Anything I say about Nargis is simply an understatement! I have been getting my eyebrows and upper lip threaded and my bikini waxed for the last... well almost 8 years. No matter where I lived in Chicago, even when I moved to Pilsen, I still went to Nargis. I have now moved to Greece and Nargis was still one of my first stops when I visited Chicago a couple of weeks ago. Nargis knows what she's doing and she takes excellent care of her clients! Just an example of her work is the following observation: I could never imagine one could get complimented for their eyebrows as often as I have been, but it did happen and I know why: Nargis is amazing at what she does! Had to review this place because I love it so much!! I come here every two weeks for eyebrow and lip threading, and a Brazilian wax. The waxes aren't necessarily to "spa-standards," but they get the job done in under 10 minutes and are so fairly priced. The owner, Nargis, is so kind and friendly. Nargis is a QUEEN. My brows were looking real rough and patchy before I started going to Beauty Spot. I'm truly unsure how she fixes them to look not patchy, but she works her magic every time! Every single person at Northwestern with incredible brows says they go to Nargis. So if that's not a walking confirmation of how amazing this place is, I'm not sure what will be. Honestly, I was scared of threading bc I had never tried it before. But my brows have never looked so good. And the prices are so affordable and great too! I've been going to Beauty Spot for close to 3 years now and I don't trust anyone else besides Nargis to do my eyebrows (seriously, I moved from Evanston to Chicago and I still come to her for my brows). Not only are her prices incredibly reasonable ($8 for threading), but she does an amazing job every time. I have very full, bushy brows that I love but have no idea how to handle, and Nargis shaped them wonderfully. She is very efficient, but also at the same time, takes her time and is very precise. strictly a review for eyebrow threading only. I read the great reviews on yelp, then asked a friend if she knew any good threading places in Evanston. Beauty spot with Nargis were the first words out of her mouth! My friend has lived in Evanston for the past 7 years, and has tried a number of places, but she swears by Beauty Spot. So I dropped in without an appointment and sat for about 5-10 minutes while she finished some henna tattoos on a couple girls (which by the way looked beautiful). She then ushered me over to a chair, and got to work. Her phone did ring while she was threading my eyebrows, but she said one sentence and hung up. In addition, after she had finished one brow, she asked for my opinion before continuing. All in all my brows look awesome--not too thin, not too arched, they look clean and natural. There was hardly any redness or swelling. I totally recommend her! read more

"Don't go, don't go," my internal "bad nail place" shouted. But did I listen? No, no, no. And so I entered the den of Beauty Spot. I should've left when I tried to open the bottles of nail polish and they were so old they couldn't be opened. But no, I didn't. So there is no one to blame for this over-priced, mediocre manicure I'm now sporting. It took forever. And she'd stop, mid-manicure, and tell me a little bit about her life. That part was okay--I wasn't rushing to get anywhere, but I also didn't expect it to take as long as it did. The place was dirty. The brush broke about 4 times while doing my nails (it was the brush, not my nails). It was just kind of pitiful. What really pissed me off is when her co-worker, who had been threading eyebrows all the time I'd been there, finally sat next to her to do another person's manicure, they began this hard core sales pitch "oh, you should get your eyebrows done." "No thanks" I said. After the third time I finally replied "I wax and I don't like threading." Then there was pressure to get my hair cut, to get a pedicure, to get a henna tattoo. My nails were dried in the far too small, non-professional, no UV light dryer that they had. As soon as they resembled being dry, I bolted out of there. That's $20 and an hour and a half of my life I'll never get back. read more

The only reason I didn't give a full 5 stars is because the place isn't very visually pleasing. Nargis is a lovely woman, very nice and very friendly. The services were good and really affordable. I got a traditional brazilian wax and my eyebrows threaded for less than a braz cost at the old place I used to go to. While the decor is lacking, the service makes up for it. I plan on going back regularly. read more

First of all - I called in and they told to go ahead and come in right away - I stopped in and their eyebrow threading was fabulous. She did such a clean job and it was probably the best brow experience I've ever had. She also did my upper lip which was an okay experience. Then, I had a couple waxing jobs done on me - one of them, I was pretty satisfied with but the other one left me very disappointed. The Brazilians here aren't quite what a typical Brazilian is - it's just a really good regular bikini wax instead. So if you're looking for a Brazilian, I'd suggest somewhere else but if you're looking for a regular bikini wax, it's only $28 here! Despite the cheap price, I definately paid for what I got. However, since it was my first time there, they did give me a 10% discount. So, what I would have normally paid for one waxing job, I got three things done! Their prices are definitely cheap and affordable, too. They also do facials but I haven't tried one out yet. Oh, yeah - she gives out a student discount which is nice and makes things affordable. read more

Due to the fact that I've had a few horrible experiences with other salons, I hadn't had a waxing in years! I walked in to Beauty Spot looking like a grizzly bear, and a bit apprehensive b/c I'm extremely sensitive to pain. I was pleasantly surprised to have had both legs waxed from top to bottom, and, my bikini area......without pain.....and in less than 30 minutes! I based my decision on Yelp reviews of this salon, specifically that Nargis is wonderful. And, y'all did me right! Worst eyebrow threading treatment I have ever received. I asked for my eyebrows to be cleaned up a little and left with thin lines arched in a permanent expression of surprise. I wholly regret my decision to come here. Will take me a long time to grow my thicker eyebrows back. read more

Good for waxing bad for pedicure. The owner gave me the worst pedicure ever. Rushing and half doing the job the problem is it wasn't worth $30.00. She did amateur job, then had the nerve to tell me your nails took longer than usual. Yeah, right but you take my hard earned money for your tacky job. I would have rather gave my money to a homeless person than to spend it on this crap. I don't recommend!! read more

When I moved to Evanston from New Jersey one of the first things I did (no exaggeration) was look for a new eyebrow threading salon. I had a place in NJ that I loved so my new salon had big shoes to fill. I am happy to report that Nargis filled these shoes. She's quick, efficient, and precise. One of the things Indian girls look for when they are in the US, is a good place to get eyebrows done. And this place does not disappoint. It is cheap, only $8. She is very meticulous and will make sure both eyebrows look the same. She does a great job of cleaning up all stray hair. My eyebrows are very scant but she does a great job at making sure they look full and in good shape. I highly recommend her! read more

As someone with dark thick eyebrows I am incredibly particular about the way mine are done. Nargis does an absolutely phenomenal job for a very low price. I used to pay $40 at a boutique salon to get my eyebrows done and Nargis does a better job for $8. She is so kind and grateful for your business and you do not need an appointment and can pop in at your fancy. I have brought all my friends to Nargis and they are all so satisfied with the way their brows look and absolutely love her. This is my FAVORITE eyebrow place. I would never go anywhere else. I used to being true to Devon Avenue for my threading needs. This took a lot of time and results were inconsistent. Now that I've dubs this boutique in Evanston, I'll never go anywhere else. Nargis, the owner, is a perfectionist. She takes her time and focuses until the desired result is accomplished. Nargis is so multi talented that I drive 1.5 hours to see her. NO ONE and I mean NO ONE can do what Nargis does with my eyebrows and my hair. I have tried others to avoid the long drive and I am never as pleased. You owe it to yourself to visit her shop. She's a sweet lady and the best at what she does. I was referred to The Beauty Spot and I'm so happy that I was! After my first visit, Nargis knew exactly how I liked my brows. She's polite and efficient, I can be in and out in 5-7 minutes.
