Came here today with my friend to do a couples massage. Last minute they asked if we could do individuals rooms, totally fine. Atmosphere is very nice and calming. There's parking! It's a house with a commercial area on the first floor. Chen Chen was my massage therapist and he's one of the best I've gotten. Not too hard and not too soft. I love the Tui Na that he applied. I also asked for firm, when it came to the different levels. Before you do your massage, they also have you fill out a form stating which areas you'd like to target, which area you don't want them to touch and any specific problems you have. I don't write reviews often, but people need to know to STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE!!! I use Yelp all the time to check out reviews for places, but failed this one time. The review by Ashlyn is completely true! Here are some things to add: 1. The manager chain smokes cigarettes and will be in and out the front door reeking up the place. Be prepared to get a big whiff of smoke upon walking 10ft to this place and then inside. 2. They don't wash their sheet covers that you lay on when you get a massage, they had this weird disposable paper like stuff barely covering everything. It is like that thing you put down on public toilet seat covers. The table is only like a half inch thick piece of wood with NO padding. I have a massage table at my house for when I do Reiki and it wasn't that expensive. II'm sure they can afford 3 new tables for their place. My arms lost circulation a couple times and i tried to put them up beside me, but the table was too small so I couldn't hold them there for long. 3. They don't have that usual sheet that you fill out where you let them know if you have any issues or where you do and don't want to be massaged. They didn't even ask if I hurt anywhere. I asked her to concentrate on my back and not worry about my legs, but she didn't listen. Oh, and no foot rub!! I got a pedicure the day before and the girl didn't even touch my foot once. 4. They definitely try to rip you off on time as they tried to short me a half hour on a 75min massage. The time they spend with the door wide open so everyone can see you naked on a table talking to the "manager" angrily in Chinese is NOT part of massage time. If you have to leave the room to get something for 5 minutes is NOT part of the massage time. They tried to say that as soon as the door was closed and I got undressed waiting (for 15min because the masseuse wasn't there) counted as the start of the massage!! Ridiculous!!! 5. There is a family with 3-10 kids living upstairs constantly running around and making weird noises. Dragging bodies? I don't know, but it would drive any sane person mad. There is no ceiling so the masseuses talk really loud to each other in the other rooms. You can also hear whatever is going on in the place like the receptionist. Oh, and why does that girl let the phone ring three times exactly every time someone calls?!?!? You're RIGHT there, pick up the phone!! Or change it to a pleasant ringtone or something quiet!! 6. Although they said they would grab me a glass of water when the massage was done the lady forgot. 7. They switched masseuses on me 30min into my massage. I don't know why, maybe it was because the masseuse that was supposed to do my massage had to be called up and was late and the other one was leaving? Anyways, this girl did NOT use any oil on me. So one leg was all oiled up, and the other it was a dry massage. It wasn't bad, but wth, stay with the program. I wanted their advertised "Natural Healing" massage. The second lady did NOT do that massage even though I mentioned to her that is what I requested. She then gives me a 10min face massage which was basically just smushing my face around. I've gotten these before and it has always been awesome. Then NO JOKE, she started massaging my chest with HAND SANITIZER!!!! I could smell it so bad and she just kept apologizing. 8. Enter the 3rd lady who takes over. Yes, THREE masseuses. More time wasted in the transition, and I was sexually assaulted. She kept telling me how handsome I was and how strong I was and it seemed like she was more playing with my muscles than massaging them. I don't believe ANY of these women were LMT's (licensed massage therapists). I have never had a massage like these women gave, and i've had every single type over the last 20 years. She blatantly lifts the cover off of me to check out my goods, then proceeds to massage my pelvic area "accidentally" nudging and at one point holding my dick. When she realized this she said sorry and then proceeded to move my dick to a different position out of the way. What The Fuck!?!? Then she kinda half tucks the cover exposing my leg and proceeds to stretch my leg for me. She brought it straight to my chest, then crossed over my body. And yes, the cover was NOT on me when she did this, and she was basically laying on my naked body. Thank God Groupon is so awesome and gave me a refund. I checked their website prices and it was basically the same price as the Groupon minus a few dollars since they have a discounted price Monday - Thursday. So it's not 50% off as Groupon says. More like 5%. Oh, I forgot, they called me the day before and asked me to be there 15min early and if I would like a male or female masseuse. I get there and they don't have any of my information written down, but the chain smoking manager remembers our conversation on the phone. What they do well: -Great prices -Free parking (although not advertised super well) -Complimentary water and candy (I'm trying here) I wanted to preface with the fact that the experience wasn't totally unredeemable before going into detail about my experience. My girlfriend bought the couple's massage as a birthday gift for me. (She's a good one.) I was so excited because I love massages and wanted her to experience one for the first time. Unfortunately, however, this experience was not one that made her yearn for future