However Aguilas took the cake for putting the Dive in Dive bar. We came in one weekend afternoon to shoot some pool after having run into the owner down in Rocky Point some time ago at his other nice bar with the same namesake. We also saw what he did to renovate the famed Nugget into a modern Mexican Cantina in Maryvale, so what could go wrong. First off the bartender who was a younger lady seemed more interested in her phone than taking orders and seemed a little bummed to work but I dont blame her I dont want to work. I can say the drinks were reasonable and they did have seltzer options for the wifey. The ambience was pretty white trash even for the westside and that's coning from white trash growing up on the westside. They do have two pool tables that were well taken care of but ac was spotty depending on where you stand. They also had smoking which was new to me outside of legion hauls and it got unbearable when two people lit up at once. However, the hypocrite that I am thought it was cool that I could vape like a teenage white girl without hiding it from the gestapo so kudos to them for pushing the boundaries. Nonetheless cigarette smoke is nasty and still dont understand why people think others want to huff their blow back. Maybe im allergic or something. Now from the rumor meal I gleaned that the owner has a dog that runs freely and I heard others brought their dogs. They do have a back patio where I saw a guy let the dog out to do his business, around that same time my wife found a dog turd in the corner of the bar which grossed her out. I gave a few thoughts about picking it up, but a man has to have a line in the sand on cleaning up another man or dogs crap. We shot quite a few games of pool mainly cause we had the bartender turn on the juke box in-between her youtube videos and put in a few songs only to find out there was a queue jammed up that was 15 tracks long. I have seen some reviews that the bathrooms weren't clean but in this case it wasnt true other than the aforementioned doggy poo corner. They do have darts and I must say great billiards tables with a lot of travel. I also had a former coworker and huge fan of Aguilas tell me they have a cool basement at nights for added festivities which sounded really cool and gave me valley bar or downtown Cornish vibes if they can pull that off. Honestly aside from the cigarette smoke and my wife getting skeeved out by doggie doody I could have over looked the sub par service. Maybe ill go back for some basement raves on the weekend and change my perception on the place cause life is to short to just have one bad experience. Edit: I forgot to mention the Drive thru liquor store in front of the bar. We went inside and the dude working the counter was awesome and they had a great beer and liquor select, see its just hard to right a bad review without feeling like a Karen but that liquor store and personnel is 5 stars

Then turned her away. That is not only disrespectful, it's completely out of line. Security's job is to verify IDs, not damage personal property. There are proper procedures for questionable IDs, and this was NOT one of them. No apology, no attempt to resolve the situation -- just unnecessary force and a complete lack of basic respect. If this is how they treat people at the door, I can't imagine how the rest of the establishment operates. I would strongly recommend going somewhere else where staff know how to handle situations professionally. I'm just curious - is the security guard now going to pay for her new ID?? This is OUTLANDISH behavior coming from a plain old Jane of a security guard. Clearly he didn't make the cut at the police academy...

Four of us went to the Haymaker Restaurant on Litchfield Rd in Goodyear, AZ for dinner on 5-20-23. Although the place was pretty busy and we didn't have reservations, we were welcomed and seated immediately. Everyone we interacted with was very friendly. A good start. My wife ordered the Southwest Fried Chicken, my daughter in law ordered the pulled pork, and my son and I ordered Mama's Meatloaf dinners. My son also ordered the Fish and Chips for us to try. My daughter in law said the pulled pork was delicious, flavorful and cooked perfectly. My wife said her fried chicken dinner was very good but a little dry although not overly so. It's hard to cook chicken that is on the thin side but Haymaker did a pretty good job. My son and I both really liked the meatloaf. Although I thought it was a little on the dry side, it was absolutely delicious. We all tried the fish and chips and I have to say I was impressed. I'm from the Northeast and we eat a lot of seafood. I wasn't expecting much but the fish was perfectly cooked, light and flakey, and not greasy. Then there were the mashed potatoes. Really, really, REALLY good. I wanted to rate 4.5 stars only because the chicken and meatloaf were a tad dry but Yelp doesn't do half stars. Normally when this is the case I would have dropped to 4 stars but went up to 5 stars because of our server. I can't remember her name (I'm old and can't find the receipt) but she was outstanding and made the whole experience really great. Kudos, young lady. You are an asset to the company. read more

