Came here on a whim- surprised to find a cigar bar in Gainesville. Place was empty for a Saturday afternoon. Unfortunately the cigar selection was limited and there's no walk in humidor- the bar maid basically gets the cigar for you . Got 2 cigars and espresso martini's . Both were good. Place has a nice ambiance but like aforementioned, limited cigar choice if that's your reason for coming - which on Saturday was the only reason we stopped by. On May 3, 2025 my sister and I were excited to visit but we went totally ignored and received no service at all, although we sat right at he bar. We were not acknowledged what so ever but people to the left and right and all around were greeted and served. After awhile we said let's see if she does it again and sure enough we went unnoticed. By far this is my favorite place downtown. Don't get me wrong, I love Sidecar. I use to frequent Boca Fiesta but haven't been in years. The Top post COVID just hasn't done it for me anymore. Havana's is a cozy little bar in the old Half Corked/ next to Lillian's. Yes it is a cigar bar. They have several decent picks from Rocky Patel and standard Ashton etc. The drinks are usually very good including their Old Fashioned's. They do have a wine self serve station when working and that's a nice little option. I highly recommend this place if looking for a nice place to sit and enjoy a drink and people watch though. read more

I've been to many cigar bars/ lounges since the early 90s (different states, including Florida) and have been smoking cigars since 1976, so I'm speaking from knowledge and experience. Also, I've been here many times, but don't stay too long (Maybe one cigar) for the reasons cited below. A "real" cigar smoker will never buy their cigars from a cigar lounge/bar lounge, regularly.... The prices are usually very inflated, and rightfully so because they are geared to an occasional smoker.... It's worthy to note that a "real" cigar smoker will NEVER let anyone cut or light their cigar. Now my humble opinion.... Pros: if you're "lucky" to get a chair outside, it is amusing and entertaining to watch the college kids walk by in their chosen attire. And if you like watching sports, there's usually football and basketball on the TVs with ample couches and seating. Happy hour is from opening to 6 maybe 7 with drinks being half the usual price. Cons: They don't open till 5 PM are closed Sundays and all holidays. They don't have Internet. Being "lucky" to get a chair outside, the homeless will want to "talk" with you then ask for money. The music is mostly rap and hip-hop. Occasionally street musicians will be playing adding to the annoyance of the rap and hip-hop. The ventilation inside is sometimes questionable. The cigar selection is very limited.. Most of the ones I've been to have about a 20' x 20' walk-in humidor. This is not a cigar bar to relax with a cigar, a drink and watch sports. Their operational times and closings I'm sure reflect the fact that it's in a college town....Too bad :( The before warned is the before armed....... Go and see for yourself, your perception and likings may be different than mine. read more

My friend and I stopped in for a cigar and drinks. The bartender, an older blonde woman, half smiled at us and then walked to the other end of the bar to chat with customers. We sat there TEN MINUTES waiting for her to serve us, speak to us, anything. She never came over to us so we left. Horrible service. Havana's Wine and Cigar Bar is a great hang in downtown Gainesville. My husband and I went with a friend for the first time this past Friday for a little "happy hour" after work. The Cigar Bar is a casual setting with a sophisticated feel. There were a few customers hanging at 5pm, but overall it wasn't crowded or noisy. It was the perfect place to relax and have great conversation. There's a large selection of cigars to choose from. I didn't smoke one, I just tried my husband's. The employees were very helpful in giving recommendations for what he should try. He was able to get a cigar he enjoyed for about $10. I had a glass of Cabernet (great pours from the bartender) for $5.25 each. It was a full bar, and for happy hour they had $1 off cocktails. My husband had some sort of whiskey drink that he enjoyed. We laughed, we relaxed, and it was a good time. We will definitely be back thanks to the quality of the place and great service that we experienced! read more