massages. I was immediately nervous because of the fact that I could hear the people currently getting a couple's massage perfectly well. I then noticed that there is not a full wall between the reception area and the massage room. I then became even more frustrated by the fact that she booked it for 2PM and we were not seen until 2:20PM, which would have been fine had they been apologetic about that fact. Once we were actually getting the massages, it became abundantly clear that our masseuses had not looked over the form we had filled out, which specified which areas to focus on and which areas to avoid. My girlfriend is very ticklish and very soft-spoken (not a great combo when someone is massaging your feet). If that wasn't bad enough, her masseuse answered the phone halfway through the massage! We knew it wasn't an emergency call because we heard both ends of the conversation. Additionally, the location of the spa is on the first floor of a house and there is clearly a family that lives above it. How do I know it was a family? Well, I don't but I really hope that crying baby that we heard running around above us wasn't living alone. (Although props to you, baby, if you were able to make it at such a young age.) All and all, not a relaxing environment. The massage itself wasn't the worst I've ever had, but it definitely was nowhere near the best. My masseuse was able to stretch me out and get a few knots out, but because he didn't read the forms, he was not able to tackle the areas I really wanted him to work on or do the amount of pressure that would have worked best for me. Although the price is right, I would suggest finding another place if you like massages that are relaxing, on time, and specific to your needs. read more

I just had Gua-Sha and Cupping with Chen Chen, and it was AMAZING!!! He did so much for my back and shoulders. He also explained how it all works which is very interesting. He was trained in China , so you're getting traditional Chinese techniques. I was so tight I couldn't turn my head. I'm a full time hairdresser and my body gets destroyed! Arriving, we were greeted upon entrance and the reception area as well as the rooms were neat and clean(we noticed them changing the sheets from the previous users.) As others have noted they were running a little late (15 min) but it was a snow storm outside and I contribute that to maybe other clients running behind as they showed us to our room very shortly after others left. We received the full hour massage. The massages were enjoyable and so was the atmosphere which was quiet except for being able to hear the door from outside and the reception phone on occasion as others have mentioned the walls not reaching the ceiling. Also there was noise from above but that faded into the background as the massage was relaxing and distracting enough. Both our masseuses were professional and polite. I wish I had read the Yelp reviews. I always read Yelp reviews. WHY DID I NOT READ THE YELP REVIEWS??!! Went here, will never go again. Worst massage I have ever had. I was booked with a female masseuse, but when I arrived she wasn't working that day for whatever reason, so a man (only person working there, apparently) had to do it. Male vs female can be a big deal for some people, so I wasn't happy they didn't at least ask if that was okay. Linens in the room did not seem the cleanest. Since he was the only person working there that day, he LEFT THE DOOR OPEN while massaging me... you know, in case the phone rang... which he left to answer. Or in case someone came in the front door... which they did. That gentleman came in, with an appointment, and was also expecting a female masseuse... the employee had to spend 5 minutes asking this man to please come back later and that he'd take care of him even though Ling wasn't there that day. I would have been no annoyed if I booked an appointment and the place told me to come back 30 minutes later. The customer kept explaining that he had an appointment, and that it was supposed to be with Ling, and the guy just kept telling him to come back. I really hope he didn't come back. Also, there are people living upstairs, and they have several kids. I actually wondered if it might be a daycare or something. They are loud, and you can hear everything. Very distracting and not relaxing at all. I felt so uncomfortable with the male masseuse, the door open, him leaving every 10 minutes to deal with other customers, and wondering the whole time if this place was legit, and if the sheets I was laying on were even clean. While I utilize Yelp often for recommendations, I admit I am terrible about actually review places myself. That being said, I am making the time to review this place to tell people to stay FAR, FAR away from this place. I was super sore and had tired muscles. I typically get monthly massages, but had not in a few months due to work and travel. One afternoon, I couldn't take it anymore and called my normal places. No one could take me for a few days. Then I saw a Groupon for this place. It seemed ok, and was not too far for me to get to. Walking in, it seemed like a normal Asian massage place. I love Thai Massage in Southie or Quincy, so I'm comfortable with that style when that's what I'm looking for. I was taken to a couples room by the woman behind the front desk. After undressing and getting under the sheet, an Asian lady came in and introduced herself (although I do not remember the name). She asked about pain, etc and I told her I was just looking for a relaxing massage for sore and tired muscles. She asked about a fragrance (as there was supposed to be aroma therapy). She began. All was well. About 3 minutes into the massage, there was a knock at our door. (Um, excuse me?) The lady answered it. I heard a mans voice (heavy accent, not Asian) tell her that there was an issue in his room. She left. As other reviewers have mentioned, the walls are thin and do not go up to the ceiling. I could hear a lady client in another