We contracted a new flagstone patio area with a beautiful new powered bar, fire-pit, bench, wall and gate. They were very helpful about fleshing out our ideas and suggesting improvements. They did an amazing job of matching the style and colors of our original flagstone. They were very professional and responsive to all our concerns and remained flexible about changes that developed during construction. The bar was built a little higher than we had agreed to, so our construction manager gave us a discount on a higher foot rest and kick plate. We heard about Hawkeye Landscaping on KTAR FM Radio via a commercial for their services. I called them to see if they would provide an estimate for what we envisioned for our landscaping update. Gordon, a landscape designer, came out and we discussed what we had planned. He was very helpful regarding guidance and provided drawings of what he proposed. We wanted to add a paver drive from the street up to our RV gate, additional pavers from the sidewalk up to our front door with an additional paved front patio area and pony wall for privacy. We also wanted the existing back covered cement patio covered with pavers and extend the area on both sides, along with a separate paver area for additional outdoor furniture. We also had hard wired lighting, plants and irrigation added to the project along with some exiting boulders that needed to be moved. After receiving a written estimate we decided to hire them to do the work. They provided a schedule and followed through on everything they promised. They cleaned up everyday, and of course upon completion of the project. The crews were very respectful and always professional. We are very happy with their services, and are confident that if any follow up is needed, they will be ready to provide what is necessary to ensure we remain happy. Kelly is amazing! He came out (on time) and sketched up a complete transformation of our backyard in a matter of minutes. We had a total makeover that he guaranteed to be completed in a week and a half in time for the 4th of July. He made the deadline and our backyard was completely transformed. We now have a smaller yard with lush landscaping, a beautiful travertine tile extended patio that compliments the existing cool deck, multiple palms, and additional gorgeous flowers. We cannot say enough good things about Hawkeye Landscaping. Everything about our experience exceeded expectations. After calling to set up a free consultation, Gordon was able to come out and do a design concept and estimate within a few days. He was patient and open to changes that we made after the initial estimate, and his costs were all clearly stated and itemized. After we finalized the design, work began in less than a week, and was completed in 3 days! Gordon returned all of my texts/calls within minutes and was on-site each day to ensure we were happy with the work that was being done. This is so difficult to write especially when you like the people. One thing that gets me is when i look at my so called orange tree. This was planted in 2009. First few years it produced nothing but I felt --i do not know this stuff probably the tree is growing. Now it is July 2020--over the past several years it has produced 18 oranges---totally. I do not mean 18 a season but 18 over all the years. When I spoke to Julie(?) she advised to expand the irrigation lines to align with the canopy of the trees. I also ordered a fig, lime and lemon. The lime tree turned out to be a lemon tree (remember in my case these were not mature so the first few years I had no idea what it should be doing.) The lemon tree turned out to be a mexican lemon (not sure if that is correct my landscaper told me that.) However, this does not bother me because the lemons come out the size of a silver dollar. I cut it in half & it is perfect for two drinks. Seems the fig tree is holding its own --except when I talk to others they invite me over to take some of their figs--they have so many--unfortunately, not my case. My last negative comment involved asking them when they ran the irrigation to make it 2 runs one for the trees one for the plants. They nicely did that; however, I also asked them to widen my driveway with pavers with a pull off for a car on the side of the garage. A few years ago, we had a water leak under the driveway. When my landscaper dug around the pavers he said there are no pvc pipes extended. They had to rip up a 4 by 4 section of pavers to get to the end of the concrete driveway, where they found the ends of the original pvc pipes that carried the irrigation tubes. Would it have been that much trouble for them to add the 4 foot pvc extensions when they were laying down the pavers in the first place? So instead of being able to get to the irrigation runs at the end of the pavers the runs had to be dug up to get to the original pvc pipes starting at the ends of the driveway. Folks there will always be positive/ negative reviews when you look at a company. As other reviews have shown they were happy but I had to enlighten you about my experience. read more

Hawkeye Landscaping and their crews did an amazing job transfering my native desert landscape into a beautiful, livable yard. I had over an acre that needed irrigation, plants, trees, and hardscape. The design process and execution was seemless and the final result looks great. The crew was always on time and always friendly and professional. They worked with me on changes and made the process pretty painless. The office staff are super friendly as well. i had to have them back to fix an irrigation issue, and they did so in a timely manner. I'm knocking down a star only because some of the plant selection received was very young and small for the price, and would have expected slightly more mature specimens. Our experience with this company was fantastic. Kelly came out and gave us an estimate for both a concrete walkway, and a paver patio. Richard, the concrete man, came out when he said he would, framed up the walkway, and came back when he told us he would, and poured the walkway. He was very conscientious about his work and it turned out great. Then the paver crew came out two days early, put in 8 hours of labor-intensive work, cleaned up the work area, then left. They came back the next morning bright and early, put in another 8 hours of work, cleaned up the area then left. They came back the next morning, picked up the items that they left behind, then raked the rock back into place. Kevin, the lead man, came by to check on the job to make sure everything was as expected. Then Kelly came out the next day to make sure we were pleased with the finished job. We love, love, love our new paver patio. I highly recommend this company. read more

