My husband and I came here for dinner while we were in town for a soccer tournament. It was convenient because it was right in our hotel lobby. We made a reservation for 8:30. We were greeted right away when we got there and sat. Our server greeted us right and offered us water and took our drink order. They brought us a basket of bread right away. My husband ordered the chicken with mushrooms and mashed potatoes and I ordered the 8 oz filet cooked medium rare done Oscar style which was crab, a hollandaise type sauce and asparagus spears . We also ordered the brussel sprouts and loaded potato to share. My steak came out perfect!! It was tender and medium rare. The crab and sauce that came on it was so flavorful and delicious. My husband's chicken came out hot and fresh and cooked perfectly. The brussel sprouts were fresh and grilled so they were a little crispy on the outside which was perfect! For dessert we ordered the coconut pie. That was also flavorful. Came out as a piece of banana pie with little dollops of coconut creamy goodness on top. Our server Elkin was great and the other people that helped us out were super friendly and helpful too. We had a nice quiet meal. We didn't have kids with but it seemed like it is kid and family friendly as there were a couple of other groups in there that did have kids with them. We would recommend this place. I came here yesterday, Saturday, for happy hour with two of my best friends to celebrate a fun bday happy hour for me. We sat at the bar and were served by Byrd and Desiree, both of whom are AMAZING bartenders and everything overall. Desiree made most of our drinks- by far, the BEST, bartender and drinks we have EVER had!! One of my besties and I love Sidecars, and even though it's not on the menu, she made it AMAZINGLY, even better than the best typical Sidecar ever! She did a sugar and spice rim, it definitely changed the drink for the better and made it unique. Even the twirled orange peel was the best orange peel twist I've had! Haha Desiree for sure knows her stuff front to back upside down and all around when it comes to drinks!!! Byrd was very attentive as well and quick to serve us and make sure we were taken care of. I had to check out the new daily happy hour from 4-7. I don't recall their hh ever being until 7. The bar was almost full and there were a few tables occupied near the bar. The menu contains a nice variety of specialty cocktails for half price and and appetizers such as meatball sliders, charcuterie and tuna tacos. I was considering the hh burger, but the $16 price seems too much for hh. The $7 meatball sliders were very good! I also had a glass of white sangria, which was very tasty and a good hh price for $7. I went with the filet mignon cooked medium rare, and it was executed perfectly--tender, juicy, and full of flavor. Byrd was our server and was amazing and Desiree behind the bar makes incredible cocktails. Shrimp cocktail was so good I had to come back the next day just for it. Last day in Vegas...ready to be home. After gala last night, I slept in. Maybe a tiny bit excessive partying last night (no...not possible). Now time for a good breakfast before I head off into the Vegas sunset. I decided on Hawthorne Grille and Avacado toast minus the radishes and sunny side eggs. Many people have convicted me that sunny side eggs were the way to go. Raw running eggs...how about no! I put them in the same category as oysters on the half shell. While I've tried both because I think it's important to expand your culinary experiences, not a fan of either. My server, Ashley, quickly took my order. Ashley was attentive and focused on customer service. Hawthorne is nestled in tropical paradise on the JW Marriott property. As I look out my window, I see a sea of greenery - tall inviting palm trees, short stubby trees that fan out or those overgrown bushes? In either case, they are absolutely beautiful. Water slowly caress the rocks and slowly fall into the pond. There's nothing like the waterfall sound...captivating and intoxicating. Paradise at breakfast...ambience and service was 5/5. Now for my avacado toast, it was delicious. The multigrain bread was nicely toasted. An improvement would be less egg and more avocado, afterall it is called avocado toast for a reason. Ashley was great. We came for breakfast which is 7-11am. I had Your Way breakfast that was $23 and husband had All-American for $26. He was able to substitute the bacon (which he cannot have due to health issues) for turkey bacon. We both had over easy. The hash brown is good. It's like a scoop of it rather than flat. Still crisp enough. This is our second time here and we will be back since we are regulars at this hotel. read more

