I made the terrible mistake of going to this salon for a bridal trial. They call themselves "The hair and makeup group." So, I pull up to this old place in a mini mall. I was thinking of not even going in at first, but I was there so thought how bad could it be? One of the girls was named Nancy and I forgot the other one's name. The girl who did my hair looked about 18, talked the ENTIRE time about her personal life to her co-worker and was really obnixious bragging about all the weddings she does and how great she is. I brought pictures with me thinking how can she mess this up. I asked for LOOSE curls. I could tell half way through she had NO CLUE what I wanted and my hair was schlacked down with about 2 cans of hairspray with pin tight Shirley Temple curls. I should have just told her to stop what she was doing. She kept going on and on about how great it looked..uhuh. Next was the makeup girl who I asked to use the lightest shade foundation on me since foundation tends to turn orangey on my face. Well, she used airbrush makeup, which left my face looking totally greasy, and ORANGE, with eyeshadow that was put on way too thick. I was then put on the spot where they assumed they would be getting my business and started asking me what time they should come to my house the day of the wedding. I have been having my highlights done by Nece for over twenty years. I have tried others in the past, but no one compares to Nece. She is truly a professional. I live in Florida during the winter months. I will go to Nece before I leave and as soon as I come back to Staten Island, I will not go to anyone else. She is the best!!!! read more

This is such a great salon. Kim is the most amazing stylist ever & so warm & caring. She really cares about her customers as clients AND as people & is always & all ways so attentive & proficient. I am so happy here on every appt. I have been going to Kim for years & her expertise, professionalism & attitude are superlative. I won't let anyone but Gina wash my hair. Gina is great & also very caring & deft. She always remembers things that most ppl forget when washing my hair. The professionalism & precision & kindness that exude from this salon are fabulous. The shampoo women was the worse. Water in my ears and she did not wash my hair at all! Just dumped the shampoo on and pretended to wash it. She almost immediately rinsed my hair as soon as she put the shampoo in. Same with the conditioner. She rinsed it for a micro minute. I had tons of soap left in my hair and also behind my head.. How could she not know how to wash a head of hair? read more

Worst salon!! Went there for years. One day went in and went to a new girl who ruined my hair. She tried to take me from black to blonde in one day. And blamed me btw and I told her I don't do hair she should know what the right thing is to do. She was doing my hair and about 5 other people at the same time and I know she forgot about me the bleach was on my hair a long time. She was none stop talking ( in a hyper loud way, hmmm ). Finally she told me to go to sink and after the shampoo girl was done torturing me, I looked down and my ends and I was in shock to see my hair melted. I jumped up went to morrow and my hair was slimmy and melted and just coming off. I almost died and the girl proceeded to have a fight with me in the salon and no one came over. I said you melted my hair and she tried to tell me that was normal. I actually let her convince me to cut it and dry it and what I saw I almost got sick. Went to the desk and the women at the desk asked what was wrong and I told her and the hairdresser came over caused a scene and was yelling and fighting with me. They took her side, was rude and nasty and I told the so-called hairdresser she better get away from me because yes in about a minute I was going to jump over the desk anD leap on her. I had to go to another hair dresser and proceed to get all my hair cut off, yes cut off into choppy shirt pieces. My Mother was close to Cali g a lawyer and I regret not pursuing it. Yea I had gone there for years without issue. This was a new girl and they knew me, been seeing me for years but the fact they let someone yell at a customer and ruin there hair without so much as a sorry what can we do to make this better is disgusting. I found a great salon on page, French twist. Thank god, professionals and artist at that. When people ask now about my hair I tell them where to go and where not to go and always tell about my nightmare at headquarters. read more