We had an estimator/designer come out and show me pictures and go over ideas and cost. What I did like was that the invoice is broken out so that you can pick what part of the project you want to start or decide not to do. Also like the completion time was done very fast to level area, intall curbing, install sprinkler/drip system, one timer, lay sod with options for rock and concrete to follow. For the curbing told them want it level with concrete patio which we planned on extending to the curbing, when the curbing was layed was visibly higher and when asked designer was told would be leveled once addition to patio was completed. When we did a walk through of the drip system there were more than asked for and explination was that down the road we may want to add, was upset because paid for lines and drip heads that did not need. Also the grass area was not leveled and they had to comeback and put sand in it. They left me a pile and told me to keep adding, I was shocked that I paid for a service that I would have to fix. After the grass portion was done we never recieved a call to see if we wanted to continue or if we were happy with what we have so far. We went with a seperate company for the rocks and concrete which I wish could say we were surprised but the curbing is still higher than the addition to the patio that was told by this company that it would not be that way. The $450 timer was installed and after our second year it is not working so we called to see if any warrenty, they want $100+ to come out to look at it and the warrenty expired after the first year so if needed replaced would have to buy a new one. read more

I recommend against this company. They tried to rip us off by installing a deceptively similar but much smaller deck than we had agreed to. If I hadn't measured it and complained they would have gotten away with much less material cost. Then they tried to place a Lien on our home. Again it required vigorous complaining to get this addressed. They use overworked underpaid workers who ignored basic safety procedures. read more

It was one of the most amazing experiences we have had working with any type of company. Gordon came out as promised, right on time, and listened to some of our thoughts for completely relandscaping our front yard. We did not have a lot of experience or creativity in formulating a design ourselves and that's where Gordon really stepped up. Our finished yard is beautiful far beyond our expectations, to the point where strangers stop and compliment us. Communication throughout the process was like no other, Angel and his crew were phenomenal, everything was neat and tidy at the end of each day and the job was finished on time. We just finished a total backyard makeover. Kelly, the owner met with us several times to tweak the design so it matched what we had always dreamed of. Everything went exactly as he said it would with no surprises and absolutely no issues. Dave, the foreman, was just as fantastic with his responsibilities. Every night the job sight was cleaned up. All of their employees were courteous and hard working. Kelly added a large L shaped BBQ island and an incredibly beautiful fireplace to our specifications and many many square ft of pavers for a large entertaining area. To say I'm disappointed in the work of Hawkeye Landscaping is an understatement. I paid to have my front and back yard landscaping done almost two years ago this August. Initially, my yard looked great and I didn't think there were any problems. Of course, someone called from the front office asking if I would write a review online, but I never did and I'm now glad that I didn't. I quickly realized there were some leaks and water was building up where my valves were for the drip system -- along with some other leaks. I had them come out and check things a couple of times and after about 5 minutes Daniel told me that everything was OK. I'm not sure he even looked at anything, to be honest. Daniel told me this crazy excuse of my valve box being lower than the tree and shrubs that were nearby so that was why there was water collecting in there each time the drip system ran. I didn't know if it was possible or not -- it sounded a little fishy, but I thought they were the experts. I should have trusted my gut and known that it was a lie and they were taking advantage of someone who didn't know any better. I also had a tree in the back that died and I had them replace and it died again. Long story short, the pipes to the valves were leaking from day one -- the amount of my water bills were almost double of what they should be and I didn't understand why so many of my plants looked horrible and were dying or died on me. Hawkeye told me the drip system was setup a certain way, even wrote it down on a card, and come to find out after spending time trying to investigate and figure out what was wrong, the system was the exact opposite of what the card said. The tree I had die twice, I finally figured out the drip line wasn't even on to that tree, from day one! I thought Hawkeye was the expert, so I trusted them to choose plants for my yard that would live and look good -- my HOA has pages and pages to choose from, which I gave to Hawkeye for reference. They planted 7 of Perry's Penstemon in my front yard that looked dead after about the first month they were planted. Now, granted this could have been because the watering was all wrong from the start, but that plant (after doing some research) pretty much looks dead most of the year in the Phoenix desert. Why on earth would you plant 7 of those in my front yard if you knew what you were doing?! So, almost two years later I've had to replace a dozen plants and a tree and spent crazy amounts of money on high water bills. Meanwhile, I had to hire someone else to come and do more planting and fix the valves and the leaks in the drip system costing me close to $2000. I forgot to mention that Hawkeye is crazy expensive to start, but I went with them because they offer financing and I liked that they were licensed. Frankly, I've discovered that licensing means nothing when it comes to landscapers and the quality of their work. Sadly, I'm still paying on the poor work that they did initially. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!!!! UPDATE: The comment below left by Hawkeye is exactly why you shouldn't use them. I contacted them several times: first because the gate was scratching the pavers when you opened and closed it as well as leaks, second and third times were for leaks and one where you could see a giant water spot on my backyard fence where it was leaking (but, no, it was all fine according to Daniel) and fourth to replace the dead tree and dead shrubs. I finally stopped contacting them because Daniel kept telling me everything was fine and I wanted to believe them since I just paid them gobs of money to landscape my yard. Plus, the times I contacted Kelly directly to discuss problems he told me to call the office and acted as if he was annoyed with me. I've owned a home before that had just as many plants and trees as my current one, so the doubling of the water bill should not be happening! If this company cared about me as a customer they would have responded asking how they could make things better. Instead they throw the blame on me and there's no accountability for poor work on their part. Can't say I'm surprised. I didn't write this review to get back at them -- I wrote it so that honest people don't get taken advantage of and have the experience that I did. I went online and read reviews and so forth and thought Hawkeye was a a great option, but unfortunately I was mistaken. Like I said before, DON'T USE THIS COMPANY!!!!! read more

Hawkeyes Landscaping is awesome! I love their work and creativity. I moved to Phoenix 2 years ago, and our yard in Surprise was terrible. It had been abused by the previous owners for years. It was a trash and dog feces dump. Kelley and Kevin completely renovated it. There are citrus trees, bushes, patios, walkways, flagstones, and berms. They created an area for herbs and vegetables. The employees worked hard for 5 days, and rarely took time for lunch. They guaranteed their work and their products.
