had one server, Emilio and let me tell you, he was amazing! He was fast, all our orders were correct, and he kept our drinks filled. All our food was delicious! Even with such a large party our food came out faster than we expected. The restaurant was clean and vividly decorated. They had an outdoor patio area for dining outside. One of the servers were actually nice enough to follow our party outside to take some group pictures of us. We had a lovely time here. Good was delicious, fast, and all came out right. I just wish they were closer to us. We are definitely making this our go to Mexican when in the area! read more

We always stop here for some filling Mexican eats after a long sunny day at the beach. The service is always quick, the wait staff is polite, and the drinks are VERY strong. The food is your typical Mexican fare, nothing special, but decent portions. They were attentive in making sure our table had as much chips and salsa as we could possibly eat! Whoa. I've been here several times but tonight tried different item than my regular ones and HAD to review. Hands down the BEST ceviche I've ever had (and I've eaten it around the world). The service was really quite terrible in the beginning. We couldn't get a drink menu and took forever to get waters and then place orders. After that things improved and we were a large group so I appreciate that they let us split up the checks. I had a carnitas quesadilla with some rice and avocado. It was good and I couldn't finish it. The chips and salsa were solid as was the white sauce which we don't see very often. Some of the meat was super fatty to the point of being inedible but it was a different dish. The skinny margarita was good and the margarita prices are pretty awesome. read more

I have several years experience as a bartender and the cocktails here are awful and have no balance. If I wanted straight tequila I would have ordered it on the rocks or in shot form, the point of a mixed drink is to make it palatable. If getting smashed is your flavor this might be your new favorite place. The drinks are not measured, most of the liquor bottles don't even have pour spouts - it is quite frankly, all a guessing game. Quick dinner with a buddy. Food was typically fast and hot. I ordered the carne asada first, it came with rice and beans. The carne was okay, but for the price there could've been a larger portion I felt. Still hungry I ordered three beef hard tacos and three chicken soft tacos. These came out decently quick but weren't as hot and I'm wondering if they got thrown together super last minute due to wait staff bustling around. This place seems like a very family-oriented restaurant, given the tolerance shown to kids screaming, climbing on booths and babies crying. The menu is extensive but the quality and taste was very disappointing. The regional white sauce (served only in Virginia) was inedible and the remainder of the food was bland. It was, however, served in an amazingly short amount of time. There were no condiments, spices or even salt or pepper on the table and the table itself was sticky and gross. Had the kids meals... chicken taco and the the chicken enchilada both with rice and beans. Perfect quantity for 4 and 5 yo kid to each have their own. I tried the street tacos per servers recommendation, shrimp, tuna and was supposed to be fried shrimp (not sure exactly what I got).
