The Kid and I love the ink!! We are in the process of hitting places in Rodgers Park that have henna artists that can pull off more than the beautiful traditional designs (cause he's a boy, and likes more masculine looking ink). The Kid was interested in getting a scorpion henna with Polynesian tribal flair (due to the deep African history of the scorpion, and it's his zodiac). Thankfully, she was honest and said she's not able to do Polynesian scorpion design, but she did EXCELLENT with the other tribal one we showed her. He is so happy with the end result!! I got henna next and she did a good rendition of the picture I showed her. Both of us was done quickly, with what seemed and smelt like a quality paste all for a reasonable price. I went to this salon for a wax. First of all, I thought it was kind of gross when I walked in, as doesn't feel like a clean place from the first impression. The woman used soft wax instead of hard wax for a bikini/partial Brazilian wax. She left tons of hair all over in places she was supposed to remove it. She removed hair in places. I asked her to leave it alone. I have to go have somebody else to clean up what she left behind because she did such a poor job. I will never recommend this place. One of my Pakistani friends was getting married and I needed some henna/mehndi. Problem was I couldn't get it done until the day of. I woke up early in order to do it. I came here after another salon I had planned to go told me to go to their sister salon because they could do better henna... problem was it wasn't open and wouldn't be for half an hour. I didn't have time for that. The wait here was minimal and when I was seen they did an amazingly beautiful job very quickly and for a great price. I was absolutely blown away and so happy with the designs the artist came up with. I will definitely come back here again if the need ever arises. read more

I've been going to Zara for over ten years, since I was a wee lass with hairy eyebrows in the eighth grade, when I begged my dad to let me go get eyebrows like all the other brown girls did. Eyebrows: She is efficient and quick. I always tell her what I want and she gets it all the time. She doesn't make your eyebrows super thin just to get the shape perfect. She'll let me know that I need to grow a certain area for an X amount of time to perfect the shape. It is $6 for eyebrows. I always call in advance for her, since she gets superrr busy Body Wax: I recently got married and she convinced me to do a full body wax with her. Now, I've gotten a body wax before, but not a FULL body wax, if you know what I mean. I got there around 5:30 and she finished at 6:25 pm. That was the fastest body wax I have ever gotten, and keep in mind, this was a FULL body wax this time. She made me feel comfortable and relaxed. I will definitely go to her for that again. Price: $100 for a full body wax, which is a good freakin deal. Henna: She also has been doing my henna on and off for Eid, whenever I felt like it. Since I got married, she did the bridal mendhi for me. I didn't want to go all out. She did an arabic style for me, my best friend, and my niece. She does it so fast and so pretty. I heard about Bibya Salon for the longest time before I actually went here. My girlfriends would constantly rave about how amazing Zara is with waxing. All I can say is I'm mad I didn't come here sooner. I first made a Full body wax appointment with Zara 3 months ago ( Brazilian, underarms, arms, eyebrows and upper lip) and from the minute I met her she was such a sweat heart and does an amazing(and fast) job! Now that I come here more often, Zara is always willing to take me same day, sometimes even if i call 30 minutes before ( I recommend calling early in the AM for an appointment just to give the ladies at the salon a heads up for scheduling purposes) Do not get thrown off by the exterior or inside. coming from someone who used to spend way too much money at name brand salons- I'm so happy I decided to go to Zara for my waxing needs and will recommend her to anyone and everyone!! read more

I've been going here for years now for eyebrow threading and upper lip waxing - good prices and quick service! I usually go to Huma or Zara.

How is it possible that I have not reviewed Bibya yet?! Bibya is my go-to eyebrow threading joint. And yes, I do drive all the way practically up to Devon and Western to get them done. First, they are super speedy. Like, I am in and out in practically 5 minutes. They always have way too many staff just sitting around, but that means good news for me because there is always someone available to groom the brows. And they typically do a nice job. There have been two occasions (one today) where they have completely missed the mark. I have obvious stray eyebrows that they just straight up missed! How is that possible?! I guess the efficiency with which they work does not ensure the most thorough job, but again, out of the 10 times I've been there, I've only really been dissatisfied twice. Now, I have to go pluck them myself! Definitely annoying. I should have taken a better look in the mirror before I told her they "looked good". They're also very cheap. $6 for just the eyebrows. They do take credit card but I'm unsure if there's a minimum. Anyway, for the most part, I'm usually happy with them. They are always friendly and like I mentioned, there's never a wait when I pop in no matter the time. read more

It seems that Bibya's does nothing but threading and that is probably why they were able to give me perfect brows. I was a little nervous that the only conversation I had with my brow threader was "sit down and lay your head back" before she started threading, but my brows have never looked better. I even received a compliment a few days later that I looked fabulous and I should keep doing whatever it was I was doing. The threading hurt a little bit. Actually, it hurt a lot. I heard about Bibya through a friend, tried it once, and have not gone anywhere since. You MUST go to Alma. She is AMAZING. She's does exactly what you ask for, is fast, and is very nice. Wait...one thing about Alma is that she keeps trying to peddle stuff. Stay strong. The facial is weird, I don't trust the waxing, BUT do get the goopy pore cleaner stuff. It's wax with rose water. Think Biore multipled. It's awesome. It makes my face a little itchy afterwards, but if you don't itch it, it goes away pretty soon after and it cleans out your pores like nothing else. The prices are outrageously cheap. They are so cheap! I get my upper lip and my eyebrows for $8! What?! Where else can you get that done? read more

