Yesterday was my first time at the Jadyn Taylor Nail Spa and let me tell you, it was Ahhhhhh-mazing! I called in that morning and they were able to schedule me for a Shellac Mani and a Pedi later that afternoon. When I arrived i was greeted by Cindy, who I later found out was the owner of the Salon, she's very nice and made me feel extremely comfortable and relaxed. They definitely take their time but it's great to have a local salon to go to where i don't feel like i'm being rushed and leaving with semi-dry nails. Lovely! I love my pedicure and the whole experience that came along with it....was I really at a spa in Napa??? Ok let me not put it on too thick, but it really is a nice place. After my second attempt at getting quality service, I think I will be going else where. Today my manicurist was Mary. She was really rough with my hands and feet. She kept telling me to relax and forcefully pushing my hands and feet around to her liking. I told her many times I have been working very long hours and haven't been in a relaxing state for a while. Every time she told me to relax i would tense up more. I feel that her manners were not kind and I even told her that she was hurting me. She didn't seem to care or change her methods of working with me. The last time I came here I had a great experience. Now I feel like since I've been a repeat customer they can treat me rude and forceful. One star is for the main gal Kim, who was kind and attentive from the time I came in and until the time I paid and left. One star is for the nice ladies in the shop who were all much nicer and friendlier than Mary. Everyone else seemed happy and not in any pain or being told to 'relax' all the time. read more

I recently moved to Alameda and have been looking for a new nail salon. I looked up this place on yelp and it definitely lived up to the other reviews. When I walked in I was immediately impressed. The place is decorated with chandeliers and warm colors. It's quite and there is soothing music playing. I asked if they took walk-ins and they lady said yes but it's not normal for a Saturday walk-in. However, I was helped right away and asked if I wanted water or tea to drink. They don't have massage chairs and use metal bowls to put your feet in. I thought I would miss that I didn't. The spa like atmosphere made up for it. After all, I got a basic pedicure and a shellac manicure. I was really impressed with the results and the manicurist asked me often how I liked things. The foot and hand massage was nice too. For both the manicure and pedicure, I paid 51 dollars. This is definitely a spa like atmosphere with the regular nail place prices. I will definitely be back! read more

Such a beautiful, classy, nail salon! I called on a Saturday morning to try to book an afternoon pedicure for my friend and I. I was told they were booked and was a little disappointed. About 30 mins later the woman called me back to say they had a cancellation and could take us - YAY for stellar new-client customer service! We arrived to a quaint, immaculately clean, lovely little salon. It was easy to find right on Santa Clara near Broadway. Soft calming colors, beautiful chandelier lighting fixtures - very nicely decorated. There were 2 or 3 manicure tables and 4 or 5 pedicure chairs. These were comfy leather chairs, instead of your typical massaging spa tub chairs. I did kind of miss that, but it didn't make my pedicure any less divine. They have quality Essie and OPI polish, as well as Shellac for manicures. They do have selection of beverages to choose from and candy mints at the front desk. The pedicure itself was 4 stars. Not as extensive as I'm used to at my regular nail spa at home, but for out of town in my 2nd home town, this will do. They massage your foot with a honey lime sugar scrub that leaves them very smooth and soft. And she didn't hesitate to scrub the bottom and get all up in the cuticles of your nails to make sure your feet look great! The classic pedicure was $26 (tip by cash only). I might pay the extra 5 bucks next time for a signature pedicure with a little longer of a foot massage - this was kind of short. I'd go back next time I'm in the bay and in need of a pedicure. It is almost a year since I started going to Jadyn Taylor Nail Spa and I still love it! I did have an issue with my last appointment where...the atmosphere was not the relaxing atmosphere I had come to expect and I had considered going elsewhere. Sophia is the BEST! ok ok..I know I don't have much experience on getting waxed anywhere else but I can't imagine going to anyone else to get my brazilian done. Now I understand why my friends say that waxing is waaaaay better than shaving! Sophia makes you feel totally comfortable during the entire process and is very down-to-earth and personable. during my first waxing i had a ton of questions and she was able to answer them all! I just got back from my mani pedi. I just moved to Oakland (near Alameda), and needed to find a new pedicure place. My old one didn't do acrylics, and I loved that - no gross smell. Jadyn Taylor seems to be the same - no acrylics, no nasty smells. Very calm and inviting space. I did see they offer gel manicures, which are awesome, but I was just in for a basic mani/pedi today. Completely relaxing, and Demi did a great job on my fingers and toes! Good massage, reasonably priced, and everyone was friendly. Just found my new nail place! Yay! read more

