It was a snowy day and we really wanted Chinese, so this was the closest place. We stepped in and it was freezing. The waitress apologized for the cold and said the heater was on, but it wasn't working very well so we kept our jackets on the whole time. No one else was inside the restaurant. The waitress was super nice. She offered us free egg drop soup because it was so cold. We ordered the chicken with vegetables and the orange chicken. They were both standard Chinese dishes and nothing out of the ordinary. Prices were OK. Occasionally we will dine in at lunch and the lady is always so sweet and the food comes out super fast! We like chicken with hot garlic sauce, pad Thai, and beef with broccoli. Portions are huge. For a small chinese restsurant located is a prettt old strip mall, this place was actually pretty good. If you want an environment that feels fancy, this place is not it. It pulls no punches showing yoy what it is; Chisese food, full stop. The place is pretty barren sans for a few expected items of chinese culture. The service here is also pretty blunt; They are there to make you the food and you eat said food. That being said, the food is pretty great. So so disappointed that they're no longer making Dongbei cuisine (a style of Northeastern Chinese cooking), which was what set them apart from the many other strip mall Chinese restaurants. I miss their Baozi (filled buns), Jiaozi (dumplings, not pot stickers), and hearty noodle dishes. What remains on the menu is the ubiquitous Mongolian Beef and Mapo Tofu, which were so average it made me wonder whether their original cook had left and that's why they couldn't offer the signature dishes anymore. Normally was a fan of the place/never had any complaints but today I got my usual dish and it tastes like gasoline or petrol was spilt in it, after one bite and realizing the taste i feel a little sick. Report the issue on doordash and give the restaurant a call to warn them that they may be sending out contaminated food and to ask for a refund, but the call is what led me to write this review since they were pretty dismissive and unapologetic, didnt say anything besides "get your refund through doordash, bye". So we've been ordering from this place off and on for years. Had quite a few good experiences back in 2018 and a couple of uneaven ones in 2019. Since then, we've only ordered a couple times. The food we used to enjoy is now worse than it was. The meat is worse quality, the sauces are skunky, the food is cooked so all the oil is just sitting in it. Ordered off of doordash and unfortunately it was the worst Chinese food we've had. The pan fried dumplings were severely undercooked. The sesame chicken was so dry you couldn't swallow it. And finally the worst was the chicken and vegetables. Pretty sure they boiled chicken and vegetables in a pot and scooped it into a box with RAW pieces of chicken. Completely inedible. Spent $67 and only got $10 back but I think that is a doordash thing. Will not be ordering from here again. read more

I hate giving restaurants, especially small mom and pop places one star, but this place really deserves that honor. I really wanted Mexican from the restaurant next door, but it was really busy (hmmm must mean they actually serve edible food) so I thought I'd stop by. I really should've taken the hint that there must be a reason the restaurant is empty on a Saturday night, but I didn't. I don't honestly remember what I ordered other than I barely touched my food. It was some chicken and vegetable dish. The vegetables were rock hard, but smothered in some sort of sauce. The chicken was way undercooked - I didn't finish it because I didn't want to get sick. My plate shouldn't have been cooked in 5 minutes... maybe that's why the chicken was gooey and maybe even raw? The side of white rice I ordered was blah - not warm and sticky like I expected and love. And when I was done with my food I was asked if I liked the food and I merely said that it was "fine." Doesn't a restaurant owner/waiter get concerned when someone doesn't eat 60-70% of the food on their plate? The lack of attention and concern (maybe I was too polite?) for a customer that barely touched their food only made me even more upset that I wasted $10 on a meal here. I'm lost in the suburbs and staring at what looks like yet another non-descript Chinese restaurant. The reason- for the place's Northeastern-styled cuisine. In addition to the standard menu, there's an ever changing additional menu of dishes that according to our friends from that region, are as close to authentic as you can get without a visa and a plane ticket. I won't even begin to describe the dishes- it wouldn't do them justice, plus I have no idea what the english names are. Suffice to say, the food was very excellent both times that we went. If you want to try something other than the typical Cantonese, Taiwanese, etc... food, then visit He-Xing Gardens, ask for their chinese menu and just start pointing at random dishes... or ask for recommendations. It's a family-owned place and they're all very friendly and helpful. 5 stars for the food, price, and finding an uncommon regional offering in Denver. read more

My order has been perfect every time, the food is always amazing, and the staff is great. Definitely get the mushu. Their mix and sauce is one of the best I've ever had. This is also one of those places that uses those thick, al dente style lo mein noodles, instead of that mushy kind you see sometimes, so take advantage of that while you're there. read more

A treat in Colorado, this place serves Northern Chinese cuisine, something that used to be quite rare to see in the US. The owners are from Harbin and they serve several interesting northern dishes only on the Chinese menu. Both times I've been here it's been a low key mix of locals and Chinese. I recommend either coming here with a person who knows how to order or check out the images I uploaded. Unfortunately, I haven't figured out how to write Chinese characters yet in yelp so the names are on the images themselves. They also have a Chinese version of kimchee (ask for paocai) they make if you're adventurous. read more

We ordered for five people and all our orders were simply perfect--even mine which needed to be extra spicy, which it definitely was. They quote us at about 45 minutes for delivery and arrived at our door in 20 on a Saturday night. Do not rely on negative reviews on Yelp. People like to complain and assume others will listen. Have to ding He Xing Garden a star for the decision to change their egg rolls. Previously, their egg rolls were crispy, tasty, perfect...one of my favorite foods. They're just awful now. :-( I also miss the old noodles they use to put in the Sesame Chicken. We ordered a couple simple dishes, chicken fried rice and sesame chicken. Most of the side dishes (chicken wing, beef on stick, egg rolls, short rib) were quite greasy and over-fried, including the sesame chicken. The chicken fried rice was very under-fried, interestingly. Another hidden gem! Authentic Chinese food...but you have to go to the back of the menu (image included). My wife is Chinese and she orders in Chinese and you get the real deal! We had Salt and Pepper Fish Fillet, Pork Intestines with Chili Spicy Sauce, and Stir Fried Egg Plant with Sliced Pork. The eggplant was not spicy, the fish had some spice to it and the intestine was big spicy but all super delicious together! The egg rolls rocked! I got a delivery order and it was their pretty quick, they've definitely got good timing. However, the bag my food was delivered in was soaked at the bottom when I got it. Opened up the bag to find the sweet and sour sauce spilled all over my order, mixing with my egg drop soup giving it a very funky taste, chicken lo mien isn't bad, chicken was really chewy, the rest of it was good. Thai mango chicken and steamed dumplings are my go to, but everything else I have tried has been great to! We are regulars for dine in here. Sunday night I was not wanting to go out so we picked up food. This experience was terrible. I ordered my usual sweet and sour chicken. The vegetables look like they had been cooked hours ago. The green peppers had that stewed pepper color, not fresh like stir fry. The onions and carrots were soggy not crisp. Food was not hot, we live five minutes from here. And to top it off we ordered large soup (quart) and it didn't come with crispy noodles that go in it. So today my husband went back to get some because we can't eat it without them. He took receipt and she knows him. She refused to give him any. Charged him $1.50. I guess our business isn't worth a lot to her. Won't be going back anytime soon. read more