My wife and I stumbled upon this restaurant one morning when we were looking for a new place for breakfast!!! And boy was it a great find! We have come now almost once every week and we each try something new...NEVER to be disappointed! The older gentleman that seats the door is very friendly and sincere always thanking us for visiting. The service is deserving of an A+ as we are greeted in a timely manner every time! Angela is usually our waitress and is very sweet and attentive. She even acknowledges my 3 year old nephew and makes him laugh! The coffee is delicious and it even comes served with a small CHILLED creamer cup! The menu is reasonably priced and our food ALWAYS arrives shortly after ordering! The amount of food is enough to sink a ship and we never leave hungry! I strongly recommend the HayMakers Benedict!!! Absolutely delicious! This is one of their signature breakfast plate. Mathew, the manager on duty in the mornings not only expedites food out personally but always can be seen checking on various tables.... One might say well maybe you've just had good luck, but for me and my wife who eat out for breakfast twice a week and have visited quite a few establishments, we have YET to be disappointed by this Haymakers restaurant in Goodyear!! This is my second time to this place. The first time we were there on a Saturday before noon and were forced to order breakfast ad they didn't serve lunch until noon. The breakfast was pretty good though I didn't care for the biscuit...too big and VERY dry. Thank god I had gravy with it. The other was normal breakfast items and as I said it wad good. Yesterday we went at 11:45 and were prepared to order breakfast, but low and behold we were there at lunch time. I ordered the chicken fried steak, sister ordered the french dip and Mom ordered the half tuna melt and soup (potato). It really makes me wonder why restaurants buy pre-made food and pass it off as fresh made. The CFS was obviously frozen. How much would it cost to buy fresh and make it there? The veggies were a frozen mix. But the gravy was good. I had to ask for a roll and the waitress said they came in an order of 3 and she would have to charge me. I said Ok and now wish I hadn't. What came out was 3 slider rolls that were taken out of a package and put in a basket. They were not warmed and in fact were stale! The soup was canned as well and needed a lot of seasoning. In fact, everything needed salt and pepper. Overall not a good meal. read more

I went to the Haymaker last night (Saturday night) and it was pretty dead. The atmosphere felt strange, like the staff were staring waiting for us to give them something to do. Maybe it was all in my head... anyway. We ordered the fried pickles as an appetizer because I've been craving them for WEEKS! They were really good, came out super hot which was great because they were completely fresh. If you like fried pickles, get them! I ordered the BLAT - eh. I wouldn't recommend. Nothing special. The fried tomatoes, while seemingly interesting, didn't add anything. The Texas toast that the sandwich comes on was a really great touch, though. All in all - the food is pretty good and worth the price. The service was standard, no complaints there. My only real complaint was that I ordered the Haymaker Sunrise and it took over 10 minutes plus a reminder for it to get made. I'd understand more if it was busy but the bartender wasn't doing anything and there were probably 5-6 tables including us even in the restaurant. Otherwise the drink was good and I'm definitely not a whiskey fan. I'd recommend checking this place out. I really like that it's family owned! read more

Haymaker in Goodyear used to be wonderful when Manny was the manager. They have a new woman manager.....don't know her name, but she needs to leave before the restaurant is no longer a pleasure to visit. Never have a complete list of food on their menu! When you approach her about it, you are told and I quote "things happen, just shake it off." Never an apology. If you touch her, she looks you square in the eye as she gets right in your face and says "don't ever touch me". This is a manager?!! She really needs to go to customer service training. We have been going there and spending lots of money for a few years. Will not step in there while she is still there! I grew up in this area and will tell everyone I know to not go there as long as there is a woman with dark hair cut in a bob managing. My husband told her to get out of my face and she told him that she knew his address. What the heck! A manager??!!! Everyone else is very competent and helpful. She makes the place a very dark dismal environment. She stands around the corner stalking everyone. Very uncomfortable to be there and will not EVER go back until she is gone!! read more