Made an appointment on a Sunday. I been here once and had a good experience however I am not sure if it's because I'm the last appointment before closing I felt a bit rushed through my appointment. I got a gel manicure from Joanne and a regular pedicure from Demi. They both did a great job. I appreciated the fact that they were super focused and took the time to do a really good job instead of rushing through the process like a lot of salons do. The sugar scrub made my feet feel smooth and soft. The girls that work there seemed young, friendly and cool. I felt like I was just hanging out at a friend's house. The only reason I put 4 stars instead of 5 is that it seemed way more expensive than most nail salons. $70 out the door! It makes sense though, because I have gone to cheap nail salons many a time, and it's almost never worth it. I'd rather pay extra to have clean, healthy nails that last than have to take the polish off after 2 days because it's already falling apart. Jayden Taylor could probably afford to make their prices a LITTLE more reasonable though. read more

Not your average nail spa. My friends recommended this place. I've been coming here for over a year now. It is really clean. Its nice seeing other men in the spa. There is nothing wrong with getting yourself well groomed! The massage is the best part of the services. There is a new owner and new workers :( but I hope this place will continue to be the same. I only know one of the old workers. Parking is tricky here but I don't mind walking from the Alameda parking lot. Broadway has the best free parking but that's if I'm lucky. I've always passed by this place. I never realized it was right next to Kamakura. It is easy to miss but when you do come here. Tips: Always best to call or make an appointment online. They do accept walk-ins but when there isn't time. I've been able to get in sometimes without an appointment. Why come here? Support your local business and its actually a clean place. read more

I moved from Hawaii to the Alameda two years ago and stumbled across Jadyn Taylor Nail Spa on Yelp. The rave reviews made me want to try the place out. I can't say enough about the people, location and overall atmosphere. I've made wonderful friends here and would stop in at least twice a month for a mani/pedi, facial wax, or massage. Mary has been my go-to girl for mani/pedis. She takes a lot of pride in her work and I've always walked out of there 100% satisfied. She's amazing. I would highly recommend her. My boyfriend and I would also schedule massage appointments with Jackie once a month. She is also amazing. Strong hands and long, relaxing strokes made the 90 min. Swedish massage something we'd look forward to after a long work week. If you're looking for great service, a relaxing atmosphere and a reasonable price, look no further. Managed to get two walk in services which was great! The place was easy to find. Street parking with meters. Comfortable chairs. We were offered water. Neither of the employees who worked on us offered their names or asked us how we were doing. My friend's nail tech didn't speak English at all. It was her first pedicure and I was kind of embarrassed by the way she was treated. Her nail tech had to ask my nail tech the questions instead of her own client. The pedi bowls weren't filled very high with water. I can see why, probably too heavy to carry quickly. The tops of my feet were sticking out of the water. Fine. The foot rubs were good. The scrub was nice. The towels they used on my legs and feet were REALLY rough!!! I couldn't believe it. Terrible rags. WHY? If you wouldn't use them on your face, don't put them on my clean feet. Maybe buy some softer towels?? I was a little worried about the way she clipped the sides of my toenails. Pretty sure that's how ingrowns come about but maybe I'm wrong. Not a ton of polish selection. They had Essie, OPI and a maybe 2 other brands from what I saw but maybe there was another section where they had more. None of the techs had their licenses posted or wore name tags. Though the store did have a business license posted in the front. I came here because I knew they used an autoclave and no cesspool spa chairs. So in the end... relaxing music, quick easy no frills service. Not so customer service oriented. They did their job and my feet feel really good. I would recommend this quick and clean place only if you don't mind not chatting with your nail tech. I had an amazing experience at Jadyn Taylor. I went in for a Brazilian wax and a mani/pedi and it was amazing. Sophia did a great job with the wax and was very gentle during the entire process. She used a very gentle wax, waiting for it to dry properly before pealing it off. My mani/pedi was very nice as well - the girls were very friendly and accommodating. I had recently had a small operation on my toe and they were very considerate and gentle and my pedicure turned out great. Amazing location. Love the vibe. It's so quite in here, You can just fall asleep while getting your pedicure. The ladies are so nice and friendly. They know what they are doing. This place is very unique and simple , like it does have comfortable chair but it doesn't have a massage chair which I don't really mind. The interior is beautifully decorated with pretty chandeliers and some simple decorations. This is the place to be if you're looking for a quiet and relaxing place to be for a mani-pedi. I am writing my review based on the Signature facial that I had (60 minutes) I was really impressed with the customer service over the phone when I called to schedule my appointment, I can't remember her name but she was really sweet. I actually had to cancel my first appointment, but she quickly searched to see what other slots they had available for the following day, which I was 20 minutes late to! But they were very patient with me. My estitician was Sophia and she was very knowledgeable and was very clear in explaining to me. She gave me the best face and neck massage of my life! I It think I fell asleep. She recommended me to next time book a longer facial so she could concentrate on my extractions more, which did not really hurt. I was looking for a nail salon that offered shellac at a reasonable price, but I also wanted the salon experience. My friend suggested this place, and although I am an Oakland native and I like to support Oakland, I just couldn't afford to pay $100 every time I wanted a mani/pedi and shellac. The decor and atmosphere is relax meets style with the Tiffany blue walls, brown leather chairs, and dark wood floors, oh and the chandeliers. I was offered tea as I walked in. I love my shellac and my manicurist Carol who mixed two colors to get the color that I was looking for. Carol took her time and gave me great tips on how to care for my nails. My pedicure was amazing. I love love that they use bowls instead of spa chairs. You can never be to certain about spa chairs. There is even a lemon in the bowl. I was in total relaxation mode as I sat in my reclined leather chair and talked to my friend. They have mini clocks next to the chairs so that you know what time it is, and a little pull out table to place important items on like, rings, or bracelets and you don't have to worry about where you placed your valuables. I had a really relaxing, not too expensive manicure ($19) I really enjoyed the experience, it was very relaxing and soothing and Le did a great job! The reason I am giving 3 stars a because I called 3 times and did not get an answer and when I walked in there were only two people there. I mention that I had called and they had no idea the phone had even rang, kinda strange. Also, my color is already chipping and it's only been two days. Can't say I'm a huge fan of that. The staff here is super, super friendly and very easy to talk to. It's like having a conversation with one of your girlfriends. They do a great job and their scrubs smell wonderful! 5 stars for the facial I received, 3 stars for the mani-pedi. The facial was so luxurious and relaxing. My skin looked and felt great for days after the fact. The mani-pedi left a little something to be desired. My polish barely lasted a week (started looking dull in 3 days) and my cuticles were not completely cleaned up. To be honest, I could have given myself polish like this at home. The lotions, wax, and soaks were very enjoyable and I liked the atmosphere (very spa-like) but I was very disappointed in the color job. read more

