Worth the trip! The wraparound bar is spacious and the bartenders are friendly. I had a good time people watching--the crowd changes depending on who is playing at The Salt Shed next door. The beer, of course, is great. I could watch their flippy menu on the wall all day long. The updates every few seconds are soothing. I come for the 312 Block party where you're able to sample some of the very delicious Bourbon County Stout and I come for the annual Black Friday new BCS releases. Really surprised at how nice this place was! We kind of just stumbled in while waiting for a concert to start next door at the salt shed. We checked online and were able to make a quick reservation so we were seated pretty much right away! The vibe is like an old brewery/warehouse and there is plenty of seating. The bar is in the middle, and I think if you don't have a reservation, and you're okay with sitting at the bar, you can sit right away too. We got the pretzels, cheese curds, and Chicago fried chicken sandwich and everything was really good! The mustard that comes with the pretzel and the ranch that came with the curds were DELISH! This place is the fricken' coolest. The ambience, the people, the tour, the merch...10/10 across the board. The tour is over an hour and as they take you through the brewery, it's deceiving because it keeps going and going. They really utilized their space and did a great job! Eliseo was my tour guide and he's such a great guide. He's funny, engaging, and knowledgeable, so if you get him, you're going to have a fantastic time. At the bar, I few more and the cheese plate. It was the snack that kept on giving; surprisingly filling and I loved the variation of choices. The staff is so friendly and fun. I had Kesley and Julian at the bar and they really listened to me on what I like to guide me to what I should try. There's nothing terrible there. There's a lot of options to choose from, so there's something for everyone. I can't wait to visit again because this was one of my favorite places to visit. read more

I have drank many a Goose Island Stout thanks to my Chicago Friends. I came here hoping to have a Prop I have never tasted and thought the Banana Foster was available, and I am a banana loving freak, I did not opt to get the bottle. Instead I took a different route and got a few samples of the beers on tap. We got a pale, pils, hazy, la palomita, they had a beer with peppers I tried as well and a cuvee. The space is fairly big with indoor bar seating, table seating and outdoor patio seating. We chose to sit outdoors, but I did geek out on the barrels inside where I took some photos. I can see this place as being a great place to meet up with friends and have an afternoon beer, to the business the holidays will have with all the stouts coming out. I'm sure the place has a buzz to it. I definitely hope to make a re appearance next year! read more

I had the pretzel when I came here; it was pretty good. The food options are limited though. I had a Pilsner which was pretty good; fresh and light and my friend had a fruited ale which was also tasty. I think I might've picked the wrong day to go because it seemed like there was a Goose Island Company event. So there were a lot of guys in a corner table wearing Goose Island shirts. Which was chill until it came time to order beer. My friend and I were cut in line by two of them and the bar tender didn't seem to notice us standing in front of him for a while. So as for customer service it wasn't great at all. I didn't even think it was that busy but I guess employees get the fast pass to the front? Idk, that didn't seem right to me. read more

It's in an industrial part of town but close to a train station. I like trying the local brews, even though this brewery was bought out by inBev. The tap room is clean, has lots of tables and seats. You can see their lab from the taproom too, they have all of their equipment out too. The bartenders were polite and efficient. They have options for flights, 1/2 pours, they are very accommodating. The restrooms were very clean and had a list of upcoming of events. They have lots of merchandise to purchase, from key chains, glasses, and more. read more

Pretty meh experience at the Goose Island Taproom. Most of their beers are the standard ones you fine across many bars or stores in the US. They did have decent barrel-aged ones but $14-15 for a small 6 oz pour, ouch!! The vibe itself is fairly basic, the seats are wood or metal stools, the bar was OK. What was also pretty lame is that they serve no food but don't allow dogs. What's up with that? Midwest Coast Brewing is a few blocks away and allows dogs inside, in fact the staff welcome them kindly. The bartender who took our order was actually very nice and helpful, but the other bartender after 20+ minutes suddenly walked to the side area and noticed we had a small dog with us, and then he got kind of rude saying we couldn't be in there with a dog. Honestly it made us feel unwelcome, we didn't know we couldn't have our dog in there and all the patrons loved our friendly dog. In the future I'll support local Chicago craft breweries like Midwest Coast Brewing instead of going to a big national brewery like Goose Island. read more

