Saying goodbye to a beloved family member is never easy, but Peaceful Transitions made it as positive an experience as it could be. Our sweet senior dog had been dealing with some health problems, but when we woke up this morning he was unable to walk and was showing signs of neurological issues. When he didn't improve throughout the morning we were about to take him to the emergency vet as his usual vet is closed on Sunday, but then I saw a listing for Peaceful Transitions and we decided to give them a call. They were so incredibly kind on the phone and even though it was a Sunday and they had a full schedule today, they were able to fit us in only a few hours later. They explained the entire process to us over the phone and answered all of our questions, helped us with planning arrangements for after he passed and we were able to pay our invoice easily online before our appointment . Our little guy always got very nervous at the vet, so having someone come out to the house where he could be comfortable and peaceful in his own environment was a blessing. Dr. Matheson was so kind and extremely patient, he examined our little guy, went over our options with us and reviewed the entire process once we were sure we wanted to move forward. They encouraged us to have a special treat for him and a favorite toy, to help distract him while the doctor got him ready. He never could eat bacon normally as it upset his tummy, but he loved it and was so happy to munch on pieces of it while the doctor got prepped for the procedure. We were able to say goodbye to him as he rested peacefully in his own bed surrounded by his favorite toys and blankets and the people who loved him. After the procedure was completed Dr. Matheson stepped out to allow us some time alone to say goodbye, and then made us a nose and paw print and framed them for us. He transferred him into a basket lined with blankets and let us carry him out to the car, to be with him for his final journey. He was so kind and supportive every step of the way, and we are forever grateful to have had this experience. Our hearts are broken over losing our baby, but this is the only way I would ever want to do this again in the future. No rushing to the vet, no fear for our dog in a strange environment, just love and respectful care as we said goodbye. We were also concerned that the price for in-home euthanasia would be too expensive for us, but it actually was in line with what our vet would have charged, and cheaper than the emergency vet. Thank you again to Dr. Matheson and Peaceful Transitions for making what is a stressful and difficult experience as positive as it could be, and for taking such wonderful care of our little guy and us.

He performed a lipoma surgery (a procedure for removing non-cancerous fatty tissue) on our cat, but did not provide any antibiotics or post-op followup to check on our cat's health. The only post-op appointment he scheduled for us was to remove the sutures, which was scheduled for 14 days after the initial surgery. We were surprised, but trusted his process. Moreover, the size of the incision was considerably larger than the impression Dr. Dave gave us for how large it would actually be. The stitch work was mediocre at best. We got a hold of Dr. Dave once we noticed our cat's health declining a few days after the operation. He would not take any responsibility for our cat's post-op condition. For context, our cat's bloodwork was perfectly fine prior to the operation. But after the operation, the bloodwork was alarming. Dr. Dave got very defensive and started speaking disrespectfully. He demonstrated no intention to guide or help us unless we would pay him for additional services. We had already paid him $1,650 for a dental cleaning and what was supposed to be a preventative surgery, which he highly encouraged and insisted would add several more years of life for our elderly cat. Long story short, our healthy cat ended up getting infected with jaundice and dying six days after the surgery. Six days. Think twice before trusting Dr. Dave. His office staff, by the way, were nice and friendly--they were very patient as we tried to find a date for removing the sutures. I hope they question more the character of the person they work for. * RIP Jasper *

I've brought my dogs here since I was a child, but over the last year I've had several negative experiences. I'm giving 2 stars instead of 1 only because Dr. Terrell usually provides excellent, realistic advice. They also have a kind and professional attitude. My concerns are with the overall care and office staff. 1. On three separate occasions, they returned my dogs to me from the back covered in feces. Each time, I had to ask to clean them up. 2. They no longer show itemized bills before charging, which leads to errors. The first time this happened, I was charged for for medicine I didn't receive. When I pointed it out, I got a credit on my account. At my next visit, rather than using the credit to pay for the bill, they charged me FOR the credit, so I ended up paying them the $50 they owed me. When I explained that it was a credit, she didn't understand. Mistakes happen, but it is basic math. Please go back to showing the itemized bill before patients pay. 3. My senior dog stayed there overnight with an infection on an IV drip. They said they'd give him antibiotics. When I called the next morning and asked about it, Dr Dratch said, "what antibiotics?" Our treatment plan wasn't followed. I started to cry, and he said "no wait we did, we just forgot to write it down." I am not sure what to believe with him backtracking and I fear that they didn't give him a shot at recovering with the medicine. 4. My young dachshund showed signs of back pain, so I called for an appointment ASAP. I was told the next available slot was two days later. When I called back begging for something sooner, they moved it up by one day. That night, he became paralyzed. I rushed him to an emergency vet, who sent us to the city for immediate spinal surgery. The next day, Dr. Dratch called to check in, which was kind of him - I really appreciated it, but by then it was too late. I now know that if my dachshund had received surgery before paralysis, his chances of recovery would have been much higher (80-90% versus 50%). He might never walk or pee on his own again. I'm devastated and wish the office had conveyed how urgent this condition can be, or at least referred us to an emergency vet or neurologist. Their lack of urgency made me feel like it wasn't an emergency situation. Now, I am so heart broken. I used to travel 20-30 minutes to come here, but it's no longer worth the inconvenient travel time. I appreciate the help I used to get from the vets and office staff, but there might be some mismanagement happening. I would really look into better training for some of the newer staff.