Absolutely HORRIBLE! Just paid $46 for a GEL MANICURE!!! Other than the fact that the manicure itself wasn't good, on average the cost for a gel manicure is around $35 ($40 if you're in SF) it also says on their WEBSITE and their PAMPHLET that it is $29. They even used white out on their pamphlet and wrote $29 in Nothing special about my nails or service that warranted an $17 increase. Just the USUAL nail service on cut, soak, trim and 1 minute massage afterwards but apparently according to their manager it IS IN FACT a big deal that made them charge us almost $20 extra than what is shown on both their website AND pamphlet inside the store?!?! When I showed this to the workers and told their manager that they should be upfront about their prices and what their services include, instead of customers leaving angry, the manager then proceeded to tell me that she will call the cops. Mind you, I wasn't yelling or throwing things around or threatening anybody, I was just showing them that they themselves put $29 for the service I received. When I asked to speak with the owner, the workers started ATTEMPTING to explain that because I soaked my fingers for 2 minutes in water, that warranted the extra charges. If I had known, I would not have put my hands in the water. BE AWARE OF THIS PLACE AND THEIR HIDDEN EXTRA CHARGES. This place is an absolute joke. During our service a lady was waiting for her appointment and after waiting for about 15 minutes she got up and left... she got off lucky. read more

