Skip these guys. There's got to be better. Only half of the plants they planted 3 years ago are thriving. 5 out of 11 kept dying despite watering. They came out twice to replace dead plants per their "guarantee". I just don't think they know how to plant. And, most of the stone tiles they installed around the edge of the patio are dislodged, unbonded. They slide off and we have to push them back in place. Company wasn't cheap either. Regarding your response below, I assume you are referring to the palms trees that we really wanted and were warned might not do well here. They are actually fine. It's the ones you recommended that are half thriving. And whether it was a year ago or 3, I don't think the tiles should be coming off already. read more

We hired Hawkeye for a major amount of work around our property this year. The person named Connor sent me an email providing Eddie as a trimmer they use. He made it appear he was one of their trimmers. He never said he does not work for them. We were finally ready to redo our front yard after living in this house for over 10 years and never liking the yard but not having the funds for such a project. We met with a couple of landscaping companies before deciding to go with Hawkeye. They weren't the lowest in price, but Connor was very personable and quick to respond, and we loved the story of the company and really wanted to support them. Connor provided a quote and 3D mockup the same day he came out to meet with us (other companies were taking weeks and didn't offer 3D images). He listened to what we said we liked and did not like and did his best to incorporate it into the design. He helped us get the approval from our HOA and the team was ready to begin work immediately after. If you want a company that will handle all of the planning and decision making and get the job done quickly, they are the ones to call. We were more hands on because this was a big spend for us that we've been waiting a decade to do, so it was important to us to have it be something we love. They were understanding and patient with us, answering our many questions and addressing concerns, and allowing us the time we needed to decide on rock colors and plant types, design changes, etc. Once we felt good about it, they were very quick. The entire job was done in two days. Dave and his team were professional and courteous. Dave was extremely accommodating and truly a joy to talk to (his wife and I share a love of rocks and I kept discovering unique stones amongst the Palomino Gold rip rap and pointing them out to him). He made sure he chose boulder colors that we would like, he caught a leak that we didn't know about, he even brought a little sample bag of the gravel before bringing the truckload because he knew I was worried about it (the sample I picked up was from a different rock yard and I know Apache Brown is one that can change quite a bit) and my husband I loved it more than the sample we already had so that really put us at ease. I just can't say enough great things about Dave and how much we appreciated having him on the job! Everything turned out really gorgeous. The gravel and rip rap, once they rinsed it all off, are so beautiful. Connor was spot on with those color suggestions! We were limited on where we could put boulders and plants because we have multiple boxes in the yard (such as cable) and an underground battery for the solar streetlight which occasionally has to be dug up and I think it's the best it can be considering the limitations. The only two constructive criticisms would be that we didn't know the plants would be quite as small as they are and it would be helpful to give the option to upgrade to a larger size for the slowest growers (like our agaves & golden barrel), and that there could have been a little more rip rap to fill in a couple areas where you can see the dirt between the larger rocks, but I think we can shift around some smaller chunks to fill the gaps. Still, overall, 5 stars and highly recommend! We will refer everyone we know needing work done, and we would not hesitate to use Hawkeye again down the road. We chose Hawkeye Landscaping after meeting with a couple of other companies because they were the one company that didn't have to hire outside subcontractors. After looking at the estimates, this made us feel comfortable. We didn't want to take the chance of one company blaming the other. That and their timeline were why they were the best overall value. We were looking for quite a few things - they got it all done while dealing with the dogs, horses, and goats. Phase one was a laundry list of small projects that made the entire property look much better. We needed to clean up an area of our property and enclose it so we could use it for a garden this spring. We wanted three separate barriers near our home to keep water from irrigation away from the house. We wanted a large patio just outside our back sliding doors and another smaller patio (or concrete slab) on the other side of our home just below the dog door. Finally, we needed our horse pasture, part of our backyard, and part of our front yard graded so irrigation water would flow effortlessly from the back of our property to the front yard so that grass could grow in all three places and trees would get adequate water. They got it all done! The dogs bring in much less dirt, the entire property gets water, and we have rock-filled concrete barriers that protect our home from water. I had a review on yelp last month and Hawkeye landscaping asked me several times to take it down and said that they would comply and would plant a new palm and finally plant the flowers in the pot that were covered under warranty. I have emailed them several times and have not heard a word since I took the negative review down on October 15th. Below is my initial review and then I thought we had come to an agreement and we were all going to be happy but I haven't heard a word from them since October 14. They were responsive at first and then there were things they were supposed to come back and repair during the warranty period and they just dropped the ball and will not come back. Their warranty. Is very short, 90 days for palm trees planted right before the summer season does not seem enough. But I agreed to that and so I guess there's nothing to be done about it but my flower pot that I notified them three times before the warranty was up that the flowers were al dead and they promised to come back and then haven't, well, that is another story. read more

I had architectural sheet metal project to be done. I have columns by my front gate wrapped in rusted steel that had rusted through. I can't write enough good things about Connor and Hawkeye Landscaping! Connor came to the house and we walked the back and front discussing what I would like done with the Landscaping. Connor was very attentive to what I wanted and also made very good recommendations and options for me. I would consider what we had done a major landscaping project that included removing two large trees that were damaging the driveway because of the location. Removing some bushes and replanting bushes, plants and a replacement tree. Hawkeye also installed a new irrigation system, new landscape lighting, a courtyard pergola, a backyard pergola, Pet Turf in the back and constructed a built in grill from ground up that included a drawer, a door and ran the gas line and electrical to it. There wasn't anything I asked for that Connor couldn't do. It's obvious that Hawkeye Landscaping has very skilled landscapers who took their time and did above and beyond just a good job. Buyer beware!! We had them do some work in our backyard a few years ago and had a problem recently with a few pavers buckling. We called to ask them to come take a look - which they did immediately - but the did the work without consulting us. It was three pavers and took less than 10 minutes to fix.......we then got a bill for $295 later today for a "service fee" that was never disclosed to us. To make things worse, when we called back to ask questions, their owner (Julie) was so rude and condescending that we will never do business with them again in the future. They clearly don't value your business - or any repeat business - and have no idea about customer service. This $295 fee was never disclosed to us when we made the service appointment - if so - we wouldn't be in this situation. Do your homework and shop around!! read more

