Frank is our Go To guys for rental cars! His cars are older, but very well maintained. I've said it before, but we blend in so well driving an older "local" car than a brand new convertible Mustang or a Jeep. Folks just treat you better, flash their lights to let you make a turn in traffic... Also, I feel so much safer at the beach - we don't look like tourists, so we've got total peace of mind at leaving our car in the parking lot. Pick up and drop off at the airport (OGG Kahului) couldn't be easier. Frank lets you know where the car is parked, you walk to it, pay to exit the parking lot and drive off to your destination (no waiting in line at a rental agency). Returning it is the same, get the parking ticket at the airport lot, park the car in the same area, lock up the key/parking ticket and head into the airport to catch your flight. So easy!!! Found this place and was able to book a van right away, they picked us up at the airport, signed the contract and provided my license and insurance and was on my way! They answered my questions and…read moreinquiries about car rentals via text and e-mail and provided all the procedures and information on where to find the rental Nissan Hatchback. Keep in mind that they rent on calendar days, not 24-hour periods unlike most of today's rental companies. First, it definitely does help to follow their detailed instructions (apparently some past renters have not taken the time to do just that), and one of the main things they do emphasize is that none of their vehicles are to be taken off-road, as they are GPS-tracked. I had no plans this time around on going to any of the locations that require off-roading anyway, plus the weather was so rainy even for that particular time of year (month of May) that the dirt roads would have been too muddy to drive on even I did rent a Jeep from another company. Roadside parking is perfectly fine and they say a big yes to visiting the Lana'i Cat Sanctuary, though caution should always be exercised when having to go on the short gravel road to get to and from the parking lot. Make sure you have images of your driver's license and proof of insurance ready to send to Judi and be sure to sign the rental agreement. Then of course, do the credit card payment online and then you'll get a confirmation e-mail. Prices are pretty reasonable for even a location like Lana'i, and you will get the $50 refuel deposit refunded upon texting a receipt of the gas receipt. Very good family-run rental car company and I certainly hope to rent from them again down the road if I need a sedan/hatchback!

We had a good experience renting a Jeep on Lanai from Jim. He kept good communication even prior to…read moreour arrival, as the island did have some storm damage. Thankfully when it was time for our day trip, all of the sites were fully accessible. We packed in a full day visiting Garden of the Gods, Shipwreck Beach, Lanai Cat Sanctuary, Hulopoe Bay and hiking the Pu'upehe Trail. We started with breakfast at Blue Ginger and later visited the 50s themed diner in the new bowling center for afternoon ice cream. The Jeep was quite new, very clean, with CarPlay, and everything was in good working order. I highly recommend downloading offline maps for navigating Lanai, as there is barely a bar of cell service, even in town. We never actually had to use 4WD for the Jeep, but the height clearance sure did help us on some of the rough dirt roads to some of the sites (places you'd never want to take a regular car). Jim gave us a thorough explanation and tips for visiting the sites when we arrived on the morning shuttle to pickup the Jeep (text the shuttle company ahead of time to reserve your spot at the ferry harbor). There was a laminated map inside the Jeep for us to take with us for the day. Process was smooth. Would rent from Cheap Jeeps again if visiting Lanai. Mahalo!

It has to be one of the easiest, fastest car rentals and returns I have ever done. I have often been disappointed at other jurisdictions after making a reservation for a certain car and upon arrival been told, they "don't have that car on the lot right now." What is the point of reserving?! This way I was able to ask what they had, rent and return it completely trouble free, and like I already said, at a great, competitive rate. I had read quite a few negative reviews of Enterprise and Budget there in Maui before travelling many, many miles to get to Maui, and that was why I first tried Avis.