Great ventilation, reasonably priced cigar selection, nice bourbon options, and a great ambience to enjoy some of the finer things in life. Staff was knowledgeable, attentive, personable, and helpful. I loved this place. I was amazed at the cigar prices. More than fair and cheaper than one has any right to expect in a place of this caliber. Same with the whiskey! 2 finger pour of High West American Prairie for under $7? That's awesome! Was in on Friday night and had a great experience. This place is sorta new as it used to just be a wine bar and now they have extended into a wine and cigar bar. I had a great time at this place and the drinks and cigars were wonderful. I enjoyed a Old Fashioned and the house whiskey is Buffalo Trace! What a great house whiskey to have for all to drink. I was very surprised and it tasted great. The bartender did a wonderful job making this drink. I also wanted a cigar and after asking the bar tender he was able to provide the cigar that would best fit this drink. I loved that they did that. The cigar helped the flavor of the drink, it was great. The location is great for this place and they have valet parking complimentary. Also, the inside is so nice. They have very large coaches to sit on, tons of matches to use, and other things as well. I was very happy with this place and really think that people should go check them out. I came in after going to the Farmer's Market that happens every Wednesday to ask for a cigar cutter. Upon entering with a friend of mine, I noticed the server behind the bar looking at us (two women, esp. women of color). There were maybe 6 people in the store so it was not crowded at all. My friend and I took a seat by the bar, but it took the server longer than expected to come by or even greet us. He put away liquor bottles and asked how two other women sitting at the bar were doing before coming to my friend and I. Once he came, I asked him if they sold cigar cutters. He said no they don't (which shocked my mind for a place that sells cigars). I asked if he knew where I could buy some. He told me of a couple of places in Gainesville. I went to this particular place because I was looking for a cutter other than the poorly made plastic ones everyone else sells. I asked if I bought cigars if he would cut them for me. He said yes. He asked me what I liked. In the middle of me speaking to him, an older white man extends his credit card. The server cuts me off and leaves to run the paying customer's card. Out of both white men, the only one to apologize for the interruption was the older white man. The server then responds with a "oh it's no problem". I originally wanted to stay and wait, but then realized that women shouldn't be treated this way. I can't help to think if it was a person of color and gender issue. This is no way to treat women, especially WoC. So my friend and I walked out of the door. We even stood outside of the store by the door. And the server never came outside to apologize. We had a nice time kicking back watching fight night. The humidor is stocked with some very nice choices. The bar is pretty good but could use a few more scotch and bourbon choices. Torches can be found at hand and you'll never be searching for one. There is a nice front porch area on the street to kick back and watch Gainesville walk by too. They had Blanton's; and for $9 - Nice! Had a great first 90% of the time, and then as everyone was leaving I began to walk in and ask for a water. One of the male bartenders (not the nice woman who waited on me that night) said "Sorry you've gotta leave." I said "Alright" with a bit of dissatisfaction :( I really NEEDED a water (2 bourbons). I leave the establishment an stood outside the doors, waiting for the bartender to funnel everyone out, when I asked politely again: "Any chance I could just get a water to go, I just tipped $10 ;)". The male bartender replied: "Get the f**k off the property.." Not a great tone to take with content-happy customers. There are only a few cigar bars in town, and this is probably the best one. GREAT environment. Spacious and filled with leather couches. Good cigar selection. It could be better, but as an amateur, I'm still far from having a cigar I've had before. GREAT staff, good at recommending cigars you'll probably like. They haven't steered me wrong yet. GREAT drink selection. Only thing they were missing on my last visit was a nice port, but they had more on the way, so that's forgivable. But they had Basil Hayden's Dark Rye, which is fantastic as a port subsititute. Highly recommend this place. Or better yet, stay away so there's always a free couch for me. :) read more