room saying she did not want the type of massage he was giving, that she had told him a few times, but he wasn't getting it. After a little back and forth, the lady masseuse came back in the room with me, said "This is Sam, he will be doing your massage", and she left. Sam proceeded to lift my face out of the cradle. I held it up slightly, as he kept pulling it up to look at him. What? Why are you yanking my head up to look at you when I'm already face down for a massage." He proceeds to tell me in very bad English (again, not Asian accent) that he is going to do special massage type to fix my pain. I told him I was not in pain, I was sore. He proceeded to yank, pull, push and contort me in odd positions while applying pressure. It was severely painful. I asked him to stop and just rub. He proceeded to scold me and say that he knew what he was doing, he was trained in Germany, and I needed to deal with the pain to "make better forever". I have done enough PT, massage and chiropractic work in my life to know that the ways he was pushing and pulling me was not healthy for any part of my body (confirmed this with a psychical therapist afterward). On top of that, he kept asking me to sit up and move around undraped. Now I'm not super modest or anything, but I don't know who you are, you won't stop doing whatever you want even though I've asked you to stop your maneuvers, etc. the last thing I want to do is sit up topless and move around with you. When he finally got through his "torture" moves, he said, "ok, now relaxing massage." He then lightly rubbed lotion around for the remaining time. All of that, and you really don't know how to run and massage muscles?!? The fact I stayed as long as I did still bothers me. I know exactly why the other lady client kicked him out of her room. My back hurt for days. Not in the "I just got a deep massage, and this is the good before the bad way." More like do I have something seriously injured way. My friend that does PT is still encouraging me to report them to the licensing board to investigate, as the methods they used on me should not be in practice. It can be very harmful to the body. I am *literally* allergic to this place. I woke up the next morning with hives (or God I hope not, bug bites). the Dr thinks it's the "aromatherapy oil." so be cautious about this place if you have sensitive skin! It's also worth mentioning that their "75 minute" massage was only 65 minutes long. My husband got us a Groupon for a couples massage for Valentines Day. This place is about 45 minutes from our home but totally worth it! It was easy to find, parking was a little tricky but that was most likely because of the snow. Our massage therapists were wonderful! We filled out a form first that asked about where we would like them to focus on, and whether or not we had any problem/pain areas. They were both very aware of our requests and asked us a few times if we felt any pain or if the pressure was too much. They did a great job and took their time! I finally got through and they state they do not do couples massages and that they do not take Groupon. It is all over their website that they offer couples massages even have them discounted during the weekdays and the Groupon is still active. Had a great massage here. Make sure you ask for Ling. If you don't specifically ask for a female you will get a male. First the massage;it was great. Pressure was very good (I don't like it too hard). She worked out the knots without pain, did some active stretching with massage, and a little deep tissue. Very warm and relaxing. Unlike other people I heard nothing from kids upstairs. A little stop of massage while she had to interpret for the male massage therapist. Not a big deal. Being a nurse on my feet most of the day, my back was in agony and I was desperate to find a massage parlor last minute who would take me, and this was the only place that called me back. This place was weird though. Talk about a sketchy Asian massage parlor. Dark dingy first floor of a house with a neon sign in front, no lights in the parking lot, and walking in, there wasn't a warm welcoming feeling (all of which could've been overlooked had the massage been good). I think it all depends on which masseuse you get as I have read positive reviews about "chen chen." I got the female masseuse who barely applied any pressure. Usually when I get a massage I am so relaxed and am fighting to stay awake to enjoy most of the massage and I just want to sink into the seat or table. Usually even with female masseuses, there is a lot of pressure which hurts, but the relief is amazing afterward. Here, the massage table was not all that comfortable. My masseuse barely put any pressure into my massage. At some points I felt like she was just softly rubbing my body. At another point when she was cleaning off the oils on me, she threw a scalding hot towel on my back to the point where I actually made a noise. I kept wanting this massage to end (which I never do bc I always enjoyed them prior to this experience). I even got my bare ass rubbed for a good twenty minutes which was awkward. The masseuse didn't speak any English so it was really hard to communicate with her that my back was in a lot of pain. All the meanwhile, the rooms weren't private at all and I could hear an entire conversation going on for the last 45 min of my massage between the other masseuse and his client. Great with the right amount of pressure and very accommodating to individual situation. I would give 5 stars, but there are still some issues with scheduling and noise from upstairs. I am 17 and my boyfriend is 18. We went here for a couples massage last night. About 30% of my massage was completely focused on my butt which made me very uncomfortable, my butt was being slapped open hand at a certain point. My boyfriend also said his massage therapist got a little too personal with him too. Would not recommend for young kids, you might find it particularly uncomfortable. read more
