UPDATED ON AUGUST 4, 2026: Well not a day after posting this review I received a call from Jay Turner. He knows what customer service is all about. We had a very good conversation where he already was up to speed at the process that happened. He refunded my installation cost since there was not yet an installation. He went on to acknowledge that they came out of the box fast and are growing in the space. As I did originally say that I do believe Haven has a great overall product and strategy in the solar space. Gentlemen like this in their management chain will ensure that they have long term success. I am always willing to look at products/services a second time and I will change my rating from 1 star to 4 stars. Nothing is perfect but he went a long way to make sure his customer base was satisfied. Huge applause for that. I am back on board. ORIGINALLY POSTED ON AUG 3, 2026: I signed up with Haven recently. The sales department tells you whatever they feel like in terms of dates...they do not follow up with anything. After paying my deposit they went completely quiet. I was susposed to have a site survey but the only reason I got one scheduled is because I chased the sales person and they literally wrote me back an email that said "there was a glitch in the system". A pathetic line, well after we got blueprints approved by the city...or so I was told they invoiced me for the installation....keep in mind NOTHING was done or installed at this point. Then a different person told me that you actually pay when you get approved. So the "installation cost" is not actually installation cost as it says in their electronic brochure. The sales person also told me when they sent me the contracts which included a date of Sept (I got the contracts in May previous). "don't worry about that date, it is just like a placeholder for the contracts but we will be handling this before that date for sure. And as of last week July 21st then they tell me that my install date will be in OCTOBER! Keep in mind I have ALREADY PAID the installation cost. Bottom line, I do think the company is legit but they are 100% awful when it comes to customer service and Bs'ing people. So the reviews you see about them being REAL lax and not calling anybody back is totally accurate. If you have other options....vet those out and make the best decision for you. Haven is not for everybody....they don't have any clue how to handle their business in any sort of professional manner. read more

I signed up with Haven for the SGIP grant. At the beginning they were very responsive and helpful, but once I got approved for the grant, they went quiet. They kept telling me to wait for updates. Every couple weeks and months I would email and get the same message asking me to be patient. They did send a contractor out to inspect the roof but after that there was no update on what came of that inspection. It's been over 7 months since the last communication with them and I just realized my grant deadline is coming up at the end of the month. It seems that this is a constant problem they have - sitting on approved grants until it expires due to their lack to follow up and staffing. Would recommend looking into another provider if you're trying to get the SGIP grant. read more

I love how this company took care of all the administrative paperwork and secured me a battery through SGIP. There are other programs offering free solar and battery, but it's all a gimmick to get you to lease equipment or to pay a fixed rate for solar electricity. The Haven Energy Team was a pleasure to work with. The executive from the "installs" team assigned to my project was exceptionally good. She invariably picked up her phone on the first ring or called me back if she missed my call. Followed up all matters that came up in the oftentimes complex process of permitting, installation and the like. Was always ahead of the process. The other team members were polite and responsive as well. The team that actually did the installation were seasoned professionals who knew what they were doing and did a neat and tidy job that passed inspection without issue. Great at selling you, terrible installation contractor, Project Manager (Danny) promised to take care of damaged battery cover (the battery was dropped during installation) and after several emails for resolution, he went silent. Contacted Customer Service, they went silent. Word of advise to anyone considering Haven Energy, Don't pay the final payment in good faith until everything has been completed to your satisfaction. After over a year of dealing with Haven Energy, I can say with certainty that I will not be recommending this company. While my solar battery system is functional, the process of working with Haven Energy has been riddled with delays, installation errors, poor communication, and significant financial setbacks. Here's a summary of my experience: 1. Delayed SGIP Processing and Financial Losses: I started working with Haven Energy in December 2023, and my SGIP application was submitted in March 2024 before the deadline in July which would force NEM1 customers to switch to NEM3 to accept SGIP. Due to Haven Energy's mismanagement of the process, the application expired, and they had to re-apply