I went here recently to have my hair curled for a wedding I was in. My appointment was with Kim for 9am. She was great and it felt very natural talking with her. I have very thick, curley and frizzy hair and she never made a comment to me about how much hair I have. When hair stylists make this comment I almost feel guilty that they have to do my hair like it's a chore so it was really nice that she never made me feel that way. While she was doing my hair I felt like she was using an insane amount of hairspray but my hair stayed all night still held its curl when I woke up in the morning. My hair took about 45 minutes which was faster than I expected and it cost 70. The also gave me 10 dollars off as a new customer...I don't know if this is a temporary promotion though. The place looks kind of dated...that's the only negative I could think of, but whatever as long as they do a good job...which they did. read more

I wish there was 0 stars to give. Instead of blowing my hair out myself, I decided that I was going to go to the salon and have someone else do it. As I sat down in the chair someone told me that Lori would be doing my hair. It didn't matter bc I'm recently new to the neighborhood and I figured how can u mess up a blowout. She came over and I requested that my hair not be limp but nice and full. After she was done my hair looked like I did it myself. When I questioned her she rudely told me that I should've done my hair myself. She also kept making excuses saying my hair was too long there was no way to give me what I wanted etc. instead of fixing the problem she was huffing and puffing and clearly giving off the impression that she didn't care. BEWARE and get it in writing first. Went for the F450 (results like keratin). Came out great but the $250 originally told, which I only spent because I got a gift certificate, was $292 (not including tips) when done. I went back a month later for a root touch up. $50+ is the price on the web page so I figured since my hair is thick it would run $60-70. Well the plus (+) had nothing to do with my hair but the $105 price tag when I went to pay was because they charge to blow dry it...After a coloring!?!? Did I mention the color was not even the right one?!?! When it is 35 degrees outside?! I will not be setting foot in their again and will report them to the BBB. Buyer beware...treat this salon like a real estate and get full disclosure before buying. read more

I have been going to Headquarters for the last year. I love the beautician I went to. She did beautiful work on my hair and was very sweet. However, I will no longer be going there due to the treatment I just received. I went 3 days ago to get my hair colored with brown dye and blonde chunks to have that nice contrast. Loved it & was satisfied until later on that night. My scalp was on fire and burning. I had an itchy scalp so bad I couldn't stop scratching. The next day I woke up & my was swollen including the back of my neck. It looked like I had a tennis ball under my skin. I have burns on the side of my face. I called to let them know what happened to me & the owner's sister Addy got very defensive and was getting nasty with me saying I should have told them I was allergic. Obviously if I knew I was going to be allergic to their products I would have never gotten my hair dyed. I was willing to let it go and take a Benadryl. The next day it got worse. My entire face was blown up & my eyes were starting to shut. I got nervous thinking my throat would close so I had to pay a babysitter to watch my 2 kids, make my sister drive me to the Dr's, had to pay for my visit & pay for meds. Got cortisone shot & on 3 different meds. I then went down to the shop the following day asking for a total refund back as anyone else would do the same. The lady Addy again was so nasty to me. As soon as she saw me she didn't even greet me but said deal with insurance company. I said all I want is my refund and I'll be happy. She got very defensive & told me it wasn't her fault I had an allergic reaction as if it was mine? What happened to the customer is always right policy? My face looked like I was a monster. All I wanted from them was a little bit of compassion for what I went through & her being a woman and seeing what my face looked like would have felt awful. She was not the least bit compassionate at all. She was cold as ice & was so rude to me. She said she would refund me for my dye but charged me for my haircut. How stingy, unprofessional and what a terrible reflection she has made for herself for her brother's company. Not only did she lose me as a customer but she messed it up for her hairdresser as well. I will never step foot in that store again. Its unfortunate that all this could have been put to rest had she would have treated me like a normal person & would have just said I'm so sorry this happened to you & should have refunded me right there and then. I wrote this review to share with those who are interested in this place because I want you to know how I was treated as a customer from this woman. The hairdressers are great but I just hope nothing like this happens to anyone else. It was an awful and upsetting situation. Thank God I got my hair done now because my son's christening is next week & I would have been mortified looking the way I did. Good luck to all of you who go there & to the hairdressers working there. I hope they don't lose any other customers due to the poor customer service.
