When your Primary Care Physician requests for a follow up exam, you're obligated to follow Doctor's orders. I was scheduled an appointment at Hawaii Diagnostic Radiology Services located at St. Francis Medical Center in Liliha. My doctor took the liberty to schedule the appointment and I was committed to an evening off from work as it was scheduled for 9:15pm. Finding a doctor's appointment to fit my work schedule can be challenging, yet this one was out of the ordinary as I had no idea this center opens until 10pm. Late in the afternoon I received a call and voicemail from them asking if I could come in earlier than scheduled since a last minute cancellation was made making my appointment available from that point on. I immediately went in ASAP! First of all, parking was amazing! On a Tuesday evening when the busy work day comes to an end, Level 1 was completely empty. There were a few patients in the waiting area. But once I completed my personal information sheet, my name was called immediately. The technician was sweet and professional, she was fast and thorough, front desk administrator quickly validated my parking ticket and I was in and out within 15 minutes. By the end of the next day, I was told that my results would get forwarded to my PCP. read more

Liliha- #106 Avoid if possible. Front door slams every time someone comes in or out. It is quite jarring for the seniors in the office waiting room. Parking stricture is one out of 10 and very confusing. They have CBN Christen TV blaring in the waiting room. They should have Food network or something non-denominational. They say that it's not just the outside but inside that counts... Nothing can be more true as you can look around the waiting room you never know what they're all here for and Hawaii Diagnostic Radiology is a place that can help you and your physician figure it out. Not sure what the standard X-ray are assuming it's walk-in only like the other locations but I was here for a MRI. Hours for MRI are quite impressive where they open daily at 8am and closes everyday at 10pm daily with exception of Saturday which is 4pm. With that it was very convenient to reserve your appointment by email once I got the confirmation and secured one in just a couple days. Getting here was another thing I had to figure out if you're never been here before. Driving right up to St Francis Medical Center you immediately see a couple Medical buildings with addresses of 2226 and 2228 so by deduction the 2230 is the main building. Soon as you drive in there's a parking entrance to your left which I took and parked on the ground floor right next to the elevator looking at the directory there and didn't find any HDRS location...long story short after taking a short travel around just park on the THIRD floor and there's a walkway to the main lobby entrance and HDRS is outside right beside the Hospital's lobby entrance...omg! HDRS does fully validate and the staff was amazingly so very organized and efficient, with spacious waiting area once I got this place figured out I may choose to come to this location as an option. Thank you as my issues has been a mystery that only you can help play a role to figure out an hope it solves it with little disturbance as pictures certainly is worth many thousand words of answers. This is a racist company. Waiting in the waiting room I noticed that the staff treats locals so nice and warm, but if a non-local comes in they are extremely cold. Excellent service. They're located on the third floor. Enter through the main doors. There's a person outside who has your sign in sheets that you need to sign. She'll ask for your ID, medical card, and parking ticket for validation. From there you go inside to sign your forms. When you're done, you hand them to one of the folks at the counter. I made my payment then had a seat and waited to be called. I was called within a few minutes, was given instructions on where to go to remove my clothing and how the medical costume would open up (in the front) and headed to the imaging room. The procedure was quick and the radiology tech talked me through to let me know that the machine would tell me when to hold my breath. He left and said it would take two minutes. He came back as soon as it was done, removed the things he had attached to me and also let me see the images taken. Staff was very friendly and helpful. I would highly recommend if you need some imaging work done. Parking was free with validation. read more

