I first met Liz last April (2016) when my Boxer became ill. She helped him and myself in many ways. Making his life comfortable in my home with her care. She was able to draw his blood here at home and then drop the vials off to my Veterinarian. This made a huge difference in me having to get my dog in/out of the car etc. Truly she reduced most of the stress. She worked with my Vet so that my boy could have the best of both worlds. She provides IV fluids and acupressure among many other services. Over time Liz has worked with all three of my dogs. Sally Rodriguez Hamm (FurMom)

I HIGHLY recommend her for pet care. Taking a holistic approach to pet health, Liz focuses on your pet and your family...and your individual preferences. She and I worked together on a health plan for my pup. When we first met, my sweet Oakley was given a 2-3 month prognosis. A year and a half later, he was still chasing chipmunks in the yard. I am certain this was very much in part due to Liz's connection with him and her careful and nurturing manner. She's the professional, the rock, the strength, the nurturing...the ONE you need for your pet. You will thank me, I promise.

He was able to accommodate a same-day request as Maggie May's health went downhill a little quicker than we had expected, and was very clear as he walked us through the steps and what to expect. So besides needing eye drops for glaucoma and a cataract she required Prednisone. Well we all see these commercials for wonder drugs ( the wonder is why we take them with all the side effects) so even though the Prednisone gave my girl relief it slowly started to effect other systems. Last week in what appeared to be overnight she slowly stopped eating but only drank. That was a red flag. Took her to an emergency facility which was a nightmare. Four hours sitting around waiting for some diagnosis. Every so often someone would come out and give some empty info. Finally a vet came out and provided me with a 3 page plan with an estimate that sent me to the cardiologist. This where Zen Dog comes in. Based on the diagnosis and the plan with no light at the end we felt the best most humane course of action was to euthanize. Spoke with Dr. Ray., he could not have been more understanding and compassionate. He showed up at the house took the time to explain the process. Once comfortable with what was going to happen he started. Dr Ray gave us time to be with her and comfort her until the end. It was a very tough thing to deal with but she went with family around in her home and peacefully. If anyone who reads this is at that point with their beloved pet, Zen Dog is in my opinion a great comforting option

Although I am a physician I am not familiar with this procedure in canines, but apparently open incisions are used to cut into the bladder for stone removal. My. Baby girl was discharged in howling pain, which was traumatic for my sister who had retrieved her. She had to return her to demand appropriate pain management for the dog as she was only given gabapentin and Rimadyl (doggie Advil). Even women who have cesarean sections are given strong analgesia for at least 3 days postoperatively. My baby suffered for days. I called the office the following day to get information regarding her diet going forward, as bladder stones can definitely recur. Not only was I not given any information, but I was merely switched to another person who just asked for my financials to make payment for the "extra (much needed) meds." I was given a generic receipt, so my insurance denied the payment, and I was NEVER given the invoice for the surgery, which was almost 3k and paid in full up front. I sent an email requesting the invoice, and to date they refused to respond, so I will not be able to submit for the reimbursement. When my son called the office he was told that they "didn't know" about the insurance- even though it is on file. Although they claim they will submit, I don't have much faith that they will. Further, why was this not handled from the beginning before they tortured my baby? If a human patient is treated this way there are patient advocates & lawyers promptly involved. I guess things are different in Veterinary Medicine.... But animals deserve compassionate care, too. Some people love their pets more than their spouses. In addition, pet parents should be counseled regarding the operative course, what to expect, and how to manage their pets post-operatively at home. My family, and especially my dog, were traumatized by this experience. This vet got good reviews on Yelp for some reason; maybe they are acceptable for routine well care visits and minor illnesses. But if you have a pet with serious illness or require invasive or surgical intervention I encourage you to seek another Veterinary practice.

He was only five years old so even though our time together was short, he brought more love and joy into my life than I ever thought possible. I first contacted Paws at Peace a few months before I ultimately had to make the decision. Colleen was my first point of contact, and from the very beginning she was warm, patient, and understanding that I was still trying to figure out whether it was the right time. At that time March, Applesauce thankfully still had some good days ahead of him. But by May, he had slowed down significantly and was in a lot of pain so I knew it was time. Dr. Zhu came to our home and was so kind, compassionate, and gentle in a way that made an incredibly heavy moment feel just a little lighter. She never rushed anything and gave us extra time with him, which was something I had been so afraid wouldn't happen. She asked about his favorite toys, and in his final moments I found myself reminiscing about him with her as if she were a friend who had known us both for years, even though we had just met. After he passed, he was wrapped in a beautiful blanket and placed in a basket. I carried him down the stairs and brought him to the car for cremation. Saying goodbye to him was heartbreaking beyond words, but the way Dr. Zhu handled every step was so thoughtful and tender that I feel deeply grateful he was in such caring hands. I truly feel so thankful that my vet recommended Paws at Peace to me. They even followed up afterward with a beautiful card and continued support, which meant more than I could express. In such an unbearable moment, they made me feel held, supported, and cared for throughout. They helped make one of the hardest days of our lives a little more bearable and surrounded by so much love and compassion.

She did not rush through and was gentle with our cat and with us. Paws at Peace offers some extras (a paw print and a bit of fur in a little jar) in addition to cremation options. I initially thought these things were silly but I am glad we got them. It was easy to make the arrangements. We called at 8 AM and got a same day appointment. We got a text of the expected time and an update when there was a very slight delay. We got a follow up text the next day, with an offer for grief support. This is a well run organization. They know what they are doing. Best of all, they did not cause any additional grief to what was already a very sad day.
