My wife Teresa and I had been searching nationwide for the exact color and interior configuration we wanted, and Hayes had it. On Sunday, July 5, 2026, I found the truck. We drove up from Monterey on Monday, July 6, 2026, and while the truck wasn't quite ready when we arrived, the team handled everything with complete professionalism and transparency. General Sales Manager Murray Shane, along with salesmen Clint and Ronnie, were outstanding. They were upfront about the minor issues that needed to be addressed and assured us that the owner (John) wanted the truck sold correctly without any problems. True to their word, they gave us first refusal at the quoted price. On the following Friday, July 10, 2026, they called to let us know the truck was ready -- with a complete set of new tires installed and the issue fully resolved. The finance team was equally impressive. Jeff handled the initial paperwork on our first visit, and Jori was there to finish the paperwork. Jori and Murray stayed late (they kept the dealership open an extra hour) when we drove back up from Monterey to finalize everything. Their flexibility and dedication went above and beyond what we expected. What made this visit even more special is that I actually knew Murray Shane from 32 years ago -- we had worked together briefly back then. I had no idea he was at Hayes when I first walked in, so it was a wonderful surprise to reconnect after all that time. It really is a small world, and it was great catching up with someone from so long ago. Murray was incredibly accommodating and made the whole process feel personal and trustworthy. Disappointing experience at Hayes Auto Sales in Roseville.Our salesman, Ronnie, was friendly, but unfortunately he was not very knowledgeable about the vehicles and it felt like the main priority was making the sale rather than making sure we were taken care of. During our test drive of an Acura, a sensor warning came on. Ronnie noticed it, tried looking into it, but couldn't figure out the issue. I assumed it would be fixed before we purchased the vehicle, but that was not the case. After completing the paperwork, the warning was still there. We were told cleaning the sensor should fix it, but when we got home we discovered the sensor was actually missing. We had to fight with the owner, John Hayes, to replace a part that should have never been missing when the vehicle was sold to us. Buying a car is a major purchase, and customers deserve honesty, attention to detail, and a safe, reliable vehicle. Make sure you thoroughly inspect anything you buy here before leaving the lot. There are better deals and better customer service experiences elsewhere. I don't usually leave reviews unless something like actually damatic happens, but my recent experience at Hayes Auto Sales in Roseville deserves to be shared as a warning. I came here after calling ahead about a vehicle they'd just gotten in. The first salesperson I met was fantastic. Friendly, welcoming, and more than happy to let me check out the car before it officially hit the lot even though he was clearly super busy. I told him I was looking to buy in cash, loved the car, and planned to come back for a test drive. I left excited and ready to make it happen. On my return visit, the experience couldn't have been more different. I was met with complete indifference from the person working the floor, who barely acknowledged me while making his lunch. I'd been walking around alone in the office for like 10 minutes before he came out. Then I was introduced to "Brian," who greeted me by standing uncomfortably close, not even giving me a chance to stand up out of my chair, asking what I needed, and, before even pulling the car out, told me to "check to see if you can afford it first." Weirdly, he even positioned himself in between me and the door out to where A) I knew the car was and B) where I'd already walked out and seen it. Like I'd somehow run off with it? No keys. Blocked in. Just nope, not even allowed out there. Which is wild work considering I'd just watch Brian try and fail to close a customer on a pickup... he was super personable to that guy, who didn't buy anything. So, let's pause there and recap, I had already made it clear I was prepared to pay in full, in cash. I'd already seen, sat in, started up, photographed, tire kicked, and vibe checked. Said I'd be in to drive the car, and hopefully off into the sunset, and I *made good on that*. Being spoken to like that was not only disrespectful, it was presumptive and unnecessary. Whether it was because I'm a woman, because I'm black, or because I'm a black woman in Roseville, Ca - I walked out feeling belittled and humiliated. The car is tagged at like 8-9k. The assumption was that I couldn't even *finance* that much, meanwhile I was ready to drop a cashiers check on the desk and skedaddle so Brian could continue trying and failing to move units... on a Saturday... in August... on a potlot. By the time they scrambled and could suddenly pull the car around (I guess it wasn't that inconvenient after all, Brian!) I was already in my own vehicle, in tears, wondering how such a stark difference in treatment could happen between two visits to the same dealership. At least the orginal guy I'd worked with apologized and was understanding of why I just walked out. Tl;dr Totally 100% ready to pay