Tucked away in a shopping strip, Hawaii Steak & Seafood House in Sumter is easy to overlook from the outside, but once you step in, you're greeted with a surprisingly clean and spacious dining area. I didn't dine in this time, I ordered my meal to-go but I still got a good feel for the space. I ordered spring rolls and shrimp and scallop hibachi. The veggies was definitely the highlight of the meal. The seafood was cooked nicely, but it was the fresh, crisp veggies that really stood out and gave the dish its balance. The portions were generous, big enough that you're not leaving hungry, and maybe even with leftovers for later. The spring rolls missed the mark for me. They lacked the veggie crunch I was hoping for and didn't have that crispy, golden snap that makes spring rolls irresistible. Instead, they leaned a bit on the soggy side, which left me wanting more texture and flavor balance. Overall, Hawaii Steak & Seafood House is one of those spots where you'll walk out full and satisfied portion-wise. The hibachi veggies shined, but a few other items could use a little fine-tuning. We had such a wonderful dining experience in Sumter Oh, the Hawaiian appetizers were absolutely delicious--fresh, flavorful, and the perfect way to start our meal. My wife ordered the Roman and loved every bite. My daughter went with the salmon bento box, which was both beautiful and tasty. And me? The sushi was alright, got the Godzilla roll and volcano roll. Like them both well enough. The egg rolls were great!!! Sadly, the ramen was terrible. The pork was so dry and the broth had a very off putting taste/smell. Great for sushi, but probably not much of anything else. read more

Lots of meat with the meals! Only place in town I eat chicken and steak hibachi. I particularly like the veggies that come with it.

My wife likes the place. I'm not a huge fan. I'm not sure what it is that turns me off. I think it is the fried rice is sub par. It's bland. But in the end my wife keeps going back for what she likes and I make something at home for me. read more

My wife and I were both pleasantly surprised at how good the sushi is here. We weren't expecting to find a new sushi place, but now we have! They have other good food as well! They have, by far, the best sushi in all of Sumter - I've tried them all. The rolls are huge and the quality is amazing. The tuna was fresh and avocado pieces were perfectly ripe. Love the food alway really good, great staff but sooo expensive!!!! The only problem they advertise 20% off, or you can get 2 sushi with a side of hibachi rice having and they sometimes will refuse the 29% off espically over the phone you have to go inside to the special. The people are nice, the food came out quick and the atmosphere is nice, however they refused to honor a 20% off coupon they advertised was good all March. The food was good, but about average as far as sushi and hibachi goes in the area, but it was much pricier than other places. They also don't really serve you and with prices as high as theirs, they should. You have to go up to the counter to order and get your own drink and they just bring the entrees out to you.
