House bread selection is a selling point. We avoided eating here for awhile since it's next to this incredibly offensive flag-covered corner but I can ignore that for some (unrelated) tasty eats. Seems they only had one waitress working our side of the room. The coffee service was quick. Ordered the cinnamon roll everyone raves about. Got the "boy" version with nuts. We ordered the #2 combo and the breakfast sandwich. Like others have said, the food was not only super good but the portions are huge. Horrible service who knows maybe because we are Hispanic . Several families walked in and were attended to while we sat there until I said - do you think we can place an order????? Never again!!... Stopped at Hazel's , on Sunday, November 10th on our way home from Lake Geneva. So glad we did!! It's good, it's very good, it's very very good!! It's a cute little place, a little tight, but comfortably cozy. Our server, Olga is the epitome of hospitality! So pleasant, with an awesome smile and personality. We had the breakfast burrito, which is as big as my head, and the combo #2, with sausage and pancakes. We also got a cinnamon roll and "Twix " cookie to go. EVERYTHING was delicious. Hazel's is a hidden gem! You're not going there for the ambience, remember, it's a diner so it's pretty basic. You're going to this restaurant for their good food and service. Olga was our server and was delightful. She took great care of us. First, the fresh baked cinnamon rolls are insanely delicious and huge!! We got the girl roll because I don't eat nuts. The boy cinnamon roll comes with pecans (nuts, get it?) We ate about 1/4 of the big girl and brought the rest home. The cinnamon roll was ooey gooey goodness, packed with cinnamon, and that icing was to die for. I had two eggs over easy with bacon, potatoes and toast. My husband had the corned beef hash with the brisket made in house. Again, huge portions. Everything was delish! All the bread offered on the menu is made in house as well as the jams, and the slice of white toast I had was amazing. On the way out, we grabbed a loaf of just-baked bread for us because just one slice at breakfast was not going to be good enough for us. We also grabbed a boy cinnamon roll for my 94yo mom because she loves cinnamon rolls and I knew she never had one like this. All the years I've driven through Hebron on the way to Lake Geneva, and never stopped or noticed Hazel's. Now it's on my radar, and I'll definitely be going back for the bakery and the good food. They have a high tea on Thursdays. I would highly recommend it. There were six of us. We each had our own 3 tier tray of tea sandwiches and scones. Everything was so fresh and delicious. My absolute favorite breakfast, blueberry lemon curd pancakes. Mother's day, ordered to go, drove 20 minutes one way. I asked the girl who brought me my order of there was extra lemon curd (I had ordered that, I order that everytime I go) she even went back into the kitchen and checked, she told me there was. Probably my fault for not triple checking, but didnt think I had to. Got home and I had no lemon curd at all, not to mention the extra I had ordered. I called the first time and told them my story, they said they were sorry. Then my husband told me he would drove back down to get it for me if they could have it ready. So, I called and politely asked if they could have it ready. They told me that I would have to pay for it!! Then they read off my bill, they had written my order down wrong and told me if i wanted it I would have to pay for it, what?!?! A friend recommended this place as a good breakfast joint in the area so we took him at his word. Overall, he was right! I had the Bananas Foster French Toast and it was everything I had hoped and dreamed it would be; banana bread turned into French Toast with a glorious caramel sauce and bits of banana floating in the sauce. It is such a large portion that I will have leftover breakfast for a couple days; the side of bacon I ordered came chewy, just as a I ordered it. My love had the Plain Jane French Toast and it was as advertised, definitely emphasis on the "plain," really devoid of flavor. Our waitress, Shandra (sp?), was really friendly and was definitely working hard to get everyone's orders. Unfortunately the timing with our order (and at least one other table during our visit) was off, with two of the three of us getting our order and the third arriving several minutes later. A gem of a place. Was on a bike ride with some friends and stopped there for lunch. Food is fresh, fresh, fresh. They make pretty much everything in-house. The service is fantastic, the baked goods are incredible. Cinnamon rolls are freshly baked and as big as your head - four of us split one and each had plenty me in not sure I could bear driving through Hebron and not stopping for a bite to eat it picking something up to take home.
