We were very interested in purchasing a truck, as we are moving to Georgia and needed something capable of towing a trailer. When we asked to test drive the vehicle, we were told we could not test drive unless we agreed to buy a truck that same day. This immediately raised red flags for us, as test driving is a basic and reasonable part of making a major purchase. We chose to walk away due to this high-pressure sales tactic. I am doing a follow-up to my original review of Hayes Auto Sales, Roseville, CA. Towards the end of February. I reached out to Michael Hartman who was the salesman that sold me the 2006 Toyota Highlander telling him about the ongoing problems I had with the vehicle. He said that any after sale concerns should be brought to the attention of Murray Shane his manager. I left a detailed message by phone for Murray to get back with me. It has been over 2 weeks now, and not a word from Murray. The present problem with the Highlander is that the rear windshield wiper does not work electrically, most likely caused by a rear collision that the Hayes Auto Sales "Experian AutoCheck Report" did not show, but the CARFAX report I obtained, clearly showed that a rear collision was reported on 8-16-2010. Incidentally, when I talked to Michael Hartman at the end of February about the issues with the Highlander, he told me that the 2007 Scion tC that I traded in had just sold. That is something, that the Scion tC coupe I traded in that Hayes Auto Sales manager Murray Shane called a rusty car owned by a tuner kid, but "cleaned up really well", sold in less than a month...so much for Shane's opinion (or con job). Hayes Classics is another business in Roseville CA owned by John Hayes, that sells high end classic and collector vehicles. His mantra is that he has classic cars to sell "cuz they are cool". Apparently Murray Shane is also the sales manager for the high, (overly priced in some instances) classic cars there. What I see is, the owner John Hayes selling his mostly defective cars through Hayes Auto Sales for "chump change" to the unsuspecting, to help buy his high end classic cars (toys) to sell to the wealthy person who does not know what to do with their money. He, John Hayes, and Murray Shane take advantage of older people and the unknowing, to exercise their grifting practices, selling faulty vehicles as good used vehicles. I will reiterate, don't go near these con artists, they will steal you blind, and just shrug their shoulders afterward. I don't usually leave reviews unless something like actually damatic happens, but my recent experience at Hayes Auto Sales in Roseville deserves to be shared as a warning. I came here after calling ahead about a vehicle they'd just gotten in. The first salesperson I met was fantastic. Friendly, welcoming, and more than happy to let me check out the car before it officially hit the lot even though he was clearly super busy. I told him I was looking to buy in cash, loved the car, and planned to come back for a test drive. I left excited and ready to make it happen. On my return visit, the experience couldn't have been more different. I was met with complete indifference from the person working the floor, who barely acknowledged me while making his lunch. I'd been walking around alone in the office for like 10 minutes before he came out. Then I was introduced to "Brian," who greeted me by standing uncomfortably close, not even giving me a chance to stand up out of my chair, asking what I needed, and, before even pulling the car out, told me to "check to see if you can afford it first." Weirdly, he even positioned himself in between me and the door out to where A) I knew the car was and B) where I'd already walked out and seen it. Like I'd somehow run off with it? No keys. Blocked in. Just nope, not even allowed out there. Which is wild work considering I'd just watch Brian try and fail to close a customer on a pickup... he was super personable to that guy, who didn't buy anything. So, let's pause there and recap, I had already made it clear I was prepared to pay in full, in cash. I'd already seen, sat in, started up, photographed, tire kicked, and vibe checked. Said I'd be in to drive the car, and hopefully off into the sunset, and I *made good on that*. Being spoken to like that was not only disrespectful, it was presumptive and unnecessary. Whether it was because I'm a woman, because I'm black, or because I'm a black woman in Roseville, Ca - I walked out feeling belittled and humiliated. The car is tagged at like 8-9k. The assumption was that I couldn't even *finance* that much, meanwhile I was ready to drop a cashiers check on the desk and skedaddle so Brian could continue trying and failing to move units... on a Saturday... in August... on a potlot. By the time they scrambled and could suddenly pull the car around (I guess it wasn't that inconvenient after all, Brian!) I was already in my own vehicle, in tears, wondering how such a stark difference in treatment could happen between two visits to the same dealership. At least the orginal guy I'd worked with apologized and was understanding of why I just walked out. Tl;dr Totally 100% ready to pay in cash that day for a car I'd already seen, asked if I could even afford it before they'd let me look at it. Hayes sold me a vehicle that required over $7,000+ in repairs. Please have a mechanic inspect the vehicle fully before considering purchasing vehicles here! They will persuade you their mechanic already "took a good look at it". However, the 'mechanic' missed the following: 1. Broken Motor blower 2. Broken AC/heater control module 3. Broken camshaft cover 4. Broken alternator pulley 5. Broken rear brake light 6. Not one, but 2 broken