Rehab is horribly understaffed and NO ONE responds to your complaints. The poor nurses and tech are working way too hard and still cannot take care of everyone properly. A horrible experience! read more

My mother was in Lutheran home for two weeks. The worst two weeks of our life. The first night was was told to pee in her depends even though she was there for a UTI by the CNA. All other times, they felt that waiting for a miminum of 30 mins was acceptable to go to the bathroom. This place also just gives the patients one shower a week whereas other places gives them two. The PT wasn't as good as we were informed. The office staff was just as useless. Made phones calls to lots of people, they always said they would look into it and never did. No one seems to know what the other person is doing. It was an awful experience therefore please look at other places to place your loved one read more

The room is situated so the client can't see the television from the chair and must view tv in bed!! Must call 2x to get someone at the desk to answer. No offering for social activities. Pt did not return my call. Frustrated with the services there. Do better Lutheran Home Rehab !! read more

Terrible home! Took my mother there ...took her back out... Only 1 young man was good and attentive! The rest of the staff was too busy on their phones!! And terribly rude!!! Even talking to the people in charge they promise you the world...once you leave they ignore the patient...!! Do not recommend!!! Stay away!! read more

The PT from the DOT (physical therapist, department of torture) took me down to the gym at #LutheranHome today - that's the rehab center I went to after being discharged from the hospital. I had so much physical therapy over the years that I'm just not fascinated with it anymore - to put it politely. But I'm giving it my absolute best with 100% cooperation. My primary care physician's partner came in and agreed I should be able to get out of here within a week. In the meantime, let me say that Lutheran Home is the nicest place you can imagine with a staff of people that are genuinely caring and concerned. It's not an act. It's in their DNA. They are super helpful right down to the admin and the people that prepare the food which by the way is delicious. Hats off to this community and I hope they will understand that I can't wait to get back home. read more

This is a horrible place never ever send a love one here. The staff what little there is of them are extremely incompetent, rude and threatening to patients. I had to go there myself to get help for my mother. She was in pain with bowel obstruction and they knew she previously had it, the nurse gave her Tylenol and told her not to contact me again or no one would answer her calls Another staff member took her alarm away so she couldn't call I insisted on seeing a doctor for my mother and was told one wouldn't be on site for two more days. That's when I made them call an ambulance a real one my mother ended up in the emergency room with bowel obstruction again. If I had not gotten there when I did my mother would have died! My Mom is there for physical therapy and that part is fine. The facility is understaffed so I don't feel my Mom is getting the proper care other than that. They don't tend to her personal needs such as shower or even a sponge bath, or make sure she brushes her teeth. I feel like they only come in the room to give meds or if she presses the call light, if it's even in her reach. Overall, not happy with it and am looking into 24 hr care for her at home. I would not recommend this place to anybody. I complained and they basically said they are under staffed and they do the best they can. read more

This place was beyond horrific and chaotic and stressful. The people there for the most part were compassionate and caring but management leaves a lot to be desired. Long waits when you buzz for help, broken equipment or wrong size equipment. Long menus to fill out and then the food they bring isn't even what you ordered. Days behind in filling out forms. Even therapists were frustrated. Made me convinced I would never do more surgery on other knee or go back there again. However, these staff members deserve a shout-out for exceptional care. Abeba... My grandmother was relocated here after her stint with Covid. They lost her clothes, pill box and glasses. The staff is inattentive. She was supposed to be moved out of the covid unit into a regular room, but we're still waiting on when that's going to happen. So we haven't been able to visit. Can't get a hold of anyone and never get clear answers. My understanding is a rehabilitation center is to assist with the recovery post surgery or illness by doing allowing the patient to move and exercise. She's been sitting in her bed for days. Praying she will be moved soon so we can see her and praying her discharge date is accurate. read more

Therapists are great, it's a clean, nice place I'll give them that, but looks can be deceiving. We had to get my mom out of there and transfer her to addoravata villa rehab in wheeling. They have been much kinder and attentive towards her needs. Not only did Lutheran my rehab give my mom beans with a couple meals after they knew she has an allergy to beans, but the nighttime nurses were mean and neglected her. One telling her "don't press the button. I'm not coming back"Please don't send a loved one here. My mother cried begging us to get her out of there. As soon as she got to the new place her attitude completed changed. She was eating and just happier. I have seen several staff on their phones surfing the internet while they were on duty. If you can't handle taking care of sick, injured, elderly ppl get into another profession! Not a good place. read more

