Tried this new place out for the location and wasn't quite impressed. My mani pedi was overpriced, uneven, and I was cut twice. However, the family that works there was nice enough. Maybe the lackluster attention to detail is more present on a weekday when the shop isn't as busy. I don't think I'll be returning to find out. read more

This is my most favorite nail salon of all time! Everything in the whole store is super clean and upkept. All of the chairs and massage chairs are extremely comfortable and easy to sit back in for an hour. The lady who owns the store does some of the best acrylic work i've seen in houston and it's all reasonably priced! They do take a little longer than other places because they take their time and make sure everything is perfect before you leave. You can show them any idea you want or they can give you ideas. The older lady that was working on my hands did an ok job, during the soak off when removing my acrylic nails, she turned the speed on the drill up really high and went too fast. She lost control of the drill and nipped me deep in my cuticle ( 2 days later and I can see a hole in my cuticle) she did what she could to try and stop the bleeding and she did apologize, which I appreciate. The other older lady did a great job with my pedicure, but she isn't that great at concealing the fact that she's speaking negatively about you. She looked at me crazy when she asked what color I wanted for my toes and began t speak in her native language which caused the other two techs to turn and look me up and down as if they were all judging me, and she also copped an attitude when I asked if she could re-do my big toe due to a bubble forming... I don't know what's so bad about White Shellac but I digress. All in all, for the shellac on my toes with the Deluxe Pedicure and Shellac on my nails it came out to $90 ($110 including tip). The experience definitely could have been better for the price I paid and still tipped them, I was uncomfortable and embarrassed for how much the lady kept talking about me. I wanted to get up and leave but I felt that that would have caused some kind of confrontation. I came in with high expectations because a close friend of mine raves about this shop. read more

I decided to finally get my nails done. I am super reluctant because I have been to so many places and was always unsatisfied. I have thin skin and my cuticles are terrible from work. I am also an artist so, by default, completely critical if the color isn't applied perfectly. This place had just a couple reviews but none were bad so I decided to give it a try. My cousin (who's a teenage boy) and I were greeted as soon as we walked in the door. We were given complimentary refreshments and she even offered my cousin a free massage in the chair while he waited on me. Nancy paid very close attention to detail, she also made sure the tools she used weren't causing me any pain or discomfort. I went to this nail salon for the first time for acrylics because the place I had been going to in Tanglewood upped their prices five dollars, so with a five dollar tip I was dropping fifty bucks on nails. An acrylic set with the color of your choice here, however, is only 30 dollars not including tip. This is DEFINITELY worth it, considering the quality of the acrylics - my artist (I didn't get her name) took her time (albeit maybe a little too slowly for some people), and I love the shape that came out. The only thing I would change next time (and I do plan on going back) is asking for them to be longer - but that's just a personal preference. The only con was that my mom and I came in on a Saturday morning and we had to wait almost an hour - the guy told us we needed to only wait 30 minutes, so we walked over to Starbucks and hung out, but when we came back we had to wait about another thirty minutes, which was obviously frustrating. Definitely CALL and schedule an appointment before you come in, because from what I saw they only have about four people at a time available for nail appointments. Otherwise, I'm super pleased with this salon and am excited to come back! read more

Do not like my nails.. If you look at them from afar, they're fine but they're bumpy and bulky at the beds only and she got the shape wrong after I told her very specifically what I wanted and what I didn't want. I've had my nails done several times and came here because the reviews were good (I'm from Philly). The whole time she was doing my nails I was like "omg what is she doing" because the technique was so strange. She was putting the powder in the middle of the nail first and then filling in the bottom. They don't look natural at all, gonna have to go get them redone some place else read more

Today was my first day going to Family Nails, I read the reviews from the Yelp community and decided to give them a try. I called this morning (Labor Day), to make an appointment and was able to come in 30 minutes later. This place is totally a hidden gem, I've pasted it everyday and never noticed it was there and it's vliterally 5 minutes from my house, which is a plus.. Okay so I go in and was immediately greeted, I was in the chair at my appointment time (no waiting), this alone was majorly impressive. I booked with Nancy, her, her husband, and cute little girl were the only ones in the shop today. Nancy is great at what she do, from her personality to her gift in nails. Every step of the way, she made sure I was comfortable and satisfied, never rushing. They are very clean here (they don't reuse the file and buffer.. It's given to you for you to bring with you at your nail appt), how awesome is that. The name of the salon really fits this place, because they make you feel like family.. And their daughter Vy, even made my the cutest picture to take with my,so sweet!! I will definitely be coming here for now on..So glad I found this place and it so close to home. This salon is great. I'm giving it 5 stars for a few reasons: 1). The staff is extremely nice. They go out of their way to make sure you have a great experience, and if it's your first time they will give you any design for free along with a bottle of cuticle oil. Also, they are meticulous on your nails. My mani literally looks perfect. 2). Once they use their tools on you, they put them in a baggie and give it to you to keep and bring back next time. You know for sure that no one else is using the same tools. For those that they cannot give away, they have them sanitizing in plain view. 3) Post manicure, the technician gave me the most awesome neck, shoulder and back massage followed by an extensive arm and hand massage on both arms. I was so relaxed by the time I was done I felt like I had spent an hour at a day spa. All in all I had a fantastic experience. I was a little concerned initially that there would be a language barrier, but the service more than made up for that. If you're looking for a reasonably priced salon with really good service, definitely check this place out. read more

All around this was a very bad experience for me. I've had my nails done multiple times with acrylic and dip powder, but their dip powder was not opaque AT ALL. I could see through my nails at some points, and my nail technician left bumps all over my nails and didn't even care to shave them down. I would NOT recommend this nail salon. read more

The gentleman who did my pedicure was very gentle and made sure the metal file was not hurting me.
