We had HD Hookups install security cameras around the perimeter of our house a few years ago. Not only did they do a shocking job concealing the wires but their customer service was so poor that only after threatening to take them to Small Claims Court did we eventually see action. When asked how to view the cameras from our phones and computers we were told we would have to call someone else at the company since the technician could not assist us. We sent email after email with little or no response from them. I even asked Diego to come and remove the cameras and that we would pay HD Hookups for labor only but wanted a refund on the cost of the cameras. He responded by sending out a technician to try and rectify the issue and although the cameras were working, they were never installed correctly. We eventually gave up. We wrote off $2000+ and put it down to an awful experience. To cut a long story short - if you have a simple job like a TV to be mounted then HD Hookups may be able to assist you however I would definitely NEVER recommend them for any camera installation - EVER. read more

I HONESTLY do not know how they have so many 5 star reviews. Maybe I was just unlucky. I had purchased a Groupon to have HD Hookups come out to mount my TV on the wall. Simple enough, or so I thought. I called the main number of HD Hookups that was provided on my Groupon around 3 in the afternoon. A gentleman answered, very nice (forgot his name, but it wasn't Diego)... anyways, I was not expecting to have someone come out that day, it was already later in the afternoon so I was just expecting to make an appointment. The gentleman on the phone said he will take down my information and pass it off to a technician to call me back and set up a time. I thought it was a little odd that he wasn't able to note what I needed done and set something up with me at the time I was on the phone. But this wasn't what bothered me. After the gentleman took down my info, it was 2 days before someone called me! My phone rang for about 1sec, so I missed the call, but got a text directly after, from Diego. He said he got my information and can now set something up with me. texting back and forth on telling him what I need, sending pics of my wall, tv, and measurements (may I add that this was over the course of a couple days!!) I was eager to get someone out already. The fact that Diego would ask for pictures or information, etc. and I would respond within seconds and no response for a day on his end, really bothered me. Why does it take so long to make an appointment with these guys? If you're gonna text me rather than call at least get back to me in a timely manner! After telling him I can provide the mount I requested to set up a time once again for him to come out. He asked for my address, which I responded right away... and guess what? NO RESPONSE BACK OF COURSE. Diego once again failed to respond, but this time he didn't respond within a few hours or a day, he just never got back to me..... UHHHH ok guess you don't want my money? I was so over it that I called Groupon and explained what happened and how terrible my service was and they refunded my full amount paid, thank gosh. By the time Diego probably would have finally came out, my Groupon would have expired. To make a long story short it shouldn't take almost a week to set something up. I work as an office manager and I know good customer service, getting back to customers, and setting up appointments either at the moment you have them on the phone, or at least in a timely manner. Be aware. If you do decide to use HD Hookups demand an appointment over the phone, none of that back and forth texting, very unnecessary. read more

the only reason i selected this business to complete the installation of TV's in my house was because of the reviews on yelp. i did not have the same great experience that others did. the two gentleman that came to complete the work were not personable or helpful at all...period. i would never use this company again, maybe i just got the B team for my installation. all your service staff need to understand how to communicate with your customers. read more

My experience with HD Hookups was not very good. When they did the estimate I am sure they calculated how many hours the job should be, so when the technician showed up he was very rushed. The HDMI cable he brought was barely long enough to reach the receiver and he broke the tip trying to get the receiver back in. I noticed what happened and he swapped out the cable. The install was an over the fire place job and they had to run the cables through the outside of my town home. The power, data, video, and speaker cables were all run together and put inside of a cheap looking plastic conduit that was zip tied. Also they drilled a hole in the exterior wall that was not in the best place and just siliconed it up which looks like a mess on the stucco. The cable management to the back of the receiver looks like I let my 11 year old nephew ran the wires. The wires had to go through the back of an Ikea furniture and instead of drilling a 2 inch hole it looks like the tech stabbed a screwdriver through and banged out an opening. WIth all that being said when they left I was watching the TV on the wall. About a month later was going to hook up my Xbox to Receiver and the second I moved it out just a touch and started to twist the receiver the HDMI cable that was stretched to its limit broke at the tip. I think they should have used a longer cable that had a little slack at the end. Also, it is impossible to know what cable goes where because of the sloppy wiring. I only hired someone to do the install cause I wanted it to have a professional finished look. In the end it was not done any better than if I would have done it my self. Now I will hire a new contractor to come in and fix the mess: run 2 longer HDMI cables, Put exterior wires in conduit that is better for outdoors and organize and label all of the cables. Oh and last but not least they had one tech to hang my 55 inch TV and when he left there were finger prints all over the screen. So I had to head out to buy some cleaner for that also. Update 9/14/2012 They came out and fixed the cable at no cost and they clean up the wires a bit. read more