You show the owner a picture of what you think you want to look like, and then she suggests something along her preference. Stand Your Ground! Youll have to show her the pic again to reassure her you already know what you like. I got a shorter pixie cut this time with a low fade used clipper 3. I came out with a smooth cut but with hair everywhere. That was my only disappointment. Oh, and the fact that they only have gel and White Rain mousse to style your hair. Every time I need my eyebrows threaded I purposely drive all the way to Rogers Park to get them done. I can't find a place in the city that is as quick and reasonably priced as Bibya ($6 for an eyebrow threading.) Another plus side is that you do not need to make an appointment and can still be in and out in about 5 minutes. I only get my eyebrows done here, but they do offer an array of other services; such as haircuts, waxing, henna, etc. I don't usually have a particular preference to who threads my brows because they all typically do a decent job. Most of the times they are on point, but once in a while they might mess up. There was one time, the threader pinched my skin with the thread. If you never gotten your skin pinched before, let me tell you it burns...A LOT. Thankfully, she was apologetic and was more careful for the rest of the threading. The lotion, which they offer at the end of every threading, helped with the burning. Overall, they do a great job on my brows and you definitely can't beat their prices. I will always be returning up here to get my brows shaped and tamed. The only complaint I have is that they are pretty much cash only for anything under $25 (if I'm not mistaken.) They don't even have a sign posted up, so new patrons would not even know. read more

Two stars for being around the corner from my current house! Stars for location? Yes, it's legitimate because when I'm in a time crunch and have man-brow action going on, it's a HUGE plus in their favor. They once talked me into getting a facial. Big mistake, HUGE! (to quote Julia Roberts in Pretty Woman.) I broke out in a reaction to the "stuff" they piled onto my face. I should have known that you get what you pay for. I've learned my lesson. I'll stick with the brows, and even then, only for emergency purposes. Many times I've walked out of their with my brows too short or too thin. Like many others, I'd been meaning to try threading for awhile. Stacey P. recommended that I go with her to Bibya after work, so I thought why not. Well, I must say, I am a convert. As a fair-skinned lady, I often found myself with perma-red-face after a wax, but with the threading, I was only red for a few minutes. Also, it's much more precise than waxing, and I absolutely loved how perfectly shaped my eyebrows were afterward. Im heading to Burning Man and the thought of shaving with minimal water in a dusty desert was enough to get me over my fears of waxing. I found Bibya's full body wax on Groupon (although, as a business owner myself, I chose not to buy from Groupon and rather support the business directly), and after reading through the Yelp reviews decided to make the trek from West Loop to West Rogers Park. You seriously cannot beat a full body wax for $100. This was my first waxing experience - anywhere, ever - and I went all-in with legs, underarms, arms, brazilian. I also have thick, black, Latina hair. Needless to say I was terrified, but Zaara could not have made me feel more comfortable. The space is no frills - so don't expect a spa environment, but I highly, highly recommend Zaara for waxing and threading (she fit me in for eyebrows after!) Zaara was patient with a newbie who needed excessive breaks, expert in her application and uh - ripping. There's no doubt waxing entails pain, but Zaara was comforting and encouraging when the road got rough. She was also really thorough. Based on all my pre-wax research, I expected soreness and the little red dots - a'la a freshly plucked chicken - to last a few days. My red dots were gone within an hour and I have no soreness at all. Literally got my wax about 3 hours ago and had to get on here to rave about it. So far, the pain - and there IS pain, no matter what anyone tells you - is worth the results. Razor-free vacation here I come. read more

I have been going to Bibya's since I was 15years old. I am now 22. I love the girls over there, they take care of their customers really well. One in particular is Zara, she is awesome. To be honest I believe that she is the best one there. Dont get me wrong all of them are good but she is great. If you ever want to get anything done like facials, eyebrow threading, waxing...and etc she is the person that I would allow to service me. My mom, sister, and bestfriends all go to Zara and have been very faithful customers to her, she has never disappointed meor them. My eyebrows and bikini waxes always comes out really really nice. After reading the reviews here, I decided to go get my eyebrows threaded (in December). I just moved into the area in August, and I felt like i was in the mecca of eyebrow threading places. Bibya was perfect! Nothing that completely blew me away (hence the 4 stars), but definitely worth a trip. I think i paid $6, plus a couple extra for a tip, and my eyebrows looked great. I can't remember the name of the lady that did them, but everyone there seemed extremely friendly. I'll be back for sure! read more

Bibya is the place to go if you want expert threading of brow, upper lip, or face. You can walk in but it's best to call ahead. They can get very busy sometime but you will always get in.
