Poke means "sliced" in Hawaiian. It describes the diced, marinated raw fish dish. The Capital Region is fortunate to have a number of good poke restaurants. This one also has an assortment of ramen, noodle bowls and bubble teas. "Hawaii" is a chain with a remarkably large menu. I came in for poke but wound up with a rice noodle bowl, instead. Orders are placed at the counter just like a fast food joint but this isn't really fast food. Most of the food is actually made to order. The staff is really patient. They'll help you navigate the massive menu with many options. If you're dining in they'll bring your orders to your table. I picked thin rice noodles with spicy miso broth and pork belly. I also asked for most of the free toppings and the free hard boiled egg. The pork belly turned out to be a fatty cut. That was on me. Next time, I'll order BBQ pork l,instead. As for that "spicy" broth, they mean it. Next time, I'll also ask for a little less heat in my broth. Still, was a delicious meal which was prepared just for me. I added a large Lycee slushie to my order. It was pretty good but too large. I have to go medium next time. I couldn't finish the meal. I took it home and ate it again for breakfast the next day (I have a cast iron stomach and can eat spicy breakfasts). If this business is part of a chain where are the other restaurants? The manager said most are on Long Island. The Castleton restaurant is the only one in the Capital Region and the restaurant is largely a family-run operation. It's clean, bright, very modern and cute. There's cute wall art. Some illuminated. Others are wallpaper depicting food, pandas and the Chinese god of wealth. This is one of those places with a menu so large that you can keep coming back and not have the same meal twice. read more

Flavorful food and Good portion. Was warmly greeted upon entering. Clearly they are still working out the kinks. I ordered for "eat in" and was told they would bring it out to me. They didn't and girl kept saying an order # to the take out area seats. Turns out, that was my order. Was never told an order number. For my 2nd visit, the same thing happened to me and others, and add a new cashier 2nd visit, I had asked for my order number. I ordered for eat in and it came all wrapped to go. My first try at this (relatively) new restaurant here in E. Greenbush. I ordered the Spicy Ahi Tuna Poke Bowl and the Port Gyoza appetizer. The Poke Bowl was filling and generously portioned. The seaweed salad that came as part of the bowl was delicious, and the sauce had a nice "punch" to it. Definitely felt the spice, but nothing overwhelmingly hot. All in all, the bowl offered a good balance of flavors with a nice good amount of very fresh ahi tuna. My only negative comment here is that brown rice does not appear to be an option. I know that white sushi rice is the tradition for Poke Bowls, but it's always nice to have the option for brown rice, even if it measures a small up-charge. The gyoza was deep fried, which is really not my favorite. That said, they were flavorful and the "crunch" from the deep frying process is nice for a change. I plan on returning. The Ramen and Hibachi Noodle dishes look like they'd be fun. It's hard to find decent Ramen this side of the river, so I'm hoping for the best in that dept. In any event, the prices were reasonable, and the interior decor was fun. They even had a single table outside for those who care to sit in the sun while they eat. read more

Oh for Gods Sake what the hell......now I have to drive to this damn place and eat here all the time. I mean seriously, how good can you make it? You're going to kill me in gas and mileage coming here . I ordered the Rainbow Bowl which had a bountiful amount of both salmon and tuna. The blending of sauces (spicy, sweet, Umami, and a little sour just makes the whole mouth happy. The freshness of the tuna and salmon were noticeable and delicious. The edamame in the bowl added a delightful bit of soft crunch which complimented the softer components in the dish making the texture wonderfully balanced just as the flavor was. They really got it right here. The staff was also super friendly. Walking in they said hello to us, took our order and offered to answer any questions we had. When we were walking out they offered a friendly goodbye too. The food was out to our table quickly as well and nothing was missed in our order. Everything was perfect. Pricing was spot on as well. I spent 13.95 for my Rainbow bowl which was well worth every penny and I couldn't even finish it all although I tried my hardest because it was so damn good. The bbq pork buns were also so incredible. The pork was cooked perfectly and nestled in a warm steam bun with julienne carrots, cilantro and a delicious sauce. It was a perfect little couple of bites. All in all, I would give this restaurant more than 5 stars if I could. They deserve it in my opinion because they're just getting it all done right. And now I'm glad I decided to buy my new car instead of leasing with limited mileage because I can see I'm going to be adding some miles on it this year . Good job. Bravo! read more

So happy that this store opened up and nestled itself in Castle Hill on the Hudson. Modern decor inside, very sleek and clean. You have the option to take-out or sit in. We ordered a variety of choices from appetizers, drinks, poke and ramen. We didn't have to wait too long for our meals and ordering was made simple. We will start with the BBQ pork buns. It has sliced pork inside with herbs. Delicious but made it tough to bite into. Loved the cilantro flavor. The TAKOYAKI was also delicious and I really enjoyed eating them. My husband ordered the rainbow poke. It tasted fresh and the flavors worked well together. It also has heat to it. The ramen was really good. I ordered the Karakuchi. I added shrimp for an extra fee, well worth it. The flavor of the broth was outstanding, I really enjoyed it and you can taste that the ingredients were fresh and everything made to order. Food was good overall. Issue I had was ordering online and never getting an update on when the food would be ready. After 40 minutes I drove there and my food was sitting in a bag on the counter getting cold and stale. I asked why there was no update and they tried telling me they had called but no one answered. In the age of cell phones, this is quite impossible for a call to go through but no record of it exists. They suggested in the future to just come 20 minutes after ordering and the food should be ready. I did not appreciate the delay or neglect to update. I was even less appreciative of being lied to. This restaurant opened just a couple of months ago, and I order from them about once a week. The noodles, broth and other ingredients in their soups are delicious, taste fresh and are well prepared. The seating area is not much to write home about: this is not really a formal restaurant, but there are tables and trays if you want to eat-in, and it's well-lit and clean, so it's fine for a quick meal and occasionally I sit and eat, but most of the time I order takeout, and I have yet to be disappointed.
