I first met Liz last April (2016) when my Boxer became ill. She helped him and myself in many ways. Making his life comfortable in my home with her care. She was able to draw his blood here at home and then drop the vials off to my Veterinarian. This made a huge difference in me having to get my dog in/out of the car etc. Truly she reduced most of the stress. She worked with my Vet so that my boy could have the best of both worlds. She provides IV fluids and acupressure among many other services. Over time Liz has worked with all three of my dogs. Sally Rodriguez Hamm (FurMom)

I HIGHLY recommend her for pet care. Taking a holistic approach to pet health, Liz focuses on your pet and your family...and your individual preferences. I am certain this was very much in part due to Liz's connection with him and her careful and nurturing manner. She's the professional, the rock, the strength, the nurturing...the ONE you need for your pet. You will thank me, I promise.

So besides needing eye drops for glaucoma and a cataract she required Prednisone. Well we all see these commercials for wonder drugs ( the wonder is why we take them with all the side effects) so even though the Prednisone gave my girl relief it slowly started to effect other systems. Last week in what appeared to be overnight she slowly stopped eating but only drank. That was a red flag. Took her to an emergency facility which was a nightmare. Four hours sitting around waiting for some diagnosis. Every so often someone would come out and give some empty info. Finally a vet came out and provided me with a 3 page plan with an estimate that sent me to the cardiologist. This where Zen Dog comes in. Based on the diagnosis and the plan with no light at the end we felt the best most humane course of action was to euthanize. Spoke with Dr. Ray., he could not have been more understanding and compassionate. He showed up at the house took the time to explain the process. Once comfortable with what was going to happen he started. Dr Ray gave us time to be with her and comfort her until the end. It was a very tough thing to deal with but she went with family around in her home and peacefully. If anyone who reads this is at that point with their beloved pet, Zen Dog is in my opinion a great comforting option

When we…read morefound out that we were going to be back in Rockaway, I reached out to Dr. Mini to see if she had any availability because Sierra was in desperate need of some dental care (immediately!) What I received was a quick response (via text) and I actually thought I was talking to a receptionist. What I didn't realize was that I was talking (texting) with Dr. Mini, herself, even though she was ON VACATION! She did an amazing job on Sierra's teeth and I would definitely recommend her (and even give her more stars if I could!!)

I stumbled on happy paws on google/facebook and I really wish another vet had an opening and was able to come to our home. From the second I spoke to Dr Mink I felt rushed. I initially called her around 12/1pm to ask if she had an opening and she did from 6-8pm that she can be here.. I tried to call her back to confirm but she said she was in a house call and she'll call me back.. call back never happened.. turned into just a text exchange confirming she can come between 6-8pm. When she got here at 6:30 all we wanted was 10 extra minutes with our girl.. she made it seem like I was asking for an hour and said she can give us 5 minutes as she has another appointment right after.. I already got annoyed at this comment right from the beginning. When she came in first thing she asked for was payment.. no asking of what our girls name was, how old she was, what was going on.. nothing.. zero sympathy.. went straight for payment and then straight to almost giving her the first shot to put our baby to sleep.. she then gave us maybe 5 minutes and went straight to shaving her paw and putting in the IV line.. After our girl was gone the Dr gave us zero information about cremation.. all I got was can you pickup her ashes in Clifton? That's it.. no name of the company nothing.. we were also in total shock still so even asking these questions then completely went over my mind. I had to text her the next day asking when we can pickup her ashes and when they will be ready.. all I got was an excuse saying she sent the information already but the text didn't go through so she will resend them. In the end we picked up our girls ashes and paw prints on Tuesday, all no thanks to the Dr, I called the cremation place myself and was told everything was ready for pickup. I just hope this review helps others.. we were going through one of the worst days with our girl and looking back at all the things that happened I really wish we went with someone else.

Although I am a physician I am not familiar with this procedure in canines, but apparently open incisions are used to cut into the bladder for stone removal. My. Baby girl was discharged in howling pain, which was traumatic for my sister who had retrieved her. She had to return her to demand appropriate pain management for the dog as she was only given gabapentin and Rimadyl (doggie Advil). Even women who have cesarean sections are given strong analgesia for at least 3 days postoperatively. My baby suffered for days. I called the office the following day to get information regarding her diet going forward, as bladder stones can definitely recur. Not only was I not given any information, but I was merely switched to another person who just asked for my financials to make payment for the "extra (much needed) meds." I was given a generic receipt, so my insurance denied the payment, and I was NEVER given the invoice for the surgery, which was almost 3k and paid in full up front. I sent an email requesting the invoice, and to date they refused to respond, so I will not be able to submit for the reimbursement. When my son called the office he was told that they "didn't know" about the insurance- even though it is on file. Although they claim they will submit, I don't have much faith that they will. Further, why was this not handled from the beginning before they tortured my baby? If a human patient is treated this way there are patient advocates & lawyers promptly involved. I guess things are different in Veterinary Medicine.... But animals deserve compassionate care, too. Some people love their pets more than their spouses. In addition, pet parents should be counseled regarding the operative course, what to expect, and how to manage their pets post-operatively at home. My family, and especially my dog, were traumatized by this experience. This vet got good reviews on Yelp for some reason; maybe they are acceptable for routine well care visits and minor illnesses. But if you have a pet with serious illness or require invasive or surgical intervention I encourage you to seek another Veterinary practice.

She did not rush through and was gentle with our cat and with us. Paws at Peace offers some extras (a paw print and a bit of fur in a little jar) in addition to cremation options. I initially thought these things were silly but I am glad we got them. It was easy to make the arrangements. We called at 8 AM and got a same day appointment. We got a text of the expected time and an update when there was a very slight delay. We got a follow up text the next day, with an offer for grief support. This is a well run organization. Dr. Fragola so thoroughly and empathetically captured the roller coaster I had been on for the past five weeks, and I finally felt certain that it was the right time to end my cat Claudette's suffering. After submitting an online inquiry at night, I received a phone call less than twenty minutes later. From that first conversation through the thoughtful "how are you doing" follow-ups, Paws at Peace's compassion, understanding, and professionalism were authentic and unmistakable. Dr. Jennifer Lander came to our home the next day and could not have been kinder. She was patient, gentle, and genuinely interested in learning about Claudette and her life with us--later reflecting those details in a heartfelt sympathy card. The process was unrushed and deeply respectful. I will always remember the salmon paste she brought as a final treat; Claudette went crazy for it, and it's a fond last memory with our precious girl. This was the hardest moment my husband and I have faced together so far, but Paws at Peace made an unfathomable experience as peaceful as it could possibly be. I am deeply thankful for their care and cannot recommend them highly enough.
