I am giving this facility 3 stars primarily due to the very good quality of care provided by the fantastic staff--they truly deserve 5 stars. The lower rating is for two main reasons: 1. The building and facilities are simply old and poorly designed. The lobby is barely big enough for a postage stamp. 2. My parent really disliked the food that was served here. It is also worth noting that both The Pearl of Rolling Meadows and The Pearl of Elk Grove Village are privately owned (by Pearl Healthcare), as the physical infrastructure and dining seem to lag behind the high quality of the frontline caregivers. read more

A friend in their care right now has commented to me about their lack of care and less for pain management.

My mother was here for only 3 weeks..[[HIGHLIGHT]]staff was a crap shoot. Some great...others not too attentive[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]. Physical Therapy was a Medicare grab(she couldn't move but saying she got it checked a box). 'Someone' stole her radio (was not another resident...they couldn't put the gift box back on top shelf in her closet) and we brought in her own Nebulizer unit and the faculty couldn't wait to allocate it and claim as their own. Not sour grapes here at all...just some truth bombs. Find another place. Plus they would find excuses for shorting her on food ..and at the $13k-$15k per month..inexcusable and 'horns came out' a couple of times telling them this. Not run professionally read more

If you really care about your loved ones, DO NOT put them here! The food is absolutely horrible. Clothes come up missing ( even if names are on them) jewelry comes up missing. They're careless while washing the residents, I know because my loved fell under their care in the shower ( CNA asked her to stand full of soap and grab the bar , all soapy and she fell). None of the pictures are accurate. The place is a dump. Our friend who is there has 2 beds in his room and one chair that he and his roommate have to share. No tv in the room either. My husband ended up here for one week, and it was the worst week of his life! He had to go to a rehab center to finish his IV antibiotic and to start physical therapy after three surgeries for a bone infection. We had no idea how bad this place was until we got there at night. All the facilities we wanted were booked or didn't take HMO's. When we arrived they told us what room to go to, and right away we knew it was bad. The hallways smell heavily of urine, and there are no private rooms that we could see. Luckily nobody was in his room for the first three days. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The nurse who checked us in seemed unsure of himself, and asked me questions about my husband as if he couldn't answer.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] He is 69, but in good shape mentally and physically. A CNA then popped in and I told her that my husband has diabetes (not extremely bad) but is on a 60 carb per meal diet. She then brings a plate with pasta, rolls, cookies and two juices. We explained that he cannot eat any of that, but they just left it and never came back. The nurse came back and said it doesn't show anywhere in his charts that he is on a special diet. He then told me the kitchen is now closed so he cannot get anything else!! Thank God I stayed, because I then left and got a ton of groceries, snacks, and dinner for him. I guess if you don't have anyone helping you you just starve??? Family came every day to bring fresh, healthy and high protein packed food so he could better recover. Some days breakfast was one piece of French toast and one sausage link. How would you recover here properly with nothing of nutritional value?? Thank God my husband was able to get himself to the bathroom and get out and about. He was surrounded by elderly people yelling, coughing, and screaming. We had the bed by the window and always left it open so we could keep some of the germs out. They eventually put a man in his room who would yell and ask for help and nobody would come for hours. So sad and depressing. My husband would tell the front desk how nobody is helping these people. Again, thank God he was able to get himself out of the room for most of the day and always had visitors. The Friday before he left, the nurse who changed his wound vac dressing wrapped it so tight it stopped working. We realized it Saturday, and the original nurse Monday who checked us in told us he would take it all off and we could put it back on Monday! I said absolutely not, and magically they got a nurse who realized it was put on wrong. It is these little mistakes which can cause major setbacks in recovery. Again, if you have no family or friends advocating for you this place will be the downfall of your recovery. They are obviously completely understaffed, and I am sure some of the staff are competent and feel overwhelmed. We stuck it out here for 7.5 days and we hope this review gets out there and nobody willingly puts their loved one in here. Had we known how bad it was, we would have never accepted the placement. One of the workers told my husband they could get him more days to which he replied, "Why would anyone want to stay here longer than they have to"! After this nightmare, I am switching my insurance to a PPO, and getting my husband a part B Medicare/supplement so we can pick an excellent rehab center if we ever need it. read more

Worst nursing home in the world. The call button is a joke. Nobody to help you get to the bathroom. Won't even give you Tylenol.

