I've been here for drinks a few times over the years. Went here for dinner once because the line across the street (at a very popular burger joint) was just entirely too long. Since I was craving a burger I ordered a smash burger. It was messy, but I absolutely loved it. Large portion of fries on the side. My main reason for deducting a star was the service. Our server was always MIA until we flagged down another server. When we made a request, that person would send over our original server who was not pleased that we sought help from else where. This happened about 3 times (drinks, silverware, ketchup, etc.). Haymarket is a West Loop staple, that is for sure, but it would be better to feel as if the patronage was valued a little bit. read more

Came across Haymarket while walking around during Black Friday. This is definitely a sports bar where sports fan come to watch their teams on one of the many TVs around the bar and seating area. Super straightforward bar where you have plenty of beer options to choose from. They're located in a prime area of West Loop and are always very busy. My best friend and I luckily got one of the last high tops available on a Saturday night and we ordered our seltzers without any problems. My husband and I were looking for a fun bar to just go grab a drink on a cool Saturday afternoon in the city. I was looking for a place that had a cozy fun atmosphere and he was looking for good beers. So we ended up stopping at Haystack Pub and Brew. We walked in and sat right at the bar. Off the top I would say it is a very pub/Tavern type bar. In my head, it wasn't really what I was looking for, but we were there so I figured we'd give it a try. Our bartender was very friendly. We each ordered our drinks. My husband, who is a beer, connoisseur, ordered the Chicago Tavern, which he really enjoyed. I opted for a cocktail and ordered (I can't recall the name of my drink unfortunately because it was so very good) but it had their homemade strawberry basil, seltzer with soda water, and simple syrup I believe. It was Berry Something... it was an outstanding drink. I don't usually find things made so perfect for what I want but this was it. We each got a Bavarian pretzel as a snack and the pretzel was amazing. Super soft on the inside with a crisp outside, beer cheese, and a great mustard! We met a very nice couple sitting next to us and it ended up being a very nice stop in our day. Other than the pretzel, we did not try any food, but the restaurant side of it looked quite busy in the middle of the day. Moral of the story... going in it might not exactly be what you were imagining, but give it a try. You can have some very pleasant unexpected surprises. read more

They kept the mimosas coming!!! One of my besties saw this place on tik tok & took me here to get away from the woes of life. It was the perfect spot. We sat on the patio. It was a beautiful day and we had an awesome server. They had limited options for vegan/ pescatarian meals but there were a decent amount of vegetarian option. The menu wasn't extensive so in comparison this is pretty good. The food I did order was delicious!! I had the French toast & guacamole with chips. Yummmm!!! My bestie ordered a salad. Our experience at Haymarket was great. Located in the heart of West Loop, Haymarket offers a casual vibe that can not be found in many of the other restaurants around here. We came in without a reservation on a Saturday night and were able to be seated at a high top table by the window immediately. Our server was phenomenal! With everyone focused on the other hyped up restaurants on Randolph, this place is an old reliable staple that I can always count on. There is almost never a wait, they have a fantastic beer selection, and the food is solid. Haymarket was unfortunately one that I forgot about which was unfortunate but I am in the process of repairing by getting a review posted now. Thanks to retrieving notes of these beer experiences. Two Hoppy Hearts was the name of the beer that I had here, a red ale. It was pleasant and refreshing! The flavors to find with this beer is a fun maltiness. The hops in this beer are Amarillo and Cotra hops which brought a nice combination together with it's hop profile for the beer. This beer was made specifically for a wedding apparently but I did not attend or know the couple so it was a beer that made it to the general public. read more