From 2005 to 2024 - nearly 20 years - I have been a patient of HDRS and Y&M radiology. I can speak to the quality of service, fair costs (when I did not have medical coverage), and positive treatment I have received in those life's moments when I was feeling most vulnerable. From X-rays to CT scans my experience with HDRS/Y&MR has never been less than outstanding and their services and customer experience without question the best I have ever had anywhere. When they were in the old offices on King Street, I was immensely relieved that they were so cost reasonable at a time when I did not have medical insurance. The old King Street office in 2005 was very dated but the customer service and professional services were so much better than the treatment I had been receiving at Straub Medical Center during that same period (I paid Straub full medical retail cash out of pocket). It was a series of bad incidents at Straub Occupational health and Straub Imaging that led my primary care physician to referring me to HDRS (Y&MR). I was treated so much better and hands down the costs to me were affordable - less than half of what Straub MC was charging. One stunning observation I made at the time was the customer service people had foreign languages covered then. I heard office folks speaking to patients in Japanese, Korean, dialects of Filipino and French - Amazing! Over time and with different personal primary physicians I have always been able to ask to be referred to HDRS. I have always been treated well by HDRS and their services have always been top shelf with regard to professionalism. Perhaps the language diversity no longer is a feature of their offices though. As for back office service, during Covid I found myself in need of assistance with paying my bill. I found the office door locked down like everywhere during Covid and I took a chance and knocked. A wonderful staffer answered and helped take my payment even though the office was closed to the public. I was just asked to wait in the hallway briefly. I went away happy and satisfied again. Throughout the years and at new office locations I have happily remained a HDRS patient. Today, I have a new surgeon and he exclusively works with a different radiology provider - the one that's in Hale Pawaa, One Waterfront and the Medical Arts Building. This OTHER diagnostic imaging practice has been all negative, condescending and horrible, especially as I sought to get verbal clarification on clearance for my medication and their services. I have asked my surgeon if I could be referred instead to HDRS and sadly I was rebuffed with a firm "No." Perhaps I am spoiled by HDRS and Y&MR. I am used to being treated by HDRS Y&MR as a valued patient with respect, kindness and professionalism. A couple of days ago, I felt so strongly about this as I sat outside of Hale Pawaa, I called Hawaii Diagnostic Radiology Services and spoke to a sweet staffer and explained my situation. I told her I was a long-time patient going back to the Y&MR days and that I had asked to be referred to HDRS and was not given the option. I told her my current experience with Invision was not going well and I wanted her to let the HDRS front of office management know how much better HDRS is than other places around Honolulu. She thanked me, said my words would be forwarded to the HDRS CFO, she was sorry I was having difficulty with another provider and I would always be welcome back as their patient. frankly, this made me feel better and is epic patient service and means more to me than just kind words. Due to covid. Follow the check in protocols. Check in at the elevator side entrance where you do a temperature check and you hand the clerks your medical ID cards who will then walk you in the diagnostic waiting room. I guess it's good to make an appt, today i didn't. I have a service dog (in training) that comes out with me everywhere I go. On this visit today, I was stopped by the guard at the door. He questioned, if I had service dog papers, what kind of service dog is my dog. I then proceeded to enter the check in area and the girls ask me that service dogs are not allowed because other people may be allergic. Oh really? Let me see and take steps back and see if I saw any sign that says no service dog allowed. Per ADA compliant, you never ask the owner for the service dog letter/certification. You may ask what kind of service dog does your dog perform, but I believe service dogs should never be refused. My dog was held by the guard outside while I was being xrayed. I really should have just left. If I didn't drive distance and my back wasn't in such pain, I would have left. This business needs to review their practice on disability patient care. read more

I came to have my DEXA SCAN the other day here. I came around 20 minutes before my scheduled appointment. When the person who was going to do the scan called me I sense he was in a bad mood just by looking at his face. When I got to the room, the trash bin was right next to the examining table and it was over flowing with trash from takeout food containers. Is it too much to expect him to be at least be pleasant, introduce himself and have a tone so I don't think he's mad about something? This worker should at least be pleasant and have a professional demeanor. He should've clearly introduce himself stating he will be doing the scan. Also he should be approachable and friendly. His tone should be welcoming and courteous. He definitely was not. After I got the scan I went to have my ticket validated. The worker only gave me one stamp which meant I had to pay. I called later to ask why it wasn't fully validated. She said they only cover the duration of the X-ray and 15 minutes for the check-in. read more

