As you can tell if you look at my profile, I rate most experiences and businesses highly, and I find myself to be a very level-headed and fair person. I was considering CFA for fertility testing for both my husband and I. We had a 1-time consult with one of their doctors, which took ~15 minutes over zoom. Received a bill for CPT code 99205, which was over $400, and represents a 60-75 minute face to face visit (you can research the code yourself). I reached out to the company to say my appointment was extremely brief, and I don't believe this CPT code is accurate/represents the length of time with the doctor. I received extremely rude responses, justifying the use of the code (inaccurately, saying it includes documentation time - which it doesn't, and even if it does, show me what a 45-minute long note looks like...yeah right). Extremely disappointing and horrible to charge me for a service I didn't receive. I even mentioned that I'd be happy to pay for an accurate CPT code, even a 30-minute one, and they are not budging. Unfortunately, they have evidence of the length of the appointment since it was on the provider's zoom account, though I wish so badly I could pull that evidence (and we can all assume they won't show it). The financial department also had incorrect information about my treatment plan, which led to the oversized deposit. If you use them, make sure you know your treatment plan, make sure you get the treatment you're supposed to, and keep track of your money because they won't.

I understand that he is an award winning fertility doctor, however, his customer service is not award winning. Today, was the last time that he will ever see me in his office and have the opportunity to deliver insensitive service. When I visited today, I expressed my concern that whenever he takes cultures or does my pap smear, that I never hear from him or his office on my results. I pay for the exam, so I expect to know the outcome of my results. His response "you have to call for your results" and I then let him know that he never informed me of this policy. I told him that I did call because I was concerned about the symptoms that I was experiencing and he did not return my call. I explained that my internist always calls or send my results via US mail. He seemed offended that I had a concern regarding his lack of communication about my reproductive/vaginal health and that I asked to know the results of cultures. Well...I should have waited until the end of my exam before expressing my concerns, because he took his frustration out on me during my exam. He began my exam by trying to shove the instrument (without KY) into me in which I vocally expressed my discomfort by saying "ouch that hurts". After my 3rd "ouch that hurts" and my voice became louder in case he didn't hear me saying "ouch" the first 2 times, he said to me maybe I should use KY jelly to help it go in easier. I'm thinking, you've got to be kidding me! That didn't occur to you at first before beginning the exam? I felt like he was trying to forceable rape me with the instrument. After the exam was over and I went to the bathroom, there were traces of blood as I wiped myself. I hardly find this type of treatment acceptable and his practices are barbaric. I know Yelp has filters, but please, for the women who want and need to know, allow them to see for themselves my review and others who have had similar experiences. We are not making this stuff up! Having a sensitive ObGyn who respects your right to know your results and who is gentle with your parts is essential when dealing with our reproductive health.

I did eventually leave SGF to work with a newer, smaller fertility clinic in the area. The doctors there listened to my concerns and offered me a customized treatment plan. I got pregnant with minimal intervention (essentially just medication), and welcomed my twin girls in December. But, back to SGF. I struggled with unexplained infertility and not once did I feel as though the doctors there were actually interested in figuring out why I struggling to conceive so they could treat the problem, but, rather, they were interested in making money -- pushing me to immediately pursue IVF instead of starting with less invasive, costly options. I tried, several times, to ask questions and share concerns with my doctor, but they fell on deaf ears. The doctors here are not actually interested in diagnosing and treating medical issues, they are interested in making money. At one point, I even felt as though the doctor was explicitly chastising me for not opting into the most expensive treatments. With lots of options in the DMV, I'd look for a clinic that makes you feel comfortable and heard and, for me, that was not SGF. (Side note: as others have mentioned, their billing team is AWFUL. I would have been willing to look past it if the physicians had been worthwhile, but it was just another reason to leave.)