This is my first yelp review, ever. I absolutely love this salon. Workers, ambiance and most of all their service. Workers: Cindy is my go to lady. However, all of the other nail technicians are as qualified as she is. I've discovered Shellac thanks to her and I love it. Sophia is the esthetician and her knowledge with skin is great! I would recommend her facials. Ambiance: Cleanliness and classiness to say the least. Design of the nail spa is one of a kind and very relaxing. Offered water, wine, tea! Makes the experience all the better. Service: Very professional, which to me is always a plus! We all know that there are more than enough nail shops in Alameda. I've been to Jadyn Taylor a few times and most of the time the service and ambiance is really great. I don't see any particular nail tech so of course things can vary if you're seeing different people. The space is clean and comfortable and pretty to look at. I will say over the years it's starting to feel a littleeeee less kept up..not as shiny and bright and fresh as it use to feel. Sometimes a littleeee messy or just things that seem not to have been taken care of as well as before. Other than that it's really quiet, I love a relaxing nail spa, not over packed, no loud people on the phone. It also feels great inside temperature wise. I've been to places either freezing cold or salons that feel like a sweatshop. The temperature here is perfect and I love the reclining chairs, they're super relaxing. They are a bit more pricey but it's nice to know I can count on a relaxing appointment and not a bunch of chaos or waiting around with my feet in cold water. They're on it. By far the worst pedicure I've received. My friend and I went in and our appointment felt very rushed. We ordered the signature pedicure which lasted a total 15 minutes. My feet felt the same as before I had gone in. The nail polish started flaking off within an hour. My friend paid in cash and the woman just took her change and said it was for the tip. We were just in shock. My friend later told me that she noticed the instruments weren't even sterilized. She just pulled everything out of a box. Do yourself a favor and go somewhere else. read more

This is the best nail salon I have had the pleasure to visit and I have had everything from cheapo acrylics to ritzy pedis. The service is friendly, they do a fantastic job, and the salon is very clean and beautifully decorated. I recently had a french Shellac mani here for a wedding. It was the BEST french manicure I've ever had, hands down. Perfectly shaped (I'm picky about this), meticulously manicured, and the tips were expertly um... frenched? I have never been or heard of this place before until a friend of mine referred me to this place. I have to start off by saying I'm not the type of girl who usually gets manicures/pedicures. I decided to come in for a pedicure today because honestly my feet were getting quite crusty. Anyways, let me tell you about my (amazing) experience. I walked into this place and it was so clean. I was in shock. I've been to other nail salons back where I live and they aren't that sanitary. This place was very fancy. I loved how there was quiet, calming music playing. The vibe was just peaceful and I enjoyed it very much. There were three ladies working and their names were Nancy, Mary, and Emm. They were all very nice to me. They greeted me when I came in and looked very happy. One thing I really liked was the fact that they all spoke English fluently. Hahahaha! You never know what they might say in their language ;) The lady who did my pedicure was Emm. I HIGHLY recommend to anyone who comes to this nail spa to ask for her to do your mani/pedi. Emm was extremely friendly and sweet. She made me feel like I knew her personally. It made me feel really comfortable. We were just chatting it up while she was doing my pedicure. She was telling me how she is a licensed cosmetologist so pretty much she does facials and waxes eyebrows/upper lips. So... Go to her! She's so awesome. She did such a great job on my toes. I love this place! Emm seems very experienced in what she does and she did everything so perfect. Can I just rave about how LOVELY the interior of this place is - it's so gorgeous. The tiffany blue walls are stunning. I had the four-layer facial with JoAnn, I called to make an early bird appointment last week and they scheduled me with ease. Unfortunately, I was running late as I was under the impression that my appointment was at 10:30am and it was really at 10:00am (ooops!) - JoAnn was gracious and still allowed me to come in and for that I am really appreciative. I was taken to a facial room where I put on a terry cloth covering and got underneath the blanket and immediately wanted to go to sleep, it was so relaxing. We started off with gentle cleansing, exfoliating, moisturizing, a few masks, some massages (neck/arms/shoulders), extractions, serums, and sunscreen to finish it off. The extractions DO hurt, but I have a high threshold for pain so it wasn't a problem. I was very pleased with this service, JoAnn walked me through each and every step and she wanted to make sure I was comfortable throughout the facial. Some things to note: -Parking is on the street, you may need to feed your meter every 2 hours. -Through the wall in the facial room, you can hear the phone ring and sometimes if someone is talking too loudly in the nail spa side, you can hear this. -I didn't receive the foot massage that other's say that they got, it could be because I was running late - idk. I haven't been here since 2012 but the place still looks so luxurious! I used to get my nails done here and then eat at the sushi restaurant next door but it's closed now due to a fire. Pros: Parking is very convenient! I can easily find parking on Broadway. Inside is so lavish and I feel like a queen here. My favorite technicians are Tram, Kim, and Vany. They are truly the best! They have Essie gel polishes. Tram is best for my gel nails. Kim and Vany if you want a real strong massage. They are my sweetie pies! Cons: I wish they had ecofriendly polishes and hopefully will offer some organic options to their services. Oh well, it's best if I bring my own stuff anyways.
