    Weiner with ketchup and mayo
    Karla M.

I remember coming here years ago and not liking it too much, so I came again to reevaluate. I concluded that | just don't like their famous wieners topped with meat, onion, and celery salt. My friend ordered a wiener with just ketchup and mayo and that was tasty. I find that the ground meat doesn't have much flavor and instead dilutes the flavor of the wiener. The cheeseburger is delicous. My friend and I shared one but ended up getting another to share since we wanted more. The patty is grilled well (albeit thin), the cheese is melted, the lettuce and tomato are very fresh, and the mayo brings everything together. The fries were good, with a crispy outside and a soft inside. They do look pale, but don't let that fool you. The prices are affordable ($3 - $12), although it does add up since it's tempting to just keep ordering more "little" things. [[HIGHLIGHT]]They do have a parking lot on the side of the building and plenty of seating inside.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]It gives retro vibes, so you definitely travel back in time a couple decades when you walk in.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The staff is very efficient. They can handle multiple orders at once in a very timely manner.

    Amazing dogs

I'm from Michigan which I like to think is the chili dog capital of the United States. It's really hard to find a comparative chill dog outside of Michigan. However, I studied the photos from this place and I was like that looks like a Flint style Coney from Michigan and it is. It's a fantastic chilly dog. It's definitely five out of five stars I'll bring my friends and loved ones to this place when they visit I highly recommend going inside to eat and experience everything this place has to offer fantastic chili dogs. I'm so glad I found a place to scratch that chili dog itch for when I'm missing home in Michigan. Again, I highly recommend eating and inside the restaurant these guys were fantastic, efficient and friendly.

Delicious! The dogs, fries and coffee milk all fantastic! First time trying it and it totally lives up to all the hype! Must try!

What a cool little gem. The service was fast. [[HIGHLIGHT]]That old school vibe.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The food was good , the wiener had a good taste to it. I really enjoyed this place. Very cool

"Tasting Table" named the best hot dogs in all 50 States earlier this year, and their choice for Rhode Island was Olneyville New York System. Let's get some business out of the way. I've learned that in Rhode Island, one does not eat hot dogs. One eats hot wieners. And if you're really trying to fit in, you order it "All the Way". That's Mustard. Meat Sauce. Chopped White Onions. And celery salt. The wieners and buns are both steamed. I first heard the name Olneyville New York System earlier this year, and I thought, "That is quite a name." It turns out multiple places in Rhode Island use "New York System" in their name. A dime's worth of research suggests that "New York System" was probably marketing lingo meant to draw parallels with the popularity of Coney Island Hot Dogs. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Olneyville NYS looks like a 50's Style Diner, but the sign out front says 1946. So maybe a 40's Style Diner.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I ordered two "All the Way" and ate them at the corner. Olneyville's dogs are a proprietary blend of beef, veal and pork. After they're steamed, they hang out on a grill until someone orders. The dogs have the reputation of being snappy, but I'd describe them as plump. Good seasoning. The dogs and ingredients worked well together. I can see how people love this spot. 4.25 Stars for the hot dogs. .5 upgrade for the History.

I finally made to Olneyville N.Y SYSTEM R.I's Best Hot Weiner.

I was in Providence Rhode Island last month. I'm a hotdog fanatic. I came across Olneyville N.Y Systems on Yelp unfortunately I didn't make it there. I'm happy to say that I finally made it to Olneyville N.Y. Systems. I see why they are named the best weiners in Providence Rhode Island. I had one weiner all the way and the birthday boy had 3 with everything except mustard. I could've easily at 2 or 3. All the guys that work their were so down to earth. They brought a glass of their famous milk coffee for me to try. It was delicious and refreshing coming from someone that's lactose tolerant. [[HIGHLIGHT]]We also had a side of fries It's very clean inside.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]The ambiance is so nostalgic everyone was so friendly.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] And was sharing their childhood stories of there first time coming to Olneyville with their parents. Olneyville N.Y. Systems was established 1946. The guy I recorded preparing the hotdogs told me that the most hotdogs he prepared was 69. He has been employed with Olneyville since he was 18 years old. He told me that when he graduated from high school. His father told him that if he don't attend college he better join the Marine Corp he chose Olneyville instead he's been employed with them for 40 years. I would scream it to the mountains how great Olneyville N.Y Systems weiners are. If your in the Providence Rhode Island. You better make your way to Olneyville N.Y Systems enjoy the weiners and the guys that work there. To all my Yelpers let's continue to eat our way through the world.