I came with a group of 10+ (I lost track of my friends and friends of friends after 10) on a brewery crawl around the area. Goose Island was my least favorite. Nothing against the beer or the service (both good). Unfortunately, we couldn't sit outside because of the stench of the nearby garbage facility. Inside was really loud and difficult to hear anyone. What a fun brewery tour even for a person who does not drink beer !! When we walked in we were surprised how small the taproom is, but it gives the feeling of walking into a part of history . Our tour guide was Chris and he was probably one of the best tour guides we have ever had, honest, fun and a nice guy. The tour includes 3 beer tastings and a Goose Island glass. Chris has worked at Goose Island for 8 years and shared many stories . After the tour we had some more beers , ( I had a cider) , and all the bartenders knew their stuff and were so helpful. During my recent trip to Chicago, I wanted to visit a brewery so we stopped by Goose Island Tap Room. It wasn't very busy when we arrived (on a Thursday around 4pm), but when we headed out an hour later, the happy hour crowd was starting to fill up the place. It's been awhile since I've had a beer from Goose Island. I was indecisive (as usual) on what I wanted, but the bartender who helped us was so nice and patient while we sampled a few beers. I tried the Lulo Hippo Island Blonde Ale (4.9% ABV), Sunday Stroll Lager (5.5% ABV), and the Rum Barrel Aged Quad (13.2% ABV). I ended up ordering a half pint of the Sunday Stroll. Most of the half pints are $5-6 while full pints are $7-8. The Sunday Stroll had a nice flavor and wasn't overly filling since I only ordered a half pint. They sell snacks at this location, however the full menu is offered at the Brewhouse location. The Tap Room offers snacks like cheese flights, pretzels, steak chips, and meat flights. According to the website, they allow guests to bring in outside food. You can order beer to go online. The parking situation is street parking only, but apparently there's plenty of it according to the site. The tap room has a good amount of tables as well as a small outdoor seating area on the sidewalk in front of the entrance. They do not take reservations for the tap room but you can schedule a tour for $15 (offered on Saturdays and Sundays only). They also have events like trivia night. I really enjoyed Goose Island and wish we could have stayed longer! read more

We did the tour with Andrew, and he was wonderful. For $15 each we received an hour long tour, 3 beers (Ale, IPA and Bourbon County) and a pub glass. I highly recommend. The tour requires closed toed shoes (which my wife did not have) but we were offered rain boots to satisfy the requirement. read more

I have lived in Bordeaux, France , and I'm spoiled when it comes to sampling fine spirits. However, Goose Island offers a journey to another world! I recommend making this your journey for an evening. You will sample beers that are made like that of the finest champagne, cognacs, or port wine. It made me feel like I've never had real beer before. The beer is expensive but it is worth it. Have a budget of $100-$200 per person and you'll be happy. They have snack trays that a delicious. (Do not come here if you're expecting Miller Light and baseball). I am planning to bring friends over for a weekend in Chicago. The beer is also a great gift. I just absolutely love this place. Goose Island is an iconic brewery in Chicago for good reason. I've done the tour and it's awesome hearing about the classics like Bourbon County and Honker's. Nowhere can beat this bar staff though! Incredibly friendly, welcoming, and knows their stuff. They've got a screen for the current sports game on. Just know there's not much food outside of pretzels, meat/cheese flights, and chips and dip. Non-beer options are typically kombucha or a craft soda, but pivoting to their wild ales can be more similar to a wine. Such a fun place and just one of my favorites. read more

Beer in Chicago includes many popular craft breweries, but none are close to the popularity as this brewery. Goose Island is debatable now that it's owned by a big ass corporation. It may no longer be a strictly craft brewery but it still has much of the same great taste. Fun to have beer or take a tour, if they offer any. The Tap Room has pretty much only beer, but there's a lot and there's some exclusives you can only get here. A benefit of coming here is you can get lots of harder to find beers. It has a ton on tap, and some of these you can only get here. The prices aren't as bad as they could be, especially for a popular beer like this. It's about $7 a pint. They have much of the stuff you can find in stores. Among the exclusives is the Green Line Pale Ale. This is a nice lighter beer with slight hoppiness and smooth. It's about $4 for pretzels. These are just normal hard pretzels so the food isn't anything special. For better food options go to the Brewhouse. It has more exclusive beers and real food. This location is nice for popping in a few minutes or a tour. read more
