    tori with chicken

Yummy!!!! Wish i had one of these in San Diego. We ordered on the computer. Service was fast and efficient. The restaurant is spacious and clean. We ordered the roti with chicken, green beans and the garlic ginger fish. Everything was excellent. The green beans order was quite large. It was so tasty that i just couldn't stop eating it. There was plenty of moisture chicken in the roti. I'm not a fish person but I also really liked the garlic ginger fish! If i return to Vancouver i would definitely eat here again!

Tasty Malaysian place that replaced Kaya (another Malaysian place) on Broadway. There are several locations around town. Finally got to see what the hype was about. Parking here sucks. Can't help you here. The interior is nice and large and modern. Looks like they didn't renovate too much since Kaya. Staff are friendly. I was told to try the pulut panggang (leaf wrapped rice rolls). I went for the ugang (spicy shrimp paste) one which was pretty tasty. There's also a coconut option. I also had their nasi lemak. Served with a crispy piece of something with boiled eggs, cucumbers, some sambal sauce, and meat. Hit the spot. Tasted nice and authentic. Overall the experience was pretty solid. I'd come back to try some other dishes. Recommended.

This restaurant has nicely spaced out seats, clean and friendly servers. It was a calm and relaxing and we didn't feel rushed. The food was delicious and came out quickly. There were a few customer parking spots in the back, but we had to park in the underground which was expensive.

Solid spot for Malaysian food. Lots of tables and good for large groups. Easy to share dishes. Satay skewers were yummy, as well as the roti canai. The noodles and rice dishes were easily my favorites too. The ribs were so good as well.

I will introduce a restaurant I found on my way to Richmond area. It's hard to tell from the street, however, I recognized it as a restaurant because people came and went. This was a Malaysian restaurant. I ordered the most popular Char Koay Teow and Roti Canai in the restaurant. This is my first time eating Char Koay Teow, but I eat something that looks like a light and puffy pie dough with curry sauce and salt. Roti Canai has a strong flavor of thick noodles, vegetables, shrimp, and stir-fried. All the staff at the store are kind and good service. If I get the chance, I'd like to try soup noodles next time.

The food here is amazing! I highly recommend the char koay teow as it's perfectly cooked and has that wok flavoring. The chicken in the nasi lemak has a sticky sweet sauce and is very tender and juicy. The service is great too.

We've ordered some takeout food from this location before. I think my hubby has eaten in this restaurant before, but for myself and everyone else at the table, it was our first time dining in this restaurant. On the table: Beef Rendang Bak Kut Teh Sambal Fish Green Beans Nyonya Eggplants Roti Canai Roti Canai with Chicken Char Kuey Teow Ipoh Char Hor Fun Lamb Kapitan Lor Bak Whole Roast Chicken Coconut Rice Sambal Mixed Vegetables Some dishes were hit and miss. Food quality overall is better at the Richmond location. This one is still pretty good though overall. Kinda on the greasy side though. Hubby felt a bit too greased out when we came home. I didn't eat as many dishes since I don't eat meat so that might be why I wasn't feeling quite as greased out as he was. I think my favourites were the Roti Canai and the Nyonya Eggplants. You have to order from an electronic tablet and then let your server know once you've finished sending your order. Service: Good Parking: Paid parking on the street

We had 4 orders of Roti Canai!!! It comes with sugar.

We came here for the Roti. Ordering 4 whole orders - it's good, light, fluffy. They give you a little sugar to dip in and it works well, though the regular curry sauce works quite well. It's a light sauce. Roti slightly sweet. We also ordered green beans and eggplant. Really good fish garlic flavour in this dish which I absolutely loved. Ordering is via an iPad. Service seems decent.

It's been a while since I've been here and my experience is still 5 stars! It was a cold day so my friend and I got soup noodles. We ordered the prawn noodle and ipoh char hor fun, as well as a pulut hitam for dessert. The servings were generous so we were very full after our meal! We've also never had those dishes before so everything was new for us. The service was good (waitress would always come by to refill our water or ask how we're doing) but the food was better! The dessert was also warm and slightly sweet and the perfect way to end our meal on a cold day.

    Hokkien char mee

Parking for this restaurant was limited to a couple stalls in the back so we were glad to get there right before opening. Ambiance was a little darker than I expected but the place was quite spacious inside. We were seated right away and our server explained the use of the tablet for ordering. It was a little odd that not all the menu items had photos or even a description of the dish. As soon as we made our selections we motioned to our server, she confirmed the order and asked about any food allergies before submitting. I would say that in less than 10 minutes we got our first entree and then quickly the rest. The beef rendang with potatoes was tender and covered in a nice curry. The char kway teow had a smoky hint to the noodles and a decent amount of seafood and Chinese sausage. The Hokkien char mee was just ok as it contained too much sauce but not a lot of toppings. Besides the fast service, staff also came by frequently to refill our water. We would return on another visit to Vancouver.