Stopped in here with some friends at 1 am and this was exactly what we needed! The food was delicious, cheap, and worth every penny. Service was super quick and [[HIGHLIGHT]]the vintage interior is great![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

    Hot ri's best hot wiener

Olneyville New York System where have you been all my life? Traveled all the way from Hawaii to eat their famous wieners. Yes, wieners not hotdogs. This is the perfect hangover food. They're open late so you can get your fixed anytime during the day. Parking is a breeze as there is a big lot and and the service is great. [[HIGHLIGHT]]It's a typical Dino style restaurant with a long counter and several booths in the back.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] A Rhode Island wiener has beef, veal and pork in them. So the wiener is nice and juicy. The chili is mild and the salty onions are a perfect match for this wonderful bite. If you're ever in Rhode Island, this place is a must try although don't tell your internal medicine physician lol

Wow, what a great time I had at Olneyville during my previous visit to Rhode Island at the end of June. My brother-in-law demanded that we go here and my sister echoed his sentiments and brought us to this classic wiener eatery. We walked in and were greeted immediately and told we could sit anywhere. Then we were told we could just shout our order when we were ready. OK, I am totally here for this. [[HIGHLIGHT]]We sat at one of the booths that looked like it came straight out of a 1950's diner and looked at the menu items behind the counter.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The 4 of us decided what we wanted and began giving our order. Grilled Cheeses, sodas, burgers, and of course wieners. Since my sister (the pro) wasn't there yet, I made the mistake of asking for a plain hotdog for my son. The guy said, "we don't have hotdogs here." I immediately knew my mistake and said, "oh of course! One plain wiener please!" All through our lunch we had such fun interactions with the employees and watching them work was just as fun. Now, the food - delicious! We got the wieners all the way and omg, that's THE WAY to go. So flavorful and I could have probably eaten four more if it were up to me. The fries were delicious too. They have bottles of vinegar. Pour some vinegar on those bad boys and it just ups the game. The grilled cheese was grilled to perfection. The right amount of toastiness, and gooey cheese. My daughter loved her burger and we all left full and happy. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The old school diner vibe really sealed the deal while eating these amazing wieners.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I highly recommend stopping by Olneyville!

Double Weaner Special! Times two! "All the way!"
    Ariel L.

All the way special double weaner! Make sure to yell when you order. The milk coffee surprisingly goes well with it! (Not for the lactose intolerant). Friendly staff and a favorite of my daughter which now, is a favorite of mine! [[HIGHLIGHT]]Open until 3am![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Awesome casual place to dine with good food, fast service, and friendly staff![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] One of the best local gems!

    Wiener Special /SODA
    Mike C.

Super tasty dogs! [[HIGHLIGHT]]Excellent nostalgic atmosphere with the 50's decor, counter seats and booths.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Service is awesome, that local atmosphere and accent. Super friendly and the food is ready in minutes if not sooner. A must try spot!

    Gary G.

A coupla these wieners will hit the spot. Get 'em the way they come, with the full treatment of mustard, meat sauce (not chili), onions, and a heavy dose of celery salt. Unique combination of flavors that'll grab you on first bite. Must be paired with a coffee milk on tap. Yes, it goes. Yeah, even with onions. Fries are good too. The vibe is as important as the food, which is all pure Americana. Nick runs an incredible operation, taking orders, delivering orders, and wearing a huge smile the whole time. You can't help but enjoy yourself here. Parking lot makes it easy.

    Frankie G.

I ordered 3 hot wieners all the way. That's the hot weiner, mustard , meat sauce , onions and celery salt. I was so hungry I didn't even focus on the pics for yelp . At 2a.m. I just wanted to fill my empty stomach. The service is fast . [[HIGHLIGHT]]It's a walk up window after a certain time but if you get the in the early hours you can go inside sit down and eat but late night seating at the one table out there is scarce.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] If you eat in your car run the widows down before you take them out the bag because you will have the smell of onions in the car when you go out in the morning. And remember certain late night meals are going to require you to have tums or Rolaids on hand at home. They are worth driving to Onleyville for a late night bite.

Ask the Community - Olneyville New York System

Do they have outdoor seating or allow dogs?

They have a couple of tables outside. Not sure about dogs inside tho.

    Take credit cards?

    Yes

By any chance are the Weiners all beef?

I called and asked. They said beef, pork, and veal.

    Are these all beef hotdogs?

As Frank said they are NOT Hot Dogs they are Wieners, if you want a Hot Dog this is not the place BUT Wieners are so much better. A taste of heaven on earth a RI tradition. You can get a hot dog just about anywhere. If you want a wiener you have to…

