I also love that end-to-end services are offered, which reinforces the thought and care they put into their practice. The plaster paw print, fur clippings in the glass vial, the sympathy card with forget-me-not seeds, and also the donation in Mochi's name to PAWS NY are all so treasured, and the aquamation service (via Compassionate Care Pet Aquamation) was also top notch. I have considered their grief counseling services as well but am still working through a lot of life adjustments without Mochi. Hamish is our beloved almost 16 year old dog who had been increasingly in pain and panting, showing signs of dementia, and losing the ability to get up off the floor without assistance. Making the decision to put him to sleep was so very difficult. We were so relieved to find a vet who could provide a relaxing outdoor setting without the stress of a traditional veterinary hospital. Tender Comforts In home Pet Euthanasia is set on a farm in the country, so, on a plush blanket laid on grass and clover, underneath an oak tree, with a picnic table and benches available, beloved Hamish was able to gently leave behind his pain and anxiety with the help of Dr. Craig Little and Nurse Cindy. They explained everything that was going to take place and chatted with us which helped us relax. And of course they handled Hamish gently and compassionately. I was able to sit on the grass right next to Hamish and pet him constantly throughout the procedure. They explained some things along the way which was helpful. I remember Dr. Little reaching across Hamish with his stethscope to listen to his heartbeat, and gently indicating to me that he was gone. We were not rushed away; I was able to continue petting and talking to Hamish as long as I wanted to. My husband and I, as well as Hamish, were treated with great respect. Before we left, there were hugs all around. I noticed that when we left, Cindy got on the ground with Hamish and continued to pet and care for him. So for Hamish, it was a day that began with a breakfast of brownies, ham and cereal, which was followed by a nice ride in the car to Readington, where he got out onto a grassy field with a cozy blanket waiting for him to rest upon, and friendly people waiting to help him. Yes we are sad, and yes, we miss him, but the quality of care we received from Tender Comforts In home Pet Euthanasia definitely has helped us get through it. She showed up on time as scheduled and was prepared with everything she needed and even a little extra. She explained to me everything she was doing and what would happen. She even brought Hershey kisses for my baby girl to gobble down while she inserted the IV. Luckily she brought a stretcher and a blanket for when she was done. When they told me I'd have to help carry my sweet baby out to the vehicle when it was over I was picturing carrying my limp girl in my arms to the car. She did most of the work as I was numb from losing my precious girl. When we got to the car it was prepared like a memorial with a picture of CeeCee and her name on a card. It all made the worst moment of my life a little easier. A few days later I received a positive and uplifting condolence card. And they posted a nice little tribute on their Facebook page. All in all I'm glad I made this decision to choose them and that my little girl got her wings in the comfort of her own home laying on her favorite bed with chocolate that she was never allowed to have.