after the transition to NEM3, and I am now facing the loss of the NEM1 program, which could have saved me around $9,000. This could have been avoided had Haven acted promptly. Now, I'm left with the option of either accepting a reduced SGIP rebate or being forced to switch to NEM3, which completely undermines the reason I invested in a battery storage system in the first place. This has resulted in significant financial losses that Haven Energy refuses to take responsibility for. 2. Functional System, But Poor Installation Support: Although my system is functional, the installation itself was not without its issues. The wiring was messy, and several problems with the configuration required me to troubleshoot and resolve them on my own, including removing improperly installed voltage sensors, and CAN wiring. The installation was completed in June 2024, but Haven Energy failed to provide adequate support afterward, despite multiple attempts to reach them, I was tossed between Haven and FranklinWH for a little over a month. The lack of testing and oversight left me to deal with these issues myself. 3. Lack of Communication and Unresponsiveness: Communication with Haven Energy has been one of the biggest frustrations throughout this process. Despite hundreds of emails, phone calls, and texts, I have often received no response. In October 2024, I finally received information about the SGIP rebate after the initial ball was dropped in May, and did not get the contract until January 2025. Unfortunately, as mentioned above, the SGIP application was submitted after the deadline, and I can no longer stay on NEM1 to accept the program money. Haven Energy has failed to respond to their failures and offer any remedy or cure. 4. Ignored Request for Additional Solar: After dealing with all these issues, I requested an at-cost installation for additional solar panels to expand my system, to help offset the loss of NEM1. Haven Energy conducted a site visit, but then completely stopped responding. I have reached out to Patrick three times since the site visit, via email, and voicemail, and he has not returned any communication. This lack of follow-through on a request to remedy or cure the failures of the past 15 months, shows their disregard for customer service and leaves me with no confidence in their ability to support my system long-term. 5. Financial and Emotional Toll:The delays and mistakes have taken a financial toll, and the lack of communication has been emotionally draining. I've been left trying to handle everything on my own while watching my investment lose value. The original purpose of purchasing a battery storage system was to maximize the benefits of NEM1, but Haven Energy's failure to manage the SGIP application properly has left me in a position where I'm losing out on the benefits I was promised. I already had a backup generator, so without SGIP and NEM1, the ROI of this battery system is non-existent. Bottom Line: While my system works, the process of working with Haven Energy has been nothing short of frustrating and disappointing. Their inability to manage the SGIP process, coupled with poor communication and unresponsiveness, has resulted in significant financial losses for me. If you're considering working with Haven Energy, be prepared for delays, poor customer service, and the risk of losing out on critical incentives like SGIP. I already had solar panels installed and decided I wanted a battery for back up. A supply chain issue affected the timing of installing the battery. The staff kept me informed at every step of the way, including when I was in Europe for a few months. They were also willing to work with my neighbor who was assisting me in this process. I saw an ad for Haven Energy on my newsfeed on my phone regarding free batteries for solar through a California Program. I called and spoke with Shelby. It seemed too good to be true. She seemed surprised (and a bit annoyed) that I asked so many questions. After speaking for about 20 minutes, she said she would send over the contract for me to sign. In the meantime, I did some digging just to make sure that the state program was real, and what it was all about. I already had solar but having batteries would really help me out in the rural area where I lived. I also qualified as low income. It seemed legit. When I received the contract, of course, I looked at every single line. There were four specific items in the contract that I needed clarification on. I e-mailed Shelby. She was able to clarify (sort of) two of those items, but not the others. Days went by without an answer so I sent another email. One of my concerns was that in the contract it stated that after the term of 15 years, I would have the option to buy the batteries at market value. Yet, she told me on the phone that the batteries would be mine at no charge. When I questioned her again, she said that the buy out would be $0 to $1. Why was this not listed in the contract that way? I told her I would be ready to sign if she changed that item in the contract. I didn't get a response. About a week later, I sent another e-mail asking for a revised contract. Again, no response. So, now she is ignoring me. If everything is legit, why won't she respond? read more
