Showed up today to learn my appointment was canceled after I confirmed it yesterday! No notification, nothing! Also May 10th, I checked in and someone canceled my appointment instead of checking me in. I sat and sat waiting. When I inquired what was happening they scrambled. I was seen for 25 mins. Was told they would comp my next session. Never did. Then now today! Highly frustrated! I book a month in advance to get the days and times that work. Just finished my massage with May. She is outstanding!! I asked for medium pressure and it was perfect the entire time. Even with some of the spots she was working out for me , I still fell asleep because she was so good at relaxing me. This review is long overdue... but as I'm looking through my dozens of drafts to complete, I'm happy to see that my favorite Massage Envy location wasn't a covid casualty. I've had to recently abandon several review drafts I started since many of those businesses were forced to close as a result of the forced closures during the pandemic. I've been to several location like Glendale (where I first started as a member), South Pasadena, Henderson (NV), Mission Viejo North and South, and Lake Forest to just name a few). I was sad to hear that Mission Viejo North closed during covid. I recall when they first opened and the staff there was great! TBH I can't recall having a bad experience at any of the locations, but at Lake Forest, I remember just really enjoying the sessions I've had here. Easy to get to this location also since it's not far from the 5 freeway. Sadly, I'm not the best with names and can't recommend anyone in particular. Definitely don't ask me to try and point one of them out of a line up either. I mean I probably only spend a minute face to face with them and spend 90 minutes face down in a low light room. lol I haven't tried the other services here, but all the massage therapists I've been paired with have done a solid to excellent job. Of course, if something isn't going the way I prefer, I'm also not afraid to speak up... and in the rare instance where I had to ask a provider to go firmer or lighter, they've always been able to accommodate. The front desk staff has certainly changed through the years, but has always been professional and friendly. I can't say I've experienced any issues here. Booking previously hasn't been an issue... although post pandemic does require booking further out in advance. I was told that there is a shortage of providers, so they can't book as many appointments like they did pre-pandemic. So I can't help but wonder about some of the poor experiences people have recently posted, but I wonder how much of that is also due to the staffing shortages. It does seem hard to find good help these days especially. Makes me wish that other Yelpers could be a little more forgiving when it comes to reviewing "service provider" businesses like this. Just remember folks, that they likely suffered the most through the pandemic and they are still working hard to recover from the hole the lockdowns caused. Also, the therapists have a very physically demanding job... so don't be cheap with tipping them! read more