CV boots Photos are attached for proof and reference. Well I did my part. Paid for the car in full. Online and out of state from Ohio. Car was sent to me, I was assured that the title was on the way from their GM Murray. It was all a pack of lies. 3 times... "Oh, it will be overnight shipped" Then two more lies, " I will have my DMV lady expedite shipping. One month after purchase I still do not have my title. Murray was fully aware that I am disabled due to Stage 4 Cancer treatments and Numerous Surgeries! The only thing I can do is Door Dash and Uber. I am now stuck with a car that has 2023 expired California plates in my driveway, which I can't drive, because I need the title to get temp tags or plates per Ohio law. He's a real piece of work. A warning for future buyers at Hayes Auto - I purchased a 2005 Ford150 from Hayes around 6 months ago. 2 weeks ago, while driving on the highway, the drive line literally collapsed, and was on fire. It's expected to have some maintenance work to do, even right away when you buy a used vehicle. However, Safety checks were obviously not completed. This truck was not safe to drive and it should not have been sold. I am lucky that a collision wasn't caused, and no one was injured. I had the truck towed to my local mechanic and it was discovered this catastrophic failure was due to mechanic negligence. This was the first time a mechanic looks at the truck since I purchased it. Hayes Auto sold me an unsafe truck due to their negligence, and it cost me $3000 to repair. Here are some details in regards to Hayes Auto mechanic's negligence: When swapping over rear brake parts, it appeared parking brakes shoes, located behind rear rotors had been replaced. They looked newer than the rear brake pads and rotors. We know that there was no gear oil in rear differential housing, which mostly caused all damage. The Pinion gear broke and was wedged in the differential case, rear driveline damaged from pinion breaking, and the rear end case destroyed. read more

I checked their inventory online to see if they had a specific vehicle I was looking for, and they did. I drove by yesterday after they closed to scope it out. Glad they keep their website updated! Then today I went in after work and Curt greeted me warmly and offered to help me look at the vehicle. On the lot he gave me some space to inspect it but was there to answer any questions. It was a good balance of service and sales. I never felt any pressure. After I looked it over he just asked what I'd like to do about the vehicle. No push, just open-ended question. I appreciated that. Back inside Curt showed me the inspection report and went over everything technical. I took it for a test drive and loved it. Well, I decided to trade in my vehicle and purchase the one Curt showed me. He helped me secure a good trade in offer close to Blue Book value. I told him I had to be out of there by a certain time and he helped speed things up for me. Then Jeff helped me with the finance part. He recommended the beat warranty to cover special features on the new vehicle and he was very transparent about what I was getting. He was familiar with my lender and we had all the paperwork done in about 30 minutes. Great service on Jeff's part too. Just enough conversation to keep things light. So I took it to a shop, got the code read. This great running car had plenty wrong with it. I called them, they told me I could exchange the car. 1st. Are you F'n kidding me?! I drove this far for the car, and purchased it. I'm not exchanging it. Next option. I have THEM purchase the part, and WE fix it on the side of the damn road. Because I'm not letting their back door mechanic touch this car anymore. -the gist of things- the engine was so dirty all the screens needed to be clean (vtec) The car didn't go over 2500 rpm (manual car) It needed several motor mounts since replacement Suspension eventually needs to get replaced To get rid of the engine slime I needed to put in a new oil pan. I needs oil seals and then some. I contacted them within a month after I had the car working properly. Asking if they'd refund the uhaul that was needed to get the damn thing home, the parts purchased, and my time for labor actually put into the car along with extensive research that was needed to get this car running. Not even a response. You guys are scum, and you know it. Literally knew I was a single mom, trying to get a specific car, made a damn trip of it. That's how y'all treat people? I hope you guys get your karma. I'm sure this place was once a good place to get cars. Before the entitled people were handed it. Shame on y'all for all the people you screw over. I told y'all I'd hold my review if you tried making this somewhat right. Thanks for nothing. -oh wait. Bought a Ford F-350 a month and a half ago. Turns out it has cracked heads. Found fuel in the radiator. When the shop pulled the heads you can see the head gasket sealer they dumped in to make the truck run. See the picture The shop says I'm lucky I made it home. Sacramento to southern Ca. So I call Hayes auto sales and ask to talk to manager or owner and get the run around for last 4 hours. I'm not sure if Murray Shane is the general manager or owner because his staff has referred to him as both. But I can tell you he doesn't return calls. Pretty shady business practices. Wish I would have looked at all the bad reviews on Yelp prior to buying here. I would have taken my business else where. Hope no one else gets ripped off by this place. I did reach out to u Murray. You told me no warranty and tough $&!t. You knew you were selling me a lemon. You knew the heads were bad and that's why it smelled like diesel in the engine compartment.