Living in Pebble Creek there's not many places to go as early as we do and my friends and I loved this place...at first. We used to always see a smiling happy young girl, she gave great service and clearly loved the place, talking up the family and menu like she had been with them her whole life, such passion and spunk really lit up the building! Well, it turns out you have to hope to get HER or the place is so-so. We've been there 3 times with 3 different servers in the past 10 days and couldn't be more disappointed! Service: terrible and antisocial. Overall Ambiance: stiff and unwelcoming. When you frequent a place as often as we do you expect to be remembered! Not to mention our order came out wrong 2 outta 3 times!!! Having 1 great server and the rest so mediocre is NOT the way a business will succeed. When asked, we were snippily told that she is no longer working there,and didn't know where shes working now. I don't see us going back. Unfortunate. My husband and I LOVED the breakfast here so I wanted to write a review that was higher, but after two separate occasions of having bad service I needed to be honest!! On our first visit there was a lady (shaved head) that was virtually non-existent. She seemed to put all of her labor and effort into people she knew. She didn't bring our food and never checked back for refills!! The second time was worse!! I think our waiters name was Michael. He reeked of cigarette's and seemed angry. He was openly rude and we felt like it was an inconvenience to ask him for anything. He absolutely didn't want to be there or take care of us. He was also pretty disheveled looking. I might give Haymaker a third shot (my husband says he's out), but it won't be for a long while!! I understand people have bad days, but a friendly presence and a sense of urgency go a long way and having people that don't want to be at work fronting your business is a bad look. read more

First time trying Haymaker, was recommended to me by family. Had the haymaker sampler which was pretty good. I wish the zuchini and pickles used the same batter as the onion rings so there would be less breading. Also got the wings that came with it tossed in rhythm sauce. That was delicious, bbq and hot sauce mixed together. For entree I got the fish n chips with sweet potato fries. Fish was fried perfectly, tartar sauce was pretty good as well. Sweet potatoe fries were perfectly cooked. The coleslaw that came with it honestly could have been left off. It was bland. My only other complaint is I would have liked a lemon with my fish. Overall Id come back again but this time to try breakfast. Service was great, our waitress Gabby was very attentive and friendly. The manager Mary was even walking around checking on everyone. My family and I have eaten at Haymaker several times, mostly breakfast on weekends. One first walks in to the entry to be greeted with the Pledge of Allegiance printed on the wall with copies of the the Constitution and Bill of Rights framed below. Each visit, the staff is cheery and helpful. Servings are generous and price is not out of line. Coffee comes promptly and there is no "competition" among wait staff - one took our order, another delivered it, yet another came with coffee. (I have had waitresses walk past me with the coffee pot and not even look my way because I was not in "their section") The interior is clean and decorated with obvious signs of patriotism and faith. If that is not for you, please go corporate and boost their shareholders bottom line. This is a family operation and it shows. read more