May gave me a most relaxing massage last Tuesday. She sincerely wants to know what feels good, the amount of pressure, the kind of massage. She found knots in my neck/back area (probably too much computer/phone), coaxed them away, then smoothed over everything with a gentle but firm touch. SCAM SCAM SCAM!!! MASSAGE ENVY LAKE FOREST charged my credit card 14 times after my membership was supposed to be cancelled! I asked the employee to only sign me up for a year membership and NOT to auto-renew my membership. She did not click on "not auto re-new" so as a result my credit card was charged every month. I spoke to the manager Alishia and asked to credit my credit card for those 14 visits but she wouldn't. She said that it was my fault not to cancel the membership after a year. They are not taking responsibility for their employee's mistake. I wonder how many people were scanned the same way asking for the membership NOT to be renewed and Massage Envy continued charging their credit card. I asked for the owner of Massage Envy Lake Forest to contact me but the owner refuses to contact me. Please do not sign up for any membership with them as you will be scammed. Please share your experience if you had the same problem with your credit card being charged against your will. Please report Massage Envy Lake Forest to BBB (Better Business Bureau). I have enjoyed my Massage Envy subscription since day 1. My favorite massage therapists are Ivanka, Cassandra, and Emily. All three ladies know how to relieve my tension and work out my knots. I'm so grateful for their attention to detail, cleanliness, and sweet personalities. I LOVE that you are able to customize your massage each time by focusing on full body or a specific area that needs some extra attention. I have yet to try a facial but I definitely plan to one of these days! The only bummer is that reservations book up all the time so I recommend booking your date/time at least 1 month in advance to make sure they can accommodate you. Everything is clean and I feel completely safe coming to Massage Envy during COVID. I've been coming here for massages and facials for years. I see one person for facials, Shannon, cuz she's AMAZING, but I just cycle through the masseuses - getting a different person each time. Today I had the best massage I ever had, by a woman named Cassandra. I would highly recommend her! She knows all the pressure points and really worked my tired back and shoulders so that I felt fantastic when I left. And I know it's just going to get better over the next few days. I had a stack of gift certificates that I had never got around to using, so booked an hour and a half appointment to help with a kink in my neck from sleeping wrong. Mahshi was an amazing massage therapist who was good with the balance of how deep he could go on those areas without causing pain. The 90 minutes passed in no time at all and left me feeling like a noodle and able to bend and stretch muscles that that been like concrete for days. This review is for the front desk. Look, they're nice- they try to be accommodating, but dude- 25 minutes on the phone to transfer a massage is ridiculous. Like what are they doing during a 15 MINUTE HOLD?!? Saw Francessca today--for all of 5 minutes! She didn't know what a "trapezius" or "buttocks" was, she put pressure directly on my vertebrae (a no-no) and refused to tell me where she went to massage school or if she even went. Pretty fishy if u ask me. I got up and walked out. Management later told me the therapists are not required to state IF they have schooling or WHERE they went to school. THAT'S REALLY DUMB AND SERVES ONLY TO CREATE SUSPICION AND HARM THE REPUTATION OF THE THERAPIST AND MASSAGE ENVY. Why the hell would any duly-licensed individual refuse to say whether they were licensed and where they went to school? Ridiculous. I can't wait until I am out of my contract. Each of these south OC locations have become progressively worse! I've been visiting this location pre-pandemic times and the staff was always friendly, kind and understanding. Now they are flat out rude, untrained with zero customer service skills. Not to mention, half the good therapist are gone! They list them as "all pressures" yet don't know the meaning of "deep tissue". What a disappointment! I've canceled my membership after 2 years, have 1 session left which was paid in advance and that's the only reason I'll step foot into this place. I've been a member for 8 months and wish to be released from this contract. I've tried eight to 10 different masseuses, maybe one or two actually did give me a deep massage that made a difference in my physical pain. Overall , I've committed to hour and a half massages costing $100 plus tip and not being satisfied with the massage. In normal massage setting if you're not happy with their idea of "deep massage" you can walk out and not pay. But here there is some sense of obligation and the quality is not the primary concern. I've been a member in past years and had much better luck with finding a good masseuse and sticking with them, but after 8 months I've had no luck and I have no preference to any masseuses here. I had a massage yesterday and left feeling just as much pain as when I got there and went to someone else in the same day for relief. I feel like I'm throwing money away. read more

I went to the aliso viejo location for my massage and the massage was really good however the girl who worked at the front desk is the reason I'm not rating them five stars. She said she's an assistant manager and works at the lake forest location (her name was Cecilia or something), and she kept on insisting that we sign up for their membership to the point that it got really uncomfortable. Her commentary was passive aggressive when we said we need time to think about it she said "what's there to think about" and kept asking if the reason we're not signing up is because of financial problems which is unprofessional who asks that? It was just uncomfortable considering the fact that there were other customers there in the waiting area. No means no, I wanted to return for a facial but now I'm not so sure. read more

I have a membership and have been a member for 8 years. Mashi is my massage therapist and he is just amazing. I have had few sessions for stretching with him and his knowledge of the human body is so valuable. Due to my job, my body aches and Mashi can address every problematic area. I love strong deep massages and he knows when I need a good therapeutic massage or I am too stressed and need a relaxation massage. I could never go to anyone else but him, he is amazing and Massage Envy is very lucky to have a therapist like him there.
