Was craving a burger and a beer and with such a cool name, how could I not check this place out! I sat at the bar around 5pm and it wasn't very busy. They played good music and wasn't too loud. You could easily carry on a conversation or , like me, continue listening to a podcast. By the time I finished, the place was completely full and a bit noisy, but not bad. I started out with a 10oz Birds of Prey Pilsner. It was very nice. Light and crisp and very easy to drink. I followed that up with Melodious Maibock and ordered the CBG burger with fries. I didn't have lunch so I dove right in and forgot to snap a photo. It was a very good smash burger. It was cooked well and I really liked the combination of pickled onion and caramelized onion. I didn't see it until later but you can add bacon. As much as I loved this burger, bacon would totally take it up a notch! I started chatting with the bartender about their different beers and decided to have the Super Melodious Jalapeño Maibock with the burger. It's soooo different, but in a good way. It paired so well with the burger. You get green bell pepper on the nose and a hint of it on the palate. When you swallow you get a little heat at the back of the throat. It was so good! Great bar. Came here multiple times and each time ordered the beer flight--for me, there wasn't a bad beer in the lot and it was a great way to have a little of this and a little of that! Bar service can get a little backed up depending on how crowded the place is...one time I was there, the bar was so crowded that I couldn't flag down a server long enough to place a food order so, before I left, I placed my food order to go using the mobile route. Whatever, I didn't care. I'm pretty chill. Anyway, burger was still good when I walked it back to my hotel. We wanted a casual dinner downtown before the fireworks and Crushed by Giants fit the bill. There's construction happening in the building so the entrance is a little obstructed, but they posted enough signage for anyone to find them. We ordered fries, a pretzel and the CBG burger. Everything was pretty good and I appreciate that the pretzel came with three different dipping sauces. It was super busy, even for a Saturday, but everyone was friendly and helpful. As a Chicago resident of over a decade, this was my first time visiting Crushed By Giants! After some shopping with my future in laws, my partner wanted to give this place a try! He picked it based off the beer and "the sports bar feel". It is very much not a sports bar and there were no tvs! Haha Anyway, he gets an A for effort! All of our food was amazing! A brewery off the main drag in Downtown Chicago...we had to check it out!! Located on the second level with the AMC theater, this brewery and restaurant is a tucked away oasis! Plenty of tables and bar seating, this casual spot was perfect for a break from the hustle. We were really drawn to the artwork and whimsy of it all! Our server was a bit short and non-present but it didn't ruin the experience. They have a good variety of seasonal and all the time brews! This place was an awesome find, right across the street from our Marriott hotel. It's a bit hidden, inside the theater building, up the escalator, with the door a little off to the side of the second floor landing. When the rest of Chicago's local mainstream beers failed me, all do the beers at this place were top notch. I ordered the burger which was amazing, makes sense why they were rated one of the top burgers in Chicago. The waitress was really nice and dealt with our split checks and business checks for food only. She even recognized my obscure 90s tattoo, one of the first :). What a lifesaver this place was! We were looking for a place to sit down and have a meal on a Saturday night after driving into town. We were greeted at the door by the bartender and told we could sit anywhere besides the booths. We found a table in the bar area and were greeted by Santiago, our fantastic waiter. He was so attentive but gave us space to enjoy our meal. We tried both their seasonal Kolsch and Pilsner and they were so drinkable and went down smooth with our meal. We got the Reuben egg rolls to start and my husband, who is a huge fan of Reuben's said this may be his favorite rendition! He ordered the proclaimed "best burger in Chicago" and agreed it was absolutely delicious. He liked that the bacon was ground into the beef patty for an evenly distributed smoky flavor. I had the falafel wrap which was so good with crisp, cold salad with tzatziki and warm falafel all rolled into a wrap for a delicious, handheld meal. Inside, you can see their beer vats as part of the decor as well as many pieces of artwork featuring their fuzzy Giant. It's a fun atmosphere and I would recommend it! Tucked just off Michigan Avenue off of street level, it feels like you're stepping into a hidden beer garden with an awesome atmosphere and laid-back vibe. The beer was incredibly refreshing and light--perfect for relaxing after exploring the city. The food was outstanding, and you can really taste that everything is made from scratch. The house-made dips were fantastic, but the house-made herb ranch deserves a special shoutout. All I have to say is... get the herb ranch! Great drinks, amazing food, and a unique atmosphere. I get hesitant with breweries in the city..they're normally not my favorite, but this spot was a pleasant surprise. Their flight has all