I've been going to Headprint regularly to see Katrina and her services are incredible! I've always had trouble finding a stylist that really listens to what I want and doesn't damage my hair. I went red (on Asian black hair) and she took such care in getting me a gorgeous color while leaving my hair smooth, shiny and healthy. I've been back for regular touch ups and partial highlights to get more depth to the color. Her highlights blend really well with my roots and it's been growing out looking really natural so that I don't have to go in too often. On top of it all, Katrina is super sweet as a person and lovely to work with. I have since moved away, and I still fly back to go see her! Teddy is an artist. Teddy is so skilled it's ridiculous. He's not just good enough to work in Hollywood or NYC with mega stars--he'd be the best there. Instead he's bringing beauty, fun, community, and just pure FIRE here--and we are all so lucky. I think my story is pretty common with Teddy: he brought a dimension and look to my hair that I always wanted but never got and never even knew how to ask others for. Teddy just knew how to do it. It only took about 30 seconds to talk about it in my first appt--and then during the rest of that appointment we just had so much fun talking. That was years ago, and my only regret is that I don't have a time machine and get to look like this back in the day. I only have the BEST things to say about Taylor! I was fortune to find her in early 2018. She's wow'd me and my hair ever since! The first time I saw Taylor, I was referred to by a close friend who used to see another colorist at the chair next to hers at a previous location. The first visit she was able to revive a not so great color (botch) I got done weeks before. And that wasn't the first time! When I walked in, my stylist was sullen, and did not greet me with even a smile (first time there). I would have walked out then, but had a card on file, and tried to lighten the mood with her to get her chatting. She said that my hour,15 minute first time cut could be done in 1/2 hour. I showed her 2 photos, one carefully done at an internationally known local place for shags, and another one a cute, expert layered cut I had had. I asked for the top not to be heavy and the layers to be pulled back from my face. I walked out with a heavy, pulled down, bobish - sides too long/top and an unflattering cut making my face look like a bowl, with the layers lacking motion, and an unflattering wrong (lack of) cut for my face. I also had to ask her to even the bottom back which she did, but had left it scraggly and uneven. She insisted I "trust the process", not realizing perhaps, that trust is borne out of a relationship, and good results. Although the salon was cozy and looked lovely, and I was eager to try it, I cannot recommend getting a haircut with this newer person. I assume the more senior staff do great work based on the reviews. read more

There are no words to describe how much I love going to Taylor and getting my hair done with her! Within the past year, I've had 4 sessions with her and have loved the results each time! I first came to her when I read on Yelp that she specialized in bleaching asian hair. I had been trying to go blonde for the past year and it seemed like nobody could get the results I wanted- but after my second session with her, she exceeded what I was hoping for. Taylor takes the time to build a relationship with you and makes sure she knows exactly what you want and delivers. I have super thick hair and at other salons, it can sometimes feel like they rush through the foiling/bleaching process. Even if it takes hours (and it always does), Taylor puts in the time, effort, and care ensuring that the outcome is perfect. I'm always so shocked how blonde my hair is after seeing her! Her prices are very reasonable considering how much she does and she never adds on any extra charges (ex: if it takes longer than expected). The studio itself is super cute and in a really good location. Everyone that I've met there has always been very friendly and accommodating. I have thick/wavy hair and spent years trying to find a hair stylist who knew how to cut/style my type of hair and after a friend referred me to Katrina in 2018 my search was over! I have been going to Katrina Roman for haircuts, styling, color for about almost 4 years and she always knows exactly what to do with my hair. I recently relocated to New York and am struggling to find a stylist that I like as much as her. The times where I knew I wanted to change it up but wasn't sure *how* she always was super patient and was able to ask me the right questions, I always walk out feeling great about how my hair looks. I can only say positive things about this place! A friend referred me here a couple months ago because their stylist, Taylor, specializes in taking dark natural black hair to platinum blonde in one sitting. As someone with very thick, very dark, textured hair, I have been trying for YEARS to get to platinum blonde, but all the previous salons I've gone to all told me I would have to get there slowly in sessions, and even after going through with it they would eventually tell me my hair had reached its limit and was too damaged to get lighter, so I'd always have to start over and regrow my hair to try again at a new salon. I was so surprised to find Taylor at Headprint! She's a clear expert in bleaching and toning hair, from the first FaceTime consultation call we had. She talked with me about my specific hair goals and my hair's tendencies, and prepped me with what to expect in terms of how long it would probably take to go from black hair to platinum. I appreciated that she focused on making sure we kept my hair as safe from damage and as healthy as possible throughout the process. Because of my hair density, my actual session took around 8-9 hours, but Taylor did an AMAZING job on my hair! She let me change my shirt into a standard T-shirt at the salon to make sure I wouldn't get any stains on my clothes, and also had me come back a couple days later for an additional treat and toning session to make sure my hair would recover from the bleaching well. I also super appreciated it because she slotted me in in order for me to get my hair done before a big birthday party I was hosting where I wanted to reveal my platinum hair change. So considerate!! I actually went back today, after I botched an at-home attempt to tone my hair (my yellow blonde turned into a grey ). But I texted Taylor and she did what she could to get me in to the studio so she could fix my mistake! And now I have the most beautiful platinum blonde again -- even nicer than the last time I came in! I'd highly recommend Taylor at Headprint to anyone who's always wanted to have lighter hair but was also told it wasn't possible by other salons! I've never written a review on Yelp before, but this one is for Taylor Edina, a blonde magician. If you're looking to go blonde (especially if you're an Asian), Taylor's your girl. I'm Asian, have jet black hair, and have been wanting to bleach my hair blonde for years, but have always been worried about it damaging, or looking brassy, or getting the wrong tone for my skin tone... But Taylor was super patient, understood what I was looking for, and also really good at quelling my nerves. I honestly was going to go with just some highlights, but Taylor was so excited, confident, and wanted me to get EXACTLY what I wanted, that I felt like I really trusted her to work on this project. I got my hair done here by Chad and came in wanting to start a slow process of getting blonde and everyone knows the first step to that is going ginger. I also came in to get extensions and wanted a weft like I typically get. When chad was lifting my hair he ended up lifting too heavy for too long and fried my hair so badly that when I went home and showered my hair was falling out horribly like a lot. I was too anxious to saying (looking back I wish I would not have been so damn anxious and polite and trusting I should have been more demanding tbh bc that's my hair and my money and he ruined it and I let him) and went back to get my extensions (btw he didn't get my hair ginger just fried it and I had to then buy a color depositing conditioner myself which I will say when I did use the conditioner it eventually deposited color to match my extensions and looked great-for a little while) when I got my extensions chad had me do k tips which I wish I knew more about them back then like I do now..he put them in my whole head and said I could leave them for about 7 months without having to move them up etc unlike the weft and that they were cheaper as well. Well my whole head was then covered in ktips that eventually started locking, pulling out my hair leaving bald sections, and not because I didn't take care of them bc I did and simply followed his advice and I even messaged him asking to get it checked on asking for more advice sending photos etc to help prevent what was happening and he ended up ghosting me...I had three hairstylists months after this trying to get all my locked ktips out telling me I never should have believed someone who told me I can have glue ktips in my hair for 7 months less yet all over my head rather than just as filler. Misinformation, neglect to book me another appointment when I wanted my hair checked on due to the consequences of his mistakes and misinformation left me thousands of dollars in debt with the most damaged hair I've ever had read more