If you love your family member do not put them at this facility. This facility does not care for the residents like they should. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Our family was constantly lied to by staff about the status of our family member.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We visited our family member at this facility multiple times a week where we would find them lying in the bed with sores, looking emaciated because they hadn't eaten and sitting in days old full diapers. Our family member had even contracted C.Diff from the unsanitary conditions at the facility. Everything about this facility was truly disgusting. The staff were aware that are family member had dentures and yet they refused to remove them because they thought they'd get bit, this led to severe sores in our family member's mouth because the neglect of the staff. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Staff are not honest about updates on family members.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] While we were visiting my family member we were told they had eaten all their breakfast when in fact the full tray of untouched breakfast was sitting too far from reach in the bedroom. The only way to post this was 1 star but should be 0. This is not a place that I would send anyone you care about. My husband spent 4 1/2 days there and that long only because it was the weekend and I could not find another decent place to move him too The wait time from when he pressed the call light was min 20 min and if he needed a bed pan that was too long. They never changed the bed linens the entire time he was there. Food was terrible something was always missing. So many other things I don't have room to list. The place is very old and in my opinion not kept up repair wise. Hole in the wall not patched. If you are considering this place insist on seeing it in person. read more

I would highly recommend The Pearl Arlington Hts. My father entered their skilled nursing with COVID from a hospital stay. Their handling of securing COVID patients was impeccable. And yet I was allowed to visit taking strict precautions. After my father moved out of the COVID wing he remained at Pearl for almost two months. Their PT and OT teams were caring and extremely helpful. As far as the staff and nurses, I can't even begin to tell you how compassionate and accommodating they were to me and my father. The staff had activities for residents and included us. They even would come and get my dad to participate. All rehab/skilled nursing facilities can be scary, but this facility was pleasant and the staff put it over the top. I am grateful to them for all their help. It was like leaving good friends when my dad was released. read more

Let me start out by saying, that My 87 year old Mother, has been at The Pearl for 2.5 Years, and that I was in, the same position that You are now in, 2.5 years ago. Also, my Mother was in other Specialized Care facilities, before I transferred her to the Pearl of Rolling Meadows. If there is one Review, that you need to read, in its entirety, this is the one, not because I wrote it, but, because it is the Truth. The Pearl of Rolling Meadows, is comprised of the Finest Staff, at Every level, that I have ever encountered anywhere, for this type of Specialized Care facility. In my 63 Years, I have cared for, and been the Power of Attorney for, my Mother (who currently resides at The Pearl, and has for 2.5 years) my Father, Father in Law, Mother in Law, and friends, in many different facilities of all types, in the Northwest Suburbs of Chicago The Pearl of Rolling Meadows, is truly, the BEST of them all, due to the entire Staff, that really cares about their residents and their families. There are Newer, better looking facilities, however, buildings don't provide the care your loved one needs, people do. Your Loved One, doesn't care what the building looks like, that only matters to the person making this decision. It is the care, provided by the entire Staff, that matters to your Loved One. Staff, at Every level, is required to make the care your Loved One needs happen. This is where, The Pearl of Rolling Meadows is Outstanding, and stands out, among all the rest. Anyone, who writes a bad review about the Pearl, simply does not understand what happens to our loved ones (human beings) at this very difficult time in their lives and in turn, our lives. Most family members, can't even begin, to understand, what happens to our Loved Ones, at this point in their lives, unless you have gone through it, for an extended period of time. It's NOT good. They are NOT Happy at all. Our Loved Ones are in crisis, and it is extremely difficult to manage, however, the Staff, at every level, at The Pearl, does it extremely well. We, as human beings, take so many things for granted in our lives, when we are Healthy. For the most part, there is nothing that we can't do, on our own, without assistance. All of that, changes Dramatically, in these situations. Then, when the time comes, (and it does for all of us) for whatever reason, or cause, when we are no longer able to manage, even the most simplest of human tasks, that is where The Pearl steps in, and takes over, and they do it with Excellence. Attempting to take care of an Adult Loved One, who is not doing well, requires an enormous amount of non-stop effort, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 52 weeks a year. It is really challenging, like nothing you have ever experienced in your life, unless, you have done it before. Your Loved One, now requires, actually demands, about 10 times or more effort, EVERY DAY, that is required to manage your own needs, think about that for a minute. Your Loved One, is a completely different human being now, most definitely, still your Loved One, they look the same, however, that is where the similarity ends. They are NOT the same. My 87 year old Mother and I, now realize that, among many other things that happen to us, that being able to use the washroom on your own, without compromise, is probably one of those most important things in an Adult Human Beings life, and the life of their Caregiver. read more

