My friend and I recently stopped in after our morning hike to get some protein shakes. I've been coming here over the years and really wanted her to try it out. She ordered the mint ice cream protein shake and really enjoyed it. I tried it too, and it was really minty and sweet. I ordered the Reese's peanut butter shake and absolutely loved it. I also got a raspberry tea with my shake which was really refreshing. The shake itself is really chocolatey and has a great amount of peanut butter, which I personally think hides the protein flavor really well. They also have a white chocolate Reese's shake on their secret menu that tastes really good too. We almost ordered the energy balls while we were there, but decided to try them next time. Their birthday cake and pumpkin flavor looks really good. They also have a lot of places to sit and relax with some games. They're always fun to play while you drink your shake. Recently came here to grab a smoothie and dine in on my last day in the Phoenix area. Staff was absolutely friendly and we're kind enough to let me use the restroom there before ordering. It's mostly smoothies but they got small snacks and bowls you can have. I tried their smoothie that was loaded with protein in it which was phenomenal. The staff at HB welness are very nice and super attentive. I ordered an orea protein shake and unfortunately didn't like the taste. Even though I didn't like the taste that isn't gooing to stop me from coming back and trying another drink. The cake batter was a nice consistency and very sweet flavor. The orange Julius had a wonderful flavor, but you could feel the chalky texture to know that it was a protein smoothie. Hands down hb is the best healthy smoothie place in town. Every time I come back to Arizona I make a point to stop here once a day! All the employees are super friendly and the owner, Daniel, makes a point to remember everyone (much appreciated). Most of the smoothies are under 250 calories and have zero sugar!! I highly highly recommend the chocolate Elvis with extra sugar free chocolate syrup, as well as the birthday cake flavor with chocolate syrup and sprinkles. I can't quite pinpoint why, but for some reason HB wellness made a great impression on me. Could've been the creamy, delicious smoothie, or just the all around kind service I had when I went in. SHAKES : I love that they offer a wide variety of smoothies in tonnnnsss of different flavors. I ended up going with the chunky monkey (ask for GF if you want it). I love that they offer low calorie, low carb and sugar options that make "on the go" easy. It was a basic smoothie but it was reaallly good, very creamy, and hit the spot. It had all the flavor I could've asked for and actually kept me pretty full for a while. It was a solid 8.5/10! If it had some crumbles on the top or some kind of granola / chocolate / nutty topping it would've easily scored a 10/10!! TIPS & THINGS TO KNOW : Make sure to ask what the protein powder is that they use, and if you care, do a little search on the ingredient list. Just because it's plant based doesn't mean it's not full of fillers or hydrogenated oils. If you prefer gluten free, make sure to specifically ask for GF when ordering. Finally, the tea that is paired with the shakes have stevia -- just a tip to know if you are trying to avoid fake sugars or don't do well with stevia. Like I said In the beginning, the service was SO nice and helpful in ever way. They even let me sample a chunky monkey to see if that's what I wanted to order which I really appreciate as I am indecisive. I've been a loyal customer at HB Wellness for years and have always appreciated the quality of services and the dedication of the staff. However, I recently discovered something deeply concerning: it seems the owner has been withholding tips from their employees. Apparently all forms of tips were taken by the employer early into the business. A couple days ago it came to my attention that their employees "only get card tips 'sometimes'",and they don't get any cash tips (really disheartening when there's a full cash tip jar everyday).Unfortunately, it seems those cash tips and credit card tips are still being withheld from the employees who rightfully earned them. For clarity, the basic rule of tips, under federal and Arizona law, is that they belong to the employee, not the employer. Employers are not allowed to take or withhold tips left for their staff--it's illegal and unethical. Coming from a family of small business owners, I understand the challenges of running a business, but there's no excuse for treating employees unfairly, especially regarding money customers specifically leave for them. It's incredibly disheartening to see hardworking staff being taken advantage of, and it's made me reconsider supporting a business that doesn't value or respect its employees' rights. I truly hope management reflects on this, corrects their practices, and ensures their team is treated fairly. The employees--and the customers who support them--deserve better. read more