Either choice results in waiting with the music for 5 minutes then it goes to say you can leave a message but the mail box is full and hangs up on you. Call back. Same result. They are so organized here! Once you walk in the main entrance they're located on the right. They have a check in desk where they will ask for your ID, insurance card and the usual Covid questions. After they take your temperature they will escort you inside so you can fill out any uncompleted forms. The waiting room is air conditioned ( bring a jacket if you get cold) and spacious. They will offer you parking validation and then it's just a waiting game. Everyone was professional and courteous. read more

Poor customer service, workers there do not care about patients time consideration. I had a 9:50 am appointment on 3/6/24. I got there 20 minutes before my appointment. Checked in and answered their questionnaire and signed the forms about ten minutes before my appointment. Waited to be called and no one called for over 50 minutes. Workers there too busy talking story with their coworkers and helping patients that came in with no appointments. Everyone who was in waiting and about 20 people that came after me got helped. Even some of people at didn't have an appointment got helped before me. Maybe they don't like me or something about me like race or looks. I'm never ever going back to that business again. If you value your time don't waste it waiting in their waiting room. After parking the car and going back to my car I wasted about 1 1/2 hour of my life because of incompetence and workers not caring about patients no wonder the closed down Ala Moana location probably because of incompetence in their work force. Nice, new facility but navigating the medical center grounds is not intuitive or easy. Signage is minimal & confusing. As for HDRS, they'll tell you to check in 15 min before your appt, then you'll wait an hour or more to be seen, even right up to their closing time for the day. Just left the waiting area after wasting an hour of my time. Did not even get a diagnostic radiology study... I was scheduled for a 1pm MRI and arrived at 1230 (per their request) to pre-register. Everything seemed ok and organized. Scheduling was easy. Check-in seemed quick and smooth. But then, I just kept waiting and waiting. Finally got up and asked what was going on since it was already 120pm and there was no word about my turn for the MRI... The receptionist then tells me, "Oh, I'm sorry, but we are running really behind today". Ok, this info could have been helpful from the beginning!?! Why didn't you mention anything when I was checking in??? I had even called an hour before my appointment and asked when I would likely be done... The lady on the phone told me, "with a 1pm appointment, you should be done by 2pm at the latest". In any case, the receptionist then says "You should be getting called back in about 20 minutes". Really? Ok, should I just wait 20 more minutes??? I dunno, I've already wasted an hour of my life just waiting for this MRI... I then overhear them talking quietly behind the desk about how the last patient just went back in for an MRI!?! Really!?! There's no way I was getting an MRI anytime soon, and I could just see 20 minutes becoming 30 minutes and then 40 minutes, even before starting the study... that's why I decided to go someplace else. I realize that things can happen and schedules can get delayed. What I did NOT like was the LYING and the lack of transparency. It is also just down right rude and inconsiderate to NOT even mention anything to your patient about delays that have clearly been going on "all day"! And, why give BS time estimates? Do you really think that would make things better? read more

My boyfriend's grandma had an appointment at Saint Francis Diagnostic Radiology @11:15 AM they didn't call her in until 12:20 ish. As we're waiting for her to be called in, the Radiology front desk was super disrespectful to many patients that were checking in. Especially the lady that sits in the middle desk with dark hair and glasses. When people were trying to ask her for help she kept telling them to sit down in a rudely manner and sounded super commanding. For example she told a lady that she printed the papers in Chinese and kept rushing her to sit down to fill it out. When the lady said that she doesn't know how to fill it out , she replied with "don't tell me you don't know how to fill it out that's why I printed it out in Chinese, fill it out and sit down"! . There was also another incident, where the lady couldn't barely understand and speak English but the lady on the far left desk kept telling her that her doctors needs too put an order in for her in a rude tone. I felt super bad for these elderly people and I really didn't like how they were getting talked to. I really hope they take it into consideration and start treating every patient with respect & good hospitality. read more
