Finally got to try Shaka Shrimp at the holiday market! It was so difficult to choose what to try, ultimately went with a CLASSIC GARLIC SHRIMP PLATE. The shrimp was juicy and the garlic sauce was amazing! Just the right amount of garlic, not too overpowering. The rice was beautifully cooked + the mac salad was delish! Tried Shaka Shrimp for the first time when they were parked for 2nd Sunday on King Street. The staff were efficient and they offered 2 high top standing tables to enjoy your order hot and fresh. Shaka shrimp came to our neighborhood and I'm so glad they did. We got the steak and coconut shrimp special. The coconut shrimp were fresh and delicious. The coating was so crispy and the guava sauce it's served with goes perfectly. Pour a little over the sticky rice! The steak was a little overcooked for my liking but the flavor made up for it. The potato Mac salad was also fantastic and the marinated cucumbers were so refreshing. I wish I could have gotten a big tub of them! We loved the Katsu chicken too. Give them a try! read more

I've seen Shaka at events and follow them on social so I've been looking forward to trying it out... especially when I saw the coconut shrimp on their menu. They were in the neighborhood and my friend went to pick up an order. We tried to do an online pre-order, but it wasn't working. Maybe you can't submit a pre-order once service starts... not sure. I got the Coconut Crunchy and it came with a scoop of sticky rice, a ramekin of sesame soy cucumbers, some potato mac salad (not sure why as I don't think there was anything potato related in there), and coconut shrimp. Everything was great and the coconut shrimp were excellent. My only gripe is that you only get five shrimp and the plate is $17. Yes, all the sides are there to justify the price and it's definitely a full meal, but I'd love to see an option to just get shrimp instead because that was my favorite part. The shrimp are big though and they butterfly them so you get lots of crunch. Even if there was an option for a large or an upgrade for few dollars more and you got eight shrimp. I guess what I'm saying is when I go to a shrimp truck, I want more shrimp. read more

This food truck is well run and friendly. I had the Shaka Shrimp and it was delicious. Grilled butterflied shrimp cooked and seasoned to perfection. It comes with a scoop of sticky rice, sliced pickled cucumbers that were the perfect sweetness, and a macaroni salad that is top 5 best I have had (includes hard boiled eggs and pieces of potato). The food is very high quality. Although I wouldn't want to spend $18 on lunch every day- when I do- it should be high quality like Shaka Shrimp. read more

I spotted this food truck at MUSC and had to stop. I'm so glad I did! I ordered their Coconut Shrimp. Six, very large and butterflied shrimp coated with the perfect coconut! A large scoop of rice, Hawaiian pickles and Mac salad. Everything was Absolutely perfect. The Husband and Wife team are so welcoming and pleasant. You can't help but love them. So.... Was going on my run and noticed this truck parked Middleton park. On my way back I stopped and grabbed some food to take home. I was so happy to see that they had a veggie option even though it is shrimp focused!!! The tofu was in a yummy peanut sauce and everything tasted fresh and delicious.