Just wanted to come on here and say that I am so happy with my hair after coming here. Reagan was so amazing - this is the best haircut I have had in so long and she was so great to talk to. Genuinely, we had amazing conversation and I had so much fun talking with her. Suspicious that there are literally zero 1-4 star reviews for this place, don't you think? DO NOT believe the hype. I paid over $500 for the worst color experience I've had in my life. I asked for a root touch up and overall tone up and instead I went from cool ash blonde highlights (that I've had for over 10 years) to a full brassy orange red head before my first wash. Worse, when I returned for a correction I was told that I would need to fork over another $120 for 'the blonde specialist' to use yet another 'custom' toner to make my roots match the old highlights. Excuse me? #FAIL. RUN DO NOT WALK away. You will be better off with a $15 Kristen Ess toner kit from Target. read more

This review is in part for the studio itself but more specifically for the hair magician that is Lex. I followed Lex from their previous salon to this bright spot, and while they've stayed consistent with their work, this new space is extremely inviting. You can tell people here truly love what they do but also are able to meet their clients wherever they're at. I never understood the decade long client/service relationship hype before Lex but I understand it now and will continue to follow them where their journey takes them. The amount of trust between a hairstylist and client I feel not only lies in how the end result will look (for me anyways) but also that the person doing your hair understands where you are and who you are. Lex has seen me through 6 years of change, growth, stagnation, and has held space for me wherever I've been in my life. Not only have they done amazing work on my hair but they've also taught me so much about loving myself through my hair. I'm someone who had never done their hair before, apart from the spontaneous bad at-home bleach job in high school. I learned thru Lex how to take care of my hair in an easy to remember way, never felt pressured to do something that was too much work for me, and when they do treatments on my hair, it's all about where I am at in life. They ask about my routines, my products, how I wear my hair, and are able to accommodate my lifestyle to the upkeep of my hair, which is amazing as someone who works full time but still wants to look nice with minimal effort. I had wanted to go blonde for awhile but was always too nervous about the upkeep, about the appointments, etc but finding Lex eased a lot of that anxiety. They listened to my needs and fears and started slowly not only to keep my hair as healthy as it could be but also to help slowly adjust me to the big change. Lex's body of work is versatile and even though I've been seeing them for years and there is camaraderie, some appointments I just don't feel like talking because I work customer service myself and I'm burnt out. They don't make me feel like I need to talk but also don't make me feel like trying to make conversation when I do feel talkative. They're genuinely interested and invested in me and my journey and it comes through. This review is a long time coming hence it's length but it could not be more deserved. Lex is a gem and this studio is very lucky to have them.
