My wife and I generally like going to Hazelwood on occasion. If you have an opportunity for their tater tots as a side, definitely go that way (they appear to be homemade!) We were very surprised on our latest visit on what might be viewed as a trivial thing. We both got a cocktail before dinner. I had an Old Fashioned and she had a Negroni. They both came with large ice cubes. (No surprise there.) What WAS the surprise was that the bill came with a $1 upcharge for the large cube in the Negroni, BUT NOT THE OLD FASHIONED! We've never seen an upcharge for a large ice cube! Ever! My wife emailed the GM after the fact, and the manager explained that the Old Fashioned is traditionally served with a large ice cube. The server should have asked my wife if she wanted a large ice cube with her Negroni. Hazelwood isn't a particularly cheap outing. They do appear to be nickel-and-diming in this situation. read more

Hazelwood Food + Drink absolutely nailed the food. Everything we ordered was excellent, flavorful, well prepared, and honestly one of the better meals I've had in a while. The atmosphere was also great and made for a really enjoyable evening. The only reason I can't give 5 stars was the service. We barely saw our actual server beyond taking our order and bringing the check. At one point we had to ask three different employees just to get water, and it finally arrived after we had already finished our appetizers. Everyone was polite, but the attentiveness just was not there. That said, the food was good enough that I'd still come back and give them another shot, because the kitchen is clearly doing something right. read more

This rating is for their brunch. I'd love to come back for dinner and try some menu items. Came on a Saturday and made reservations. It started getting busy around 10:30-11:00 on a Saturday. Prices are average, service is great. My friends loved their meal, I liked mine. I ordered the prime rib hash and it had great chunks of beef and two perfectly poached eggs. However I felt that it was a little too greasy for me. Thank goodness that I asked for the hollandaise sauce on the side, otherwise with the grease, it would have been way too rich. Some parts of the beef were chewy and some gristle. One friend ordered the strawberry French toast and it was HUGE! They were generous with the whipped cream too. Another friend ordered the roasted vegetable omelette that came with a side of hash browns and toast. They enjoyed it but it was on the smaller size. It's a large restaurant with plenty bar seating and clean restrooms. There's a shared small parking lot with the hotel but there's also a parking ramp too. I've been to Hazelwood Food and Drink a couple of times, so I already knew the vibe was solid, but this last visit? Yeah... it did what it needed to do. Let's talk about that cranberry walnut salad because WOW. I switched out the blue cheese for feta (because... priorities), added blackened salmon, and baby--when I tell you that combination was working. The sweetness from the cranberries, the crunch from the walnuts, the saltiness from the feta, and that perfectly seasoned salmon on top? Heavenly is not an overstatement. It was giving "I made the right life decisions today." Hazelwood in general just knows how to execute. The space is always clean, a little upscale but still comfortable, and it's one of those places you can pull up to for a casual lunch or a dressed-up dinner and not feel out of place either way. Service has been consistently good every time I've gone--attentive without hovering. If I had to put my Yelp Elite hat on for a second, I will say this: it can get busy, and when it does, the energy shifts from chill to a little more lively than I personally prefer. Stopped here for HH w/ no reservation. Was told upfront that they could seat us (party of 2) but would need the table back at 5. Gave us almost an hour to dine. They have a few HH specials but I always hear good things about the food. I did stick to appetizers, I got the sticky chicken skewers and two chips, two dips. The sticky chicken was good, the chips and dips were simple but good. My friend got the truffle fries which were good. I also tried the blueberry lemon drop martini, which was good. Hazelwood always has pretty solid food. Today we had a reservation at 1 pm and our table wasn't ready till about 1:20 pm, which I did expect to an extent as it was busy, but when you have a reservation you seem like you may avoid having to wait that long. (We were offered a dessert for the wait but it was brunch and we didn't want dessert after) Another unfortunate thing that happened is that everyone got their food besides one person at their table and it came about 5-10 min later which seemed rude to do. I'd rather we all get our food at the same time as it felt like they forgot about someone at our table. The breakfast burrito was okay, but not something I'd be dying to go back for. The eggs Benedict were solid, and the side of Gouda hash browns was amazing. The French toast was huge, the outside was crispy and the inside was soft. Also pretty solid. Decided to grab dinner Thursday evening 12/11/25 close to 5pm after a visit to MOA. We approached the hostess desk to request party of 2. No we didn't have a reservation. One of the employees informed us that "they would need the table in an hour and twenty minutes for a reservation."Really, that's how you want to welcome someone in. Very disappointed! Not a bad place. My coworker suggested it so I tagged along. I'm not one to spend money and personally it's a bit too expensive for me but they had a happy hour menu so I was able to afford it. I ordered their cheese pizza (only $9) from the happy hour menu. I didn't think it would be that big but umm, I was definitely wrong. It was a very nice sized personal pizza. It was a thin crust and I actually ate the entire thing. But in my defense, I only ate a gutted out bagel and some snacks that day so I was HUNGRY. And it was thin crust so......but it was GOOD!! Lots of flavor. And that cheese.....best part! Our server was AMAZING! We had Gabby. Such a sweet person and she came to our table multiple times to make sure we were good. She refilled my water without me even asking. She was on her game! My bill was only $9.81 and usually I think that would be under a $2 tip but I left a $5 which is half my bill cause she was so good. My friend even let a manager know cause she definitely deserves praise. Even tho it's a bit expensive for me I think I would put some money to the side and go back if I'm ever in Minneapolis again. Hazelwood never disappoints! This place is consistently one of my favorites, but definitely make a reservation if you can. With all the nearby hotels, it's busy every night of the week (a good sign!). I went with a group of nine and we ordered a variety of dishes to share. My personal favorite (pictured) was the Angel Hair Shrimp & Scallop Pasta -- perfectly cooked shrimp and scallops in a light, flavorful sauce with broccoli. The portion was generous, and I even had enough left over for lunch the next day. We started with the spinach dip and calamari, both incredible. Honestly, Hazelwood has my favorite calamari in Minnesota. If you're looking for comfort food, the chicken pot pie and meatloaf are also must-tries. Service was top-notch: attentive, friendly, and fast. Plates were cleared promptly, waters stayed full, and the staff made our large group feel well taken care of. 10/10 -- I'll definitely be back! read more

