I brought my Tesla in for some love and kindness as my apartment complex did some construction without putting up any notification and dropped concrete--YES, concrete, paint and chemicals all over the back of my new car. I'll leave that for another review, but anyway, I'm so happy I found Haws. From the first phone call to Haws, the lady that answers the calls was so helpful, kind and sweet. I was already sold just from talking to her, as I was in the middle of 4 estimates from different shops that worked on Tesla. Took my Model S in for some fender damage and was very apprehensive initially because this was my first collision damage ever. Carlos at Hawes was amazing from the get to. Communication throughout the process was fantastic, he took care of insurance supplemental processes and arguments with the provider to great effect and most importantly - did a fantastic job with the car! UPDATE: Not sure what happened with Haws, but they've lost a loyal customer for life. I have taken multiple vehicles for repair over the years which had led me to believe I might be considered a valuable customer.....I was wrong. My 1993 Rx7 was rubbed up against in a parking lot. I quickly made an appt with Haws to get an estimate on repair. Nate was my estimator And assessed the damage. He did mention to me casually that they generally don't work on cars built before 2000, which surprised me a little as they've worked on the car a couple of previous times in the past 6 years, once fairly recently. I didn't think too much of it as the damage seemed fairly superficial (no replacement of body panels) and I thought as a local loyal customer I'd get my estimate and be on my way. Nate informed me he would review with his manager and send me an estimate via email. 20 minutes later I received a plainly worded message stating ..."For us there are to many variables that could go wrong and bring the repairs to a halt.". No real detail but basically "see you later, dude". I would have thought they might have had a bit more empathy maybe explain in more detail what about the damage was risky to fix and/or maybe suggest another shop which may be better equipped to repair the damage, but nope...when I asked for another referral Nate responded "Sorry we could not accommodate you this time Mr. Lara. Unfortunately we do not have any recommendations on shops who would be able to take your vehicle". Way to go Nate! Never again Haws. Came in for work due to rear ending accident. These slimeballs only mentioned a broken exhaust manifold, nothing about the broken catalytic converter, and proceeded to do a welding hack job on the converter to "fix" it. I took it to a dealership today and found out it's been leaking exhaust this entire time, due to them doing a really poor job at welding the catalytic converter that (according to the dealership) should be REPLACED not fixed! Don't waste your time with these slimeballs that like to cut corners. read more

We had just bought a new car, when disaster struck. Not even a week after taking delivery of the vehicle, we found spots on the car that had eaten through the paint over much of the drivers side. The neighbors pipe had broken and gotten something corrosive on our brand new Subaru. We were of course distraught, and began researching how we could fix the problem. We went to numerous body shops, each one making us even more nervous about the expense of the repair and whether our car would ever look factory-new again. A friend recommended Haws Plaza Auto in Lafayette. It was the final body shop we visited because it was far from our home in San Francisco. The extra distance proved to be worth it. From the moment we pulled up we could tell that Haws was different form some of the, shall we say, less reputable-looking body shops we had been to in the city. We were greeted by Mike, the owner. He and his head service tech looked over our car and made an assessment of the damage. They both walked us through what they were seeing, the process they would have to take to fix it, and throughout the explanation displayed knowledge and confidence that made us feel dramatically better than we had an hour earlier. At this point we were already decide that this was the repair shop that we wanted to go with. Mike helped us talk through our insurance options, and gave us suggestions for how to go about the unfamiliar process. Unfortunately, it was still a pretty large job that would require a total repaint of essentially half the cars panels. Nervously, we dropped off our car, wondering to ourselves if we'd always be able to tell that something had happened to the paint. A week later, we came to pick up the car, and all of our fears melted away as the car pulled up looking no different from the day we received it from the dealer. It may have even looked nicer as Haws was kind enough to wax the entire car. Mike again walked us through the work they had done, including some additional fixes that were needed that we hadn't even noticed ourselves. He stressed that if we were to find anything wrong, including any damage we might've missed, to bring it back and they'd take care of it. The paint job also has a lifetime warranty (whilst we own the car). Haws turned what could've been a nightmare situation into one of relief -- not just because the car is repaired now, but because we know if anything happens in the future, we know where to go to get the car looking as new. read more