Regular customers not being able to come through as often. That doesn't sit right when it's a place like this. So we brought a few friends and made the trip to Smith Hill. One of them had never had a hot wiener in their life, which feels almost criminal around here. But also kind of perfect. Two all the way, fries, and a drink. There's no reason to complicate it. It is an aptly named "special." The wieners have just enough snap when you bite, but they give in easily as you chew. Great texture. Full flavor. The meat sauce is exactly what it's supposed to be. Savory. Seasoned. Unmistakably a Rhode Island original. Mustard across the top, just enough to cut through. Onions finely chopped and stacked high. Celery salt finishes it off. All of it in a soft, steamed bun that holds its own with flavor and experience. The fries were perfect. Exactly what you hope for at a place like this. Crisp. Golden. Salted perfectly. I didn't touch the shaker. Didn't need to. They get it exactly right on the first try. And yes, they've got coffee milk... on tap. That's not a bonus. That's an expectation when you're running the OG New York System spot. If you don't have coffee milk with your wieners are you really having the true experience? The guys working the counter were young, friendly, and patient. They smile. They explain things. They broke down what "all the way" meant. Just demonstrating pride in what they serve and appreciative of the patronage. And just as we were finishing up, one of the owners came out. She'd heard we had a first timer at the table and wanted to know what they thought. It wasn't a show. She really wanted to make sure the food hit right. She talked to every member of our party and took a genuine interest in who we were and how we got there. Inside, the place is spotless. Coral counters and black walls with chrome stools. A color scheme that somehow works. Digital menus overhead. Even though it's so fresh and clean, you do realize at all times that you're eating at a piece of Rhode Island's history, even though it's also quite modern now. And if we don't show up for places like this, they disappear. You'll wake up one day and the Old Canteen is gone and in its place, you've got Wally's Wieners. Neon signs. Cartoon branding. Hot dogs with dumb names. TikTok decor. Eight dollar ketchup. Branding dressed up like culture. If we let the originals die, we're complicit in the knockoff version that takes its place. So don't just talk about supporting local. Do it. Go to Baba's. Order the special. Sit down. Eat slow. And remember what real tastes like.

Baba's Original New York System on Smith Street first opened back in 1927. Baba's Original New York System was on my list to visit and if they are closing soon, I wanted to go support them. I came on a Saturday afternoon around 1:15pm and there were just 2 tables occupied. We saw a sign at the register to order first and then take a seat. We ordered the 2 Weiner Special which is served with two hot weiner's, fries and drink. There is a fridge with cold drinks for you to choose. Just to name a few, there were Coca Cola, Sprite, Brisk. My husband wanted coffee milk and that was just $1 more. We got the weiners All the Way. Our food was bought to our table. The weiners had a wienie, mustard, meat sauce, onion, and celery salt in a steamed bun. It was very good. The fries were crispy outside and soft inside. Service was wonderful though they did forget the coffee milk for a little while. The menu also has a variety of burger choices, shakes, salads, gyros and sandwiches. Everything is made to order. A credit card surcharge of 3% is applied. By the time we were done with our meal, all the tables and some of the counter seats were taken. I'm glad I had the opportunity to try Baba's Original New York System.

Having been around this long and operating at crazy hours that obviously cater to late night crawlers and drunken fools, you must have built some solid grit to be a dedicated feeding hole around a university/college town. The staff greeted me fondly as I walked through the door. If you've never seen this on TV or online before, you wouldn't have imagined a diner within a truck designed that way. You wouldn't have been able to tell the difference from them vs a small restaurant in a city. TV, lights, posters and everything anything restaurant that you expect was there...except for the chairs this particular night. I'm guessing they removed it to better handle crowds coming through...after all, too many people dining there, lining up, and trying to order food is a classic fire hazard 101 within such a small space. I am glad to have a chance to visit this time around. I've been wanting to try it for the longest time since seeing it on Man vs Food. However, I don't know why but I just wasn't craving a burger in the moment. Maybe if I did order the burger, this would have ended up as a 5-star review based on how most people rave about it. But for now, I'll glad to still say that I'm a true fan. The Haven Dog with celery salt was simple and a quick fixer-upper for anyone slightly hungry in the moment. The steak and cheese sandwich, however, is a loaded mother-f-fer with a LOT of sliced beef atop a TINY bun with some shrooms and peppers. All I could think about as I unwrapped it was someone trying a skinny jeans three sizes down, lol. Check them out!

They were at the Jaws Movies on the Block screening last night, and I couldn't resist trying a couple tacos even though I'd TECHNICALLY already eaten dinner ;-) I tried the PBJ (pork, black beans, jalapenos, cheese, sweet chili sauce) and the Napalm (chicken, jalapenos, Napalm sauce, cheese, Southwest sour cream). Both tacos are a play on a well-known combo, and both are successful for an Americanized taco experience. First off, you have a choice of soft or hard tacos. I went with soft, and got these babies served on smallish flour tortillas. An authentic taco is served typically on corn, but flour is also quite tasty in this case. The PBJ is pulled pork sandwich meets taco. It has a slight sweetness from the sauce and the pork, with a bit of spice from the jalapenos. It's quite tasty, but also a bit drippy, so be careful :) The Napalm reminds me of Buffalo chicken. It's chicken and a spicy "Napalm" sauce which is pretty much a version of Buffalo sauce. The cheese and Southwest sour cream combine to remind me of blue cheese dressing without the actual blue cheese. That creaminess along with the Napalm sauce is definitely reminiscent of Buffalo chicken, and yields a very tasty taco. I see lots of love here for the Grande Tacos, and perhaps next time I'll try one of those. I also know the Green Monstah tacos are popular, and maybe when I'm hungrier I'll grab one of those too. I'd happily visit Poco Loco on future occasions. Although their tacos are not traditional Mexican in style, they are very tasty and satisfying. They're also very cheap at $2 a pop! Two thumbs up for sure!