Stumbled across this place when looking for a bar downtown, which turned out to also be a cigar bar! Pretty cool venue in Gainesville and I may revisit next time I'm in town. There is a whole wall of cigars to choose from. The bartender was really friendly and helped recommend a cigar. The bartenders best friend was also there and was really friendly, striking up a conversation with us and even helping me when my cigar started to unwrap. There are many different types of seating like large soft leather couches and more intimate booths so you can come here with all sorts of group sizes. The sister bar next door is a cigarette bar, which has more "history" while Havana's is newer. Loved the vibe! Some people don't like the smoke inside but it's a cigar bar.. read more

I enjoyed happy hour at HWCB! The leather sofas are so soft and comfortable and the libations were uncompromising. Quite frankly I had two of the best high-end grown up cocktails I've ever had (Old Fashioned and Sidecar), for real. I have never been to a gentlemen's club before but this wine and cigar bar is reminiscent of what I imagine it would be and for about 90 minutes I felt really rich. I came here to celebrate my friends 21st birthday (which happened several days prior) and because their cocktail menu looked good online. When I arrived, it was not busy. I asked the bartender for a cocktail menu and she rudely snapped at me, "We don't have a cocktail menu", which was surprising to me because I saw one online and also could see one on the counter behind her. She then went into the back leaving the bar unattended for several minutes. We stood there waiting for her and when she came back, she asked for our IDs. She took my friends first, disappeared into the back again for a few more minutes and then came back to tell him she couldn't accept it because it had a mark on it. I couldn't see an issue with it. Overall, I got the feeling she just didn't want to serve us. That's her choice, but they've certainly lost my business for good unless I can guarantee she's not working there. I've been with them since the start. I was with them when they were across the street. They have good intentions and give them a try more than once. It's all we have in Gainesville! They need a good coffee service and real bartenders that know their drinks. Expanded hours for the daytime smoker with coffee would be nice as well. I've been to a few cigar bars in South Florida and I have to say that Havana's does a way better job. I don't know much about cigars, but when I asked for a medium bodied smoke and a whisky I was given Blanton's small batch bourbon and a cigar made by Olivia and both were INCREDIBLE. The cigar tasted great and was smooth and the bourbon as well. TBH it was the best bourbon I've ever drank. I had two glasses on the rocks plus a cigar and my bill was only $30 which was pleasantly surprising as I would have probably paid $50+ down south. The atmosphere was very nice too. It was an open room with a lot of space and very comfortable leather couches. TVs with sports on too. A bit smokey inside, but what do you expect at a cigar bar. The other patrons were very relaxed and easy going. Overall, I was very impressed not only with the drink and cigar recommendations, but with my overall experience. I left feeling very relaxed. After anchoring the adjacent corner to Dragonfly Sushi as Halfcorked Wine Bar, this new establishment decided to morph into a cigar bar that offers wine and cocktails. The problem is the morphing came at the expense of the customers who purchased 1/2 price deals to Halfcorked and found the new establishment would not be accepting them. Within a month of offering the deals Halfcorked was gone and Havana's was in business. The appearance is the deal was offered to help fund the "renovation" of the new business without any compensation to the buyers of the coupons. Just beware. I just moved to the area and have only been in twice, but one of the owners, Lee, was super hospitable both times and made the experiences good ones. I will definitely be back. So, we were having a good night there when a fight broke out in the bar. The management did absolutely nothing and let us sit there in the middle of the altercation. We asked them to take care of it and we were told "the people involved in the fight are cops" and kept taking orders and pretending like nothing was happening. I was confused how cops were fighting with another civilian while not in uniform and how management didn't seem to care to take ALL involved out of the bar for the safety of everyone else there but that's for another review. Then later in the night before the establishment closed we went back to try to retrieve something and were told "to get the f*** out" by the "manager" then she proceeded to have her boyfriend (who I might add that does NOT work there) get in our face and push us out and lock the door behind us. I asked her what her name was and she would not give it, obviously. Now how I wish they would have used that kind of force on the people actually causing a fight and drama about 2 hours earlier. If I could I would rate this place negative stars and of all the places in Gainesville this has been the place that has shown the least class. Absolutely disappointed. read more
