    Beautifully displayed sushi & sashimi.

I took myself out for my birthday. At Tomo Asian Bistro, I ordered the most elaborate sashimi/ sushi combo meal for one that I've ever had in my life! The sushi chefs there are nothing short of amazing! The fish was very fresh and the presentation was spectacular! Check out my photos. I applied a Groupon towards the meal. I would have gladly splurged on this $23 meal even without the discount. The Capital Region has some great Asian restaurants. The sashimi/ sushi here is definitely among the very best! The wait staff here is equally awesome. My server was a young man, who was extremely well-mannered, friendly and helpful. He helped me process my Groupon in a flash. No issues. I wish I could tell you about the hot meals offered, but I haven't gotten past the sushi bar yet! Lol. There was a lot of food. My server packed up what I couldn't finish, so I could take it home. He displayed it beautifully. With the money saved from using a Groupon, I made sure to tip the sushi chefs and waiter well. I recommend this place!

Tomo is top notch. Their sushi is fresh and the portions are fair to generous. The other Asian fare is also excellent.

Popping onto Yelp just to try to bring people's attention to this criminally under-appreciated…read morelittle restaurant. I'll admit to having kind of written it off for a long time due to the weird menu/concept (it's hard to trust that a restaurant is going to serve you a burger, some empanadas and a plate of pad Thai and execute any or all of them competently), but the good people at Fusion are serving food that's truly, honestly about three times better than it needs to be (caveat: we've stuck to the more Asian sections of the menu, so I won't make any bold claims about the burgers). The Chinese portion of our family unit said that my drunken noodles reminded him of the stuff that a street vendor sold outside of his middle school, which like, IYKYK (if you don't know, this is about the highest praise a plate of noodles can get). I'm not normally a major pad Thai enthusiast, but the version here was well-balanced and flavorful, not just kind of sweet and gloppy like a lot of local versions, and the broth for the chicken noodle soup is also truly random-SE Asian-street-cart level flavorful. If that wasn't enough to sell you on this place, the draft Sapporo is five bucks. In conclusion: please come here support these nice folks so they can continue to make above-par food for many years to come.

I will admit at first I was a little nervous, the restaurant only had a total of four menus so we had to share, and we were told the bartender hadn't showed up that day. Nonetheless, I immediately got a good vibe from the guy working there. The menu had a Colombian section, a burger section and an Asian section. We all stuck with Asian dishes. It quickly became clear that the guy taking our order was the only one working. He got to work making the meals for six people. While he was cooking away, another large group of at least seven people arrived and sat themselves. You'd never know there was one guy doing everything all alone because the food was beautifully presented, all dishes were served together and man was it delicious! Everyone was very happy with their meals and we all got a variety of dishes. This is clearly a small business and definitely worth checking out. The one guy there was working so hard, but was so friendly and still attentive, despite manning the place alone. I will definitely be back to try out more

This one also has an assortment of ramen, noodle bowls and bubble teas. "Hawaii" is a chain with a remarkably large menu. I came in for poke but wound up with a rice noodle bowl, instead. Orders are placed at the counter just like a fast food joint but this isn't really fast food. Most of the food is actually made to order. The staff is really patient. They'll help you navigate the massive menu with many options. If you're dining in they'll bring your orders to your table. I picked thin rice noodles with spicy miso broth and pork belly. I also asked for most of the free toppings and the free hard boiled egg. The pork belly turned out to be a fatty cut. That was on me. Next time, I'll order BBQ pork l,instead. As for that "spicy" broth, they mean it. Next time, I'll also ask for a little less heat in my broth. Still, was a delicious meal which was prepared just for me. I added a large Lycee slushie to my order. It was pretty good but too large. I have to go medium next time. I couldn't finish the meal. I took it home and ate it again for breakfast the next day (I have a cast iron stomach and can eat spicy breakfasts). If this business is part of a chain where are the other restaurants? The manager said most are on Long Island. The Castleton restaurant is the only one in the Capital Region and the restaurant is largely a family-run operation. It's clean, bright, very modern and cute. There's cute wall art. Some illuminated. Others are wallpaper depicting food, pandas and the Chinese god of wealth. This is one of those places with a menu so large that you can keep coming back and not have the same meal twice.

On this visit, I had the Shrimp Tom Yum Noodles special while my friend ordered Chicken Tom Yum Fried Rice from the regular menu. This would be an indication that we like spicy food but knowing that Natalie makes her own spices we asked for the entrees to be "mildly" spicy. After tasting the entrees my friend declared the meals to be "crazy good," but he was glad that we ordered them mildly spicy since the spices were making his face sweat a little. He was very happy with the meal. Never one to shy away from a lycee drink, I ordered a Lycee Saketini, which I loved. It included about a 1/2 ounce of sake. We also ordered an Everett Porter Beer which tasted and looked a lot like coffee- chocolate stout. It was delicious. Our server, Ben, helped us with our drink orders. He's very knowledgeable. The restaurant is cozy, welcoming and can seat perhaps 30 people but it's important to call ahead to make sure there's enough seating. I almost forgot to mention desserts which are to die for. If you are looking for some really good sushi for a reasonable price at lunch time, Tengu Asian Bistro is definitely a place to check out. I go to Tengu Asian Bistro pretty frequently for their 3 roll lunch combo. This past time I ordered a shrimp tempura roll, spicy tuna roll, and a Philadelphia roll. The Philadelphia roll here is probably one of my favorite versions of the roll. I've ordered sushi from many places and this still holds up as either my number 1 or number 2. The spicy tuna roll again is excellent with great flavor and a good amount of crunch from the tempura flakes. The Shrimp tempura is another roll I always struggle to not order since it is quite good. I've also ordered the spicy salmon and eel avocado rolls here before among others, and they are all really great. The 3 roll lunch combo comes with your choice of either a side salad or miso soup. I prefer the salad which has an awesome dressing that comes with it, but the miso soup is also very good. Overall, I would highly recommend trying Tengu Asian Bistro if you are a fan of sushi and are looking for something to eat for lunch!
