Okay, what's the hipe. Small restaurant. Plain decore with tight 3 - 4 table seating. The menu is the hype! Different exotic choices to chose from. I wanted to try them all. Lol I did go during dinner time, and the dishes are of average prices. The service was fine. I ordered "Chuleta" the pork was tasty comes, with side salad and rice. The "Conch salad" was yummy and big portions. I would definitely come back and try there other exotic dishes.

1st time here and I'm so glad I tried it. They only have 2-3 tables so it's more of a takeout place. We ordered the fried pork with white rice n bean with fried sweet plantains. We also ordered the shaved beef plate with white beans n rice and plantains. The beans were deliciously flavored. The empanadas were so tasty and made fresh, ordered one beef one chicken. They came with a cream sauce but I asked for the red spicy sauce as well. Pro tip: order ahead as they get busy.

Whaat? Consistency is key and this restaurant definitely consistently serves absolutely amazingly seasoned food! Service is very friendly and personal. Ambiance is very cozy, typical hidden gem in the neighborhood. Third time here in 3 weeks - this time I ordered the conch salad served with tostones (last time they ran out of tostones). My son ordered the beef and cheese empanada and beef with rice and beans sides. There were a couple of Puerto Rican military guys snd a family of 4, and tons of door dash orders being picked up - now you know that's indication of authentic cuisine! Highly recommended, there's plenty to try!

Ever had a place so good and so tiny you didn't want to write the review for fear that the place would explode with business and you wouldn't be able to get a place to sit anymore? Well that's El Borinacano! This place was delicious and super affordable. We had the chicharron de pollo and a couple of empanadas. It was delicious, filling and cheap. Make sure you try the homemade hot sauce. It is wonderfully fresh and adds a nice kick. The service was excellent and everyone in the joint was smiling. Now if YOU go.... Get your food to go so I can still get a table.

Peaceful meal, the food was like a literal hug from my abuelita, and the lady at the counter had patience with my broken Spanish (I get rusty) Signed A Puerto Rican

I'm obsessed with mofongo so I looked for a Puerto Rican spot for my birthday dinner. The whole fried red snapper photo made me drool a lil bit so I decided to check it out. Very small space with a few tables. Looks like a local spot in PR. Felt bad for coming 45 min prior to closing but the young lady greeted us with kindness. Fried cheese was fire!! Didn't even need a dipping sauce. I prefer my mofongo a lil crispy on the outside but I don't think I've ever had bad mofongo. Beef was tender and juicy like it had been stewing all day soakin up the flavors. Will definitely visit again!

Fried pork (how do they get it to be this flavorful and juicy?), sweet plantain, red beans and rice.

Excellent Puerto Rican cafe! I can't believe it's not crazy busy all the time - maybe people haven't discovered it yet?? The food is always delicious. And very reasonably priced! Lunch menu is $13.50 for entree and 2 sides, including a drink. So far my favorite menu item is the pulled pork. For sides, I prefer the rice and beans, and I alternate between the fried plantains and the sweet plantains. Get the pink sauce if you go for the fried plantain...reminds me of potato fries with a ketchup/mayo dip (I also like to dip my fried plantain in the red beans). Give this place a try...you won't regret it! Try everything bc I have almost tasted the entire menu now and still haven't found anything I haven't wanted to order again.

We were in town from Richmond for a shopping trip and decided to stop here for dinner. Food was very authentic, flavorful, and delicious. Small place, three small tables and had to wait about fifteen minutes but the wait was worth it. The Alcapurrias had a very thin masa but enough to have a good amount of meat. My daughter had the mofongo, I had the Pernil and my husband had the chicharron de pollo, again very delicious. If in town definitely check it out.

I have been to a few Puerto Rican restaurants in the Virginia Beach and Norfolk areas of Virginia and by far this place has been 2/2 thus far. You would never think this little "hole in the wall" spot would have such delicious food. I had a "pollo guisado" which is basically stew chicken and was surely pleased by the warmth and flavor the food had. Jose is the hostess and he is super chiLLax and EMario is the chef who was also very humble. The food was plated nicely and had everything you would expect in a plate of "pollo guisado" with lettuce , tomatoes, white rice and red beans . I felt as though my Grandmother had cooked it and plated it for me (I'm sure she was happy to see me eating this amazing food from Heaven where she lives (God rest her soul).

We ordered the Cubano and Pastrami Sandwiches , A side of Maduros , Sorullo De Queso and a Malta Malteada . The food was amazing and reminded me of home. Everything was hot and freshly cooked and made, the fries that came with my food were so crispy and tasted really good. Lastly the Malteada was so good I didn't even get a chance to take a picture of it because I couldn't put it down. Overall amazing place to eat, lady that attended us was super nice and helpful, the place was clean and had some good music playing, highly recommended!

