I have been going to this salon for about a year now. The service and service value are incredible…read more I have naturally thick and curly hair which limits the number of stylist that can do my hair. I have had my hair color treated and styled by 3 of the stylist there and have always received superior service and been extremely impressed by the results. It is so rare for me to have this experience in a single salon. I drive about 2.5 hours each way to have my hair done there.

The biggest reason we picked Salon Elan Vital was because of their trans- and queer-friendly reputation, which is really important for my trans partner, and trans friend. Everyone at the salon went so far above and beyond my expectations on that front. All of the stylists were incredibly supportive and worked hard to give us all the gender-affirming treatment we needed. Nahrein did the manicures, my eyebrow threading, and was extremely personable and willing to work with me as I figured out which color and shade of cute nail polish to get to complement my friends'. Mary did the hydrofacials and my back facial, and talking to her about her work on promoting diversity and inclusion within the salon was really reassuring to me about promoting those values in my own life. Jill did the haircuts, blowouts, and protein treatments, and shared a ton of knowledge about how to better take care of and style my hair, along with product recommendations for how to maintain that style between visits. Special shoutout to August for not only getting all the scheduling together for the stylists in advance, but also for working with each of us to make our experiences as stress-free as possible, from providing lunch recommendations to grabbing us herbal teas & coffee, so that my partner and friend could have a logistics-free, worry-free day at the salon. Overall, we all had exactly the experiences we needed to feel our absolute best about ourselves. We're already making plans to visit again soon!

I heard of Nahrein from word of mouth, my friend set up my first appointment for hair laser removal…read moreand I instantly felt at ease with nahrein, first of all the service was quick and not too painful (I would suggest to take to Tylenol or Advil before the procedure, to minimize the discomfort of the laser) salon offers other services and AVeDa Products but I come to see Nahrein primarily for hair laser removal and eyebrow threading because I love her, I could write a book but I'm truly happy with the service and the reasonable prices. My underarms, bikini area and face are smooth, clear and most importantly hairless. No more waxing for me. The first time I went to her for my eyebrows, she did a great job and gave them a nice shape. The second time I went however she was on the phone the entire time and totally left sparse hairs and gave my eyebrows absolutely no shape. It was a very sloppy job and I know it had to do because she was "multi-tasking." I feel it was very unprofessional and even though she is nice, it was a turn-off to see her more focused on her phone call than doing the job she is there to do.

I called the day before to set up an appointment for the next day, came 10 minutes early, and was seated immediately. She did a great job - I feel like it wasn't as painful as it usually is at other places, and she even explained to me how she determined the shape of my brows. Would recommend, though it is a bit pricey.

My hair is now glossy, lightweight, and feels very healthy. She thinned my hair out, curled and waved it. ROMELIA HAS ZERO ACCOUNTABILITY, FRIED MY HAIR AND IT IS FALLING OUT IN CHUNKS!! PLEASE DO NOT GO…read moreHERE IF YOU VALUE YOUR HAIR AND SANITY!! :( Romelia made my very healthy, long hair fall out in CHUNKS after overprocessing my hair. She has taken zero accountability or action to resolve this. Even though she fried my hair, she will not refund as she says "a service was provided." Romelia is the most unprofessional person I have ever worked with and should not be allowed to be in business. Romelia disappeared and left me in the chair for over an hour with bleach on my hair while she did laundry/other things. My hair is absolutely fried, I had bleach spots that did not blend, the hair all around my face completely broke off, which will take YEARS to grow back and I was charged for a bayalage, even though she only did a partial highlight. And the worst part is that I reached out to her in an extremely kind manner to resolve this multiple times and she has taken zero accountability for her mistakes. In fact, she read my message I wrote in tears and chose not to respond for 4 days (although she had time to continue posting on instagram) which is extremely unprofessional. I went into the salon with inspiration photos but also seeking Romelia's advice because I told her I wanted to go blonde but my most important goal was to maintain the integrity of my hair. She told me she could do what I asked without a problem or damage. I left with yellow hair, bleach spots throughout and my hair looked like a skunk in a ponytail by how streaky she left it. It was not blended at all and within 2 days, all the hair around my face began breaking off. I messaged her with photos and she asked me to come back in to fix it. I asked her if we could do a root melt to blend my base color into the highlights and tone my hair to fix the brassy blonde. She told me the only two toners in the industry that were available were warm and ash. I know that color is a wide spectrum and that this was not true. I told her I didn't want to be grey and that is exactly how she toned my hair anyways. At the end, I told her I no longer felt blonde and wasn't sure I would get used to it. She told me that she would not charge me and then asked if I wanted a few waves in my hair, I told her yes if she had time and then she proceeded to charge me $50 styling for waves that took her 2 mins and fell out within an hour. A true professional can admit their wrongs and also admit when they don't know how to fix their mistakes (therefore referring you to someone else). I left with grey hair, more bleach spots and my hair falling out into even further chunks. I had to get bangs today by another stylist just to try to hide the damage because my hair is 3 inches long in the front and along the sides now. I have huge holes in my hair (that goes down to my mid back) that I will now need extensions to fill in for the next several years while it grows back. Every stylist in the salon that fixed my hair was shocked at the amount of overprocessing and breakage I had. PLEASE learn from my mistake and do not go here if you value your hair/sanity. These people are crooks and have no idea what they're doing!! Photos posted are of the breakage/bleach spots after the first session and continued breakage after the second. PLEASE AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!!

The Kid was interested in getting a scorpion henna with Polynesian tribal flair (due to the deep African history of the scorpion, and it's his zodiac). Thankfully, she was honest and said she's not able to do Polynesian scorpion design, but she did EXCELLENT with the other tribal one we showed her. He is so happy with the end result!! I got henna next and she did a good rendition of the picture I showed her. Both of us was done quickly, with what seemed and smelt like a quality paste all for a reasonable price. I'm excited to see how long the stain lasts!!