DO NOT SEND ANYONE YOU LOVE TO THIS FACILITY! My BIL was admitted to this facility during his final days and was under hospice care. Facility was informed he was on hospice, goal of care was to keep him calm and comfortable, and that he had a pleurex cathedar. They accepted him, implying they they could meet his needs. First time we visited he was agitated and trying to crawl out of bed. I had to ask for pads so he would not be hurt if he feel. RN said there were no orders for meds, although not only were there orders, hospice had delivered the meds, but the RN didn't know it. RN did not know how to handle the cathadar. We spoke to head RN, she was going to take care of it. Two days later same thing happens only we found my BIL in even worse condition and hospice transferred him out of that facility immediately. THANK GOD! He went to another facility and passed away calmly and comfortably with caring and trained staff caring for him. read more

My mother in-law has been In this facility for years. This is not a place to bring your love one for any reason. The place is filthy and smells of urine and feces. My mother-in-law has gotten so sick in this place it is disgusting. Recently she was diagnosed with scabies after they had been treating her for shingles which she didn't have. There are places out there that are beautiful this is not one of them. If you're wondering why I haven't taken her out there because it is out of my control so I can at least let other people know about this place. They stick them in one tiny room during the day and it's more like a prison to these elderly people.If I could give this place a zero or No stars I would. read more

The Pearl truly delivered on their promise of quality Care. After my grandmother fell and broke her hip coming out of the shower, she needed a place to rehab and the Pearl was definitely the right choice. I was worried that my grandmothers age might impede her full recovery but the rehab team was spectacular and got her walking. The nurses and aides were friendly and were integral to her recovery. The only issue we had was When she first got in they had put her in with a roommate and he roommate was keeping her up but after speaking with the social worker they were able to move her to own room. read more

He also would pull my husband's pants up so high that they would give him a wedgie. When he finally came home, he had been in the same diaper for about 10 hours and was soaking wet! This is by far the worst facility I have ever seen. It only took 3 days before we took our mother out of this awful place. Patients are left in their rooms in uncomfortable wheel chairs or made to sit in the halls in these wheel chairs. No one checks on them until it's too late. The smell was unbearable. The food was awful. The care was non-existent. When I found my mother unresponsive in her wheel chair and asked for help my answer was "what do you want us to do?" Obviously they don't know how to do their jobs. When the ambulance drivers came to take our mother to another location they even told us we were making the right decision to take her out of there. Don't ever take anyone you care about to this place for any type of service. I would not send my worst enemy to this pit! From what I found out while investigating further all the Manor Care facilities are just as awful if not worse. Please stay away from these facilities. We took our mother to Lutheran Home in Arlington Heights. The staff is wonderful at Lutheran Home and the care mom got was amazing. read more

Manor Care, Rolling Meadows, is not fit for humans. Their care is non-existent. Doctor shows up for rounds once a week and if there is an emergency - well you are out of luck. Our mother was here for 3-1/2 days before we transferred her out. She was left unresponsive slumped in her wheel chair with aides walking around her, not checking. Nurses ignored our call for help. Bathrooms are filthy - we had to clean just so mom could use it. Halls smell of urine. Nurses never leave their "station" -- medications are handed out by aides (are patients getting the right meds?). When you confront them about a problem/situation administration will look directly at you and lie. If you truly care for your family member you will not admit them here or to any Manor Care facility - they are all part of a chain and one is worse than the other. read more

Schaumburg. My mom had a very bad fall and couldn't go home from the ER. I had heard that manor care in rolling meadows may not be the fanciest place, but that it was clean and the staff were really caring. We got there after 10pm and everyone knew we weere coming and got her situated right away and gave her something to eat.The nurses were so nice and friendly and the aides were very caring. Therapy got her up and moving the next day. Adam was encouraging and was able to help with the pain too. We liked the doctor she was given there so much that she has changed to her as her primary care doctor. Mom is doing much better and I would take her back there again if needed. read more
