I used to work here. Even since I have left HB has never been a bad visit to me. I am friends with colleagues here and management and they hold the restaurant together! I'll never not eat here especially when I need something moderately healthy and fast. The vibes are always fun or chill and laid back. The food is really good and worth a try. My husband and I tend to get Hawaiian Brothers at least 2x a month. He ALWAYS gets the Honolulu chicken with macaroni salad and rice. I have tried several things there though I'm not a huge meat eater. I've found my favorite so far is their Molokai chicken on their Pacific Island Salad. The Molokai chicken is listed as spicy but it's the right amount of spicy to complement the freshness of the salad. My only wish is that they had a few more options - I've gotten through the menu LOL. read more

simple opinion. I am kama'aina and grew up in Hilo. The one thing that is always wrong on the mainland with Asian or "Hawaiian" food is the rice. If it isn't Calrose it isn't right. And if the rice isn't right the whole meal falls apart. If I ate here again I would buy everything except the rice and bring it home. If I have to do that then I'll just make everything at home. Growing up in Hawaii we didn't eat potatoes. Rice was the staple in every meal. To this day I buy the biggest bags of calrose available and eat it almost daily. All of you, take my advice. Calrose is the only rice to eat. Calrose is not a brand it's a variety developed in the 50's and it spawned a black market across Asia. The owners of this restaurant should know this and if they were kama'aina they would know and insist on Calrose. read more

My mother had raved about this place being amazing to me so we went together for a lunch date. The food was okay, but I will only say it's okay. Their macaroni salad tastes odd to me and isn't that great. However, I would return again if I was going out to lunch again with my mom as the food isn't terrible... but I won't go there if just by myself. Ordered online for an at-home meal. Never tried this place but it came highly recommended. I had a large mix of pork and Honolulu chicken with a side of pineapple vs macaroni. My wife had a regular all veggie. The pork was smoke well chicken had great flavor a little rubbery, the pineapple was great. Plenty of rice to go around..Downside no sauce offered. My wife was not impressed by her meal but enjoyed mine. Would I go back...(I already have) yes they are worth trying. I have never been to Hawaii so I'm not sure if the food is considered as authentic, but it's definitely worth a try! I heard so many good things about Hawaiian Bros from social medias, but I never made the effort to drive 30 mins to try it. On my way back from Springfield, I noticed a huge sign saying "Hawaiian Bros, Next Exit!" and said this was my chance. The food was amazing and the price was super affordable. For $9-10 a meal, you get a scoop of meat, two scoops of rice and macaroni salad. That's a steal, considering how much food is in a box (see photos). My boyfriend got the basic Huli Huli chicken and I got the Molokai-- a little spicier. We came right before the dinner rush so it wasn't too crazy, but it did take 5 mins to get our meal. One thing that I didn't like was how much sauce there are. Although the teriyaki sauce was good, there was just too much that it drenched the white rice. I guess I just have to make sure to ask for less sauce next time. The workers are friendly and the place is kept clean. The decorations win hands down with the teal wall paint, surf board and Hawaii map hanging on the wall. I came back another time to try their new Dole whip and that was a hit also! I wrestled with the 3 vs. 4-star rating for a few reasons: 1. The teryaki chicken was BOMB! 2. Macaroni salad was pretty tasty. 3. Rice had no garnish or flavor. 4. Asian sodas were bland. 5. Interior was kinda dirty. Let's discuss the teryaki chicken. Super juicy, fresh never frozen delectable piece of meat. The sauce was EVERYTHING! Unfortunately, the rice that they coupled it with was slightly overcooked and gummy. When you pay $12 you expect to at least have Jasmine Rice. Nope, this was straight Mahatma LOL Later on while browsing their photos I saw some parsley dressing added to the rice so not sure how they missed it on our order. I took a few bites of macaroni salad, decent and tasted like your typical family function/BBQ side dish with a hint of spice. Asian soda, grapefruit and passion fruit, seemed like 89% water with a few squirts of artificial flavoring. Interior looked like they had a large party recently visit and didn't quite have the time to clean up properly. It wasn't trashed but our table had some sticky spots. Again, the chicken is fantastic. If they can make a few tweaks to the sides and sodas we could move on up to 4-stars. read more

Disclaimer: this is the first time I have eaten Hawaiian food. It seemed like each dish was either really sweet or really bland. I told the cashier that this was my first experience and she said her favorite thing is the #2 (Molokai chicken). I asked for a scoop of #3 (Honolulu chicken) so that I could try more than one thing. The Molokai chicken was really sweet. It was also visually indistinguishable from the Honolulu chicken. I actually went back to the counter to ask for the other meat since it didn't look like two different things! She pointed out that one half had sesame seeds on it and that's the Honolulu one. The flavor was a little different, a little less sweet, noticeable notes of garlic, and the sesame oil stood out. I made a sandwich of the Molokai chicken. Which left the rice and Honolulu chicken for lunch tomorrow. Portion sizes were decent. Sides? Plain white rice. Plainest macaroni salad I've ever had. Seriously tasted like it was made with just mayo and cracked pepper. Color me unimpressed. This meal needs more flavor notes, pickles or something acidic and crunchy would be very welcome to break things up a bit. read more