I had a system set up in April, and it doesn't work correctly. The sound cuts in and out on HD channels. I have called numerous times, and the one time I spoke to Diego, he simply said to reset my cable box. I did, but the problem persists. Now they aren't returning my calls at all. They did a great job on my parent's house, I was the one that did the hiring since they were too old to know what the deal was. You know how old people don't even know how to use remotes and stuff. Well my parents are like that. They go out and actually purchase older cell phones when their contracts are over and their eligible for a smart phone. Well my parents are so old school that they don't know how to use a smart phone or the first thing about them. Every year I get to use their phone upgrades so I did this for them as a present. Cell phones are real expensive so I had to give them something back in return for all those upgrades i've been getting. Well one day we were in the Sears and my dad mentioned to me how he wanted a new tube to watch football and baseball. The man loves to watch sports and I don't blame him because that runs through our family line. Everyone in my family played sports when they were young, including me. Well to cut to the chase, they came out and they conquered. Had my dad drop his jaws when he saw it hung up in the middle of the living room smack dead center above the mantel. When my mom came home to see my gift she literally almost came to tears because I rarely do nice things for my parents but this time I wanted to make a statement. Any how the reason why I gave hdhookups a 3 stars is because of the price. I used another company before and they were busy so I went with someone who was available right away. The other company charges alot less expensive and had better hardware. If it wasn't as a gift when they weren't home I would have used the other company because they were more professional. I ordered a new plasma through Amazon and saw that HD Hookups was one of the referred vendors for wall installations. I emailed through the site and coordinated a time for a Saturday installation. Brian showed up and quickly got to work. I really think he could do a wall installation with the wires hidden with his eyes closed. He knocked out the project much faster than I thought it would take and it looks great. I'm docking one star as they were running late from an earlier job but I had called for a status check about 30 minutes past when they were slated to arrive without a heads up call. Diego was quick to return my call and give me the update which I appreciated. Overall, I would definitely recommend them and I'm already looking at possibly having them hook up my smaller plasma in a different room. I called these guys last Friday to hang my 46" LED over the fireplace. We set an appointment for Monday, and not only were they early, they called to make sure it was ok that they were early. They explained what they were going to do, and updated me at several points throughout the project. I had them conceal the wires in the wall, which is no easy feat considering the age of the house and the way it was built (lots and lots of framing around the fireplace). Diego, and his associate Sean, were quiet, clean, and courteous. I think it ended up taking about 3 hours. The price was right on what he quoted on the phone, plus the cost of a new HDMI cables that were long enough to reach. (I thought I had 25' cables and realized when I opened the box they were only 12'. Ooops) The added cost for cables seemed to be competitive compared to what you'd pay for them at an electronics store, which I was surprised at. I'd definitely call these guys again if we decide to put a flat panel up in our bedroom someday. read more

Installer team members were experienced, efficient, extremely courteous, professional and creative problem solvers. (Went the "extra mile" several times! Even installed extra wires w/o charge which came in handy later to fix a major glitch.) 3. Fair pricing 4. Extremely happy with installation quality. CON: 1. Pre-installation: HDH and Diego are very busy and in high demand - timing of responses to questions was barely acceptable and not yet excellent (albeit quality of responses when made were excellent). 2. Post-installation glitch fixes: same problem - they're extremely busy. Response time and customer service suffered significantly. The neighbor's remote was on same frequency as the one HDH sold me, thereby causing channel changes etc. to occur spontaneously. Serious negotiations were required to obtain a fix in time for a long planned Thanksgiving weekend football party on originally promised terms. OVERALL When Diego gets his "growing business" problems resolved, I don't think any competitor will be better. Adding responsive customer service to HDH's and Diego's truly expert advice, professional installation team and fair pricing will make HDH hard to beat. read more

Diego was thorough in his explanation of what he'd be doing, was efficient in getting it done, made minimum mess while rewiring the walls and were in/out in what seemed to be no time.
