C'mon, people. It's Haven Brothers. Is it a true, objective, Michelin-style five-star dining experience? No. Absolutely not. But that completely misses the point of Haven Brothers. This place is a Providence institution, and sometimes you have to review a place for what it actually is rather than holding it to some ridiculous standard it never intended to meet. I used to frequent Haven Brothers pretty much every weekend when I was driving down to Rhode Island from college, and more nights than I can count eventually ended here. There was something about finishing a night out, wandering over to the trailer, climbing inside, ordering some food and standing around Providence with a collection of equally hungry people that just worked. Friday and Saturday nights could produce quite a cast of characters, too. You meet all kinds of people around Haven Brothers late at night, and honestly, that's part of the entertainment. There's also something genuinely fun about the place itself. It's not a conventional restaurant. You walk into the trailer, place your order, watch the food being prepared and take in all the history surrounding the place. Haven Brothers has been serving Providence from its mobile diner since the late 19th century, and there's something wonderfully old-school about the whole experience. The burger I had wasn't the best burger I've ever eaten, and I'm certainly not going to pretend it was. But it was big, it was good, it was satisfying, and after a long night out, that's really all I was asking of it. The prices are also refreshingly reasonable, especially considering how expensive everything has become. You can get a substantial meal without feeling like you need to take out a second mortgage, and the service is impressively fast. But here's the thing: you don't really come to Haven Brothers because you're searching for the finest hamburger in Rhode Island. You come because it's Haven Brothers. It's the trailer, the history, the late nights, the characters, the downtown location and the feeling that you're participating in something that's been part of Providence for generations. For me, there's a tremendous amount of nostalgia wrapped up in this place. I spent plenty of college weekends ending up here, and coming back now brings back that particular feeling of being young, staying out far later than you probably should, and deciding that greasy food at an absurd hour was somehow the perfect conclusion to the evening. So yes, I'm giving it five stars, even though I freely admit the burger itself isn't a five-star burger. Sometimes a place earns five stars because of what it means, not because every individual component is flawless. Haven Brothers is one of those places. It's a Providence institution, it's fun, it's affordable, the food is good, and the service is fast. If you're in Providence and you've never been, go experience it for yourself. Then you'll understand why people keep coming back. read more

Jordyn and Diego are doing a very good job with serving the people but after drinking people are just hungry and the do an excellent job dealing with these late night people. Haven brothers diner is a staple in Rhode Island so I was really excited to try it. Inside the diner, you can see pictures of famous people that visited. There is a menu outside so you can take a look at the options before you go in and order. I ordered the western burger with no bacon and mozzarella sticks. The burger buns was a roll and not the traditional bun. Thankfully no mold like a few reviews mentioned. I wish there were more bbq sauce and onions in the burger. The mozzarella sticks were good. One of my favorite places to grab a bite after a night out. Haven Bros is a Providence icon and have tons of pictures with celebrities that have stopped by. They operate out of a roomy food truck parked next to City Hall. Their menu is the basic late night drunk food, with burgers, hot weiners/dogs, chicken tenders, fries, and shakes. The shakes are delicious, they have pretty my h every flavor you can think of and in my opinion are the best part of the menu. Their food is usually satisfying, can be a bit hit or miss and is definitely a little pricier than it should be. After a night of having too much why not have more of what you probably shouldn't. We ordered a bunch of things to try them out. 1 hot dog with mustard and kraut was quickly eaten before I realized the kraut was cold. That is one way to serve it. The burger would have been better if I had another few pints before ordering it. I would also recommend dressing it up with lettuce tomato and anything else. A naked burger was like looking at someone who is too thin to be healthy. The fried dough was actually carnival or fair like and since I like those it was good. The shake was thick and flavored with a strawberry like substance. The root beer float was also good. So if fine dining is what you desire this is not the spot. Ordered a couple burgers off the food truck when I was in Bristol . They were completely inedible. Both burgers were completely raw . Blood ran into the buns turning them red. How can you give Haven Brithers anything but five stars? We went one night because we were craving diner food and were in the city. You could only go in one party at a time which made me feel very safe. Inside they were very kind and helpful. Mike got a couple of hotdogs which looked amazing although I am not a hot dog fan. I think that they could convince me to be a fan. I got a hamburger with all kinds of stuff on it and it was absolutely what I had been craving and absolutely delicious. We ate in the car which was so messy and so worth it. I got a regular size hamburger and I could eat about a third of it because it was so big and so full of goodies. It's located next to city hall with some plastic tables outside of their coach. First, as you arrive their is no parking so be aware of where to park. When we arrived, the people hanging out weren't the most hospitable and know there is no restroom around so take your hand sanitizer.