I still dig this place anytime I go. Previously, I heard it took a while for people to get their food, but I have not had this problem. Food always comes out hot and fresh. The meat is tender which I like. I wish it was a little cheaper but the portion size is good for the regular plate so I won't complain. All the sauces are sweet and salty which makes it so yummy. People on Yelp say they don't like the macaroni but when you eat it with the rice and meat, it balances out from the sugary salty sauce. I would check it out to see if it's your thing. I wouldn't say it's crazy unique or anything, but good for a bite if you like rice and meat. read more

Freaking AMAZING! My hubby and I had our first delectable tasting tonight. It was super busy so we went through the drive thru. We wanted to try as much as possible. My husband got the combo of Honolulu Chicken and Luau Pig with veggies and rice. So, first off, both were so great! The pig tasted like an amazing pulled pork. Oh my goodness! The Honolulu Chicken had such a great blend of garlic and sesame. So phenomenal! I ordered the Huli Huli Chicken and Molokai Chicken. Both were great. The Huli Huli was more the regular teriyaki chicken and super yummy. But, the Molokai...oh my! Great blend of sweet with a bit of spice. We both ordered the Dole Whip and ate it in the way home. It was light and not super sweet. Just the right blend! Overall, this place is one of my new faves! I am super excited for the new restaurant in NKC and LS! This is a must try! read more

I ordered the classic Huli Huli Chicken. I was pleasantly surprised with the amount of food I received. There are 3 different sizes to choose from: small, classic and large. I opt in for the classic which includes a ball scoop of rice, a bed of rice, plenty of chicken, and a scoop of their delicious macaroni salad. The chicken was cooked perfectly and I enjoyed the sweet teriyaki sauce that is mixed in with the dish. The macaroni salad is like none other! Seasoned very well and creamy. I ended up getting an extra side of Mac and I'm so happy I did. I would definitely say it's worth the money. In fact I was more than satisfied with my meal that I went back the next following day. The menu has lots of options if you don't want the macaroni salad or rice, you can sub in fresh veggies. The protein options and flavors are great. It's simple and delicious and a much needed reprieve from drive-thru on the way to south Missouri. YES! I love Hawaii, love Hawaiian food and honestly I thought my Honolulu Chicken was better than some I've had in Hawaii. I've been there over 30 times and they usually like the fat still on the chicken but I don't usually prefer that so this was better in that regard. The rice and pasta salad was spot on and so was the Spam Musabi!!! I've never had Spam Musabi outside of Hawaii until now, THANKS! We now need one of these in NE Ohio! read more

I've generally been heartbroken with Hawaiian joints anywhere east of Las Vegas but this place has a great plate lunch. True to form, they give generous portions, significant rice, and peppery mac salad. They also have Spam musubi and nice touches like furikake toppings. In all honesty, the chicken reminds me more of the teriyaki joints in Seattle which probably makes sense since I think the proprietors are from the Northwest. This isn't necessarily a bad thing since the sauce and marinades are sweet and heavy in all the right/wrong ways. I'd recommend that the musubi get another look at. While it's not wrong, I think the Spam slice was a little thin, and it crisped a little too long. In my ranking of flavors: 1) Molokai - reminds me of Chicken Adobo with a little spice 2) Honolulu - good but not enough garlic flavor 3) Original - seemed a little lacking in marinade compared to the others Pro-tip: Order a classic size (which gives you enough rice and mac) then add extra meat. read more

Giant portions and no wait on a Thursday night. The place is airy and welcoming. If you are looking for a filling and delicious comfort food option, you are at the right place. The one star was deducted because the added side of vegetables was meager compared to the rice and pasta salad. The large mixed plate might have less meat overall than a regular large plate. Overall, the food is very salty and sweet, and the pasta salad is very rich and oily. Comfort food indeed, but would love to have more veggies and less carbs. read more

I love that this place has food that is somewhat different than other 'fast food' type restaurants. It's very close to some Asian cuisines (they have chopsticks to use). Food: They have excellent teriyaki sauce and their pasta salad is to die for. I am afraid they dont have very many options to choose form - so if you're a vegetarian your only option is veggies/rice/pasta salad.. all one type of carb and literally nothing else. Their menu mainly consists of chicken, pork, veggies, pasta salad, and rice... you get LOTS of steamed white rice. They do have one salad option that includes onion, mushroom, and oranges - which I don't find very appealing but to some I'm sure the combination is fine. They're beginning to sell dole whip - we sampled the raspberry and it was amazing! The mango was terrible (not only the flavor, but the texture was waxy and just overall a bad dish). The cleanliness of the restaurant is great - so is the atmosphere. Customer service was 5/5, but not enough to raise my average rating, unfortunately. I dont plan to frequent this place, but I would suggest it as a fun, quick place to grab a bit before a movie or something. Wow...very expensive and smaller portions. Seems like since they've opened its become more expensive and portions are small.

This food is what was missing from my life and I can't get enough. I've tried everything on the menu and it's all delicious. If I had to pick a favorite, it would be the Honolulu chicken but you can get a mixed plate with any two meats and be thrilled. Great portions too. The food here is simple, yet good. If it wasn't such a hike for me, I'd be there more frequently. Hawaiian flavors in the middle of the Mainland, what more can we ask for. The first time I went there, they were out of the Kalua pig, which was understandable, because it's a favorite. So I got the Huli Huli chicken platter and was happy with it. The second time I got a combo plate with Kalua pig and Molokai chicken. I liked the Molokai chicken the least but it's good. I getting a craving for the macaroni salad ever now and then.
