Mimi's is now my solid favorite for haircuts, excelling in cut, price, and time. The layering work is some of the best I've found. I especially love that you can opt for a dry cut, which I prefer since I have cowlicks that cause my hair to sit differently dry than wet. A dry cut better reflects how my hair will look day to day, dried with my consumer hairdryer and my selected part. Very great bonus that it also means I can be in and out in 15-20 min. I've been going to Mimi's since before she opened up her own spot and used to work in a barbershop in Uptown area. I like Mimi a ton because at this point she knows the cut I want and it's always a super efficient process. She's also really good at styling after the cut so I definitely appreciate that as well. Her pricing is pretty reasonable ($18 for a men's cut) and she is pretty accommodating on time. Parking in the back so that has also never been an issue. Vibe is a pretty casual spot. Usually some TV playing, but otherwise it's pretty chill. She offers a few other services like nails and some more intensive women's hair styling that I haven't done, but my sister in law is pretty loyal to. Definitely would recommend her. Mimi is hands down the best beautician I've had and one of the sweetest people I've ever met. She is incredible at creating full and natural looking eyelash extensions (see picture), she tints and waxes my eyebrows perfectly, and her husband gives manicures that last forever (see picture)! Mimi also cuts my hair and I get compliments all the time on my haircuts. She's an expert at all things beauty and I have grown to put all of my trust in her. Mimi is incredibly good at everything she does and is also extremely caring. Mimi is such a caring, professional, and talented hairstylist. After getting a less than stellar haircut at another salon, I was relieved to have found Mimi on Yelp. She used to work at a hair salon in Argyle where I used to get a haircut so I was excited to hear that she opened up her own beauty salon. I was so disappointed with the other salon where I received my first haircut. The hair stylist didn't listen to what I wanted and when I asked him to fix it, he still didn't fix it. I was upset that the other salon didn't listen to the customer. I was relieved to find Mimi because she used to work at the salon where I got my first haircut and it hasn't been the same at the other salon. I messaged her on Yelp and she was quick to respond. I explained to her what happened at the other salon and she was willing to help fix my haircut and I was able to make an appointment with her for the next day. My hair is thick, frizzy Asian hair so I'm picky with who I choose to cut my hair. I showed her pictures and explained to her how I wanted my haircut to be done. She did amazing and I couldn't stop smiling while she was cutting my hair. I asked for an angled lob and she cut and styled it exactly the way I wanted. She said the other salon used shears to thin out my hair which made it choppy and uneven so she cut it evenly, added layers, and made my hair look so much better. I was so happy that she fixed my boring haircut from the other salon into a chic haircut that made me confident :) Prices are reasonable for $25 haircuts for women. Other services offered were mani and pedis, lash extensions, hair perms, and makeup. Her staff was so friendly and they offered small water bottles to drink. Update: Worst Nightmare! Don't do cluster "eyelash extensions." I went for a mani, Pedi on Sunday because I had my wedding anniversary dinner that night. Everything was going well until I decide to add some extra to look beautiful that night. I asked Mimi about the clusters because I just wanted something for that night and yes it was my fault not being aware or do a research about this type of "extensions," but this is why I want to do this review. I want other people to know how bad it was and not to try it because it is "cheap" ($25). Mimi told me I could do the other single extensions, but those are $60, I said, I want something for tonight (so naive). Then she said ok, but sometimes people asked me to get them to remove them, because they are heavyweight, I thought, can't be that bad... Well, it was worse than that, the amount of glue Mimi use on my eyes it was insane! I could barely open my eyes. I look like someone punched me in the face. Those things for melted with your natural eyelashes on glue!! Those look super fake, like thick plastic stripes. I told Mimi how this could be something that people like to do? Do people request for this? This is awful! She keeps on saying: I told you! Ok, then my bad! But the nightmare was about to start. I asked her to remove them. I was already late to get ready for my date. She said, sit; I'll remove them. I closed my eyes, and she used a liquid that burns like hell!! I feel super anxious she didn't say anything else, and I was super stress and worried. I told her, this is burning my eyes, I need to was my face, she said, no you have to wait. At some point, I just felt sad, and I just wanted to leave, but I couldn't open my eyes, my husband was texting me, I couldn't answer... You can imagine. Nobody was talking to me at that point. I wait, and I said, please I need to wash my eyes, then another lady came, she helps a little bit. I finally went and washed my face. My eyes were more than irritated, my natural eyelashes we're lumped together with the rest of the glue. By that point, Mimi was already cutting somebody else's hair; she didn't care. She just told Tony to charge me for the removal of the lashes and the Pedi and the many that I ended up ruin trying go get ready for my date. We almost miss the reservation that my husband got for our dinner. It's Tuesday morning; I still have glue on my eyes. I am not as angry as I was. I want to help other people with this review. A gel mani and regular pedicure were well needed after several months of inferior do it yourself pampering attempts due to COVID. The nail tech took my temperature at the door and masks were required for the duration and I was told only one person was allowed in at a time.
