You don't learn enough, they don't teach you flow and way to many quizzes and tests that basically your doing that more than actual learning hands on for massage. Classes are rushed and you learn massage by basically watching a demo in class if you can actually watch considering there are so many students in the way and can't even see. Teachers only go over modalities briefly and you have to learn fast which can be quite hard if you are new to massage. I would not recommend this school, I have tried working after getting certified and I didn't know enough to stay on a job. Didn't know flow, wasn't very good considering I felt like I didn't learn much and fast enough in that school. read more

I have been going to Healing Hands on and off for years. My first experience was getting thru pain to avoid a hip replacement on both hips. They enabled me to get thru until surgery. A few years later my doctor asked if he could do an x-ray of my neck because he told me I am hyper extending. The x-ray showed I need a decompression of L2 to L6. He said one more chiropractic adjustment and I could be paralyzed from neck down. After surgery, I went to PT, however, I didn't know that the person treating me was NOT a PT, but an assistant. Being frustrated I decided to go to Healing Hands for massage. Weekly Healing Hands massage did more for me than the assistant PT. I recommend Healing Hands highly. I now enjoy my appointments simply to relax and loosen tight shoulder muscles that have been overworked. read more

This is a review of the student massage clinic. Logistics: First, know that the parking lot is small and tight-fitting. There are a lot of large trucks seemingly belonging to some other nearby businesses that park there. The second time it was extremely difficult for me to back out and exit the parking lot and two giant trucks bad parked crookedly next to me. I do not have cameras in my car to aid in reversing/parking so it was difficult not to hit the trucks. That aside, they have a clear sign outside directing you to use the door on the left and go up the stairs to clinic. I highly recommend being able to shower right after your appointment as I was really oily. It depends on how much oil the student uses but especially the first time I was really covered and fortunately could go straight home to shower. Massage: They currently have great pricing with a Buy 1 Get 1 Free deal that makes it very affordable. Unlike some other massage schools, this school does encourage tipping the students so be aware of that. Also, you can NOT select the gender of your student. Some other schools do allow you to select a gender preference but that is not the case here. I have had both a male and a female. The female I had was very good. If I could request her again I would easily go back. She had better technique it seemed whereas the other male student may have been more new. There also wasn't really a post-massage review about advice, pain points, what they noticed, etc. I was used to some sort of follow up so I asked the student myself. Overall, I think you will be happy with the massage and I would recommend checking it out if you're ok with everything I said above. I always enjoy helping students get their practice hours and for a good price it's a win-win. However, I'm not sure if I will be back, as I prefer to select the gender of the students so I will continue using another school that allows a gender preference that I am more comfortable with. read more

I was referred here by my physical therapist for massages from students of the school. They have a special deal online that is very affordable. I purchased the deal and was given an email reminder for the massage. I came in early and the staff was welcoming. I thought the student who did my massage was good. He asked what kind of massage I wanted, such as shiatsu or deep tissue. I told him I wanted a lighter type of massage and he gave a circulatory massage. The room was a little warm for my taste but I thought the massage was good. I will be coming back. read more

Paula, Harmony and the team at Healing Hands are very welcoming, and they walk you through the course structure. There is a lot of flexibility in the course schedules, which is really night. You can either take daytime classes, or you can take nights and weekends. The classes are very instructional, and you get a lot of hands-on training. It is a great learning atmosphere as the students of the classes I've been in are very supporting and friendly - which is the overall vibe of Healing Hands School. There are lots of programs for tuition assistance that I never knew existed. Tuition is substantially lower compared to other schools while offering a wide array of optional courses. I received a well-rounded education provided by seasoned, knowledgeable instructors. Harmony, in administration, is well versed in massage modalities as well as a wealth of information regarding state requirements and procedures to obtain state certification, insurance, and job opportunities. Beware!!!!! The owner of this school is not ethical and is all about the money. I am a single mother and could only afford to go to this school because of Financial Aid funds. The school does not work with single parents at all or should I say the owner of the school does not care that you have to take time off to take care of your kids. I was kicked out of the program not because I had bad grades, I was a A student, but because of hours I had to make up. I could not afford to make up the hours because they would charge you again at $9.50 and hour to make up hours so you basically were being charged twice. The owner of the school Neha, pretends that he is this spiritual person that is so compassionate and understanding but he's really a ego maniac that does not care about his students welfare and does not work with their situations unless they are cash paying students. If you are a Financial Aid student please look at the program completion statistics on the FASFA Federal Government Website.. Only 10% of their students actually completes the program! Which is basically setting students up that are struggling financially to fail. Most of the students complain about the policy's that this school has. I am looking into a law suit due to the unethical practices and rules that the owner of this school has been practicing. There are no checks and balances what the owner says goes and nobody else can talk to him because he thinks himself as a God. I also took around 350 hours and they charged my financial Aid for 500 hours which is education fraud. The faciltiy in Laguna hills is just a room with one bathroom. Most of the time their are over 30 students in there and have to wait to go to the bathroom. The bathroom most of the time is not stocked with paper towels and they encourage the students to use the hand towels that everyone uses so if one person gets sick everyone gets ill. The carpet has stains all over it and is not clean. They have all the students sitting on the floor most of the time which is disgusting and unsanitary. Look into other schools or you may regret that you did not. read more