Stopped by Haymarket Brewery in Chicago and had an outstanding experience! I ordered the Pork Milanese and it was absolutely fantastic--crispy, flavorful, and cooked to perfection. Easily one of the best dishes I've had at a brewpub. To go with it, I tried their Speaker Wagon Pilsner, and it was a perfect pairing. Light, crisp, and incredibly refreshing--ideal for a warm day or just unwinding after a long one. The staff truly made the visit even better. Jonathan behind the bar was friendly and knowledgeable, and John, our server, was incredibly attentive and welcoming. Great food, great drinks, and genuinely great people. Food wise - ordered the smash burger which was solid, didn't blow me away compared to other locations I've been to but no complains at all. I think if you had a sesame bun, it would bring it over the top. Just not a huge fan of the bun they use. Fries were decent, well seasoned but some of them seemed stale. Had an order of the Buffalo wings which were also solid, and my SO ordered the pulled pork sandwich with the crème - perfectly cooked, bread was perfect, and the pork with the crema was a perfect combination. Great bar pub with locally brewed beers and seltzer's. Hostess greeted and sat me immediately and offered a menu even though there is a qr code on the stand as well. Alot of sandwiches, melts and burgers as well as pizzas on the menu and homemade pizza stix. I tried the patty melt which came with fries and for a drink their homemade hawaiian punch seltzer. Fruit forward and smooth with berry notes. All of their brews are available to get in cans and take home which the server informed me about. Came in after lollapalooza & there was no wait time. LOOOOVE the pepperoni and banana pepper pizza. Absolutely stunning, I haven't come across this flavor combo before. The acidity and heat cuts through the richness of the pepperoni and the cheese & the basil is so delightful. I ordered a bacon cheeseburger but the pizza was so much better. We knew we had to stop for a beer at at least one brewery while visiting Chicago. We were in the West Loop most of the day, and stumbled on Haymarket Brewery. We sat at the bar and the bartender was super nice and he was quick too. If you got low on a drink he was fast at making sure you didn't go empty. The beers choices were good. We went with a hazy IPA and a pineapple beer. They were both good, but nothing to write home about. The place seemed really busy on the restaurant side since the White Sox were playing. Overall is was okay. Maybe other beers would have been better. Maybe next time we visit Chicago. read more

A lot to get here. Haymarket of course has beer but it's also a pub. It has a pretty big draft list and menu too. Good stuff but it's pretty expensive so it's not like you just knock a few back here all the time because it's too costly. They amazingly have some vegan and healthier options. I came for fun with a few coworkers. It was busy as it always is. There are some seats at the bar so we ended up being very lucky to get these. Beer is the main thing here of course. They have a lot of they own plus lots of guest taps. I had a Speakerswagon pilsner. It's $7.50 for a pint. This is kind of high for a pint but it is a pretty nice looking craft brewery though. It should be expected. They also have a pretty big food menu. Again it's expensive. The food even more so. I had the Beyond Burger. It's $14 and at least has toppings on it. They load it up. A lot makes it hard to eat. This comes with lettuce, sweet shallots, and tomatoes. A good meal packed with protein. This comes with a side. Good stuff but too expensive to come here on my own very often so maybe in a few months I might come back. It has a big area for entertainment and music. This is a pretty happening place so make reservations if you have a large group if you want a table. read more

This place is known for Bros coming to drink all night. I was in the area and needed a place to eat, and this was my only option that didn't have a wait. The fried cheese curds were a pleasant surprised, topped with a sweet pepper, eat bite had me going in for more. The Southwest Salad was delicious and the freaking was a great compliment. The salad was fresh and the chicken rounded it out nicely. The Diner Burger isn't on the menu. We just wanted a burger without the fancy gimmicks offered on the menu. They did it with no problem. It came with 2 patties and had your traditional juiciness to it. Pretty good, but definitely heavy, just as a burger should be. A simply phenomenal experience all around! My friends and I were looking for a spot to watch some of the bowl games, grab a drink and some grub. Haymarket checked off all the boxes. To start, they were running a special where all beer was $4. This truly can't be beat especially considering the wide variety on hand. My favorite of the few I had was definitely the Roxx_a_Doodle_Brew. Easy drinking and very flavorful I should have gotten a six pack to go. In terms of food, I ordered the chorizo Benny (pictured). The sandwich was open faced with two poached eggs on top of a chorizo covered biscuit. It came with a home fry bacon mix. This was a pleasant and delicious surprise. It was very easy to clear this plate. With a lot of TV's, an all-star staff, and great food/drink, Haymarket will be on my shortlist for places to go again! read more

We ate here years ago and loved the food. We returned today for a late lunch on a Sunday and had a fantastic experience. One of our group had a flight of delicious beers, and the most popular was the Blood Orange Blonde Ale. Others had the Chicago Tavern Beer, a Dortmunder lager, and the Sun Dancer hefeweizen. Everyone loved the beer! Top notch! For lunch, one of our group wanted the Patty Melt but it came on rye bread with Caraway seeds - a definite no-no for this Patty Melt lover. Our server even brought out a slice of the bread on a plate for them to check out and see if it was a no or a go. Our server said another bread could be easily substituted and sour dough was agreed upon, and the sandwich was amazing! I had a Big Mick Burger and it was wonderful. Great taste, nicely caramelized at the edges, and great crisp fries. Another had the Bacon Cheeseburger and it was declared 'the best burger they ever ate!' Haymarket is a great Chicago brewing landmark. Amazing beer, great food, a tip of the hat to our long labor history, and a place that gets it right.