Solo lunch rainy Monday. Not too busy. Ambience is warm and well lit but also cozy. Friendly and prompt service. Menu on tablet. Ordered quickly and both roti and ginger fish arrived quickly within 7 min. Roti was flaky but a bit under inside - however with the dipping sauce all was perfect and big portions. Ginger fish with coconut rice was delicious. Price was reasonable.

Given how much I loved laksa, John 3:16 Malaysian Delights was our first stop for our first visit to Vancouver after moving to Washington. To start off - we didn't know this going in, but there are a couple of parking spots, maybe enough for 4 cars, behind the building. It doesn't seem like many people know about them since only two spots were taken even though there were many more parties eating inside. We entered at about 1:30 PM on Saturday and everything went quickly. This seems to be a well run and efficient restaurant. They bring a tablet out for ordering, which makes the place seem less friendly, but the servers are very attentive and available for any questions. Roti Canai ($10.95) - Two pieces of roti canai are included along with a small cup of curry and a spoonful of granulated sugar. The roti is smashed and flaky on the exterior to make it an appealing mound of carbs. Unfortunately, I could feel as I ripped through the first piece that the interior was undercooked, being very doughy and too moist. The roti itself tastes slightly sweet, with notes of toasted marshmallow. The curry is also very sweet and there's a pile of sugar on the side to amp the saccharine qualities up even further. I've never had roti canai this sweet before; With that much sugar, it's almost like a dessert. Not what I expected. (3/5) Kari Laksa, Medium ($15.95) - Again, another pretty sweet dish, but at least balanced by seafood based umami notes in the broth. Included are tender chicken pieces, shrimp, fish cake, a small amount of bean sprouts, and some fried tofu puffs, which are a bit on the firm side. There's a large amount of sliced green beans, firm and crunchy, and half of a hard boiled egg. The egg noodles are plentiful, making this dish quite filling with the rich broth. The dark meat chicken is boneless without any cartilage or gristle, and its flavor is strong enough to hold its own against the flavorful broth. The laksa overall is still a little on the sweet side. (4/5) Char Koay Teow, Mild ($15.95) - The dish arrives steaming hot with bouncy rice noodles, great lard enhanced soy flavor with a tiny bit of spice riding on top. Bountiful ingredients, including rectangular, thinly sliced fish cake, garlic chives, egg, shrimp, Chinese sausage, minced garlic, etc, make it a smorgasbord of a dish. There's an amazing wok hei smoky flavor that envelopes every ingredient. The heat kisses the chives and bean sprouts so that they're softened yet still retain a crisp flavor and texture, while it transforms the beaten eggs into a fluffy cloud of protein. Since the Chinese sausage is thinly sliced on a bias, it caramelizes nicely and renders it to an-almost chewy texture without being greasy. Somehow, despite the immense firepower, the noodles are the perfect texture - neither too dry nor soggy, and the amount of liquid in the dish is perfect, leaving no dregs left at the bottom of the plate. My favorite dish by far and the only one I didn't find to be too sweet. (5/5) Despite being a bit too sweet for my tastes, maybe the result of being Westernized a bit too much, John 3:16 Malaysian Delights serves some decent to good Malaysian (inspired?) cuisine. It wouldn't be part of my regular rotation, but if I lived in Vancouver, I'd probably visit occasionally. Washrooms - Two rooms, one for each gender.

    Chicken Satay - very good

However, I was a bit disappointed but not too much as prices were decent depending on what you get. We got the chicken laksa, Nasi goreng, Mongolian chicken, and kuih lapis. Chicken laksa is the ideal order as the soup is decent and the pricing is fair. It is not the best as the soup didn't carry much flavor and the noodles were a bit on the softer side. It was filling however. Nasi goreng is solid. The vegetables felt frozen reheated and wilted, but at least the cucumbers were fresh. The amount of shrimp, squid, and fish cakes was dismal. Flavor profile is good. The Mongolian chicken is okay. It's not fried as the batter is quite soft. It is saucy which my friends were craving. I enjoyed the flavor profile of this one though. The dessert is good. Kuih Lapis is a colorful dessert so it appealed to me in both taste and presentation. One red flag I noticed is that I heard beep after beep of microwave sounds. It's as if all the dishes they prepared well in advance and just reheat for us, plus they walled off the kitchen and the back completely, giving the impression that they want to hide something. Most renowned places won't hide the back like that, as you can at least take a peek of what's cooking behind the scenes in most places. Service is good as they refill complimentary tea throughout our dining experience. Pay at the front for the bill.
