I'll try to keep this short and to the point. My 5-6 year old iMac wouldn't let me upgrade operating systems and after spending a few hours on the phone with Apple Help we finally figured out my hard drive was going bad. Everything still worked fine, but kept getting "back up your entire system and replace hard drive". Honestly I was looking at just buying a new iMac and starting from scratch. After researching what I would want, it was kind of costly so I googled "Best Mac repair in Huntington Beach". HB Computers was one of the top that came up. I read some of the recent reviews which were very good. I stopped by HB Computers to just ask a couple of questions and get an idea on what the cost would be. I was welcomed right away by Lexie who was doing an internship for school and had just started working there, she was very nice. I asked a couple of questions then a gentleman came out from the back and introduced himself as Amir. He was extremely nice and listened to what was going on with the computer. He gave me a couple of options (e.g., replace hard drive or replace and go with solid state). After he explained that the solid state drive (SSD) is what the new Macs come with and it would be MUCH faster I decided to go with that for a little more money, still a very fair price. FAST is good. Amir gave me a day that it would be ready and sure enough this morning he called and said it was ready for pickup. If you're reading this, you probably know how it feels to be without your computer for a few days, and for me I had just started a photography class so didn't have access to my photos or editing software. Well I picked it up an hour or so ago, plugged it in and bingo......the latest Mac software was on there so I'm trying to get used to that. But I've got Pandora going with Photoshop, email and a couple of other systems. Everything seems to be running fine and I'm back in business. Thanks to Amir and his team, they fixed me up and I didn't have to spend a fortune. I appreciate their professionalism and keeping their promise. That goes a long ways these days. Very nice people. I had one broken key on my laptop keyboard and they replaced it for free. I called around, specifically getting a price quote to replace one key from another local place and was quoted $45 dollars! Rip off. I had a very good experience with HB Computers. I had a liquid spill on my laptop's keyboard and a few keys wouldn't work. Since I need my laptop for my job, this was a big problem, and I didn't have time to fix it myself. Amir and his staff were very courteous the entire time. He said he'd contact me within 24-48 hours with a diagnosis, and he contacted me the next day as promised. He had to order an OEM part from the manufacturer and said it would be 5-7 business days for delivery but he'd have it ready that same day it arrived. However, it was ready on the 3rd business day, ahead of schedule. His price was very reasonable. I would recommend this place and I'll come back myself if I ever need repairs again. read more

I recently started to have trouble with my 4 year old desktop computer and went into HB Computers based on reviews from Yelp and Angie's List. I met with Amir and spoke with him regarding my current configuration and what I was looking for. He was very professional, and took the time to explain what he was going to build for me. Amir made a point to get my machine built as soon as possible, so I could get back up and running. There was always open communication. Its been about a month, and my machine is running great. Do you wonder how I found the most loyal and very trustworthy computer repair store? It all started when i had a problem with my Macbook Air. I took it to the Geek Squad and they did a very expensive job and let me tell you they took forever!!! My computer later on started freezing up on me and having problems but I wasn't planning on return to Geek Squad. So you looked up best computer repair in oc and bam i see HB Computers. I decide to go in as soon as possible, as I walked in i was greeted with a huge smile from a very sweet girl working at thw front desk. Then Amir(manager) came to the counter, they made me feel at home answered all my questions and assured me if they could not fix my MacBook i would not be charged for anything!! Wow! this made me feel like they really wanted to help me instead of just being in it for the money. Took my computer in as it was not working. HB Computer said they had retrieved my data but when I got it home after paying $180, only 1/4th of the files had been retrieved. I called 8 other computer repair shops that were closer to me asking if they had screws for an M.2 SSD drive. Surprisingly, not a single one had them - could have been they were unwilling to make such a small transaction or they don't keep parts around that they use regularly (I've had shops take a really long time to fix my other computers due to ordering parts). I also checked Fry's and Home Depot. HB said I could come to their store. When I got there, even though I called much earlier in the day, they remembered my request. They seem like they put customer service as a top priority and everyone appears to enjoy working there. They actually gave me 3 screws of varying lengths in case a couple didn't work. I have a very old (2004) PC running XP that I use as a media server for my entertainment system. It's almost all original equipment and I finally started getting the blue screen of death. I thought for sure the motherboard finally fried out. I sent an email to HB Computers explaining the situation. I got a phone call from Amir the same day telling me to bring it in and they'll look at it. Their diagnostic fee was $50, which seems very reasonable, especially since they will apply that amount to any additional work performed. Diagnosis took about 2 business days. The problem was the hard disk failed. They weren't able to recover any of the data, which was ok with me. The fix was to replace the hard drive (2x the size of the original) and reload Windows XP. I was very pleased that they could put XP back on there as it's very stable and works well for a media server. Once I gave them the ok to replace the hard drive, it was fixed within 1 day. I was very happy to see they took the time to load up some basic programs (Firefox, VLC media player, iTunes, anti-virus, etc.). However, I was really surprised to see they fixed a problem I hadn't even mentioned. I had replaced the video card a few years ago and didn't have the technical expertise to hook up the sound for the HDMI port. Amir and his team noticed this, and hooked up the sound for me. Great service and pricing! I'd never been to a non-Apple store for hardware issues, but based on the great reviews, I decided to give this place a shot. Also, I got a really good price quote from Amir before going in. I think Amir had forgotten about the quote, so a week later he mentioned that the repair process was a lot more difficult and required a torx security tool that he didn't have (well he does now), and charged a higher price. I am 100% pleased and impressed by the expertise of Amir and his crew at HB Computers. Although I've had various PCs over the years, I never really knew how to maintain them and had frequent service calls for things that computer literate people could have taken care of. PCs intimidate me. On the advice of a friend I decided to buy an iMac, but I had no idea how to set it up. I found HB Computers by studying several Yelp reviews and stopped at the shop to see if they would handle an in-home installation. The owner, Amir, introduced himself, was extremely reassuring and helpful and subsequently came to my home with his assistant, Kevin, to do the installation. I had purchased a Word program, which they installed and showed me how to access this as well as other features on the computer. In the process of getting to know the new computer I somehow managed to delete all of my emails. When I called AOL they first told me that this was impossible to do and then that they could not be retrieved. Amir spent considerable time conferencing with AOL until they finally retrieved the missing information from their server. He also put all of the information from the PC onto a flash-drive and then installed it on the IMac. I had asked Amir if he would update and troubleshot my huband's old PC. As mine was newer, he switched out my two year old PC with my husband's, switching his stored info and essentially giving him a like-new PC, monitor, etc. When the printer managed to die the day after the installation, he came out and hooked up a new one. I just can't say enough about their professionalism. Amir always came on time and called before coming. They keep the workspace clean, recycle any old equipment and do their work while being extremely friendly and helpful. I also found Amir's prices to be very fair.
