Two things to note right off: I read somewhere there was a valet and there wasn't. They said there was street parking and everything was taken for blocks. They gave us directions to a parking ramp about a block away. I would call ahead for directions if you go there. We were seated immediately. The hostess was very friendly and helpful. Our waitress was very nice and efficient. The only time we found ourselves looking for her was at the very end for our check. All our food was amazing! There was only one problem: it was all very filling. (We didn't mind though :) ).We took most of our entrees home. The menu is very much comfort food themed. The wait times were good. And the drinks were good as well. It is an open air concept. Kind of industrial reminiscent. This makes the acoustics great and the room loud at times. It was loud when we were there. We had a great time once we were seated. The Parking was a headache, but once we got past that we were fine. I'd say definitely give them a try. Just make sure you're hungry! read more

You would think this would be a great spot to watch a game but the TVs are very up high and you can't herder them but the worst part is the service. Ended up here to watch the World Cup game, the place was not packed the everywhere around was, we asked for a table they said they were all reserved, fair enough but the we were left just standing there. One of party asked if the patio was reserved as is completely empty. The hosts seemed to be put off and said yeah it's first come first serve , no food or bar service. Just really did not want us there. We grabbed some beers , the bartender was veryy nice, he was the only one, everywhere we walked we were pushed and yelled at by wait staff, they just were not pleasant. Then the food I mean what a joke, we asked the bartender if we could order food and pick it up at the bar, he told us he'd have it delivered to us at our patio table, which we were told was not possible. Ok the food arrived, our order of fries was literally 6 fries, I am not kidding, we got some pretzel bites, I think there were 6, wtf. The only thing reasonable was a bread platter I didn't order it so not sure what it was but everyone was ordering so there you go. I doubt they will be around long, I will never return. read more

We sat at the bar after getting rained out at Tetto and really enjoyed the experience! The bartender was so incredibly friendly and went above and beyond to make us comfortable. They are an experimental brewery so they have your favorite classics but also a rotation of new & interesting brews. I absolutely LOVED the pineapple coconut stout! I'm huge on beer in general but I'm a little picky so I was pleasantly surprised. The fries were fun, it was a medley of waffle, curly and regular fries. The food menu is on the smaller side. My friend is gluten free so there wasn't really much she can have. That said, the bartender was nice enough to point out a gluten free beer but double check if it was safe was Celiac. It was not but he gave her one of her ciders on the house as a make good, which was a very nice gesture that we really appreciated it! Stopped in before meeting up with friends. No idea this was even here. Very cute and modern. Outdoor seating, but we sat at the bar. Just had one drink and it was good. Service was a little slow but thankfully we didn't need much. They do have a computer on the gift shop area where you can see what type of beer suits you best if you're inside. Guinness Brewery is a great place to go for brunch and lunch. A lot of comfort foods with an Irish flair on the menu. The space is really open and quite big. A decent sized patio as well with also a gift shop with all kinds of fun Guinness gifts to purchase. The food is decent I really loved the Reuben egg rolls which comes with a great dipping sauce. The service was great and we didn't have to wait too long for a table either. Also TVs available if you want to go somewhere and catch a game. read more

After driving way longer than we wanted to on a Friday early evening we finally arrived with no reservation. Of course we were told to wait and it would be an hour. We were bummed, but after a few minutes they called us over to eat at a reserved bar table. We had 90 or so minutes to eat before the reserved party would show up. That was not ideal but a good compromise. We sampled a few beers and ordered some Guinness bread. The server was kind and efficient, we were able to finish our drinks and take bread home before the reserved time. The water was good too (usually it's very bleachy in bars!) The Winter Warmer beer was nice and spicy, so we got a 6 pack to go. There is a side section of tables with no view of tvs. We did not sit there and it was not suggested, but when we left a group of people were at the table. Maybe it is just for groups? The Blackhawks in the NFL were playing, so that was good to see, though they lost later. We felt better when we left than when we came in tired and thirsty. I am thinking the rush and excitement has started to die down. It was pretty dead on a Friday afternoon. Street parking is limited, but we scored a spot. I tried 2 small pours of their ipas. Rang in St. Patrick's Day here and can't think of a more festive place to have done it! From live entertainment to delicious food and ales, we had a fantastic experience all around. They had a lot of special events going on for the holiday, so as you might imagine, it was difficult to snag a table even before 5pm. We managed to get a spot on the patio, which was insulated really well. It would be a great place to hang out in the summer. Our server was very attentive and provided great recommendations. To drink, we honored the occasion with imported Guinness stouts, which were light-bodied with a great depth. Per recommendation, we started with the hummus appetizer, and all I have to say is: do not sleep on this! The hummus was super flavorful and well seasoned, served alongside the most delicious grilled za'atar naan. The fresh crudites provided a really nice contrast. Highly recommend! For mains, we ordered the Guinness beef stew and the bangers and mash. The latter was my favorite of the two- the sausages were extra crispy on the outside and very tender. The mashed potatoes were super creamy and the bacon-onion mustard gravy was delicious. My favorite part may have been the brown beer bread served alongside- this stuff is absolutely addictive. I thought the beef stew was also well done with very tender meat, but just wasn't as flavorful as the other entree. Throughout the meal, we were treated to traditional Irish music complete with a bagpipe troupe. Went here after a long day and it was pretty great. Got to sit at the harp bar (what a cute feature!) and had a couple rounds and some bread and fries. The bread and the butter that came with it?? Incredible. Haven't had such good bread since I was in Ireland. The fries and whatever sauce came with it?? Also incredible. My friend and I looked at the menu afterwards and decided we have to come back at least twice more when we get our butts back to Chicago. The only downfall? Everything is so darn expensive. Finally got to check out this brewery at a time it wasn't as crowded. Guinness Open Gate is the American location where they brew this famous brand from Ireland. It has the classics you already know plus a few they brew specially. A tourist trap at times so go when it isn't jammed. They also have a kitchen. Certainly it can get busy. It's one of the newer big places that have opened in the West Loop. There was already a lot of people around here and this makes it even worse. At least the beers are great. It's about $8 a pint. Yes the prices are bad though. A few varieties that can't be gotten anywhere else. There's not a ton but there's a few. One we got was the Kinzie Street Pale Ale. This is made with Citra and Galaxy hops and is mildly bitter. You can get pretty good food too. It's about $20 for an entree. Yes these are a lot too. I got the Chickpea Coconut Curry. This has bell peppers, coconut milk, jasmine rice, lime, naan, and tomatoes. Great place to check out a few Irish beers you can't get elsewhere. It's located on Kinzie at Peoria. There's meaty things as well as other things for vegetarians. read more

