Not cool. I am disgusted that Haworth Fish was involved in a fish poaching ring. I have bought fish from them for 4 years and hope that I was not being sold fish caught illegally. According to the California Department of fish and wildlife report "Wildlife officers investigated David Haworth, 60, of San Diego, and Nicholas Haworth, 28, of La Jolla, who were buying and selling recreationally caught fish, failing to land fish (documenting the fish once it reaches land), facilitating the operation of an unlicensed fish business and falsifying landing documents to hide their poaching crimes." I love Haworth fish! There's simply not fresher fish around less you catch it yourself. I started buying Jaworth during The dreaded COVID and have not stopped. I like going to local stores for everything from daily to specialty. I'll review my favorite Latino market soon. But for fish, this is hands down my favorite. The best part well second best part aside from how freshly caught it is, they deliver! Wait, what and I'm in El Cajon. The delivery fee is very reasonable and if you order enough they'll deliver for free. This week it was Opah, Mahi-Mahi, and dry scallops. ( I'm surprising my lovely on Valentine's with these. They'll go great with my Schramsberg. Oh, the fish is rough cut, so if you've never filed a fish, don't sweat it. there are a ton of videos on YouTube. And whether shipping is included or not, I like to support these folks, so leave a couple of extra bucks. read more

Why didn't I come sooner!? Bought a 1.4lb ahi tuni loin fresh off the dock, I should've bought more! This is fresh, tender, buttery, sensational sashimi grade stuff! I made my not famous but delicious Ahi Poke, YUM! Chun P's Ahi Poke: 1 pound Ahi tuna(or your fav fish) 1.5 tbsp soy sauce 1 tbsp sesame oil 1/2 cup green onion 1/8 cup yellow onion 1 tbsp sesame seeds 1/2 tbsp sea salt Optional: sprinkle of red chili flakes Chop it up all up, mix it all up, refrigerate it 20min-2 hours, and then eat! Ok lovers of fish... if you want to get your hands on some fresh, tasty ones, head on over to see Haworth Fish. They currently have pick up available at the Tuna Harbor Dockside Market. But be sure to check out their Facebook or Instagram to see exactly where they are that day. Plus they also deliver. And wow, just wow! Very impressed with the quality of fish you get. They look great and don't have that overly fishy smell which let's you know that you're getting a good quality piece of fish! There were four main fish to choose from the day we went. We were able to get the big eye tuna, whitefish and albacore. Portions are already sized to 1 lb each and come with the skin on in a zip lock bag. 1 lb costs $10. You can walk on over to the dock where they literally give the fish to you. Just follow the signs. Credit cards are also accepted and social distancing is still observed in line. If you're in San Diego, you have to stop by and get yourself some of the freshest fish ever. They usually will post times and where they are on the their website/ig. Recently got some bluefin tuna and also got to try their mahi mahi for the first time. Their tuna is always good but trying the mahi mahi blew me away. Seared it on the pan and the meat was so juicy. Their tuna is great for sashimi because it's so fresh. It's never a disappointment getting fish from them. The workers always friendly also! read more

Sometimes it takes a crazy-ass pandemic to surface a business that you probably would have never known existed. This is the case for Haworth Fish, my friends. Let me tell you, the three pounds of ahi that Haworth sold me were absolutely insanely delicious. A big ol' fat loin ahi was picked up fresh from the dock, never frozen, thrown in a bag of ice, taken home, butchered, seared, sliced up, and served with a side of rice, avocado, mango and a homemade ponzu. Is that how it's supposed to be served? I don't know, but I did and it was truly delicious. So, how much is three pounds of the freshest ahi that I've ever tried? $75 would be a safe guess but it would be a losing answer. The correct answer was $30 cash and worth every damn penny. This review is for their online order and delivery. I have been ordering from them since they started online order and delivery over a year ago. I order average once or twice a month and about $80-$100 per order. I left the driver tips for every delivery. This is my experience: 1. I weighted the fish I received every time. 3 out of 4 times they weight less than what I ordered. 2. The fish are usually fresh. 1 out of 4 times I received fish that are not fresh enough for poke or sashimi. 3. 3 out of 4 times they gave me all tail cuts (Ahi, Bluefin, Yellowtail, Opah). It seems that they gave me the cuts that they cannot sell to shops and restaurants and the cuts that no one would buy at the dock. This is the killer for me to receive scraps that I would never pick at the store. I'd never buy those tail cuts even if they are cheap. 4. Delivery has been great. I put a cooler with ice at the front door when I'm at work and the delivery person would put the fish in when they show up. I don't need to be home to wait for the fish. Drivers also text me before they deliver. I always receive the correct items. read more

Can't say enough about the quality of the fish sold from this company. As a deep sea fisherman myself I'm pretty pickey when it comes to fish. Picked up 50# of Albacore filets for canning last week and I can honestly say it doesn't get any fresher than what they sell. Good quality sea food at reasonable prices. read more

About a month ago I had delivered (with a neighbor) a couple pounds of blue fin tuna. It didn't look at all right and when an attempt at slicing for poke ended in a weird squishy failure I tried grilling it. The result was a mushy waste of over $30. My opinion was that it had been refrozen and thawed too many times. Strike one. Last weekend we received two pounds of Mong Chong fillet....4 ounces light! Strike two. And the "fillet" I cooked was completely riddled with bones. Take a look at the photo. Yes, those are bones! Shame on you, Haworth! Strike three. The poor rating is for the having the fish delivered. If you go down and get the fish directly from them, you can most likely get a good product and honest weighing. read more

This is a review of their delivery service, which is awesome. You get fish that is incredibly fresh at really great prices. It's better and cheaper than what you can get at the supermarket, and if you order at least $100 worth (which is easy to do if you just freeze whatever you aren't going to eat immediately), they deliver for free. We got 10lbs of fresh ahi, which was awesome and didn't last long in our household. So a week later we went to harbor and picked up another 10lbs!! I just received my first (and last) delivery of fresh halibut from this company. One 'approximately 1 lb' portion weighed 15.8 oz, one weighed 13.7, and the third weighed 10.9. An average of 16% short on the three. Add in delivery charge and a $5 driver tip, results in a total ripoff. Go to Point Loma Seafoods for accurately weighed, excellent quality fresh fish. After writing an irate email and a bad review, I very quickly heard from Nicholas and got a refund appropriate to the shortage. So went from a 1 star to a 4. Maybe i will order again- fish looks great- but I'll sure be ready at the time of delivery with my handy dandy scale. read more

The only way you'll get fresher fish is to catch it yourself. The price of fish is excellent and the fish itself is absolutely delicious. We chose delivery which was a tad steep for the small amount of fish we ordered at $10 flat fee but also worth it. I wouldn't hesitate to go to the docks either. read more