I give them a D. The worker bees are nice. The salesman could sell used cars. The prices are high (490) for 2 -5 gallon aloe plants. That were not 5 gallon and 390 for 3 rose bushes. They also need to changed the sprinklers to bring them to the new plants. But they did not test the them. When i went to turn them on , they didn't work. When i wrote a letter to the owner, i never heard back. Just poor customer service. read more

If you want them to build a wall or do masonry work find a professional, because these guys are not. 1. ) They had to build my wall twice. After I caught them trying to pass off a bowed crooked wall as finished. 2.) There is no drainage. So with just a little rain i have 1.5" of standing water right out side my front door. Drainage should have been factored into what they built. 3.) Will not listen to customers. I was overridden on what i wanted. They build what is quick and easy for them. read more

Gordon worked with the HOA to get the design and installation of the front lawn done ASAP. We needed to remove shrubs and plants after 17 years, replace the entire irrigation system, and work around the stump of a huge palo verde tree. The design managed to give us a tree again in front along with a nice xeriscape yard. In back they redid all the irrigation, installed a couple more trees, provided the soil, stakes and wire within 3 planters for gardening. The balance of the backyard will be done once we've decided upon a final design with Gordon. The price was reasonable, and all of the crew were great. They kept in good communication throughout the project and left the site very clean. Would highly recommend them and I've worked with a lot of companies over the years. After a week I contacted the business to make sure they had my correct email. The business was not positive who they sent to my house but promised as soon as the bid comes in they will send it out. 20+ days later I'm still waiting, and the business won't answer my messages. It has taken me a minute to sit down and write this review partially because I knew I wanted it to be thorough, detailed, and accurate. The short version is: I loved my experience with Hawkeye! We bought our house in March 2020 and the landscaping left, well, a lot to be desired. There was a little of everything: some sad rocks, some sadder grass, a handful of kooky plants, and more than a few tree stumps. I knew I had a lot of change in mind, and I expected that the amount of money I had set aside was probably not going to cover my vision. I called Hawkeye on the recommendation of my husband, who had heard their radio ads. The woman who took my call said Kelly would be calling me but that it might be five days or so. I think it was within two days that Kelly called and set up a consult visit. Kelly came out, walked the whole property with me, and listened to my non-green-thumb-having explanations of what I wanted: "I want angular plants, not froufrou plants." Immediately after the visit he supplied me with an itemized proposal and drawing. It was the yard of my dreams--firepit and river swale and boulders and trees and plants plants plants and all new hardscape front and back and a paved pathway connecting them--but it was more than I could spend. This didn't faze Kelly at all; he worked with me to get the number down to where I could afford it and he made sure all the areas of my property got redone, even if not the wholesale makeover I dreamed of. I signed the contract and Kevin from Hawkeye showed up promptly on the start date. The whole time the crew was on the job, they worked tirelessly--and cheerfully--to redo my yard. I was amazed at the amount of progress they made every single day. When it came time to buy plants, Kevin maximized my money by handpicking some downright enormous 1-gallon plants instead of 5-gallon ones, thereby getting me like 50% more plant coverage. They dug up and hauled away my tree stumps, resodded my back lawn, and contoured and planted the whole front--in addition to all the hardscape work. Every single day, they tidied up like it was their own home. Kevin kept the job on schedule, seemed to keep his crew happy, and frequently communicated with me. Once I have some more money saved up, I will 100% reach out to Hawkeye to even more fully realize my vision. But for now, both my front yard curb appeal and my backyard relaxation oasis are beautiful and livable. I would entirely recommend this company to my friends--and I have!--without reservation. Hawkeye was professional to deal with, prompt, and the work they completed is beautiful. They did a major yard renovation for me including removal of a large number of plants and vines and demolition of the previous hardscape, replacing with pavers and all new plants. They found someone to install an additional gate, and they built a beautiful wall to hide my ac unit. They worked with me on an appropriate design, which included a fountain to be installed at a later time. I really appreciated how fast Hawkeye was. They promised to finish in 8 days and they did, right on the button. This was a major project that was necessarily disruptive to the whole neighborhood, and my neighbors appreciated the quick turnaround, as did I. Unfortunately I can't give Hawkeye 5 stars because of an oversight having to do with my fountain installation. I was referred to Phoenix Precast for fountain purchase, and they had certain requirements for installation, including pvc pipe water and a concrete foundation at the fountain site. This could easily have been done at the same time the patio pavers were installed, but was not. Since my Hawkeye coordinator talked with Phoenix Precast several times, I would think he would have been aware of these requirements. After job completion Hawkeye sent a tech out who indicated it would be quite a big job to install water at the fountain site, for an additional charge to me. At that point installing the pvc pipe would have required removal and reinstallation of pavers. I elected to go with a different, more expensive fountain company. The fountain is connected to the sprinkler system, which is not ideal. Perhaps I should have been more specific about requesting pvc pipe under the pavers to connect to my house, but it was all going by pretty fast and I was learning as I went. I really feel they could have helped me more with this. Otherwise I would recommend Hawkeye - they are a cut above most landscape companies I interviewed. read more