in cash that day for a car I'd already seen, asked if I could even afford it before they'd let me look at it. My wife and I bought a 2006 Toyota Highlander on 1-28-2026 to replace our 2005 Toyota Camry that was rear-ended at a stoplight. We drove our 2007 Scion tC Spec to use as a potential trade-in, to Hayes Auto Sales, Roseville, CA. We met a salesman there who was an older man, Michael, who showed us a 2006 Toyota Highlander. We took it for a ride, and it seemed OK, a little low on gas, so Michael put some gas in it. We went over some of the figures in the office, using my 2007 Scion tC as a trade-in. Michael called his manager Murray Shane over to look at, and evaluate my car. My Scion tC was in good condition. The manager, after driving my car, told me that it had rust damage, and that one of the front fenders had been replaced. I told him that I have the CARFAX report, that I was the second owner, and it was a very low mileage car, with NO accidents. I left the CARFAX report in the glove box with the car. My wife and I are both seniors in our seventies, and the Scion tC is more suited to a younger buyer who can appreciate it's handling qualities, sporty ride, and low mileage. Murray talked to the owner, and named a price, of which we negotiated and came to a figure. We agreed to trade in the Scion tC, on the Highlander. During the signing of papers, the Experian AutoCheck Report showed that the 2006 Toyota Highlander was never in an accident, and that it was a one owner vehicle. We left the dealership confident that we had bought a vehicle more suited to us. Just out of curiosity, I ran a CARFAX report on the 2006 Toyota Highlander on 1-30-2026 , and found out that it had accident damage to the rear reported on 8-16-2010. This is in contrast to the Experian AutoCheck Report taken on 1-28-2026 at the dealership at the time of sale, stating NO damage reported. Last week my wife took the Highlander out to pick up one of the granddaughters from school, and upon arrival back home said that the right windshield wiper was not working well. During that same trip, the check engine light also came on. It cost us $344 from a mobile mechanic to have the charcoal canister purge valve replaced to clear the code for the check engine light. The windshield wipers were all bad, and half of the rubber was missing, just short of scratching the windshield. We had the wipers all replaced, except for the rear wiper, which is on special order. While checking the tire pressure cold, only 20 psi was in all of the tires, down 10 psi from what is recommended. I noticed that they had taken no time at all cleaning up the 2007 Scion tC, that we traded in to be pristine looking for resale with a price tag on it, the same as what they asked for the Highlander I just bought. Manager Murray Shane really tried to convince me that my 2007 Scion tC was a piece of junk, put together by some tuner kid. I left the original window sticker with the owner's manual, showing just the way the car came from the factory. It was a one owner car, bought by an older Japanese man. I called Michael back, the salesman who sold me the car, and he said my 2007 Scion tC "Spec" model "cleaned up" really well. It is too bad that the vehicle they sold me wasn't in as good a shape as my Scion tC. Checking over the transfer of title papers, it showed that I paid double for registration fees 2025-2026 and 2026-2027, something car dealer's in California can do at their discretion, another stick it to the customer practice. In closing, car dealers are supposed to take care of safety items, like windshield wiper blade condition, correct tire pressure, and being honest about any prior vehicle accidents. I would not recommend Hayes Auto Sales, Roseville, CA to anyone wanting a decent car for a fair price. They are a dishonest dealership that buffs vehicles out, overprices, and then flips them. Hayes sold me a vehicle that required over $7,000+ in repairs. Please have a mechanic inspect the vehicle fully before considering purchasing vehicles here! They will persuade you their mechanic already "took a good look at it". However, the 'mechanic' missed the following: 1. Broken Motor blower 2. Broken AC/heater control module 3. Broken camshaft cover 4. Broken alternator pulley 5. Broken rear brake light 6. Not one, but 2 broken CV boots Photos are attached for proof and reference. Well I did my part. Paid for the car in full. Online and out of state from Ohio. Car was sent to me, I was assured that the title was on the way from their GM Murray. It was all a pack of lies. 3 times... "Oh, it will be overnight shipped" Then two more lies, " I will have my DMV lady expedite shipping. One month after purchase I still do not have my title. Murray was fully aware that I am disabled due to Stage 4 Cancer treatments and Numerous Surgeries! The only thing I can do is Door Dash and Uber. I am now stuck with a car that has 2023 expired California plates in my driveway, which I can't drive, because I need the title to get temp tags or plates per Ohio law. He's a real piece of work. A warning for future buyers at Hayes Auto - I purchased a 2005 Ford150 from Hayes around 6 months ago. 2 weeks ago, while driving on the highway, the drive line literally collapsed, and was on fire. It's expected to have some maintenance work to do, even right away when you buy a used