Free bread, and it was sooo good!

El Borincano has been open a little over a month, located where La Yaroa Dominican used to be. Here, they serve authentic Puerto Rican food and it's delicious! It's owned by a husband and wife and the wife who served us was very sweet! I enjoyed everything from there, including the complimentary bread! I ordered off the lunch special and got the fried pork chop. It's a really great deal- it comes with a salad, white or yellow rice and beans and a drink for $6.75. I don't usually order pork chops and I always stick to the traditional bistec encebollado (which they also have), but the pork chop had the right amount of crisp and flavor to it. I also ordered a beef empanada and that didn't disappoint either. If you've ever visited La Yaroa, you know how limited seating may be. And this hasn't changed with the space. Of course, carry-out is always available. Although I did enjoy La Yaroa, service was not as speedy and pleasant as it is at El Borincano's. I would definitely return, service and food was excellent and the owner was so warm and gracious!

Amazing and filling! service is great! new favorite!! Never disappointed with my meal!

So on a Thursday evening l picked up 2 combo specials from Capicu. It was Buy one get one free. Each combo was 22 dollars. I ordered off of the website for pick up. l ordered the Pernil (roasted pork) with white rice, beans and sweet plantains and my second combo was the pollo asado with rice with pigeon peas and tostones . On my way to pick up i got a call stating that they were out of the chicken (totally understandable since it was close to closing time ) So I opted for the beef empanadas. I appreciate the customer service of them calling me before I got there and giving me different options. Upon arrival I was uncomfortable with the smell. Not sure if it was old oil and grease but it was pleasant. I received my food (which was so plentiful when I checked in the car.) However , the smell of the food , was as if the oil that it was prepared with was old. Not pleasant at all. Smelled up my entire car. Finally home to taste the peril was just okay 4/10 it tasted old and like it in fact had been prepared or reheated with dirty oil. The sides and empanadas were not bad. 7/10

A Little Piece of Colombia in VA Beach…read more If you're Colombian (or just love real, soulful food), Bilu's Colombian Restaurant in VA Beach is an absolute must. From the moment we walked in, it felt like home--warm, welcoming, and full of corazón. Shoutout to Camila, our server, because baby... she went above and beyond. Attentive, kind, knowledgeable, and genuinely happy to make sure we had the best experience. That kind of service hits different. Now let's talk food, because whew ‍ We started with empanadas de pollo--crispy, flavorful, and perfect. My son ordered the pargo marinado with a jugo de lulo en leche (chef's kiss), and I had the carne en salsa criolla with a jugo de guanábana en leche that tasted exactly like back home. No shortcuts. No watered-down flavors. Just real Colombian goodness. To finish strong, we had a cafesito en leche with pandebono, and honestly... I could've cried. That's how authentic it was. As if that wasn't enough, we stopped by La Tiendita inside the restaurant and grabbed our favorites: Arequipe Alpina (porque obvio) and Manzana Postobón--our forever favorite soda. My son even picked up a Colombian national team jersey, which made the experience even more special. We left full, happy, and already planning to come back for breakfast Bilu's isn't just a restaurant--it's a whole Colombian experience. Gracias, Camila. Gracias, Bilu's. Nos vemos pronto.

Bilu's Colombian Restaurant & Rotisserie Chicken is located off Newtown RD in Virginia Beach. I…read moreattempted to visit a few weeks ago for dinner to try their Rotisserie chicken but unfortunately they were sold out so I recently returned again on a Friday during lunch for another attempt. When I entered I was greeted right away and was given a menu and I let them know I would like to place an order to go.  Service was great and the wait staff was very friendly and took my order immediately.  The dining room was very spacious with plenty of tables and they had bar seating available. While I waited for my food I decided to walk over to the bakery that was attached to the restaurant. The bakery sells a bunch of different Colombian/Spanish baked goods, snacks and frozen items. They also had a section setup similar to a gift shop that had purses, hats, clothing and souvenirs that you would mostly find if you were in Columbia which I found to be a nice and unique addition.  I ordered the half rotisserie chicken with coconut rice, fried cassava, and sugar cane juice with lime To-go. Unfortunately, I was very disappointed with the quality of my meal. My chicken lacked flavor and tasted as though it had been reheated rather than freshly prepared. The wing was so dry and dehydrated that it was inedible; only the leg and thigh were moist. Additionally, the coconut rice was significantly undercooked and excessively sweet, to the point that I could not eat it. The fried cassava was served in very large pieces that remained undercooked. The Sugar cane juice was a dark brown color and had a sour taste, suggesting it was not fresh.  Fresh sugarcane juice should be a greenish- yellow color and only turns brown after it oxidizes which changes the quality and is not what I expected.  I have heard great things about this restaurant and hope my experience is not the norm. While I am interested in other menu items, I am currently hesitant about when I might return.