I'm am such a better person now and it's thanks to the safe environment, inspiring teachers and life long friendships that were all facilitated by Healing Hands. I started my 1000 hours for the holistic health practitioner program in July of 2011 and went full time. I completed it in June of 2012. You can go at your own pace though and they have a lot of class available on nights and weekends. I still attend cases, and hhp graduates get a special rate on classes so they are very affordable and that is a great perk! The teachers are all experts in what they teach. I never meet one that I didn't respect. They are all smart, helpful, inspirational and very friendly! The owners are super cool and kind. The girls at the front desk are awesome. Basically, it's one of the most beautiful groups of people you can meet. The classroom was recently redecorated and everything looks great!! It got fresh paint in soothing colors, new earthy green carpet, plants, and everything is organized. I was very impressed when I saw it! I highly recommend this school! Go with an open mind and open heart, and you'll get way more than you could ever imagine in return. read more

I've only taken one class from Healing Hands: the introductory massage tech class. The class covers the essentials of Swedish massage, proper body mechanics and basic anatomy. I enrolled so I could get a better idea of what being a professional massage therapist would be like and so I could learn the basics of massage so I can share with others. The class was great, you spend time learning and practicing and at the end of the class (this is also your final test) you will have no problem giving a 60 minute full body Swedish massage. Some things to conside: its not your traditional classroom environment. Class is held in an upstairs office building in a small commercial industrial building in Laguna. The lectures are done informally with students and teachers sitting on the floor in a circle. Most of your time is spent practicing massage on your classmates or receiving them. You really should be comfortable with working closely with other people of all types and ages - otherwise massage is probably not the right profession for you. It can be expensive but compare that with other programs and I think the cost is worth it. If you want to do the HHP program with federal student aid, you need to complete it in a year which can make things tricky. If you want to talk to the students before you enroll or if you simply need a low cost massage, you can book massages with the students on campus for a low cost. I have not started the class yet, but am extremely anxious to do so! There are a few schools in So Cal that teach massage therapy, but I was completely drawn to this particular one for a couple of reasons. Harmony is a great asset to the school and making new students feel welcomed. She thoroughly explains everything in detail and actually helps guide you in the direction you need to go in. Most of the schools I called were not helpful, nor did they make me feel that they had my best interest in mind. Harmony did!!! There is an amazing feel to the school and no - it is not a pristine college campus, nor does it have a cafeteria down the hall. It lends you the opportunity to actually learn what you pay for without the distractions of the glitzy college scenes. I also phoned a lot of local massage clinics and they all told me that they use they employ a lot of the students from Healing Hands. I'm an alumni from 2004. I've been an on and off CMT in California, and now on the East Coast. I'm working at a day spa, and pride myself on not only the modalities-Swedish, Deep Tissue, Shiatsu, as well as s comprehensive study of human anatomy and physiology relative to massage therapy that I learned at HH, but also on the equally-stressed importance of body mechanics as a practitioner. I've worked at several places as a CMT, and have seen most of my fellow coworkers work on clients with poor body mechanics, and later, sometimes complain of back soreness, etc.. I don't have this issue for the most part, as I treat my body mechanics in applying my knowledge of massage therapy as a sort of "dance," bending my knees slightly, keeping my head up, shoulders down, providing full, even strokes. In essence, I'm working with the principles of tai chi that we learned in class at HH. For this as well as the above that I learned at HH, I am forever grateful for this foundational learning that has excelled me to the current day in my career, some 14 years later. In addition, my instructors, Misty M., Kelly, the Curtiss', and 1-2 other names I'm forgetting at the moment, were all very supportive and interested in my success. I haven't been in touch since, but from my experience 14 years ago, I would recommend this school if it still follows the standards from back then. read more

I went to this school 5 years ago and they were really great with my education. This past week they helped me out a lot with my transcripts to be sent to Tennessee. Harmony typed up a letter with a breakdown of how many hours went towards each class, an official transcript and a spreadsheet of my transcripts to send to the Tennessee Massage Board so I can get my license with them. I really appreciate the time she took to do this since this is the final item I would need to get my license and Tennessee is very specific with what hours went towards what subject. She also kept me in the loop and sent me what was going to be sent to the Massage Board to verify everything they are requesting. So thank you again! read more

I have always dabbled in massage. As a child I'd give my mom and sister scalp massages, I'd walk on my dad's and brother's backs, and as an adult I always seemed to have a healing touch with those close to me. So I finally thought I'd give it a whirl and see if it was something I could do for a living....this school was the perfect fit. Very very very laid back environment. The educators are there because they truly believe in the healing arts of massage. The curriculem is based on making sure that you as a practitioner of massage stay healthy by following the correct form. You learn Tai Chi, anatomy, and then you learn about laying hands upon someone's body with respect, lack of judgment, and with the sole intent to heal with relaxation, muscle release, breathing, and energy. It was a beautiful learning experience and I highly recommend this school to anyone who may be interested in learning about massage. read more

I went to Fullerton college prior and couldn't believe the nonsense they were teaching and a work mate(I'm already a licensed Esthetician) told me about this school and though it was much further for me to travel, no mountain would have stopped me on going to this school. I graduated the HHP program a handful of years back and I am now very successful in the massage therapy world.