Also it was pretty ridiculous we spent almost $1K, the cake was commercially prepared, they held the cake in their fridge while our event was taking place, but then it came time for desert and the manager said we couldn't do it because there was a "law." We visited Guinness Open Gate Brewery on 04/22/2026, for a party of 13 with online reservation. This review will be solely based my own experience, not the entire group. We visited around 12pm, and we had a designated server. The server was very patient with us, especially we did not come entirely as a group. We came one a a time, and the server kept checking up on us periodically. He was very attentive about our needs and that made the experience very pleasant. The food was surprisingly very good. We ordered potato soup and baos, and they both tasted delicious. The soup came with a bread, which was so delicious when paired with the soup. It was sweet! I had michalada, with the blonde ale instead of Guinness. It tasted spicy! There was also a live music band playing Irish songs, which I think made the whole ambiance very soothing, like it made me feel like I was in Ireland. My lovely wife and I finally made it to Guinness Open Gate Brewery the other day. We enjoyed tasty food and drink during a magical visit to the Guinness emporium in Dublin a couple of years ago, and indeed I am a fan of Guinness beer, so we were destined to hit our local Guinness OGB. This location is a bit out of the way on West Kinzie, separated from the Fulton Market area by an active set of railroad tracks. The interior features a giant "harp" design hanging over its central bar, and the shop area displays some fun products and a few brews you can purchase to take home. Our server was kind and attentive to us, keeping us hydrated with water too. We did not have any food, but the brews were nice. We started with an "ORD" flight of four beers, and the clear winner of this group was the delectable Chef's Shifty hazy IPA. I was too "full" to consume a 20-ounce pour of Guinness, but the smaller 8-ounce glass was just the ticket for me. read more

I've been to this location a couple of times now, and I will definitely say this is a great spot to visit with a large group! The brewery itself is spacious and has beautiful finishes. It can be a little overwhelming, as there's often a lot of people both working and visiting. We've yet to try the food, but you can always enjoy the drinks! Do NOT go here for Notre Dame football games. Even though it's an "official Notre Dame bar", the TVs are very challenging to see unless you're sitting at the bar and they don't even play the game sound. The service was also fairly slow and the didn't give any water pitcher/carafe. The food is also just ok. The best by far was the pretzel and its dips, though the cheese dip got very oniony. The cheese curds were pretty good by themselves, but I wasn't a big fan of the spicy dipping sauce. The fries were pretty good, but the burger had a sort of charry taste. Only good thing about it was the onion jam. Overall, if you're going to try some new guiness flavors or get an authentic guiness pint or some cool merch, that's great. Made a reservation for Saturday brunch. Just beer is served. No wine, mimosas or anything. This is fine for me, but I can see how other people wouldnt be down. Menu is okay. Service was okay. Since we were in town visiting, my cousin that is from Chicago, suggested this spot because she wanted to check it out too. It's a very spacious restaurant and brewery. Although they don't have a kids menu, it is a family friendly restaurant. We ordered a few apps to share such as parmesean truffle fries, cheese curds, and a Bavarian pretzel. They have a good selection of beer, cocktails and of course we had to try the seasonal Creme brulee (earl grey). Attended the St. Patrick's day event at Guinness this year and had such a great time. The venue is huge and sooo cute and even has an outdoor space! We had a few of their St. Pattys day menu items and tried various beers. My favorite dish was the Reuben Rolls, absolutely DELICIOUS. They were so popular at our table so we placed a few orders of that. All dishes were fairly large and easily shareable. Beer wise, my favorite was Try Line (Hazy IPA). However, if you are into more of the fruity flavors, my friends loved the Van Van Mojo (blueberry cider). The service was fantastic especially on such a busy day.