Its patio dining season and that means a visit to Hawthorn Grill for Happy Hour. The patio has the best ambiance with comfortable seating, shade and flowing water from the stream. The background music is conversation friendly. Upon being seated we received a bowl of complementary popcorn. We ordered the charcuterie board and the meatball sliders (2 to an order). Both items are large enough for two people. Service from Ashley was timely and food delivery quick. The prices are reasonable considering their located in a resort/hotel. Came here after being at the rampart casino and I was pleasantly surprised with how good it was compared to what the reviews say. The atmosphere is fine dining but also with a casual atmosphere. We went for happy hour at the bar and it was nice setting with friendly bar staff. We got the cocktails and they were quite nice. The food here was also pretty good too. I would say not for happy hour, the price is a little high for what you get in comparison. Also, the vegetarian entree does need some work as it's a pretty small portion. Overall, I would say this is a good spot if you are at JW Marriott or Rampart Casino. read more

Went to Hawthorn on a Friday night and had an incredible experience. We had several appetizers, to include the grilled octopus and the ribeye cap tartare. I had never eaten tartare before and was excited to try it. Needless to say I was not let down, it was fantastic! I ordered a NY strip for my entree with the exotic mushrooms and they were great. The steak was cooked perfectly and had great flavor. Also, I saw the chef come out and carve a steak at a table next to us which I thought was really nice to thought was really cool is the chef came out and carved the steak at a nearby table. I frequent this restaurant with my mom for happy hour and it has been a few years now. Every time it is just to die for. My mom and I on our most recent visit decided on some HH house Cabernet, a wedge salad, roasted Brussel sprouts and of course cannot come here without getting their filet Mignon. Went for my wife's birthday. Hard to get a reservation. We were last set through at 8 pm which might explain a sense of being rushed by the server. He was nice but we felt that he wanted just to get us finished and get out of there, which was really disappointing. The food was very good (4 to 5 star) but service was disappointing (3 star). In a more relaxed setting, and had we managed an earlier reservation, I'm sure it would've been great. The Hawthorn grill is more pricey, but really the only nice restaurant at the Marriott (our stay there was wonderful, in close proximity to Red Rock Canyon - highly recommended). This is the WORST restaurant I have ever visited. Steak cuts are probably the cheapest as you are basically eating rubber. I had dinner there and ordered some meals to go. The chicken was overcooked and totally inedible. It is supposed to be half a chicken...it was missing a leg and a wing. The breast and thigh were ridiculously small and thin, that's exactly why they were too dry/overcooked. When I brought this to the attention of the manager, he said he will reimburse me for that meal. He didn't do this, when I called and spoke to another manager he was rude. They don't take responsibility for their mistakes and they don't respect their customers. It's a horrible place. read more

Then got approach by a server got our drinks taken, I specifically ordered non-alcoholic (mock tail) drink which I expressed that to our server as the drink came did a sip on it and the vodka was so strong and I start itching (I'm allergic to it) so I called the server and asked this drink has alcohol and he apologies and said he mixed my drinks with my friend. Good thing I always bring Benadryl. Anyways... We started with some bread and butter the bread was warm and soft which was yummy. Then our salad came which was drizzled with some vinaigrette was also good not too drenched on the dressing and the veggies were fresh. Then our main course came I ordered the salmon; the salmon was well cooked and well seasoned which had some asparagus potato and Cherry tomatoes and some light sauce. Everything went well together. As per the side we had some big potato wedges with some Parmesan on them. And some grilled baby sprouts. Which all the side was good. Then I had a cappuccino with some cheesecake, coffee was good and perfect with the cheesecake! Everything was a great experience and service! Food was well cooked and seasoned, the place was pretty nice, server was nice and even with the alcohol mistake I enjoyed the food and the company we had.