The skilled nursing, memory care, ALZ, dementia, long term rehabilitation is a forgotten hole in the wall! This part of "The Lutheran Home"has fallen through the cracks terribly! It is ancient, the beds are plastic and hard, it is filthy the tiny dining room floor had an inch of grease and food on it! The food is horrible. I fear for my mothers life here. The nurses do not chart, they never know if meds were given, if PT or OT were seen, if a bed bath was given or even if a patient spent 2 days in bed after hip surgery! The caregivers just PASS THE BUCK!! This place is scary bad. What a fool I was to believe since the other sections are so taken care of, to assume skilled nursing memory care would be also! This place is so unorganized! It was so sad to see the caregivers did not even help them eat, they do not protect them, they sit in small uncomfortable wheelchairs all day or they stay in bed all day! I brought my mom here for rehab after a partial hip replacement. Her attending nurse was fine, but the rest of the staff was horrible. My mom would need to go to the bathroom frequently at night and they would wait hours to assist her. One day, in the middle of the night, they took her in the halfway in a wheel chair and left her out there so she couldn't use her call button to call them. That's no way to treat a 83 year old woman that is in pain. Apparently, this place was exceptionally in the past, but now it is terrible!!!!! read more

Please do not take your loved one here! My mom has been to many rehabs and they have been great! We still bring gifts to them all for the great care. Here she was abused! They were rough and mean. One pushed her in her bed and said I do not have time for you, I am busy. When I addressed they assured me that nurse was removed and promised me things would be better. Well the staff came back and said she got them in trouble and that nurse had a day without pay . My mom was so scared they would retaliate and when the social worker asked her she was too scared to tell her. As far as therapy what a joke! None at all! Also, she was in a hospital for a week and here a week because I would not allow anymore, she never had a shower! I asked and begged and last day gave her one and social worker said oh she is getting one last day and I said I asked that is why. No schedule and no schedule of therapy. We have been to oaks of Bartlett, transitional care and symphony and all good experiences and great therapy! Stay far far far far away from here! I am so mad at myself that the first experience I didn't take her out! They told me legally I had to wait for the dr to dismiss, I should of taken her out. It was so sad ! Other rehabs have plans and make sure all ok at home ect. The food was decent but they leave it and don't make sure the elderly can open or cut their food. Water was never there and little tiny cups. We had to get her water. Other rehabs have large cups and filled fresh daily. She did not get any stronger the week there, abused, rude and no therapy. The only thing that made her happy was a male there. He was the only kind one. Thank God for him. Oh one more thing they wanted my mom to stay in her chair and not go into her bed, so they raised the bed where she could not get into it. They never came when she hit the button so she would try to go to bed from sitting in the horrible chair all day, no therapy or attention so they didn't want to care for her so to keep her sitting all day they raised the bed on purpose. She could of gotten so hurt trying to get in. I am so sad I put my mom there. I thought religious, no religion practice there don't let that fool you. She didn't understand the remote and they were so mean to her so she never watched tv unless we were there. They ripped it from her hand and said how stupid she was. Social worker gave me nurse on staff cell number to check in on my moms care after all this and the nurse was mad I got the number questioning me how I got the number? Like r you kidding me! She had attitude and was mad I was calling on that line! read more

My husband spent time at My Rehab after surgery and the staff went out of their way to make sure he was comfortable and got what he wanted. The therapy team was terrific, and I recommend My Rehab to people all the time. The environment is refreshing and it makes you feel better just walking in the door. He had a second surgery and the staff all remembered him. Don't forget to visit the Deli by the main entrance, and if you're lucky you'll see the kids from the daycare center. So cute! read more

My husband had a great experience following a stroke. The nursing and therapy team were able to get him walking, talking and eating again and I was able to take him home. We both never thought he would go home again after his stroke so I can't thank the Lutheran Home enough for all they did to bring my husband back to me! read more

My Rehab at Lutheran Home was exceptionally clean. Therapy went very well. 90 percent of the staff were so friendly. You always have a few crabs anywhere you go. All in all the staff was great. Especially Sylvia who was extremely helpful on the first floor. She always made my family member feel comfortable and special. She went above and beyond! The patient rooms are spacious and clean. Facility is up to date and plenty of spaces to congregate with family and friends in the common visiting areas. Lots of activities to do as well. I would recommend this rehab. read more