their beers on tap and all were so good. You can find Crushed by Giants at 600 N Michigan 2nd Floor, Chicago, IL 60611 - I believe this is called "Near North Side." I'm not sure about the parking as I spotted it from the street while walking from my hotel on Magnificent Mile to Pizzaria Uno nearby. The Brewery occupies the second floor of a building that also contains an AMC theater - it's easier so spot the red AMC on the white background than the Crushed by GIants graphics. The entry is on N. Michigan and you take an escalator up to the second floor - there are some pretty amazing giant monster graphics to guide you in, and if you hadn't guessed, this is a kaiju (giant monster) inspired brewery. I had 45 minutes to kill so I spent them in Crushed by Giants before continuing to my hotel. Loved pretty much everything about this place - cozy yet very open and airy due to the tall ceilings and windows. Also you can't beat the theme (wished they had some stickers for me to take home). They had 6 beers on tap so ordered a flight and was able to taste them all: * Neon Werewolf NEIPA 6.8% - ABV Nice citrus and tropical fruit hazy, beautiful lacing and well done. Hoppy slightly piney finish. 4/5 * Talos Vienna Lager 5.2% ABV - Well done, bold malty nose with bready and toffee notes, appropriately bitter finish. 4/5 * Goliath's Bane Session IPA 4.2% ABV - Fruity easy drinker with pineapple notes, a bit sweet with fantastic lacing and a slightly perfume hoppy finish. 3.6/5 * Chimera New Zealand Pilsner 5.2% !BV - Light slammable pils with a peachy fruity note, no malts to speak of, dry hoppy finish. 3.8/5 * Banana Bread, At Work Dude! Hefeweizen 5% ABV - Tasty Hef, one of my favorite styles, big banana nose, dry finish and amazing lacing. 4.1/5 * El Cuco Mexican Lager 5.4% ABV - Dark toasted malt body, nutty woody notes in a dry body and bitter finish. 3.6/5 Of these I enjoyed the Banana Bread Hefe the most - I could see myself enjoying one daily. The service was exceptional (I sat at the bar) with enthusiastic servers and very quick responses. Great brewery in the heart of Chicago. Great servers with willingness to give recommendations. Would recommend booking a table if you can as it is quite popular and will fill up. We had their pretzel and beer cheese as its a traditional app for us that we get anytime we see it, and we weren't disappointed. Great service, loved the atmosphere and found a new favorite beer- Neon Werewolf Hazy. Amazing! The mural on the side of the building always captivated me as I would walk out of the parking garage, and I wasn't disappointed in what I discovered. Interesting experience going up an escalator to get inside, I was immediately welcomed in when I peeked in the door. Warm colored wood and lights, huge brewers on the walls. The area was nice and bright with a chill rustic vibe. Limited food menu but was delicious and elevated for its price point, but that's to be expected considering its purpose of it being a brewery. I am a barista so even with my stance on not drinking, I really wanted to try some non-alcoholic options! There weren't too many listed on the menu; two beer options, and an offer to make some of their drinks mocktails, but nothing too extensive. Again, not a complaint! I had a great time and definitely will come back to try some other mocktails whenever I can. Crushed by Giants is run by the same folks as Dryhop and Corridor brewing, so some of the beers will be familiar to you if you've been to either place. But most are unique. The brewery and taproom are beautiful. They play good music and it's all nice and comfy. Great bar area, and also a small-ish dining area. The staff are excellent, very knowledgable about the beers, so you should ask them for recommendations. The variety of beers is pretty broad, so I think you'll be okay. They also have other non-beer drinks if that's your jam. Unfortunately I can't comment on the food as we didn't eat here. But the food looked great and appeared similar to what is served at Dryhop (where I have eaten), so I have high expectations. It's really ice to have a craft beer brewery just off Michigan with reasonable prices, rather than the high-priced places nearby. Give this a try and I think you'll be happy. read more

Went on a double date here tonight for snacks and a drink! So many of the restaurants in Chicago were busy because of the holidays but this was not bad! Service was quick and not too crowded! It is right by AMC, if I didn't know that I think it would've been harder to find. I like the wall art leading up to it. Also like how they have the tanks for the beer that you can see in the restaurant! I got a nonalcoholic sour and my husband got a couple IPAs and we thought they were really good! For food we got Mac n cheese, fries, and a pretzel! Pretzel was good but I wished it was bigger! Man n cheese was a little bland but not bad, fries were yummy and loved the aioli. My brother in law got a burger and enjoyed it, especially how it had a sesame seed bun! Prices were as expected. Has a fun experience here! read more

This place is always solid. As a member of the DryHop group, the beers are always predictable and consistent. It may be hard to find, as you have to take the escalator up towards the theater, but once you're inside the atmosphere is lively and open and bright. The food is just as good as the beer, if not better. The burger is popular and the pizza is delicious.