vehicle. However, Safety checks were obviously not completed. This truck was not safe to drive and it should not have been sold. I am lucky that a collision wasn't caused, and no one was injured. I had the truck towed to my local mechanic and it was discovered this catastrophic failure was due to mechanic negligence. This was the first time a mechanic looks at the truck since I purchased it. Hayes Auto sold me an unsafe truck due to their negligence, and it cost me $3000 to repair. Here are some details in regards to Hayes Auto mechanic's negligence: When swapping over rear brake parts, it appeared parking brakes shoes, located behind rear rotors had been replaced. They looked newer than the rear brake pads and rotors. We know that there was no gear oil in rear differential housing, which mostly caused all damage. The Pinion gear broke and was wedged in the differential case, rear driveline damaged from pinion breaking, and the rear end case destroyed. read more

I checked their inventory online to see if they had a specific vehicle I was looking for, and they did. I drove by yesterday after they closed to scope it out. Glad they keep their website updated! Then today I went in after work and Curt greeted me warmly and offered to help me look at the vehicle. On the lot he gave me some space to inspect it but was there to answer any questions. It was a good balance of service and sales. I never felt any pressure. After I looked it over he just asked what I'd like to do about the vehicle. No push, just open-ended question. I appreciated that. Back inside Curt showed me the inspection report and went over everything technical. I took it for a test drive and loved it. Well, I decided to trade in my vehicle and purchase the one Curt showed me. He helped me secure a good trade in offer close to Blue Book value. I told him I had to be out of there by a certain time and he helped speed things up for me. Then Jeff helped me with the finance part. He recommended the beat warranty to cover special features on the new vehicle and he was very transparent about what I was getting. He was familiar with my lender and we had all the paperwork done in about 30 minutes. Great service on Jeff's part too. Just enough conversation to keep things light. My mom purchased a 2011 Toyota Camry here last weekend. I wanted her to check out this lot because I see a lot of cars around the area with the Hayes license plate frame. That's typically a good sign as the cars are still running and operating. Kurt met us on the lot and was a joy to talk to. My mom originally was veering towards a Nissan Altima as it was more in her price range but I convinced her to look at the Camry. The Camry was originally out of what she wanted to spend. Kurt didn't pressure her at all and reminded her that the Camry was out of her range. I appreciated that. He never tried to sell her on anything she didn't want or was more expensive. The Camry she purchased was very clean and well cared for. The mileage was great for it being a 2011 and it really stood out. She paid for it outright and the process was smooth and easy. The truth about Hayes autos They want your money plan and simple. So be very wary. If you're not a mechanic DONT BUY A CAR HERE. Unless you know how to physically work on cars yourself you're screwing yourself nicely by comings to this "fine" establishment. Whom. So listen to the people who dealt with their sh** first hand. I drove over 800 Mi round trip for a specific car. Just like others. THE MOMENT I WAS ON THE FREEWAY THE ENGINE LIGHT WENT ON. Now yes. Driving this far for a car to begin with is ridiculous. But I was ASSURED multiple times that this car would make it allllll the way to my destination. HAH!!! So I took it to a shop, got the code read. This great running car had plenty wrong with it. I called them, they told me I could exchange the car. 1st. Are you F'n kidding me?! I drove this far for the car, and purchased it. I'm not exchanging it. Next option. I have THEM purchase the part, and WE fix it on the side of the damn road. Because I'm not letting their back door mechanic touch this car anymore. -the gist of things- the engine was so dirty all the screens needed to be clean (vtec) The car didn't go over 2500 rpm (manual car) It needed several motor mounts since replacement Suspension eventually needs to get replaced To get rid of the engine slime I needed to put in a new oil pan. I needs oil seals and then some. I contacted them within a month after I had the car working properly. Asking if they'd refund the uhaul that was needed to get the damn thing home, the parts purchased, and my time for labor actually put into the car along with extensive research that was needed to get this car running. Not even a response. You guys are scum, and you know it. Literally knew I was a single mom, trying to get a specific car, made a damn trip of it. That's how y'all treat people? I hope you guys get your karma. I'm sure this place was once a good place to get cars. Before the entitled people were handed it. Shame on y'all for all the people you screw over. I told y'all I'd hold my review if you tried making this somewhat right. Thanks for nothing. -oh wait. Thanks for my $34 refund check from the dmv- Murray- you were the dip who told me I'd be fine to drive home. Sorry my ass you guys dont care about your clients.