This was a recommendation from the front desk staff at our hotel and it did not disappoint! The restaurant was lively and modern looking, with lots of people talking and obviously enjoying their food. We made a reservation and were seated immediately. Our server Kelsey provided plenty of recommendations on the menu. My mom and I are both decided on the burgers. I got the brie blackberry burger and she got the wild mushroom burger. She asked for her burger to be cooked well done, because she's a little bit weird like that. Our burgers looked fantastic when they came out. Mine was oozing with cheese, curds! Honestly, it tasted as good as it looked. The brie cheese curds, jam, and candied bacon were pretty amazing together. Unfortunately, my mom's burger was not cooked to well done (honestly, I think I got hers) and the mushrooms were so cold the cheese didn't melt. To everyone's credit, the restaurant took care of this immediately. Kelsey went back to the kitchen and got them started on another burger for her, and a manager came over to offer my mom a soup or salad while she waited. The manager (whose name I unfortunately did not get) suggested the lobster bisque, which was ridiculously good. If you like lobster bisque, this is the thing to get! By the time my mom had finished her soup and munched on some of her fries (considerately left at the table), remade food had appeared. Burger v2.0 was cooked to her satisfaction and came with a fresh batch of fries. The only problem was that the mushrooms were still kind of cold, so that the Gruyère cheese didn't really melt. But the flavors were really good - the mushrooms were delicious with the cheese and burger, and my mom was pretty happy. The awesome manager also comped my mom's food, which was super nice. Sometimes the most important thing is not to have everything perfect, but to react promptly when there's an issue. We were so impressed with the service and if we are ever again in Minneapolis, we will definitely stop in. Kudos to Kelsey and her excellent manager! read more

Our server was pleasant and attentive, and everything moved along quickly. The restaurant has a nice vibe, kind of a contemporary tavern type of feel. There were plenty of televisions around, playing multiple games. We each had a cocktail, which were yummy and I feel they were reasonably priced. For dinner, we shared both the Brie Cheese curds and the Pepperoni, Bacon and Goat Cheese Pizza. The Pizza overall was good. They appear to have a wood fired pizza over on the premises. The flavor combination was very well balanced. The Brie Cheese curds were a completely different story. More than 75% of them were empty shells of fried dough. Were they in the fryer too long? Or is that just the way they are? I don't know; however, I should have said something. That is my fault for not saying anything. Visited this place while visiting Minneapolis and so glad I did. The place had very good flavor on everything we had. I had the Brussels sprouts and they had a good flavor along with the cheese curds. For my entree I had the walleye and it was delicious and so well cooked and tender. First time trying walleye and it was a great eating fish. The service was good and never had any issues with the service. Everything went well here. If you're on business or a first timer to the Twin Cities, this is a great place to enjoy good food and drinks! It's outside the busy MOA but surrounded by hotels so great for out-of-towners! We somewhat randomly chose to visit Hazelwood while in the area for just one night. Great choice! The place was packed and lively with music and busy but still with very attentive service. We sat at the bar which is also fun with all the activity around you. The brussels starter was outstanding - and I try Brussels everywhere I go so that says something! The walleye fish was fried just right with a seasoned but light batter. The French fries were nothing special, a bit surprising for this place. The salmon bowl was somewhat bland except for the dressing, wholesome for sure but perhaps the salmon could be more flavorful. I had a generally positive lunchtime experience at Hazelwood while visiting Bloomington for a work trip. The restaurant had an expansive dining area with a modern/contemporary feel. We were quickly greeted and seated and later promptly attended to by a friendly server. It was refreshing to have a menu with healthier options! The Twin City area is often focused on fried meat and cheese foods, which I enjoy but this lunch option was a good place to mix it up with some healthier options! I ordered the rotisserie chicken sandwich ($17.95) which was marked a flagship item on the menu. I found it to be a decent sandwich (slightly overpriced for the area and portion) but not a stand out. Nevertheless- great flavor, tenderness, and moisture of the chicken. The sandwich comes with a cup of jus to dip your sandwich, and I thought the flavor of the jus was lacking and did little to elevate the sandwich. Service was good but a person at our table did receive the wrong order as the server attempted (and failed) to memorize our orders. There's a good variety of choices on the menu, including some vegetarian options. An Old Fashioned was one of the better renditions I've had, made with Four Roses Bourbon and Chocolate Bitters. There are a dozen cocktail choices, half a dozen mocktails, and a good selection of wines by the glass. One complaint, noise levels are extremely high; we were all shouting to each other throughout dinner and often having to ask someone to repeat what they said. Yes, it was that loud.