Haymaker Goodyear! Visiting Haymaker Goodyear was an absolute delight! From the moment I walked in, I felt right at home with its modern and welcoming ambiance. The decor strikes the perfect balance between contemporary style and cozy comfort. Our server, Jenesiya (I hope I'm spelling that right), was fantastic! Her vibrant energy and professionalism made the experience even better. She made us feel valued and well taken care of throughout our meal. And the food--wow! I ordered the Huevos Rancheros, and let me tell you, it was incredible. One bite had me doing my happy dance! Every element was perfectly cooked and flavorful. Been here a few times. Good breakfast. Pretty damn decent service and stuff comes out pretty quick like. But the last time I come in we get neglected like I ain't ever been neglected before (the two stars is for the food). I won't name names online but the lady was bald FYI. Lady comes by, isn't friendly, no time for chit chat, takes our food and drink order (because by the time she came we was ready for both) and then we never see her again. I mean I see her around yeah, but she never comes by to check in, say hi, ask how the food is, what's the score, you know? Food was amazing. Service was even better. Manager Mary D. was hands down one of the best waitresses I've ever had. From the moment we sat down, she was friendly, attentive, and genuinely made us feel welcome. She stayed on top of everything without ever being intrusive, made great recommendations, and always had a positive attitude and a smile on her face. It's rare to find someone who truly cares about providing excellent service, but Mary goes above and beyond. She made our entire dining experience enjoyable and memorable. I've been here for brunch and dinner and both times I was satisfied with my service and my food. Brunch was a nice change of pace with my friends and the food and mimosas were really good! It was a little expensive for what we got but I would still return for brunch again! I just came here with my fiancé over the weekend and we had a couple drinks and ordered dinner and the food again didn't disappoint. The only negative impact was the first time my fiancé's burger came out it was pretty undercooked and it had to be sent back. My chicken was good and the fries were a definite win. My wife and I took our four grandchildren for lunch and had an outstanding dining experience. From the greeting from the host to our server we were made to feel very welcome. The menu has plenty of variety and the kids had no problem finding what they liked on the children's menu. Our server Kristy was very friendly, efficient and knowledgeable about the menu. Drinks and salad were brought out very fast with the meal not too far behind. Everyone enjoyed their food. I had the "Bandit" which is an open faced chili burger. The chili is fantastic! Been here twice now. Thier sausage gravy is amazing and the chicken fried steak is HUGE!! The best part for for us has got to be the service though. If its your first time be sure to ask for Lexie. Fast, friendly,and it seems like every table in the room knows her name when she checks on them. Plus, shes nice to look at! The wait isnt too long and theres plenty of tvs on sports. Still searching for that perfect burger in town. This isn't it, but it's up there somewhere near the top. Good selection though, and looking forward to trying some of the stuff on the menu, in particular the pastrami sandwich and breakfast burger caught my eye, but had to start with the classics. Speaking of breakfast, this place looks like a great place for breakfast, will be trying it soon, especially when they have breakfast available anytime. Finally! Was very hesitant about coming in here due to the back and forth review's everyone had. Though I have been here a couple times now, I truly enjoy this place. The breakfast is hands down amazing. The place is quite and nice. The service is a hit or miss sometimes I've taken family and friends here and there will be times that is beyond amazing and attentive and others when its half ass.. We ordered the Haymaker sampler and it was delicious. The rhythm sauce (spicy bbq) was great on the wings. Everything was hot and fresh and fried really nicely. The B.L.A.T was well made though I should have asked for light mayo. For drinks I tried the Kurvball Bloody Mary which was a delightful experience. A Bloody Mary made with BBQ Whiskey! Gabby was an amazing server who answered all our questions since it was out first time here. Even Mary the manager checked in on us to see how we were doing. Great customer service. Mary was a great server! She was super friendly, checked on us often, and made sure we always had what we needed. She recommended the French toast and I'm so glad she did because it was honestly one of the best things we ordered. Manager Mary was also out on the floor checking on tables, helping seat people, and making sure everything was running smoothly. The place was only about 30% filled so we sat right away. The server was nice, friendly. We arrived during happy hour so got a slight discount on the drinks. So we ordered some buffalo wings. As you can see from the pic we ate them all. They were just OK. No crisp to them and hardly any sauce. Then the food came and oh boy, what a mistake our dinner decision was. My wife got the AZ Burger which tasted like rubber. The fries were strange also, like they were microwaved, cold. She barely ate 1/4 of the burger. Took it home and the kids didn't even eat it. Then to top it off, the dogs turned it down. For my plate I ordered the Chicken Fried Steak. Looked good but zero flavor. I loaded it up with salt and pepper and I ended up eating it all. Then I find out the total bill was just about ninety bucks!!!! Holy smokes. One other time I want to the Litchfield park location for breakfast and it was good. But this location, for dinner, never again. Hopefully they just had an off night.

It was a little odd because for most of the first 10 minutes there was no one behind the bar and the place already seemed understaffed. When our friends arrived one of their drinks came out quickly but the sweet tea was forgotten and had to be reminded after we were asked if we were ready to order food. Once we ordered, the food took around 40 minutes to arrive even though the restaurant was only about half full. We also noticed a few tables that came in after us getting their food first. That can happen, so it was not a huge deal, but it definitely stood out. The biggest issues came when the food arrived. Our friends' meals were good, but instead of the spinach con queso we ordered we were brought the spicy bean dip. By the time the correct appetizer finally came out about 10 minutes later we had already started eating our chimichangas. The spinach con queso was extremely runny, had almost no flavor, and honestly was not edible. We asked to have it removed from the bill and our server was very kind about it. I do want to say that this was not a bad experience because of the server. She was friendly and did her best. It really felt like the restaurant was understaffed and set up to struggle. We actually frequent the Glendale location and absolutely love it. The staff there is always welcoming, the food is consistently fresh and packed with flavor, and the whole place has a warm, authentic atmosphere. While the Goodyear location is definitely newer and has nicer accommodations, it feels much more corporate and seems to be missing some of the culture and charm that makes the Glendale location so enjoyable. Overall it was not a terrible meal, but it also was not one that left us wanting to come back to this location.

Today, our breakfasts are experienced at places like "Over Easy," "First Watch," "Village Inn," and "Denny's." It's industrial breakfast. The old-fashioned, mom-and-pop diners are as rare as a hen's tooth. But not in Buckeye, Arizona. The Heritage is a welcome return to the great, neighborhood breakfast counters of old. It's privately owned and the owner, Kevin, greets you and stops by your table. "That's great," you say. But what about the food? And that's where The Heritage makes its name. Let's start with the homemade, pillowy sourdough English muffins. Most places use some industrial-food English muffin preserved with disgusting ingredients like L-Cysteine. These aren't those. These are like your grandma made. They're soft, yeasty circles of beauty with just enough sourdough taste to send your tastebuds into bread heaven. They're a far cry from your basic English muffin. On to the eggs. Most breakfast restaurants use liquid eggs from the restaurant supply. They come in big bags, bereft of nutritious value and flavor, but full of preservatives. Not these. The Heritage uses fresh eggs and they've perfected how to make them fluffy, buttery, and perfectly-cooked. No brown spots or runny middles. It's egg perfection. The sausage is really different. These are not your usual Sysco or Shamrock greasy pucks. They're thin and fresh and meaty and just slightly spicy (not hot just slightly herby). They're a subtle flavor surprise. And fork tender. The potatoes are little cubes of rich goodness. Cooked just right and golden brown. They're excellent. To finish off the breakfast, Heritage serves a luscious Carmel pecan roll with a vanilla glaze. I liked it but it was slightly dry if I want to be ridiculously nit-picky. But most people wouldn't even notice. All of it is served by some smiling young women who were working hard and answering lots of questions. The entire service experience was pleasant, friendly, and efficient. On a Saturday morning the place was PACKED so service was slightly slow. Though nothing like a crazy morning at Over-Easy or First Watch. What an amazing and pleasant surprise this little restaurant is. Their breakfast burrito looked excellent and everybody around us was raving about it. I'll try that next. The menu is small but efficient and contains some little gems. Give the cinnamon roll a try too! This is an absolute must for breakfast or brunch. And I hear the owner is thinking about offering dinner in the near future. A needed find in a historic building in old downtown Buckeye. A new favorite.

If I had to rate it, I'd say 7/10. The fries were just cooked enough and almost had a hint of being undercooked. The burger itself was pretty tasty, but if the bun was a little softer, I would've given it a solid 9/10. Still, their breakfast is always delicious, and that's usually what keeps us coming back.
